True but why do you think more than half of the STEM graduates don't work in STEM fields today?

Because it's not true that there's a gap.

Every company will to fill any role today would get an employee — IF they can pay!

The problem is that they (employers) want to pay so little for a lot.

Exactly!! Covid opened the eyes of many companies abroad. Many tech guys in Nigeria work remotely for companies abroad because the pay is outrageous lol. And it's not like Nigerian companies can't compete, it's just their greed and lack of foresight that's killing them.

As a freelance digital marketer and self learning Cloud Engineer, I won’t even accept an offer to work in a Nigerian company with my skills.
One gig of 12 hours would actually pay my salary for the month. Someone on the first page was offered 30k for a month (12 hours times 20 days) lol, Nigerian companies are not serious. The CEO who replies emails will earn 1.5M but the Tech talent will earn 30k.

This is just it. They expect a DevOps and Cloud Engineer to be collecting ₦300k on site job, when foreign companies are offering $5000+ per month to work remotely?😂 And he can have 2-3 of said Jobs, working from home. Nigerian companies are not ready to evolve.

this one is probably a jjc. All it takes is one report and that your bolt account will be banned forever. Yeye dey smell. You go get sense by force. cheesy

Lmao I hate Bolt's Modus Operandi. I don't have a bolt account and can never drive for Bolt. I've been driving on Uber for over a year now with over 2k trips. You're probably the one that is a JJC.

And drivers that are not part of this Union will it be legal to impound their cars?

Stop been overly emotional, this won't fly.
It's best to have a proper dialogue with these company than trying to arm twist them with a strike action that's bound to fail.

I can assure you that the planned strike action with be a huge failure, make my words and my Monika, quote me end of next month if the strike succeeds.

Logic beats emotions everytime it comes down to business.

It's not the first time they done it and it failed. It won't be the last. They always forget that they're not employees.

Try be opened minded...

You will later complain tomorrow by the time you wake up.

You're the one that is closed minded. If you and members of your Union want to go on strike, please by all means do. But the moment you start forcing people who do not belong to your union to do your bidding, that's crossing a line.

With this your mentality, that's how foreigner will enter your country and enslave your people with peanuts and you will be telling your people to leave the company and find another means of survival, tell me how you're building better standard of living for your people.

This is one thing US and other advance countries can't condone cux they won't let any foreigner establish business in their country only to not set good pricing or remuneration for their citizens.

I spit on that rubbish you said.
Tomorrow will come, you will open that your odor mouth to condemn government when you yourself is in support of companies enslaving people.

Dey there dey speak grammar, don't face the reality on ground. Make I see who wan impound my car among Una, you go tell me wether Na your papa buy car gimme. You people with your useless union you created to enrich yourselves. Is not same you people that Lagos State government is using to market their stupid Lagride? You wan dey hear dey form wetin I no know. Lmao

They should inform their partners of the forthcoming strike, after all, the movement is for their benefits too so why can't they join the strike...

Bros, if Uber and Bolt is not favouring you, turn your car to full blown taxi and charge people whatever you like. Every Sane person in this business knows the job is just a means to an end. A lot of drivers have other sources of income and they don't really give 2 bleeps about all this things. I know I don't lol

Not beat but impound their cars, this is a movement for all so why can't they comply?
When the app company heed to their demands, they will enjoy it too so why can't they comply to the majority.

Impound cars wey you buy for them ba? What will happen to guys on HP? You think their owners will hear this one? Do you think it's all drivers that use Uber and bolt as main source of income? Lol Una go dey alright.

Learn to use CAPITAL LETTERS when stating facts. It took me almost 2 years to get a good customer service person and currently pay her 100k+ and I was advertising on hotnigerianjobs and jobberman every month.

Each advert gives us about 200 to 400 candidates and 95% are olodo....... just vibes.

Put a laptop in front of them and they can not paste even after watching a SOP video on how to do the task...... once they get to copy and paste - they start using CTRL P instead of CTRL V....... Graduates? ? ? not 1 not 2 not 10..... young graduates with iphone but no computer literacy.

Then the ones that can use CTRL V found thier last job stressful so they left without getting another job.... so who is paying your bills Nikka (you have a 2 months old baby) my brother in London sends us upkeep! Tor!!! grin grin grin I just say it was nice meeting you.... we will call you donot call us ( it is against the law to tell such a person that he is a lazy irresponsible man/father who will introduce entitlement culture if allowed to venture in) or the one truecaller brought up her name as Mercy hook up.... All BSC holders!!

So sad!!!

It's Terrible. Many Computer Science graduates can't even operate a laptop. You see them struggling with basic computer skills. Yet they'll be crying that there's no job.

Travel / Re: Travelling Into Nigerian (MMIA) Is Uber Safe To Your Destination Within Lagos ? by JeffreyJames(m): 7:01am On Oct 10, 2021

This panic is unnecessary. Booking Uber is even more safe than getting an hotel pick up. Most cabs at hotels are not run or have any relationship with the hotel. It is very rare to get kidnapped by an Uber driver as they all verified by the platform.

Just confirm the car color, make, plate number and the driver’s face match what you have on your app and you’re good to go.

Those Uber drivers has more risk of being killed and their car snatched or robbed by the riders they picked up. Going by the statistics and records, more Uber drivers are at more risk than their clients in Lagos.

Lemme tell you this for free, they’re even more scared of their passengers than you should for them.

On few occasions, drivers that has tendencies to kidnap don’t have any or all of their details tally with what you have on your app and that happens 90% at late nights.

All rides in the broad day light, with the drivers details correct with what you’re shown is very safe

Thank you o bros. I am an Uber driver and trust me this kind of person are the kind of passengers I even run from. Because they're too paranoid, anything you do is suspicious to them. At the end of the day they end up drawing unwanted and unwarranted attention to themselves.

i dont get this narrative, do you know that the same bolt drivrs are the same uber drivers? all they need is to just install the app. these guys always have the 2 apps installed

Not all.. I drive only on Uber. I refused to register on bolt because bolt has a lot of irresponsible riders. And most bolt drivers have been banned on Uber because of one complaint or the other. It is rare to see a bolt driver that is also an Uber driver.
