oforjide: that was when football is strictly based on talent unlike now money has destroyed the game of soccer. Exactly. Big clubs don't have patience to promote players to first team again. Otherwise, you will not win anything when other teams are buying made players. |

Arguably the best player that did not win the world best.
Meanwhile, why has Barca Academy that produced the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Fabregas, Luis Garcia, Thiago Motta, Pique, Busquets, Puyol, Guardiola stopped producing fine players?
Or football no longer has time for Academy players? |

DonX001: Care to share the story? Lol. 2010. Working in Lagos. Seriously searching. Managed to get one lady I met at a wedding few weeks earlier give me appointment to come see her in Ilorin. Booked a 6pm Arik flight to Ilorin on a Friday. 4.30pm, I hadn't finished my work in the office. My boss was still around. Can't afford to miss my flight for the Ilorin appointment. Left my system on in office, pretending as if I just stepped out to grab a snack on the next street. Hopped into a bike from VI to Ikeja airport to beat rush hour traffic and make the flight. Still got to Ikeja late, around 6.30pm. Thankfully, the flight was delayed to 8pm. Got to Ilorin like 9pm and settled down. Appointment with the lady next day at an eatery and she was doing yanga. Barely spent 30 minutes. Parleyed with a couple of guys in her neighbourhood and heard some not-so-good tales about her. Together with the way she reacted at our short meeting at an eatery, I got angry. Missed flight back to Lagos on that Saturday and there was no Sunday flight to Lagos. And I had to go to work on Monday. Took late for me to go back to Lagos by road as it was like 5pm already and I dont like night journey. Headed to bus garage in Ilorin and got a bus going to my hometown, which is just 45 minutes drive to Ilorin so I can pass the night there and continue the Lagos journey early in the morning on Sunday. In the bus from Ilorin to my hometown, saw this quiet, well-dressed beautiful lady sitting in the seat after mine. Couldn't interact with her in the bus as we were on different seat rows. Determined to alight anywhere she alighted, even if in a town before my hometown. Thankfully, we were both going to same town but she alighted at a bus stop before mine. Needless to say I also alighted at her bus stop. She entered a shop to buy an item (a walking stick for her indisposed mum). After much pestering, and with the intervention of the shop keeper who pleaded with her to oblige me, she gave me her number. The rest is history. 10 months later. She became my wife. The colleague that covered for me on the Friday evening I sneaked out of office to Ilorin, was my best man. |

mcthewills: The thing is, people salary expectation differs. Wat A considers as good salary might be bad to B. I dont know what oil and gas pays, i also do not know wat top paying banks pay but i know i have expectations and sometimes i feel its proper for companies to poimt out salary range for specific job.
That said, if once salary expectation is between 1m to 1.5m per month net, do u consider that a range the this company can match? Or do u consider it outrageous and a range only for oil/gas? If they cannot match your salary expectation, it's a simple matter of walking away (or chasing them away with your pay demand). Most of the jobs advertised by the company have minimum of 8-10 years experience. In upstream oil and gas company, such level of experience attracts between 1.5m - 2m, or higher in the case of top IOCs. They are not an oil company, but a pension fund manager. I have it on good authority that they do better than all the pension management companies. So I think 1m to 1.5m per month is a decent salary expectation for them. |

rossydinda: Hi @Jarus
I have the same case as in the quoted above.
I will be fully sponsored by my company to have a business trip to UK.
So does it make sense to fill both question about : 1. How much money I will spend and 2. Amount of money sponsor will be paying towards. with the exactly same amount?
Did you manage to get the UK visa granted for you?
I am worrying, some people states that the question 1. should be filled with '0' as we are not gonna spend anything as we are fully sponsored.
Please advise. Thankssss! Put the amount your company will spend in both places. It effectively means the company is sponsoring the trip. Put enough comments in the comments section to emphasize that the company is sponsoring the trip as it is a business. On your question, I have never been denied a UK visa. Applied 4 times and got on each occasion. |

Make them no employ person come dey talk story say them no go pay person like oil worker oh. Because I don't understand this disclaimer. Abi they don't want us to have high hopes. They are not an oil company. They are in investment/pension/fund management industry. Their benchmark companies are ARM, StanbicIBTC etc but they do better than those. But please don't expect oil company condition of service. They are not an oil company. |

But the tweet is true sha.
I really dont think any of the 4 teams jostling for the 3rd and 4th positions in the EPL deserve it.

One of the three debutants in the expanded format, Burundi can be classified as minnows on the African football scene but they have recently shown that perhaps there is a steady of football in the country.
In 2014, The Swallows qualified for the CHAN, while their U20 male team made it to the group stages of that CAF U20 tournament earlier this year, in 2018 their female counterparts failed at the final stage to qualify for the FIFA women’s U20 World cup in France losing to Ghana in the last qualifying round.
Burundi made it out of a group that had Gabon, South Sudan and Mali with 2 wins and 4 draws also qualifying unbeaten, although they placed second Mali who finished atop the group.
Although many may not know of the team’s strength and weaknesses, they, however, possess their own fair share of quality players who can get the win if the big teams do not come to the party.
Players like former England youth international and Stoke City’s Saido Berahino, Fiston Abdul Razak who has 17 goals in 35 National team caps as well as young defender Christoph Nduwarugira can pop up with crucial goals. However, with Madagascar also in the group, it is hard to see Burundi qualify for R16 even as one of the best third-placed teams. Wow, Berahino has finally played for Burundi. When I was monitoring his career, he was planning to play for England. |

They always hve good players playing in good clubs in Europe.
From the days of Titi Camara who played for Liverpool to the days of the Bangouras.
Even now, Nigeria may not be better than them player for player but I expect SE to flog them.
Btw, Pogba has Guinean origin. |

Travel › Re: If You Haven't Entered Plane At 40, Life Has Passed You - Nigerian Man by Jarus(m): 2:37pm On Apr 20, 2019 |
Very wrong.
The patriach of our family entered plane only once, in 1964 at age 50.
He had never entered aeroplane at 40.
Life never passed him because he was a hardworking and modestly successful man. By 1958, he already had 2 houses, including a storey building, a very good house by the standard of that era. He also had shops and children in good schools.
Till today, there are many successful people in the villages and towns who don't care about aeroplane.
This is is myopic mindset in my view. |
