obinna222:Why should a governor in Nigeria use a Range Rover which is a luxury vehicle as his official car? The car has the seal of the state on it. No governor in the U.S. will use a luxury car such as a Range or Mercedes as an official car. Even those who were already multi millionaires before becoming governors will not use such cars in official capacities. A governor in Nigeria can use any luxury car he can afford in a private capacity, but to use the money of the people to live in luxury while the citizens wallow in abject poverty is simply reprehensible. |
boujaye:You consider Jonathan an intellectual because he has a PHD. He has ruined the country's economy and left it in a worse shape than he met it. This intellectual did not have the strategic vision or foresight o appoint a competent CBN govoernor. The CBN Governor wants Nigeria to sell its future for short term quick fix. Saudi Arabia has $750 billion in foreign exchange reserves and Nigeria now has only $30 billion. Even South Africa has $50 billion in reserves with much more in development to show for its earnings. |
If Mr Aranse will be as competent as his resume suggests, then why did President Jonathan not appoint him as the new Inspector General instead of acting Inspector General? |
If the US wanted to kidnap Kashamu, he would have been taken a long time ago from Nigeria's porous borders. Kashamu obviously has an outstanding indictment against him in the US district court. He has been spending thousands of dollars paying his lawyers to quash the indictment to no avail. An innocent man will show up in court and assert his innocence. Kashamu's fear is that the incoming government will no longer protect him from extradition. |
herringbone:I hope you do not consider yourself to be one of the literate Nigerians, because your writing is atrocious. |
Mr Aribiasala posits that if Nigeria was America, Buhari will be disqualified from office because of his past record. Well, in America, Jonathan will be in jail for the massive looting of the treasury, incompetence, and bribing the electorate to vote for him. People like Aribisala are part of the problem and not the solution in Nigeria. Jonathan did not give Nigerians any reason to vote for him. He engaged in a campaign of fear by asking Nigerians to vote for him because Buhari is too strict. Why did he not run on his record of achievements and vision for the country? |
kodded:That is why Jonathan has an Attorney General that should file criminal charges through the courts against these individuals if there is sufficient evidence to do so. |
[quote author=kodded post=32719879]Mtchewwwww They should start with tinibu, obasanjo and atiku Then I will be convinced that they will fight corruption and not this useless stunt to trick gullible nigerians ![]() Unfortunately their zombie followers will believe it as usual .......smh...... Wow you just read my mind right now .....but unfortunately their blind supporters will believe this news Jonathan has been President for about six years. If Tinubu, Obasanjo, and Atiku are as corrupt as you believe, why has Jonathan not prosecuted them for corruption? |
tsdarkside:You just acted like the barbarian that you so admire. How can you make thunder to fire someone? |
tsdarkside:You have just validated the assumption of white men when they call black people jungle animals by your wrong conclusion. |
tsdarkside:I am man who does not believe in jungle justice. What type of society will you have in Nigeria, if every aggrieved group goes out on bombing rampages? |
tsdarkside:There is nothing like "black people reason". The acts of economic sabotage are clearly violations of Nigeria's criminal code. There are proper avenues to address grievances without resorting to the destruction of lives and property. In a democracy, people use their votes to elect public servants who will represent their interests. The courts are there to adjudicate cases even though most societal institutions in Nigeria have been compromised. |
Why is it acceptable in Nigeria to address terrorists as "militants'? These guys are simply domestic terrorists carrying out acts of economic sabotage against the nation. In a serious country, these guys would have been tried and sentenced to long and well deserved prison sentences. |
A majority of eligible voters have now collected their PVCs. It is time to vote. The system is not perfect for now but it will suffice. The Nigerian economy is under great stress because of geo-political uncertainties. |
CFCfan:Democracy does not require 100% participation of eligible voters, even though that will be ideal. If all eligible voters were to collect their PVCs, the election will still not have 100% voter participation. The last US mid term elections saw only 36% of eligible voters voting in the elections. Some states had as little as 20% voter participation. This did not invalidate the results of the elections. There are millions of Nigerian who have been internally and externally displaced because of Boko Haram terrorists. They might not have even had the opportunity to register to vote. Does that mean that the elections should not hold until all Nigerians have the opportunity to register as voters? In most democracies, the candidate who secures the majority of the votes cast, wins the election. There is no prerequisite for all eligible voters to vote. |
Why is the government opposed to the use of digital card readers? Why did Nigerians spend millions of dollars to digitize the voters cards, but the government is now against the readers to verify the authenticity of such cards? Why is the government against a measure that will prevent or minimize fraud in the electoral process? Digital card readers are good enough to read our bank cards, passports, drivers licences, but not good enough to protect the sanctity of our votes in a so called democracy. How dumb does the government think Nigerians are? It is time to wake up and make your votes count no matter which candidate you vote for. |
When will Nigeria introduce death by hanging for people who steal public money? |
Mr Fani Kayode did not only insult Mr Amaechi, but he also insulted the vast majority of Nigerians whom his economically privileged class considers peasants. There are a lot more peasants than elites in Nigeria. His boss is going around the country pleading with these same peasants to vote for him. Only in Nigeria, will a president appoint a man charged with and released on bail from a criminal offence to be his spokesperson. Mr Kayode might be an economic elite, but he is not an elite human being and is not a nice person. |
There were three African airports on the list. All three airports were in South Africa. No airport from black Africa was on the list. Sadly, the underdevelopment and underachievement of black Africa continues. No airport from the "Giant of Africa" was worthy of consideration. http://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/the-worlds-top-30-airports-of-2015/ss-AA9OqWb?ocid=mailsignoutmd#image=31 |
Nigerians are always quick to attack the messenger instead of addressing the message. The question for the Oba of Lagos, is Jonathan and his administration corrupt? Is President Jonathan doing anything to curtail corruption in Nigerian public and private dispensation? Does President Jonathan even acknowledge that corruption has destroyed and pervaded every institution of life in Nigeria? |
Governor Bob McDonnell and his wife were both just found guilty of a series of felonies in connection with gifts totaling about $165,000 from businessman Jonnie Williams who was seeking influence from the governor. They will be spending many years in prison. When a Nigerian governor steals billions of dollars, he is rewarded with more chieftaincy titles or pardoned by the President. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/04/bob-mcdonnell-guilty_n_5767392.html |
PhockPhockMan: That's how it's practiced in USA, let me ask you, who contested the primary with Obama in last election.?Senator Edward Kennedy who was a democrat contested the 1980 Democratic nomination in New York from August 11-14, 1980 against the sitting President Jimmy Carter who is also a democrat. The history of the US predates President Obama. |
The article is not correct in stating that the right of first refusal is given to the incumbent US President by his or her party. It is just that the incumbent President does not often get challenged by a candidate from within the party. President Jimmy Carter as an incumbent faced a primary challenge from Senator Edward Kennedy during the 1980 Democratic Party convention in New York. |
This man is disappointed with Obasanjo for not waging a vigorous fight against corruption but he wanted the same Obasanjo to interfere with the EFCC investigation of Mike Adenuga because of his donation of a building to Obasanjo's university. In the Oba's world. offering a potential bribe is not considered corruption. |
@poster, I read it too in the papers. Is a very serious issue with all this abracadabra by sanusi. If banks in Ghana can be offering 14% i see no reason why people should not move their cash out of Nigeria. **************** If a bank in Nigeria offered you 14% APR on your deposit, at what rate will the bank loan out your deposit to businesses to make money? High interest rates are not always good for the economy. The banks that were offereing those high interest rates were engaging in highly speculative and risky investments in order to earn decent ROI. This was what led to the bubble economy in Nigeria that has now exploded. It is almost impossible to find a retail bank in the U.S that will pay more than 2% on fixed deposit unless you are investing a couple of millions for a lengthy period. Short term speculative investments are not often good for an economy. Boom and bust cycle. |
Naijaking, did you read the news in the U.S about all the properties that were owned by Bernie Maddoff before he ever went to trial. How do you think all that information came out to the Media? Did you read about Mark Sanford and his properties in the Bahamas. He has not even gone to trial. I have lived in the U.S since 1981 so I do not need lectures about U.S justice system or media. |
So when did Sanusi become the Police that should parade the thieving Bank MDs? ******************* That is the essence of my comment. Sanusi does not have the power of arrest. It is the police and EFCC that arrests these suspects and parades them in public. Was the Judge's order addressed to the police and EFCC and does it cover all suspects arrested for any crime in Nigeria? The police do not always parade suspects in publice at least the wealthy ones. The police will often invite the media when they go to effect an arrest an thus these pictres are splashed all over the Media. |
Is it necessary to have 42 Ministers to efficiently and effectively govern Nigeria? Why does the President have to select one Minister from each of the 36 states. The number of Ministers is thus a function of the number of states and not the national need. This large number of Ministers obviously leads to increased waste and corruption. The Nigerian constitution is a highly flawed document. |
The police will parade petty thieves in public but when a bank MD steals hundreds of millions of dollars the Judge does not want the public to see the faces of corruption in high places. |
Becomrrich, do you know of anyone in Canada that has a Quebec passport. You never cease to amaze with your logic. |
What type of a country is Nigeria where failed and discredited Governors get to submit a short list of potential Ministers to the President? What is wrong with the President picking the best and brightest to serve as Ministers regardless of gender or tribal origin. This fake Federal character breeds nepotism and mediocrity. |
Why does Nigeria need 42 Ministers? This Democracy thing is very expensive. |

.....but unfortunately their blind supporters will believe this news
