Obi1kenobi:
You only reinforce the stereotypes of Muslims as intolerant. There is absolutely zero reason there should be a safe space for Muslims on Nairaland. If Christians offend you so much, you need to get over yourself. I'm an atheist myself and direct pretty much all my posts towards Christians (as most other atheists) on Nairaland. Yet, Christians seem to be able to take the banter. Muslims as always are incapable of such open discourse.
SlaveryWorks:
I’m curious as to how this played out. Where can I find information on this event?
Hello, I have been here since 2012 (under a different username)

Tbaba and Lanrexlan will tell lies to defend islam. It is their way.

The simple truth is that the islam section was created for the safety of non-muslims. The simple fact is that many muslims on nairaland cannot deal with criticism of their religion. The owner of Nairaland received an islamic death threat and that is why he created the islamic section- a place for muslims to talk without criticism.

In the owner's own words-
"The Islam section was created for security reasons, to protect non-muslims from the risk of violence, and not to promote Islam."
https://www.nairaland.com/1414032/what-make-seuns-comment-islam

The owner of Nairaland correctly decided to block muslim topics from the frontpage since the muslims enjoyed segregation. But muslims like Tbaba who wanted to eat their cake and have it, threatened the owner, who then reversed his decision.

The oath on the islamic section came as a second security measure for keeping christians from criticising islam on the islamic section.

Do not be deceived by Tbaba and his cohorts. They fought for the islam section to be separate.

Actions speak louder than words. Invite Tbaba and his cohorts for debates on islam and see how they dodge. They cannot take criticism.

Have you ever travelled to America? undecided

Black Americans have suffered a lot of racism. They did not have rights until 1968. They still suffer from housing and economic segregations. Innocent blacks get shot and framed by the police.

They have it worse than any other race in the usa

The hate u give.

This movie is kind of disturbing for me i felt uneasy throughout. How can a girl be so pretty? She make me feel i can't a girl like her in real life, damn. Could it be because of effects? or she is that pretty?

Concerning the message in the movie, blacks have been there own problem right here from Africa. Those ones called black Americans ridicule the real Africans here like mad.
To be i think white people are the most tolerant people on earth. Its a black man that will say another black man is soo black, but if a white man says that he's racist.
Everybody has racist tendencies, be they white, black or asians. It just happens that whites have acted more on their racist tendencies due to the economic and social power that they have.

Furthermore, whites also separate themselves by hair colour- blondes are somehow finer than brunettes. Whites also feel that if you're too white, you're pasty.

Everybody got problems, man...

I am for women's empowerment. But I dont believe in achieving it through lies.

Just for perspective; both Venom and Batman v Superman did better in the box office than Wonderwoman.

==============================

I think we are already getting close to equality. Nowadays, it does not matter whether it is a man or woman in the lead-role before a movie sells. What matters is the plot, visuals and marketing.

What we actually need is more female directors and a balanced screen roles between men and women

I have renewed my faith in the fight against tithes.

It is beautiful to see Nigerian christians thinking for themselves. It is funny seeing pastors scramble to defend the funding for their private jets.

Please, we can all contribute by commenting and supporting anti-tithe threads. The more people that see the logic, the more people can think about it rationally.

I believe in changing minds, not by force but by reasoning. There are christians who reason that read and think. I am not interested in the slaves that cannot think for themselves.

After a rice scandal that completely rubished his reputation as a pastor Professor yemi Osinbajo has again set the internet on fire this time with a claim that Nigeria is currently feeding the world.

Reno Omokri took exception to the claim and took to Facebook to slam Mr Osinbajo. He wrote: And this man is still a pastor? Nigeria that is officially the world headquarters for extreme poverty!

Dear GO Adeboye, if you value the integrity of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, better strip this man of his pastorship before he damages the reputation of RCCG! #RenosDarts

News media is awash this morning with disturbing footage and pictures from Nassarawa state where an epidemic of Malnutrition is threatening to wipe out communities. How Mr Osinbajo came about this claim that Nigeria is feeding the world remains a mystery

Budaatum, muttleylaff and happypagan, food don land!

I have renewed my faith in the fight against tithe!

Here is my latest thread on tithe;

Why those earning less than 150k a month should not pay tithe;
https://www.nairaland.com/4899840/why-anyone-earning-less-than
Christianity Etc › Why Anyone Earning Less Than 150k Monthly Should Not Pay Tithe by JeromeBlack(op):
I believe that people living on 150,000 Naira or less monthly should not pay tithe. This applies specially to those who live in big cities like Lagos or Abuja, where the cost of living is high.

The central logic to this topic is that beggars do not pay tax and should not pay tax. A beggar is not expected to pay tax because the assumption is that they earn too little to be taxed from. How can a person that can't feed himself be expected to pay tax? How can a starving man be asked to contribute food? The logic is simple

The same logic of the poor beggar applies to those earning 150,000 Naira or less. 150,000 Naira in this current economy cannot provide adequate food, clothing and shelter. In Lagos, a good 2-3 bedroom in a safe area costs at least 600,000 Naira a year. That is 4 month salary of 150k a month. What about clothes, transport costs and feeding (especially if there is family to feed)? I have not even mentioned school fees. Good private schools can charge from 80k to 3 million a term.

The simple fact is that one cannot raise a family on 150k a month. You will either owe school fees, or you will eat only 1-2 times a day (soaking garri counts as a meal grin)

Now, some pastor will come and say that you should pay tithe and get blessings. Which blessings? When you have not fed your children or paid school fees? Your prosperity teachers will not tell you that God does not like debtors! There are many verses in the bible about debts and none of them are favourable to the debtor. So if you owe school fees or money, do not pay tithe.

Here is my favourite verse about debtors;
Proverbs 22:7
The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender's slave

To stretch this further, if you do not pay tax, then you should not pay tithe. If you are not rendering unto Ceasar, what is Ceasar's, why then would you give money to God? Is it not the same God (through Jesus) that said one must pay tax?

So, if you are a student, you should not tithe.
If you are a housewife, you should not tithe
If you are a domestic worker earning less than 15k (non-taxable amount less than minimum wage), do not tithe.

I await any challenger that wants to challenge my opinions on this.

Ihedinobi3:
If they would ever be honest, any atheist would admit to you that they believe that religion or any belief in God is responsible for everything wrong with life. They do believe that if God can be removed from the picture completely, everything would be perfect. That is the atheistic stance. It is why they are so militant about their faith (yes, it is a faith).

I think though that it is generally a waste of time to interrogate atheism. Rather than tell the truth, an atheist would deny their own existence, if they need to.
What are you saying? Is there a creed or doctrine in atheism that says that God should be removed from the picture completely? Don't make up stories that you have no proof for.

Religion is a problem. It is a problem in Nigeria. Religion needs to be controlled because it is a dangerous substance. No sensible atheist wants to remove religion and God completely- that would violate human rights in form of freedom of religion.

Religion needs to be kept personal/private. That is what I mean by religion being controlled. Religion should not be part of government decisions and policies. We should live in a secular country and not a theocracy.

When religion is not controlled, we have things like terrorism. Religion is always dangerous because it is based on faith and when that faith cannot meet reality, it becomes madness. Just like excess intake of a substance like alcohol can lead to mad behaviour, excess religion can also lead to madness. This is why religion needs to be practiced moderately.

In Nigeria, religion is not practiced moderately. Many people do not know that there are lines one does not cross.

Religion is a problem but it is not the only problem. There is corruption and tribalism in Nigeria as well.

I hope I have painted a full picture for you.

This is the kind of garbage writeup one puts together after he has been deceived. Just because someone quotes the Bible doesn't mean whatever he quoted it to support is actually right or that he quoted the verses correctly. These days, it seems one can turn people into dummies easily as long as they see a Bible verse thrown into the order for them to act like one.

Look, I don't tithe but to say tithing is not scripture is one big fat lie. I also got fooled by the lie until recently. I will write something on the issue soon.
Stop running your mouth anyhow. Kindly go and review what Freeze has written/said about tithe before you conclude that a write-up is nonsense.

Whether you support Daddy Freeze or not, you cannot argue against his steadfastness in the face of great opposition from a horde of christian tithers.

Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze has become the face of the anti-tithe movement. With his eloquent sermons on social media under his "Free The Sheeple movement, he has swayed a lot of people against the doctrine of tithe.

The unfortunate truth is that Daddy Freeze has suffered a lot of abuse from christians who support tithe, both personally and professionally. On social media, he has received insults towards his wife and marital life. He has been cursed by certain christians who wish death and suffering upon him. He has lost a lost of sponsors and hosting contracts as a result of his outspokenness against tithing.

With all these abuse hurled against him, Freeze still soldiers on in his mission free the sheeple in Nigeria. One must also commend Freeze for reinforcing his anti-tithe arguments with biblical references. His scholarly method of argument has won a lot of fans to his side. Many commentators and spectators on the tithe culture wars have indeed noticed that Freeze actually quotes the bible more than his opponents in tithe arguments.

Another thing that Freeze should be commended for is his outreach to the poor. He actually put actions to his word action by engaging in charity programmes to help the poor. Freeze argues that it is better to "tithe" to the poor who need the money more than rich pastors.

In order not to sound biased, one must also point out that Freeze is not a saint. He confessed that it took him a while to stop tithing- long after he started preaching against tithe. While one can say that Freeze was being honest, one cannot dismiss the temporal hypocrisy displayed. Furthermore, his divorce was a bit messy for the average christian.

All in all, Daddy Freeze remains a great man. A man who did not give up, even in the face of a great opposition. Billionare pastors could not stop him in his mission to free the sheeple. A David and Goliath story. History will remember him.

This and some more were the minor( in relation to the plot) little pieces of puzzle I had but couldn't piece them together.....

OK, now back to a movie like IDENTITY, I was completely clueless from the beginning. I only knew what was really happening when the con was wheeled into the conference room & that was like few minutes to the end of the movie. Let's just say I was expecting Shuttle Island to give me the kind of thrills I got from identity. Notwithstanding, Shutter Island was a masterpiece on its own, & by referring to it as average I wasn't generalizing, it just my POV, in relation to my expectation.
Shutter Island is only predictable if you have been already told to expect certain twists.

Seeing that it was a more popular film that came out in 2010, spoilers could have diminished the value of the twist
