Kind Sir.

I decided to activate an account again to reply to you. So please put your emotions away and read the facts I'm about to give you.

Firstly I never commented on the actual design. Any country is free to design whatever they want. You can design a tactical tri-cycle if you
want to, that's your business. Hence the bulk of your reply and pics you posted are useless.

The areas highlighted in red circles are such bad weld jobs that the actual metal has been damaged. The artisan welded over the same spot
numerous times. Anyone who has worked with welding can tell you that. Do you agree or disagree with this point?Yes or No? Please don't
go and quickly google pictures of welding to try become and expert in 5 minutes, it won't work.

Now....in any half decent manufacturing company, the supervisor would not allow that joint to pass. It is a fail. That connection needs to be
cut out and re-welded. I won't even talk about the design of the suspension. Who knows what other rush jobs are hidden in this vehicle.
Hence it does not qualify as high quality Nigerian engineering. Or maybe it does? If you insist.
thank you for educating that arrogant, rude and disrespectful creature. He can't seem to make his point (if at all he has any) without insults.....

US SOCOM absolutely train for conventional warfare. SF has always been an integral part of conventional warfare regardless of their primary deployments over the last couple of decades. You're also not counting the massive US airborne divisions that are very well equipped for conventional airborne missions.

The VDV's conventional task of overrunning European defences depended on the Russian air force and nukes clearing the skies ahead of them. Against a peer nation with a reasonably modern airforce and air defence systems, that would be impossible for them to even contemplate today. The giant Antonoffs would be detected far from the border and have meteor missiles locked on them before they even crossed.
The impressive inventory of mechanised vehicles they have cant be deployed in the numbers they need to take on an conventional mech unit.
They wouldn't survive long against a force with heavy artillery that's close to their supply lines. Even in the cold war those VDV units were not expected to last for more than a week against NATO.
There's very good reasons other major militaries haven't invested in this type of "air-mech" force.

Educate the nigga.

Bros, you actually are an uneducated illiterate.

Do you even read?

The comment I quoted in my original post was not made by your everyday British Joe.

I directly quoted a British soldier who's directly involved in training front line Nigerian troops in Nigeria.

You, Evarn, most likely haven't been inside a barrack before. To claim you hold the same assessment as the British soldier is downright ridiculous.

Get a hold of this guy!!! undecided undecided
who's this British dude you speak of? How can we get the report? Did you meet with him in person? Instead of answering this questions, you're attacking and insulting people.

Behind all the pretty pictures we post, we all know our military is not doing well.

I recently read a critical remark made by a British soldier training the Nigerian army. He also shared photos to support his assessment of the Nigerian troops he was training.

Terrible doesn't do justice to the comments he made about our soldiers. It's a near helpless situation.

We are nation living in a self induced delusion or military and political leaders are living in an induced state of colossal delusion were things are magnificent. The leaders are not interested in waking up from their false realities into this real reality.

who's the British soldier? Do you have a link to the post he made? Can you kindly share it for us to read too? Thanks.

We all have to understand that the war was more an ego contest than a genuine fight for justice. Leaders on both sides just threw millions of lives away simply to make a point.

Thousands of innocent Federalists died too,not just the Separatists. Many people were made homeless orphans on both sides. So it isn't just the so called Biafrans that suffered all the hardship. The fact that the Federalists won is what is painting the narrative to suit the Biafran side.

The average igbo man always feels marginalized and exceedingly prone to victim mentality and self pity. This infact covers a more arrogant personality that is common with people of that ethnicity. They assume their business acumen to be unparalleled, and the difference between them and the Fulanis is that, while the Fulanis can show the result of their ambition and sense of entitlement by visible accumulation of political power, the igbos simply have a robust sense of entitlement but with very little to show for it. This is the simple truth.

If apologizing will ultimately lead us to unity, I believe the government should do so sincerely. But then again, the igbos also owe the country an apology for the reckless ambitions of Colonel Ojukwu.

At the end of the day,I believe the igbos should involve themselves more in politics and national affairs. The last election had a very low turnout from the south east, how do they expect to get power if they participate so reluctantly?. They have even refused to join the military, the last SSC witnessed a very abysmal turnout of South east candidates. Power doesn't come on a platter of gold.

We have all suffered enough for the sins of the past. It's time to move on.
may God increase you in wisdom. You've spoken well.

Mmm is nationalism in nigeria that low ? Maybe you need conscription, military service ?

its a really power added to a country that will be taken into count by any invader . specially for a country with large population like nigeria . after the military service, you remain mobilizable 3 to 6 years. ( a reserve army)

For an invader he will take into his strategy , in case i attack this country , that's millions of reserve soldiers that will join quickely there posts in nigerian army and many others with basic military training that could join guerilla even if i succed to invade them .

Of course you will lose one year or more of your life for the country .
Nationalism indeed. Before any citizen can think of wielding arms for his country and proudly fight for her, the country must give him/her something to believe in. Don't also forget that joining the military in Nigeria, entails having political or top military connections. When you take a lot of things into consideration, you'll agree that Nigeria isn't an entity worth fighting or dying for. Many military personnel today, are in the military because they don't have other options. The situation is pathetic.

Well, if you did any sort of research, you'll see that Norway has a female special forces team.

However, this is nairaland, the home of ranting and no research.

You did not watch that documentary.

It was clearly stated that regiment personnel mainly perform base protection duties, while the Panthers conduct Force protection and special forces missions.

There training regime was also clearly spelt out.

So what if SF dudes upload pictures of themselves on social media? Lots of SF dudes do that around the world.

It is individual enthusiasts who blur out faces of these operators.
Quit talking gibberish. Do some additional research and come back to talk like someone who's got brains in his head. If you don't know the disadvantages of special operations personnel exposing their identities to the public then I can't help you. Good thing you said others around the world blur their faces. Besides, I wasn't speaking to you was I? You want to compare America's 70,000 special forces personnel that have being in existence for decades with the NAF? We're talking about the Nigerian airforce here alone, you're bringing the entire US special forces into this. So much someone who does basic research. Sabi Sabi...

There are over 1000 SOF not 2000 taken from NAF Regiment personnel. Base Defence personnel are normal Regiment troops trained to defend NAF bases. The Panthers are more SOF like the Royal Marines or British Paras in being elite forces rather than the traditional SF that we know. NNSBS are more the traditional SF.

The more courses they branch out in, the more they become SF i.e. like CSAR aand other specialist courses. It takes a long time to train SF and even the CAS said that when the Panthers personnel graduate, they are even sent for further acclamitisation courses where they are posted.

Remember also that some are eliminated in the pre-selection training.

I watched this documentary I couldn't help but laugh at what the Nigeria Air force was calling special forces. How do women make it into special forces? Countries like Russia, USA, Israel, France, Germany, Poland, Norway to mention a few have a well trained special forces outfit and we know that the failure rate is very high. Hundreds of serving military personnel enter the program but only few graduate. The chief of Air staff should tell us he trained regiment personnel in base defense and other duties. No doubt the tactics taught to them is better than any other training available in the airforce but it is not enough to call them SPECIAL FORCES. How do you train over 2000 special forces soldiers in just 2 years? Unless they're not tier one operators, that feat can't be achieved. In what world do soldiers enter for such training and most of them graduated? Only in Nigeria. Special forces personnel that upload pictures of themselves on Instagram constantly, no secrecy whatsoever? The airforce chief has tried but he should stop over hyping his achievements.

The 1980s were the golden age of the Nigerian Air Force. A much poorer Nigeria with relatively no security imperative or threat was able to aquire some of the world's most advanced 4th Generation fighter jet..a full squadron.

Today a much richer Nigeria, the richest black nation in modern history fighting a decade long war that threatens the sovereignty of the nation is still negotiating for trainer aircraft and we Nigerians are lauding this as an achievement? We spend nearly a million dollars training pilots in training schools in the United States and South Africa only to put them in am aircraft that will not survive 10 minutes in contested airspace. Instead of opening factories or sporting complexes or fish ponds or forensic labs and building a parralel army to compete with the Nigerian army for allocation, why not FOCUS on improving Nigeria's Air defence capability.

Invest in fixed air defence batteries : NO
Invest in mobile air defense batteries: NO
Replace the aging ROLAND SHORAD: NO
Complement the ROLAND with more MANPADS: NO
Aquire more supersonic fighter jets to compliment the FOUR F-7Ni AIRGUARD we have for air defence: NO

We've seen Boko Haram make mince meat with the Alpha jet and Mi-17 helicopters. Months ago our brand new MI-35M was shot down. This means Boko Haram has improved it's air defence assets. In the year 2019 we are still converting trainer aircraft's for strategic missions. How many pilots have we lost to crashes? What a disgrace. No wonder nobody takes us serious anymore. We have lost respect in the region. Since Nigeria's military decline %70 of EFOWAS member states have signed strategic military cooperation with the United States an France. Can you imagine Alpha jets and L-29s protecting Nigeria's external reserves? There are simply not enough assets to secure the nation's airspace, maintain air superiority and secure strategic infrastructure. These mallams at the helm of affairs of the Nigerian armed forces are a joke. There are people here on nairaland that are better suited to take strategic decisions and improve the nation's air combat caps than these clueless punks we are parading about. Any Chief of Air Staff that invites the media to a ribbon citing ceremony to officially open a new FISH POND is not fit to employ as a dog catcher much less be in charge of defending the nation's air space.
this dude was actually making some sense until he chose to display the BIGOTRY in him. This is how people end up looking stup1d by spoiling whatever contributions they have to make.

heavy losses indeed. The prime Minister of Israel bragged that in five days (using the Israeli airforce alone), they would crush the fighting capability of hezbollah. That didn't happen. Losses on the side of hezbollah wasn't massive as you earlier exaggerated. IDF met very stiff resistance on the battle field. The Israeli side starting attacking civilian infrastructure, inflicting heavy damages on them. It ended in a stalemate.
