Romeo3: the problem is greed.
you do not own a car. you are driving for someone. or you are driving HP for someone and you want to make millions while driving another persons car?
majority of lagos uber drivers are dumb by default.
you are dumb if you do not know lagos roads very well and you cannot use gps very well and you decide to join uber just because you heard there was money in it.
these things require Just more than the ability to drive. being able to drive doesnt make you an uber driver. you have to be smart.
for christ sake majority of these guys cannot even use the uber drivers app. all they are interested in is to just tap the circle any time a request comes in.
price reduction + incentives + promotions = more money.
if more money isnt involved no one would bring it up. its like these people also forget that price reduction also means a reduction in the value of the 25% that uber collects.
in the former price regime on a 2000 naira trip uber makes 500.
in the new reduced fares where a 2000 naira trip now costs 1000 naira does uber still make 500? no. they make 250.
does any one think a company like uber will set up a business model that will make them lose money?
You said it, they won't bring up a model that will make them lose money. So if they were making just 500 from a single trip of 2000 within half an hour before, they now have multiple say 3-4×, so uber will now make 3×250=750 every 30mins which is greater than the 500 made previously. All in all, think this current regime is a beta test, if it doesn't pat them, they'd tweak it a bit again. "No one" enters a biz to fail. So OlugbengaE is also on point. Make una call truce |

OlugbengaE: So I picked up a lady yesterday from Ikeja. We passed through yaba and this girl said she wants to buy things from the market I refused telling her she didn't tell me before we left. Anyway i agreed so I parked at the market o waiting for her. Then the area boys came saying parking is 300. I said gwen. After about 15 mins the girl came back and I told her to pay the 300 this girl refused ooo saying she cant pay at all that I should run them over. She started cursing me oo that I am fool this and that. I just smiled I told her I cant run them over. She said I was too lenient that other cab drivers will no listen to them but just run over.
Anyway she paid them 200 cursing and abusing me.
The cheap girl put his leg ontop of my dashboard But oga you sef no try. Why will you accept to pay more than 200 or 100 to area boys for a quick park? You should be shrewd when dealing with those outlaws |

Travel › Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by jayooh: 7:49am On May 22, 2017 |
bellong: You are better off buying return ticket without IOM. Buying each way will result to penny wise pounds foolish.
One way ticket is usually very expensive. If you get a deal with IOM for the go, adding the cost of the back ticket will be way more than buying the return direct.
When are you traveling? I can ask a travel agent friend if possible you can get a good return ticket deal.
@All,
According to the Immigration minister yesterday, the occupation lists will be reviewed again in July. There is probability of removing or adding occupations.
Fingers crossed. Oops@bolded As regards the ticketing ish, will he still be able to get another one-way ticket after his return to naija when he eventually wants to move finally? Thats one reason I suggested one way from naija, then return ticket from Oz if he know when he is finally making the move. Just saying |

jukeblam: No, IOM won't help with return ticket; only one-way tickets and it has to be on a migration visa. What if he buys one way going, after activation he then s33ks seeks a return ticket from Oz? |

earthrealm: Yup..this is similar to what i intend to do. Have given 1 builder the drawings to come up with a quote. Intend to get quotes from 1 or 2 more builders...and then 1 QS...will then comsider the builder whos rates are closer to the QS.... Getting trusted/reliable/skilled people isnt easy....thus i still intend to cover any loose ends by having my own inhouse estimate/rule of thumb from folks here...hence my throwing the wuestion open to the house. I appreciate all the input/advices... Cheers Make sense |

Normal way to settle price war. *have an independent engineer/ consultant/ QS who can give you a detailed bill of quantities and estimate, to whom it is clear that his job is to do that and not actually to build or construct. That's what is Don in a tender process. Before you are called to bid, the in-house engineers or procurement officer or whosoever must have had his/her own quantities and estimate which will be used as a benchmark. The nearest bidder to this benchmark wins ideally, bit anything can happen in naija Just saying |

WorldAmbassador: Using steel is still a welcome idea It probably will eliminate the issue of termites and warping of wood that we see from the types of wood that we use to support our roof. The cost will definitely be prohibitive, especially in our country that rely 100% on importation. But Oga Spyder and jayooh, i'm all for using roofing materials that'll be stronger and lead to a more stable structure. Termites infestation or warping are mere issues compared to cost control. I think this 2 problem have been well dealt with in providing solution and their continuous existence will only be as a result of ineptitude on the part of the wood loggers, millers and end users. Once I wood is properly produced (logging, processing: wetting and subsequent drying) , the fears of warping can be out phased. Now chemical treatment takes care of insect destruction. Also, if you decide to use steels truss for bungalow or storeys that do not require it by design-due to load to be withstood then the term "low cost housing" will only be a mirage. Take not that engineering is not just to deliver a safe or robust structure, but as well to deliver it in an economical way. , any engineer that disputes that should be sent back to the basics. Aesthetics can also require steel works to be used in rare cases even though it has economic disadvantage. |

earthrealm: Hv not been able to get a good QS that can give me a bill of quantities for my build at a good price
@bolded shud let you know am willing to pay a reasonable fee. are u a QS?, where are you located?.
@all, pls those who worked without a QS, how did you calculate the bags of cement/iron rods/sand blocks etcs...for the foundation stage? You'd still need the 2 drawings mentioned earlier for a proper and accurate estimate. Your bold statement was ambiguous in your sentence structure. At a good price could have been "the rate on the QS's bill" as that's what I interpreted it as. N.B I'm a civil engineer but the task of estimating quantities "accurately" can't be strange to me, but pricing I'd have to call a QS for current specific rates. I'm actually a fan of: let client source and buy their construction materials themselves where they can, while I come in to do the technical aspects which really is my profession. I prefer jobs with good bills of quantities as well, cause payments can easily be monitored for level of jobs completed. With a good bill all I have to do is negotiate my supervision charges and manual labour market rate: which won't be anything hidden as it can easily be verified. Different people and their own styles. Me no like wahala work. People in general caN be difficult to deal with, client; contractors; engineers; consultants; workmen; etc. CHEERS!!! Happy Sunday |

So am wondering how to do my calculations to minimize "chopping" by my builder. Want to do foundation to lintel level.build is 3 apartments. 4br duplex+ 2units 2br. In ph.how do i estimate or crosscheck the quantites of the various items needed..cmt.iron rod.sand.blocks etc Your architectural design and structural design are both needed for an accurate bill. Plus a you willing to pay the QS his fee, abi u want free jaab? |

Guys abeg enough of this warn of words I takes critical thinking to make your choice on whom to work with. And a cap that fits head A might not fit head B. IMO, if you have the ability to drive and hustle long hours go for uber (12-15hrs) But if you have limited time to hustle or doing it as a side something go for taxify (7-10hrs) to make reasonable cash at the end |
