PoliticsRe: Eze Ndigbo Of Lagos State Tasks Fashola On Ethnic Harmony by jason123: 5:57pm On Nov 09, 2011
@Afam

I have followed your post for a few days, even after the "bashing" on other threads yesterday and today, you remained calm, free and intelligent but on this occasion, you have disappointed yourself.

I have always thought people were Lagosians first before all this ethnic junk. I tend to follow Alhaji's POV on this thread. He is right. The creation of such an office will make people ethnically aware. I'm sure you don't want that because we all know what will happen after that, don't we? We'll go back to the post 1993 election, early 2000's and ethnic disparity. Let's try to avoid ethnic tension.

With that said, I believe Dr. Nwachukwu was wrong! Must everything in Nigeria be about ethnicityhuh Please, let's leave states like Lagos, Delta and Rivers alone. Let things take place NATURALLY in those states. For the sake of dignity. At least, us abroad can boast small.
Thanks Afam.

ok i can dig out news about Libya oil which is the best in the world forget Nigerian news

i asked again show me how much gas reserve in SW region?

Why are you asking me? I didn't say anything about gas or SW. Re-read my posts. I simply had to make people understand the implications of splitting or lumping us together. We share different destinies in some aspects. As Edo.girl said, A very sharp knife will be used to split parts Edo/Delta if any wants to lump us together. Someone like Chyz will be uncomfortable in Odua likewise me among others, in Biafra.
Secondly, I posted about resource, Paper and real resources.

I did not compare the SS or SW with any region even the SE, I used that to explain the power of propaganda.

That's a summary.

Talk to Dapo and co about gas and SW. cool

jason bonny light is not the best in the world, Libya oil what is it called again? do your studies cos they have the best oil in the world,
One of the best. http://www.bonnylightcrudeoil.com/ 3rd paragraph
Bonny Light crude oil is considered to be one of the best crude oil in the world because it is easy to refine as a result of its low sulfur content. Due to this factor, a lot of buyers from around the world are always interested in Nigeria crude.

how much oil does ondo state produce? cos most of the oil they claim is from offshore

as i said b4 lagos is not among cos federal govt investment if not it will end up like ekiti now how much oil ondo state claims they produce?
Guy, ALL SOUTHERN STATES WITH ACCESS TO SEA HAVE OIL AND GAS! except Edo, Abia etc and thats because of the River basins in those states among other factors.

*shrug*

Abeg, let us hear this gas story once you are actually making money from it. This thread is not for tales by moonlight.

Anyway, gas isn't that as profitable as oil. And I don't remember the reserves being that huge.

SE doesn't produce much oil. Looks like most of Nigeria's oil production is from Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Bayelsa. None of which are in the SE. . .
Dapo, you just hit the nail on its head. Almost every state in Nigeria "produce" one thing or the other ON PAPER. Do you know that ALL THE ROADS IN THE COUNTRY come from Ondo, Ogun and Edo?? I'm sure you didn't know that. Do you, for one second think Nigeria import Bitumen/ sand oil/Heavy oilhuh

For your info, those three states have the third largest reserves in the world.

The bitumen producing states in the country are Ondo, Ogun and Edo.

Vanguard gathered that the country has the third largest bitumen deposits in the world with Venezuela and Canada, coming first and second, respectively.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/11/bitumen-communities-seek-fgs-protection/
It's just that Bitumen is harder to refine if you want petroleum spirit(P.S) or petrol, hence, its easier to use Bonny light crude oil (the best in the world) for P.S production.

I seriously dey laugh oo! I can remember when someone said Ogun has Gold. And so? What has been the benefit of that in Nigeria??

We need to start talking about "ACTUAL RESOURCES" not "paper or theoretical" resources. My two cents!

Yeah that was my impression too. Most of the oil in Delta sef comes from Itsekiri. Incidentally, this is why I have mixed feeling about Uduaghan. He seems to be a very bad governor and crook. But after all, is it not his own Itsekiri people's money he is stealing?  undecided So they are the ones who can condemn him the most.
Also, its a very volatile place hence we are all trying to drop our individual ethnic groups and be Deltans first (better still, Bendel! My preference) before our respective ethnic groups. Uduagan is the Delta state governor not Itsekiri governor so he cannot favour any ethnic group or else, there will be trouble. Remember, Ibori (Uhrobo) is his cousin. This shows you how mixed will all are. . .

Dapo, its a lot more complex than that. You are looking at it from the ethnic lens and it should not be so. Ijaws and Ilajes produce 25% and 10% respectively in delta state but more on that later. You see, Delta state is not about "make I favour my people" because your "people" alone did not get you there. Ijaws en-mass voted for Uduagan also, among other ethnic groups.

Igbos will ascertain their sovereignty over Rivers state, there are no two ways about that!

Realistically, if Nigeria scatters, most of Rivers will join the SE. Delta North will join the SE.

Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers will try to avoid joining the SE (Akwa Ibom especially has no reason to, since it is by far the richest state in Nigeria, it appears.)

Edo, I think there is a solid chance they'd team up with SW in some sort of federation. Itsekiri I suspect would also team up with us. Same with Western Kogi and probably Kwara.

As for Urhobo, Ijaw, etc, i don't know what they'd do.
To be honest, you are not far from the truth. Read this, it's a Northerner's analysis though. ( http://www.baobabafricaonline.com/If_Nigeria_should_disintegrate.htm )

Itsekiris and Edos and very likely Uhrobos and maybe western Ijaws; MOVE TOGETHER!

That map is VERY inaccurate. How can you say Itsekiris do not have access to sea, yet, irhobo is their name in Uhrobo which means "those that float on water"? Also Ilajes are not present in Ondo? Are you saying, Ijaws have more land than Uhrobos in Delta? Igbos don't have access to sea, yet, they are on Bonny Island? Haba! You are better than this!

Hehe

Jason, you are in denial about what your people will decide to do if/when naija scatters grin

I can smell it grin

Anyway, let's let sleeping dogs lie. We'll cross that bridge once we get to it.
Bruv, there is no denial, at all. Bendel/Benin or Edo republic will be the best option! I chose Southern Nigeria first for a lot of reasons.
I talk to Itsekiris/Uhrobos and Edo peeps everyday here and I know their POV. Most prefer One Nigeria, others Niger-delta republic (especially the Uhrobos) and lastly, Odua.

To verify my claims, take a look at people like Kpogede who can speak Uhrobo and Itsekiri?? Then, you'll realise that trying to split the MW will be a problem.
PoliticsRe: Can The North Stand Alone? by jason123: 2:11am On Nov 09, 2011
Beaf, Warri port is connected to the Can-tin port in Lagos. Port-harcourt's port to Akwa-Ibom's port (not too sure about the second)

Beaf:
Maybe na magic dem go use connect parts of Warri, all of Koko, and parts of Sapele to Ondo state. Na winsh?
lol!

If we split, it would be best for the whole of the Middle Belt and South to stick together.
But if the SW leadership continues to plot a separate identity and direction that's different to the rest of the South and umbilically connected to the core-North, then we're cool with MB/SE/SS. If the MB wants its own country, that's understandable and we'll be cool with natural allies in the SE.
If non of the above work, then its the old Bendel as Jason123 is suggesting, right now I only see SE/SS though.
@ red highlight
That is exactly what I have been trying to convey to you. To split the South will be very difficult, hence, Southern Nigeria should always be the first option.

@black highlighted
Politics should have not effect on cultural identity! What will happen to states like Ondo where Ijaws have a stalk in? or Edo or Delta where some Ilajes reside and produce 10% of the states oil?

How will an Usen man, Bini, Itsekiri or Ilaje man or an Akoko Edo man fit into a SE/SS aka Biafra part two?

@ green highlight

That should be our second option. If we don't fit in here or there, we should rather remain on our own and communicate between Biafra and Odua. Some groups might feel affinity for Biafra while other, Odua and some MB undecided.

It is not up to @haka_nai to disprove the data. It is up to any of you who dispute it to do so.

In any case, is this IGR data not reported by each of the states to the CBN? And are state budgets not made publicly available?

Someone is going to have to demonstrate why this data is screwy, rather than just claiming it w/o and proof.

Anyway, those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Not a fan of the north, but the #s do not lie. If the North cannot stand alone, then neither can the SE.
Dapo, the Bendelites and SW peeps are cool. As you can see, we all can be independent of eachother. The MW is rich and the SW is also rich. Good for us all!

Remember, one of Henoric's post (an Edo guy), "You cannot separate Edos and Yorubas. They move together". Also Kpogede. . . . Not to worry, if Southern Nigeria or One Nigeria (the North is more viable than what you think and some states in the North generate what 3-4states in other regions generate), then Bendel (God willing). And lastly Odua as the last choice.

It's 2015, I'll miss people like Dele giwa and Enahoro! cry  God bless their souls.

Even the western Ijaws don't believe in all this rubbish. What is happening now is simply for political convenience.

Lagos — I am in love with the Itsekiris for the same reason that my soul is with the Binis. The Temisans, Gbubemis, Oritsejolomis, Afejukus and the Apatas, the one with 'K' in between 'A' and 'P' are my bosom friends. And I am tied up, for life, with the Olleys and with whom they may be eternally related.

Our different destinies clashed and have remained entangled in the course of race that fate play with humanity. I can no longer ignore their variables as I can ignore my being, my very essence. I shall depart this sinful world sharing their burden. But I ruminate on personal sentiments.

. . . . and that is why some people are hell-bent on lumping us together even after countless refusals from I, Kpogede (Delta), Edo. girl, Gareth (Edo) etc . . .I seriously dey laugh o!

This thread really exposed me to the realities of the true power of propaganda and the internet. So, even the poorest regions (not saying any region is poor but this is terms of simple analysis) can claim to be the richest by shouting the loudest.

So, even the North is richer than the SE and since the SE said they are the most populous in Nigeria, this makes the North even richer and the SE poorer. We can argue from now till eternity but facts are facts!

Secondly, with all due respect Dapo, states like Ekiti (also Ebonyi and some other SEastern, among other Northern states)should be scraped. It does not make sense to have such a state in Nigeria.

Thirdly, some SW and some Northern states deserve some credits. They have tried, even though they do not produce oil, they still did better than some oil producing states. Kudos.

Concerning Lagos, Delta and Rivers: These states should have access to limitless funds from the FG because they are basically what "Nigeria" is ,in terms of economy (Imagine Lagos or Rivers alone, generating more revenues than entire zones shocked).

And finally Dapo, don't believe what you read on this internet. The reality is VERY different from NL. You hear people shouting Iguwe ocha up and down, yet, about 90% of them cannot call a Rivers man Igbo without a fight. Same with the Yorubas and some Kwara peeps especially Ilorin peeps who change their names. Even people that are hating on ACN do not know that ACN already has a sit in DELTA STATE (http://allafrica.com/stories/201104290648.html) among others (plateau, Benue, Akwa Ibom, Adamawa  http://actioncongressnigeria.org/the-elected/federal-house-of-representatives/).

Just wait and see how things will go if we do not have Southern Nigeria or ND-rep (that is, if Nigeria splits because I can see that the North is actually more useful than what most people think). Borders can be drawn and re-drawn but OLD alliances can NEVER be broken. Dey watch!
