CareerRe: MSc In UK Versus N183k Job Offer: Advice Please by Jascon4: 8:19am On Sep 09, 2017
heo88:
Guy first and foremost, well done on getting the scholarship offer.

Secondly, you definitely have a dilemma on your hands, but on the balance of things I'd recommend you go to the UK and study the MSc.

From reading your write-up, I'm personally confident you could get similar jobs in Nigeria to what you currently have, upon graduation. Furthermore, you may even secure a better position, courtesy of your additional degree.

On the subject of the UK, I am a janded Nigerian, born and mostly bred there. If you want to be able to stay in the UK through a sponsored-visa after your degree, you will absolutely have to use style:

If I was you, I'd search on different companies that work in chemical engineering. I would then contact them and offer to work for them for free. You use the opportunity to increase your exposure to the work, even if you have to do some errands that you'd rather not do, like making tea, grabbing lunch for Oga etc. If your attitude is good, they may offer part-time paid employment after a short while during your course, and at which point they are pretty likely to sponsor you. Furthermore, once you find a gig initially, whether paid or unpaid, you can simultaneously seek paid work with other firms, as you're not just bringing them experience, but you're also demonstrating commitment and integrity by working for the first employer for free.

My advice will be to really analyse their operations in depth, understand the processes, and if possible, identify some shortcomings. This will likely result in them seeing you as a valuable member of their team. When you gist with them on lunch/recreational breaks, ensure you build a rapport; ask questions about 'UK' culture, find common ground subjects to discuss. Initially you may want to eavesdrop on casual conversations and this will help you in building healthy relationships with your colleagues. The reason I say this is because 'Brexit' is an ongoing issue, and the main reason for it is white poor and average people are angry with the UK powers, they feel marginalised, and so their vote last June was like a collective tantrum; just one done by adults. They are irrational scared of black people 'stealing' non-existent jobs (to believe this is true requires real imagination) and by you expressing an interest in their 'culture', they'll begin to see you as one of them. When it comes to seeking visa sponsorship after graduation, it becomes easier when you have a number of colleagues, particularly oyibo ones, rooting for you.

If you gain the exposure from working paid or unpaid, depending on how hard you work, you may be able to build a consultancy service for potential clients, producing reports/research and being paid fees in a self-employed capacity. This is another potential way of securing an entrepreneur visa.

I hope you can see the potential from what I've shared. Trust me either approach you take may be valuable, but it's the manner in which you approach either opportunity which is what counts most.

I wish you well with your eventual decision and if you want to ask any further questions, feel free to PM me etc.
Very sensible!
RomanceRe: I Am 30yrs, Earn 35k A Month And Will Marry A Student In A Months Time. by Jascon4: 3:12pm On Sep 07, 2017
princeeze1:
I am forced to respond to this thread, I work in a private firm, got married 2 yes ago on a 120k per month sal. Company restructured and slashed sal to 65k for me, mind you, those considered expendable lost their jobs. My wife, a student I am training, currently have a 1,year old son. Believe me we are not hungry.

How do we cope: a careful breakdown.
FOOD... We buy what we can consume every month end on this basis.
Rice-2 painter=#3600
Beans-1 painter=#1800
Garri-2panter=#1600
Yams. =#2000
Egg crate=#800
Red oil, big eva can =#900
G oil, same size. =#800
Ingredients, maggi, pepper, salt, onions etc=#1000
Total=#12500. Gas #2000 actually #1800 for 5kg bringing total to #14500

My son now eats adult food along golden morn
Golden morn 2 big pack=#1500
Milk...123 peak for kids 2=#1800
Usual drugs for children, bonabebe, paracetamol, cold drugs etc =#1500
Total=#4800

Actual cooking
We cook once in a month and stock in d freezer, all we need do everyday is boil rice and make EBA. Or rather cook yam porridge or yam n egg.
To cook soup, egusi and ogbon, Egusi 12cups is #1200, my wife also buys ogbono 1500,, tomato fruit and canned and fresh pepper for stew #1500.
Meat to cook all 3=#6000, other things she may buy like vegetables n kpomo etc#1000, total =#11200

Other bills
CTL cable TV #3200
Light =#1000
Waste mgt=500
Fuel for gen, 1k per WK=4000
My recharge n data=3000
Wify recharge n data=2000, I call more lol
Her hair and cream, I don't know her she partitions it is #4000
Total=#17700

Grand total is #48200, So I simply give her 50k monthly to pay for everything at the end of every month. And yes unless you are blind, you can see we are well covered, mind you she and not me drew up our new spending pattern, what a good wife should be able to do.

I save a mandatory 15000k every month, which is #180k per annum, I live in a 2 bedroom flat of 150k, with finance falling down, I simply rented out d guest room for 70k, call me greedy, mind you my guest room has no access to my living room and master room, I only share kitchen, now I only have to pay 80k per annum.
.I still have change.

I make bold to say we live very comfortably. Am I making plans to up my finances again YES. I only made this break down in support of op, from his breakdown, he may not live to even my now manageable standard, but he can, because he has focus.

Lastly we have a good ride, but mostly used socially and for church, I don't fuel or maintain my car from salary, occasional once in a while free cash maybe from office runs does that, everyone who works must have that loose free office change from one or two racket.

Moral.....
LIFE IS ABOUT VISION, WHOEVER CANNOT MAKE ANYTHING OUT OF 35K WILL MAKE NOTHING OUT OF 200K, BECAUSE THE HIGHER YOU GO, THE BIGGER YOUR TASTE. I CUT DOWN MY TASTE, WE HAD A PAID HOUSE MAID AND A LAUNDRY GUY TOO, COMBINE SALARY OF 25K, MY WIFE DOES THAT NOW, WE USED TO PUT ON GEN EVERY NIGHT THERE IS NO LIGHT, NOW UNLESS, THERE IS CONSECUTIVE OUTAGE, DUE TO FOOD IN D FRIDGE, NO NEED AND YES WE DO HAVE NEPA LIGHT AT LEAST 10 HOURS EVERYDAY, I USED TO DRIVE TO GO AND BUY ORDINARY AKARA, NO MORE, I USED TO BE AN OMELORA, NO MORE NOW.

IF YOU LACK FOCUS, YOUR EARNING POWER WILL STILL BE MEANINGLESS.
You have such a wonderful, understanding and thrifty woman. And I salute your coordination.

Apparently you have no knowledge of Aks. Esit Eket is one of the major oil producing area in Aks. There is an oil company operating there and there's a gas processing plant which was commissioned during GEJ administration.

CrimePolice In Ogun Arrest 3 In Possession Of Human Skull by Jascon4(op): 5:43pm On Jul 15, 2017
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three men for being in possession of two human skulls.The suspects, according to a statement in Abeokuta yesterday, by the Command’s spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, are Saibu Popoola, Aliu Ajiroba and Jimoh Ijiola.

Oyeyemi disclosed that the suspects were arrested when policemen attached to Ayetoro Division, on routine patrol, accosted the duo of Popoola and Ajiroba on a motorcycle along Idagba Olodo road with a bag that looked suspicious.

The suspects, the Police spokesman added, confessed that the skulls were given to them by Ijiola, a resident of Erinpa area of the town, adding: “Upon the information, the DPO of Ayetoro Division, Makinde Kayode, led detectives to the residence of the third suspect, where he was also arrested.”
It was gathered that the suspects got the skulls from neighboring Benin Republic with the intention of using it for money rituals.Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects.

I was already beginning to imagine the kind of relationships most guys go into, that makes their gfs always feel used.

If you ask me, I will say the girl is actually dumb...but the guy isn't any smarter, he is as dumb, if not more dumb than the girl. He should protect himself from the numerous results of unprotected sex. They deserve each other.
Yes, but the girl should be wiser if I am to draw an inference, since she would bear the brunt of the illicit act the most.

So...tell me, if you date a girl for years...invest your time, emotions, money, energy, body... everything and she leaves you for no just cause.

What would you say happened to you?

It's a contraceptive and like any other drug...excessive use of it comes with side effects. Yet some of the guys talkig nonsense here, sleep with their gfs wthout protection and she swallows this drug more than the communion.
Is the girl a minor? Does she not know the consequence of her action? Is she too naive not to know the possible result of unprotected sex? Was she raped?

permanent separation of soul from the body.Its a form of permanent sleep because the same thing occurs while sleeping.your soul which is the real you is temporarily seized by God and Go into unconsciousness.That is why

1.you can never tell the exert time you started sleeping because it not under your control.

2.dream is the perfect example of life after death.

so,when one dies,its the soul that is taken away not that the person existence get erased and the soul can be handled anyhow by the person that gave it to you and you will still feel the handling weither enjoyment or suffering like you do while dreaming and your body will be physically existing here just like people see your sleeping body but will not know what you are going through in the dream.
Go and read Ezekiel 18:20 then come back and reconcile your philosophy with said scripture.

Broke or not, respect each other. Money does not make anyone.. You can have all the money in the world, and still be unhappy. Money is good just like everything else, but if you're a miserable person, you will remain in misery no matter how much money you have.
I wish everyone on earth become billionaires, so that people will see that money does not solve all life's problems

Secondly, its equally essential for a woman to have money just as it is for a man. Making Money is not exclusively what a man should aspire for. Women should also hustle their way to the top. Men are not money making machines. Men are human-beings just like women, so why should it be their job to make money for you?
Regardless, everyone needs to have it at the back of their mind that, MONEY WILL NOT BRING HAPPINESS. Once you accept this, and you know what money means to you, go out there and work hard to get it
You have a matured and fantastic viewpoint. This, I would say is a reflection of your level of exposure and experience in life. Well-done.

Wrong analogy! The drilling machine could also get broken while drilling. There is the risk of wear and tear of the drilling machine as it carries out its job. It expends a lot of energy and many running parts are eroded in the process. More so, the drilling machine is expensive and not quite easy to get. Therefore, it isn't a one sided thing my friend.

His promise was that he was going to build world class hospitals and government officials will no longer travel abroad for treatment again.
The PDP left any funds for such hospitals to be built within 2 years?
The answer is capital NO.
They left empty treasury.
Did they build any world class hospital in their 16 years?
The answer is also capital NO.
Aren't you people ashamed of always coming up with this feeble defense? Was he expecting the treasury to be filled to the brim by the time he comes to power? How is the empty treasury financing his regular and frivolous trips and medical bills in the UK? Is Nigeria no longer earning from sales of crude oil, custom duty and Nimasa etc?

So you mean there is not a single kobo in the treasury and Nigeria is not making any revenue from anywhere to be able to bring at least a single hospital to international repute? Is there no more potent excuses to give than always making ridiculous reference to the past?

Why did he not cancel his trip because the past did not leave enough money in the treasury? Is he financing his trips and medical tourism with his personal cash? Because things were unruly in the past, by your own standards means it is excusable for things to be unruly now? Haven't the high-pitched squeal of your partisanship reached your eardrums yet? Does it not occur to you that when people run out of what to say or have no idea of what to do they would normally look for a scapegoat to blame? Aren't you just excessively subservient and obsequious?
