Always visit nairaland job section. Finally prepare yourself also for sales and marketing jobs, they ain't as bad as people paint them. Infact they make you rise faster in career because its all about who can deliver result. Open your mind when u are searching for job. quote author=bchi post=41342129]I came to Lagos in August in search of job, after I concluded One year nysc programme. I left my mom and my kid brother to relief my mom expenses on taking care of us with my aunt( mom elder sis) and granny(mom's mother). My mom is a single mother( lost husband at early stage of marriage like 5years after) and also an average civil servant, who has been taking care of every one and our needs. I left them to Lagos to hustle and also support them. Since I came to Lagos in August, I have been searching for job and spending my little service on transport, paper work(photocopy and writing/ rewriting of CVs) and feeding most times. Here in Lagos, I live with A cousin brother(from mom side) who i respect alot and love most among my other cousins. He accommodates me and sometimes drops #500 for cooking when need to , i have to manage it ( everything is expensive but I have to squeeze) and cook two days meal for both of us. Since this month, he has been get upset over anything and i sense he not happy of my joblessness and he's fed up of my staying at home sometimes ( I stays back cos of no transport fare to go out and I was told to check back some places I tried by January). My hope is in January and I believe I must get job by January with the faith I have. My cousin brother came back yesterday 24 Dec and told me, he's travelling to villa that when he's back, I will tell him why i came Lagos. Before leaving he drops #500 for Christmas cooking. I have endure enough staying with him by eating like a beggar because in my house we eat 3square meals everyday. Food is not our problem,Christmas day mom will prepare a big chicken, salad and drinks for us. I'm saying here is that am not after food but what he told me. Now I sense that he doesn't what me to stay in his place again. As it stands, I don't have anywhere to go and I really want to work in Lagos, am not lazy and I dislike staying at home. That's why I went for aviation course ( Ticket booking ), So I can get job since my grade is poor ( my bad mistake)but I believe my destiny is not tie to it. I don't know what to do and where to go. I have been crying all day. PLEASE I NEED YOUR NICE ADVICE Pardon my errors. Thanks Sorry for the long piece.... Mind you marriage is not my priority but I need to work for myself , I don't love depending on any one #NoLiability
|

maasoap:what date was that, mine was October 2nd |
sebastine15:@Op first of all hope none of your names is sabestian because u may be found eventually if this case is brought to the notice of the management. I graduated from that same department like 5 years ago and we heard a lot of unpalatable stories about this same man, we learnt then that he travelled abroad for his doctorate. Infact we really thanked our stars we didn't encounter him during our 4 years program. He co-authored some books on algebra with professor Ajala, such as elementary linear algebra, introduction to ring theory etc. We really enjoyed Prof Ajala so much taking this same course he is taking, Baba is mature and welcoming God bless my Prof of life. He shaped my orientation about dressing in native attire with my fila(cap), oh that man is ever neat and sociable infact he inspired me to buying Mercedes Benz as my first car. Av not been be to my alma mater close to 4years now after convocation, God bless my lecturers. Back to the topic, bring the attention of the HOD to this, he will be talked to by the likes of Prof Okafor, Prof Ajala, Prof Okunuga and Prof Olaleru(although he too is a bit sadistic but he his of age now I guess). This is ICT age and nobody should be allowed to drag a successful system backward. Afterwards the likes of Dr Akewe had taken that same course before his arrival if I'm correct, so wats his stress!!! Abeg he should be tamed joor! The Unilag he left like 10years ago is not the same, he should be adviced properly or else social media will just cheaply scandalized him. My regards to Dr Gbademu, Dr Fenuga, Dr Osilagun, Dr Bridget,Dr Akarawak etc also to Prof Kenku if he is still in the system. God bless Unilag!!! |
maasoap:Bro this thing is getting real day by day, I'm very sure by the grace of God next year will be a very eventful year for us. I luv how you are really updating the house, God bless our hassles. |
@Op I really feel your pain from the bad experience you had as regards your house help. But some salient points needs to be raised here, irrespective of what you do for people a human being is still and will remain a human being. The young girl in question felt cheated that while will she be denied education! Remember this is city where education is priced. Forget that thing that they are poor, poverty those not take away common sense all the time. Even if you don't adopt her she may probably still find her way round school may be as an external candidate of sort. So you sending her to a conventional schooling method for her may not necessarily be viewed as a privileged by her. Hence the reason she absconded. Now considering the nature of job and that of your husby which gives little or no time to properly manage the home I doubt if any future househelp will want you to trade her going to school with your own career arrangements. It will surely backlash again, or what would you do if she is writing her exams nko? And how long do you wish to do this? Why not speak to your husband for two of you to review your work life, child rearing is serious work my sister. Ask our mothers then how they mould us in the 80's and be assured they gave us 100percent dedication that's why we panned out to be of good morals today. Everything is not money! Social vices abound nowadays that kids pick up things easily, let monitor our kids so as to give us peace of mind tomorrow. As my granny will say " always put yourself in a position in life where money is the one looking for you and not the other way round", So sorry for my epistle, it is well.
|
Fast forward to this time, d official assignment that would take me away from the country was close. I couldn't risk leaving her in Lagos with my super active toddler for almost two weeks that I would be away. I had to take them to my husband. Early on Thursday, 19th, I received a call that my girl had left home with her belongings and she left a note that she was angry with me that I did not let her go to school and that if not that she loved my son ehn..... My husband's job is a shift- based job and he was on night duty to be back home by 8am the morning she left. A neighbour called my husband who was at work that the girl took my son to them very early in d morning that we sent her on an errand and that they should borrow her N500. They took my son from her and told her to wait for my husband to return. They said they did not know when she left. The girl scattered the whole house took all the pieces of meat in d pot, the juice packs at home. I Knew she wouldn't get money, my husband isn't as careless. My husband spoke with her mum that didn't sound surprised and all she said was that she would scold her when the girl comes home. Yes, d girl is home now. I was devastated and destabilized for two days. I never ever maltreated this girl. My conscience is as clear as a gallon of distilled water. Well, my son is now with my mum. My mum also spoke with her mum that the girl said neighbors were calling her omo-odo (house girl). She left the 6th day she got there. We stay in a compound of 5 flats where everyone minds his business. So who called her a house-girl. I think the mistake we made was that we got her a phone and even loaded the phone. My husband said he noticed she was always calling someone and he once heard her telling the receiver the address of where she was. I really wish to visit her mum when I return and I hope to see her and ask her questions. I really appreciate my family for staying with me throughout this period and I'm glad I'm not hypertensive maybe I'd have lost this pregnancy. And I thank God most that she didn't hurt my son because I never hurt her. Well, it's all good. Life goes on. I am not trying to discourage people from getting house helps.... @Op I really feel your pain from the bad experience you had as regards your house help. maupe:Now I think I got what I wanted all this while. Fellow nairalanders this moniker I'm qouting is MAUPE OGUN OF SUNRISE DAILY ON CHANNELS TV. You just exposed yaaaa self... |
This rebuttal is absolutely on point and fantastic, its high time foreign media begins to be objective when writing stories about Africa as if nothing good can ever come out of her. People who are widely traveled confessed that manning the city of New York and Lagos is almost the same. Abeegiii make people free this Ambode of a guy joor and let him concentrate on his job. The problems of Lagosians is that we are comparing him with Fashola and that is absolutely unnecessary because everyone got their style of leadership, his predecessor used 8years and he is just spending like 7months, haha its on fair. And if I may ask wat do we really want as a people, we all know the LASTMA guys are evil and corrupt to the marrow and because the new government frown at corruption the turn themselves to saboteurs. Lets do things orderly like true Democrat and civilized people. We all have our PVCs by 2019 if he doesn't perform we show him the way out. But I believe the man will deliver, lastly before I forget people complain Fashola is too too elitist but Ambode truly identify with the masses. Lets give him a chance. Eko oni baje ooo!!! |
xyz098:from osodi take a bus going to ketu mile 12 and drop at Ketu bus stop, then cross the express to the other side which is called Ikosi and ask any bike man to take you to TVC shikena!!! |
zoomman:oh I see, wishing you the best!!! |
zoomman:you said you submitted a soft copy to their website, which of the companies are you referring to? Nigerian breweries or Workforce. Why I'm saying this is because this job wasn't advertised at all, it was an internal job placement infact if you scroll up this particular thread a particular guy snapped the photo of the job advert as it was posted on the notice board. And I doubt if workforce advertised it either , maybe you have your CV in their database, but notwithstanding I think the hard copy you submitted did the magic. Wishing you all the best. |
zoomman:how did you submit the soft copy? |
toludadon:pls how did u guys applied? On your question u may search through nairaland on previous Nigerian breweries sales representative recruitment the one they did earlier this year handled by workforce. I partook in that one because it was made public but the questions na die and people really complained maybe that's why they went coded this time, so how did you applied so that next time we too will put our ears on the ground. Good luck to all nairalanders writing the test but kept quiet till the authentic info came late.Even though some people mentioned it on other threads that Nigerian breweries is doing under G employment I believe people like you the invitees could have authenticated the gist probably somebody like who lives in Lagos and badly needs a job could have found my way to Iganmu which is NB headquarters to submit my application but I guess its destiny at work. Wishing you guys success all the way!!! |
witorwitoutyou:my guy why did you just post the information naah, it is irrelevant now, and God knows I really want to change job this year. Pls can we still submit tomorrow, anything is possible in life, they may still need more entries who knows. |
I guess the application is closed. From that advert entry closes on the 13th of this month. I am so sad this came so late. |
trusted:bro how was the interview? Wat is the nature of the interview, is it written first, then oral follows later the same day? Wat type of questions are been asked, I mean the written and the oral. I am for Lagos region but yet to get invited, but still hopeful. |
Valthegreat:the company is real bro, I applied too but yet to receive an invite, they produce bobo drinks for kids and yoghurt. concerning the pay, I dnt knw abt that but it is a very big company at Agege. If there is any number in the invite u may call it. pls give it a try, also google their name to intimate yourself of them. Patiently waiting for my own invite too. Good luck to you. |
May Allah increase your knowledge. |
Beautiful house. |
Any good student of knowledge who truly analyze a subject matter dis-passionately will appreciate Barcanista's political sagacity and evaluations. Though I share APC ideology but that doesn't mean whatever they have done is uhuru, take the case of the governors who said they won't publicly declare their assets, I think they should be condemned in strong terms for dragging our democracy backward abit. But be that as it may I want every youth to use this opportunity of political tsunami in our country to learn purposeful leadership. Because we are the leaders of tomorrow and we need brilliant guys like Tonye for a good political engineering. Leave it or take it the guy is good and have learnt a lot from him. So passionate about government and leadership, so pls barcanista criticize objectively because at the end NIGERIA should be the ultimate winner. |
The rich have a way of networking their kids. Tools from a royal family and from those pictures the groom's father is former NCAA boss Harold Demerun. that man na staunch cherubim & seraphim member. Tools must be ready to wear white garment ooo. Lol Wishing them happy married life... |
orlaryhincah:sorry bro, I feel ur pain. Wat is ur grade? Is it second class lower? Pls share... |
spartanian:bro feel your pain. May be that's why I wasn't invited after having the sales experience, lets not be deterred, this is just an entry level and such is expected. Lets continue to add value to ourselves so as to compete for mid-level career opportunities. But personally second class lower is not a poor degree. Why don't they invite me and I would have blasted the test, it can't be harder than workforce. Lets move on... |
The hr said something about their company policy, she was surprised on how I even got an invitation but I then informed her that I have other technical qualifications/ Training in Telecom Sector apart from my poor 1st degree in Biochemistry. Asked me to show her my other certificates and CV nd reviewed it, etc. sorry bro, so they don't take second class lower. But do you have any idea maybe more people may still be invited? or wats the company policy she talking about. Moreover personally I don't tink 2-2 is a poor degree. May God open His way for us. Pls reply |
spartanian:my bro pls expanciate further on this university degree/ class of degree because I was so surprised that I wasn't invited because I Av the pre recusite experience. Though I studied maths/ stats Bt I'm a trained sales person, although I graduated with a second class lower, but they were silent on it during application that was why I went ahead to apply. So I was so surprised I was not called, infact I over qualified self. But God dey sha, rather than wasting ur time and resources they should have said minimum of 2-1. I tink I know why I wasn't called, I would have blasted their test. Pls reply... |
I'm yet to be invited but by God's grace I know my invite will definitely roll in. Concerning the function specific test you guys should read on sales, business studies, economics and little accounting plus simple financial arithmetic. Though I haven't done MTN test before but with workforce and dragnet experience garnered the test will not pass those 5 parts I mentioned. God help us all |
topemirates:tanx man |

Im confused here though I studied maths/stat but a sales man by career and I made a 2-2. Pls was ur application successful? Pls tell me wat and wat u filled, I really want to change job this year, pls reply |
