In fact the parallels are quite stunning.

seyibrown, that someone can walk up to you and purport to tell you ''God's will'', or hand you a book he claims contains ''God's will'', is testament to the gullibility and foolhardiness of the human mind.

Pray, do you suppose it is too hard a task for an all-powerful God to actually transmit ''His will'' directly into your head if he wanted you to know it?

WHY would He need any ''prophet'' or ''pastor'', or any ''holy book'' to help him do this?

Do you see you are being lied to and deceived by people who want your mind and your pocket?

Nice Try. But YOU have shown ALL the ''personal insecurities'' here. You are very ''personally insecure'' about anything to do with Nigerians or black Africans, and have shown that over and over and over and over again on NL.

Ok, to prove me wrong, can you name me three things the Egyptians can learn from Nigerians?

Well, at least you finally admit we have NEVER had this happen in Nigeria. All I ask is we not pretend that we have done this before. We can come up with excuses as usual but the fact is Nigerians have NEVER in their history matched en masse in the same way these Egyptians or the Tunisians have in the last month.

How about THIS ''excuse'', Madam Senseless, ie that NIGERIANS HAVE NEVER BEEN RULED BY AN IRON FISTED, MURDEROUS DICTATOR FOR 30 YEARS STRAIGHT AND MADE SLAVES ON THEIR OWN HOMELAND?

Is that a good enough ''EXCUSE''  for why Nigerians have not ''marched en masse'' like the Egyptians have done??

You DO realise the Egyptians did not just wake up one morning and decide to ''march en masse''??

Do you realize that in Egypt, for the past 30 years, you risked being murdered by govt thugs merely for voicing anti-government sentiments?

Or calling for a recount of votes in ''elections''?

In Nigeria, you can go to court and have election results OVERTURNED after showing evidence of malpractices. This has happened ALL OVER Nigeria in recent years, and will happen in the next elections.

Egypt is not even CLOSE to that level of political evolution or maturity.

Do you know that for the past 30 years in Egypt, you risked ARREST and DETENTION for congregating with more than 5 people on a public street?

Mubarak has operated a state of emergency for the last 30 years.

You need to understand WHY the people of Egypt have done this. It goes beyond economics, politics, the price of bread, etc.

Fact is for 30 years, they have been SLAVES in their own country.

There is something morally wrong when only 1% of the nation is able to benefit from the oil revenue, while most of the nation lives on $1 a day.

Stop talking rubbish. Far more than ''1%'' of the nation benefit from the oil revenue. Where do you think all that money came from to build 100 universities, thousands of public primary and secondary schools, roads, bridges, flyovers etc etc all over the country? Was it your money? Have you paid even 1 day's tax in your entire life?

And NO, ''most of the nation'' does NOT live on ''$1 a day''. Not even the poorest village farmer or palm wine tapper lives on that amount in real terms.  How much is a plate of eba and egusi in Washington or New York? Is it not at least $20?

The overwhelming majority of Nigerians eat at least THAT every day, not to mention other expenditure on transport clothing etc, so your $1 a day figure is highly dubious, misleading, and inaccurate.

It is IMPOSSIBLE in Nigeria, because of the ethnic rivalries that play out in our political processes. Most Nigerians are more loyal to their ethnicity, than the Nigerian state. Egyptians on the other hand are very nationalistic and they have a common identity, in which most Egyptians are of "Arab" descent, follow the same religion and speak the same language. Nigeria does not have that luxury

My friend stop talking garbage. You do NOT know what is ''impossible'' in Nigeria. Where were the ''nationalistic'' Egyptians for the past 30 years??

How do you know that if Nigeria had similarly been subjected to a brutal 30 year long dictatorship, that the people would not have risen up IN UNISON to demand an end to the oppression?

Dude, Egypt is just as 'corrupt' as Nigeria, if not more. The people there just have more binding them together in terms of ethnicity, language and religion, and so can unify for this sort of action with less stress and mutual suspicion than in Nigeria.

Also, the idea that it is ''impossible'' in Nigeria is wildly presumptuous. Most Egyptians who lived under Mubarak's iron fist for the last 30 years also believed this sort of mass revolt was ''impossible''.

Mubarak clearly holds his people in utter contempt, ignoring their demands, made in their millions out in the open.

His stock has really fallen in the eyes of many. Shameful.

The military need to get into his palace, and demand that he steps down immediately, failing which he can say his last prayer.

That's why I like Naija. We know how to manage this sort of thing better. It would never have come to this in Naija.
Politics / The Egyptian Military Needs To Seize Power In A Coup by Jen33(m): 12:20am On Feb 02, 2011
EGYPT NEEDS A MILITARY COUP

This standoff between the people and Mubarak has gone on for too long. The society is descending into chaos and anarchy while the army just sits there and watches. It won't take sides with the people. It won't take sides with Mubarak. It won't impose its authority on anything.

What's the point of having a military when they are so impotent in the face of the state collapsing in on itself?

The Egyptian military needs to seize power, establish military rule for a period not more than 6 months, following which elections can be held and a democratically elected government installed.

So when is our president going to help the citizens in Jos and the Niger Delta. Or must there be an uprising there for him to focus?

Have you actually followed the events in these two places, and do you know what and what has been done there by the government in say the last few months?

Answer: NO YOU DON'T. In fact you do not know ANYTHING going on in the ''Niger Delta'' much less what has been done by the government in Jos. You only write this because you've heard people talk and write about those places. You've done ZERO research yourself. You do not even READ Nigerian newspapers online. Don't ask me how I know - I just know.

And what's going on in Egypt is a protest against the government. The Nigerians who are there will be fine. It's not a war unlike other places in Nigeria.

You're extremely ignorant and thoughtless. 150 people were slaughtered two days ago in Egypt. Today, reports on Al Jazeera say 100 have been killed in Alexandria since yesterday. Sure. it's ''not a war like other places in Nigeria''. A fool fed fat on hamburgers and losing the little brains she had.

We don't have to copy copy everything the US does. They have their reasons. They respect and value their citizens' lives more than we do (it's the bitter truth)

The ultimate, disgusting statement of self-imposed inferiority. Shame on you and your self loathing ilk. I guess it never occurred to your inferiorized little mind that evacuating your citizens from anarchical countries on the brink of civil war is a state duty.

And to who mentioned the Egyptian soldiers and their respect for human life (no shoot to kill) thank you for including that.

You forgot to mention the Egyptian ''special police forces'' responsible for the deaths of hundreds so far. Or they don't fit in to your philosophy of self imposed inferiority? Brainless she-goat.

A problem? The basis of this thread is derived from the Bible, which to me is the best gift to mankind. Your dilemma is that you think it is just a book imposed on humans for reasons best known to you. That is your problem.

Look, you're free to regard the bible as whatever you wish. For me, it's just a book some foreign chancers handed to my ancestors to sell them a story. The new testament is almost an entire fabrication, while the old testament is a thoroughly misleading mish mash of ripped out Sumerian and Egyptian histories and legends, and often sinister UFO encounters in which one or more leaders of the visitors is falsely represented as ''God''.

Jewish bible? Person? Entity? Now I know what I am dealing with. Like one of my fellow NL brethen said "I am dealing with a mindset"
Anyway let me educate you on the GOD I am talking about; I am talking about my sole provider, the creator of Heaven and Earth, the source of all prosperity and achievement, the Sovereign Judge, the Lord of Heaven's Armies, The El shaddai, The Elohim, The Adonai, The Elyon, The I AM THAT I AM and yes of course "YAHWEH"

I note you're an expert at naming the various Middle Eastern terms for God. Pray, do you have a name that you use in YOUR OWN language, or did your people not know or have a name for the Almighty before they saw a bible?

Whatever happened to YOUR name for the Creator?

Why isn't it on your list of names up there?

The spread of the Judaeo-christian faith was really at source a coldly devised exercise in cultural imperialism.

See how the whole country is out in the open calling for you to STEP DOWN as their leader, and yet, like a brainless OAF, you sit there, forcing yourself on them.

In fact I even used to regard Mubarak as a reasonable kind of fellow, despite his unholy alliance with Israel and the US. But now, I've lost all respect for him. At his old age (82), he still cannot get it into his thick skull that the entire country is tired of him.

What more does this fool want? The entire country is at a standstill. People out in the streets in their tens of thousands for nearly a week now! Economy ground to a halt.

In other sane environments. The CIC would have resigned office because he is clueless on the necessary actions to take in relation to quelling matters in Jos

Ode oshi, so you're going to blame President Obama for the 500 people that get shot dead in New York City alone every year? What about the 500 in Detroit? Houston nko? What about Baltimore? Philly? LA?

Have you for once in your life ever blamed any US president for the sky high murder rate in US cities??

But in Nigeria you expect President Jonathan to leave his house and come and do gateman for you in Jos, to stop you killing each other because of your imported, stupiid religion which causes you to hate your fellow Nigerian/African?

NO. He has done what he is required to do. Now it is left to YOU NIGERIANS to USE YOUR BRAINS and understand that human life has value, since your bibles and korans and other imported ''holy books'' you use (after abandoning the religion of your fathers) have done such a poor job of civilizing you, turning you instead to cold, vengeful beasts.

You have grown men going around, burning churches, burning mosques. Even older men supporting them.  Did your religions not teach you this was wrong? Christians? What are you doing burning mosques? Is that what your Jesus taught you?

So why are you blaming Jonathan?

If your ''pastors'' had spent less time in ''prosperity preaching'' to make money and ride private jets, and more time on Conflict Resolution, on Love Thy Neighbour, on Respect and Honour Thy neighbour, there would be no problems today in Jos.

Sorry iflex, but YOU are the mumu.

It is not Jonathan's fault if brainless idiots in Jos go around killing fellow Nigerians because of religious differences and ethnic hatred. Christians AND muslims have been implicated. When does it become the fault of NIGERIANS?

Will Jonathan think for you? Will army man teach you to regard your fellow humans as humans?

Will army man sleep with you in your room to make sure you don't wake up in the middle of the night to go and kill your neighbour out of hatred and stuppidity?

Worthless foools. Stay there blaming Jonathan. The man is doing what he can: Here's the news:

Jan. 31 (Bloomberg) -- Nigerian security forces arrested 27 people after repelling an attack on two settlements in the central city of Jos in the latest sectarian violence in the West African nation, Brigadier-General Umaru Hassan said.

One police officer was killed before soldiers intervened yesterday, Hassan, who is commander of the military task force in the area, said by phone from the Plateau state capital today. Nigerian police foiled an attempt to bomb a church during services yesterday in the northern state of Bauchi, state police commissioner Mohammed Abdulkadir Indabawa told reporters.

The attempted bombing followed clashes between Christians and Muslims in the Tafawa Balewa district of the state and several churches and mosques last week were burned, police said. At least 20 people died in the fighting, Lagos-based ThisDay newspaper reported today, citing Indabawa
.

What more do you want from Jonathan?

The onus is on NIGERIANS to start to use THEIR brains.

In the meantime, Mr President, KUDOS for remembering Nigerians stranded in Egypt.
