HealthIs Alcoholism A Disease Or Self Induced? by Jaybee2412(op): 1:05am On Aug 31, 2009
Do you drink? If yes, do you think alcoholism has affected your life? Do you have control over your life? Eventually do you think alcoholism is due to your own self indulgence or something you cannot control?
PoliticsRe: Can Nigeria Police Be Reformed? How? by Jaybee2412(op): 12:26am On Aug 31, 2009
ocelot2006:
the Nigeria Police Force is NOT a civilian establishment but rather a PARAMILITARY force created to preserve law and order and uphold the law. Police men and women (officers, NCOs, and rank-and-files) are NOT civilians.
What exactly do you mean? Does that make them unaccountable for their actions?
PoliticsCan Nigeria Police Be Reformed? How? by Jaybee2412(op): 5:54pm On Aug 30, 2009
Nearly everyone in Nigeria has experienced the failure of the police to carry out their duty to uphold the law - from aiding and abetting election Mal-practices to different stories of extortion, bribery and failure to investigate reported crimes to logical conclusion. Everyday we witness how our human rights are being violated by our law enforcement officers. They arbitrarily arrest and imprison people which in many cases resulted in extra - judicial killings.

We cannot allow this jungle justice to continue if we are to believe the rule of law being touted by our government. So what are the prospect of improving the performance and conduct of our police and how do we go about it?

PoliticsUk Trial Of Ibori's Female Accomplices by Jaybee2412(op): 11:30am On Aug 30, 2009
I f the 'Rule of Law' practised in Nigeria will not bring Ibori and his accomplices to justice, the long arms of law will certainly catch up with them somewhere else. Then can run, but they can't hide forever!

UK Trial of Ibori's female accomplices and UK lawyer to start in September 2009
Written by Sahara Reporters, New York
Saturday, 29 August 2009 19:51

James Ibori and 1st wife, Tessy
With a background of spurious delay tactics, attempted intervention by the Yar’Adua government, and a complete overhaul of James Ibori’s legal team, the Southwark crown Court in London will commence the trial of James Ibori’s female accomplices: Bimpe Pogoson (Personal Assistant on confidential matters), Theresa Nkoyo Ibori (Wife), Mrs. Udoamaka Okoronkwo (Mistress), Christie Ibie-Ibori (sister) and UK lawyer, Bhadresh Gohil, will commence in London on September 21 2009 .

The Proceeds of Crime Unit of the Metropolitan Police in London and the Crown Prosecution Service have labored to bring the women to trial in the money-laundering case that involved 70 million British Pounds Sterling in funds looted by Ibori directly and through his cronies from Delta State.
Bhadresh Gohil, Ibori and Mistress, udoamaka

Ibori is considered a suspect–at-large in the forthcoming trial, which has led to the freezing of his accounts and the seizure of a Bombardier Challenger private jet he ordered from Canadian jet makers, Bombardier Inc., for $20 million.

Metropolitan police sources said the trial will be an interesting one that would show how the Nigerian government, under Yar’Adua, has gone a great length to shield an international money launderer. A Nigerian analyst told Saharareporters at the weekend it would also be interesting to see how the Nigerian government, at a time it is embarking on its much-criticised rebranding exercise, would react to what could be considerable international embarrassment.

PoliticsIs The Halliburton Saga Dead? by Jaybee2412(op): 8:25pm On Aug 29, 2009
Since the government of Nigeria instituted a high level investigation about the scandal, nothing has been heard about the case. One begins to wonder whether the case is dead and buried as usually the case with so many corruption cases. Please click on this link below to read the editorial of Vanguard Newspaper.

Can a pastor really heal the blind or preform miracles like Jesus Christ? Or is it all about deceiving people to get followership and make more money. Do you still believe that they can perform miracles just like Jesus Christ?

PoliticsRe: Atedo Peterside Knocks Out Soludo by Jaybee2412(m): 1:31pm On Aug 29, 2009
The problem we have with most of our institutions in Nigeria is lack of continuity. Each newly appointed official would not see anything good in policy and approach of his predecessor but to look for ways and manners to discredit and rubbish whatever programme that was in place. Lamido Sanusi was part of the banking industry in Nigeria while Soludo was Governor. Didn't Sanusi have the right to air his opinion about what was going on in the industry then? Why wait till he became Governor before blowing the lid and exposing these toxic loans? I bet he knew what was going on then.
Mind you, I really support what he was doing about the five banks but that doesn't mean that Soludo should be pacified completely. To advance the financial standing of this country among the international community the statement Atedo Peterside was making in the London Financial District will not help. You cannot just go the outside world to wash your dirty clothes. What he should be doing is to give credit to where credit belongs by ascertaining the benefits and achievements of Soludo's banking consolidations that has given some confidence to the capital base standings of our banking institutions . He should also be assuring the international community that we have just got another competent risk manager to continue where Soludo stopped. Financial world is a very sensitive world, any unguided utterances could spell a doom for Nigeria. Our Central Bank Governors whether past or present should be portrayed as very competent people and not as morons

At least the minister of information should protest the Ad - and maybe request an apology and retraction. I just don't believe a major corporation like sony can be this careless.
She would find it difficult to protest because she had done a deal of N8billion with Sony to upgrade NTA's SD Cameras into HD. Except if it's not a shady deal. Moreover rebranding is all about you poor folks not to be foul mouthing Nigeria, not for a big corporation like Sony, they can say whatever they like about our country as long as our officials are under their payroll. Sut! angry
You cann't believe that this is coming from a company that is raking billions of dollars from Nigeria. We don't need to sue them we just stop dealing in their products until they apologise and withdraw the ad.
Now we have become the laughing stock in the community of nations, this is just the beginning for a nation that refuses to heal her ills.

Extract from OGA DELE'S RESPONSE
As for those worrying about my personal contributions to the development of Nigeria, I humbly direct them to check my activities on facebook by loggin in to DELE MOMODU, and, or OVATION INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE(LOUD FOR A PURPOSE),
I have been in detention for fighting for democracy in Nigeria. I was similarly forced into exile. Those in power today were not those who risked their all for Nigeria.
Why did he relocate to Ghana? - that is very unpatriotic Mr Momodu
There are lots of people like you who had been imprisoned one time or the other due to the nature of your profession, but it does n't prove that you love this country to foster her development and the operation of a good democratic system. Besides you were incarcerated by the same people you are now praising; in other words you have compromised your position as a seasoned journalist, and had joined the cabal of those unpatriotic Nigerians. Tell me what have you done to defend democracy in your dear country Nigeria? Your being forced into exile was a case of dog eat dog.
PoliticsRe: ASUU - Students Threaten To Disrupt U-17 World Cup by Jaybee2412(m): 6:23pm On Aug 28, 2009
I think taking such action would not be the right thing to do by now. Where have they been all these time until the situation in our educational system deteriorated to this level of rot. They have folded their arms watching these corrupt politicians getting into power and taking away their futures from them. They had been busy involving themselves in cultism and other trivial activities that have got nothing to do with their educational pursuits. Gone are the days of 'ALI MUST GO' when students would go to any length to see that their rights were not trampled upon. They would unleash mayhem to any government official who think he could short change them. All we have now are cowards threatening to disrupt the source of joy of their junior ones. If they know they are intelligent, strong and determined enough to shape their own future, they should do everything to get the attention of the greedy politicians to change their ways. The executive and the lawmakers are the ones to face, not the innocent U-17s

Your comments are too insensitive and naive; We are talking about a twenty year young lady who out of deception might have been lured into being a mule. We are also talking about the lives of two human beings potentially at stake! You should be more empathetic of your fellow human beings for whatever reasons for their plight!
