How ironic that some black people here are feeling woke by hating on black panther.

Black panther is highly rated because of its visuals, timing and the acting of individual actors.

A film can be great for many reasons. Some are great because if the plot. Some are great because of nice graphics and visuals. Some have a great message.

Black panther's plot is very simple. A new African king is challenged by his cousin who has a different view on using the kingdom's resources.

However, black panther is great because of its visuals. There is no other superhero movie that is as culturally colourful as black panther.

There is also the fact that the lead actor acts like a bad ass prince. Chadwick Bozeman has swagg and presence. Not to mention the acting skill of the women in the supporting role

From a feminist point of view, the women in black panther were empowered. There were no damsels in distress and they had their own agency.

And you have to consider the timing. The market had been saturated with so many superhero movies, of course it was going to be a treat getting to see a fuly fleshed black superhero movie.

There are also culturally hidden messages that relate to black people. The polar opposite methods of looking at white people/oppressors between Tchalla and killmonger is very telling- it shows how blacks in the west are more angered by racism than blacks in Africa.

Did you also notice how Wakanda was never colonized? Imagine if there were African countries that were never colonized.

Black panther is an average superhero movie that was supported with great acting, great visuals, great culture and a great message.

I have many more things to say but I will leave things here for some to think. We have thousands of white people who want awards for the Black panther but some Nigerians hate that blacks have some recognition. Interesting.

Calm down.

To clarify, TDK and TDKR are my favourite superhero movies. I prefer them to Black Panther.

I know TDK is a DC movie. I just feel it is very different from the typical DC movie

Bloomberg is Jewish

Jews are disporportionatlely wealthy than most other ethnic group or races.

Nevertheless, the Chinese no dey carry last as well as the South Asians from India.

In America today, the richest group are Indian Americans. Theyve overtaken the Jews
Zuckerburg does not count. He stole the idea from the Winklevoss twins who are not jewish.

The Dark Knight trilogy took Batman into a different space entirely. Up till today, I consider it radically different from most superhero movies. I consider it different from most Batman movies. I consider it different from most DC movies.

DC movies are shite.

The exception is Wonderwoman, which was okay. I want to clear my doubts with Aquaman- so I will watch it tomorrow when it comes to Naija

So it isn't weird how in every field apart from sports and crime , Jews always dominate.
Some of the biggest white collar criminals are Jews- see Bernie Maddoff.

Also, Jews do not dominate in the field of technology. That is left for the Japanese and the USA comes in second. How many Jewish owned companies are in the top 5 tech companies in the world? Samsung is not Jewish (Korean). Sony is Japanese. Toyota is Japanese. LG is korean. None of Apple's founders are Jews.

One has to be very careful when praising Jews. Many of the Jews you see today are not Jews. Race/ethnicity is not a scientific way of differentiating people. A lot of people you see today claiming to be Jews could be just a mix of middle eastern tribes and European descent.

Now this your criticism of the film comes from the mistakes of the producers/directors, using the casts for the wrong role. Rachel's role was not the wrong choice, though, because she's born and raised in the US. If you could still recall my earlier appraisal of the movie, I stated it clearly that I wasn't impressed by the movie's storyline or acting, that's because the if I'm to critique the film properly, I'd give it a 6/10. The storyline was cliche, and I wasn't wowed at any point by it; rather the wealth was the only thing I really enjoyed seeing in the movie and maybe Akwafina's performance. So, I agree with you on other aspects of the movie, but I still insist the directors did no wrong on showcasing the wealth to portray how rich those Asians were.
We are saying the same thing.

Where we differ is the issue of displaying wealth. I believe that it was not displayed enough.

I wanted to see fleets of supercars and classic cars. I did not get to see that.

I wanted to see mansions that are monitored and run by extensive operating systems.

I wanted to see exclusive nightclubs with madd attractions.

The wedding was underwhelming to say the least. People get married on mountainsides, islands yatcs and elaborate stage sets. This wedding just had some water tricks that didnt even make sense.

Oh, and rich young guys tend to wear T-shirts and hoodies when they are not in serious occassions.

This means you weren't simply paying attention in the movie. Because this particular family had a trend of sending off their young children to boarding school in England.
From grade school to the end of high school, seeing them mostly on the holidays as such. Now tell me how a child schooling in an Elitist English School will not be drilled on speaking the "Queen's English"? That coupled with peer pressure will rid them Of any trace remnants of the Asian accent they would have had.
Your comment is a common assumption found to be wrong.

I've not seen The Great Gatsby. I know it sounds shocking, but it's what it is. grin

No matter the kind of lavish parties you've seen, the display of wealth in the movie was impressive, you can't deny it.
The greatest asset anyone has is land/house.

Did you see any outstanding mansion in that movie

Do you know that a lot of Asian billionaires speak with Asian accents and not British/American ones? Crazy rich Asians makes that mistake.

Even in Nigeria, the billionaires and their children, how many speak with foreign accents? They speak good English but not foreign accents. David who live in USA comes to mind. Even Cuppy has a Nigerian accent.

It's hard for me to be impressed by Crazy Rich Asians when I know the good life.

Crazy Rich Asians 7/10

The most impressive thing about this movie for me wasn't the storyline or the acting; but the unending display of opulence. Shit_ was so impressive I wished I was a billionaire.
I've seen crazier parties in the USA.

Great Gatsby called. It wants it's opulent party theme back.

Even in Nigeria where Ferraris and lambos race to party destinations.

What was really outstanding about any of the parties? Nothing.

The only thing cool was the helicopter to the ship party.

Christianity Etc › Why Don't Pastors Preach About PAUPER'S TITHE As Prescribed By Scriptures? by JeromeBlack(op): 9:06am On Dec 16, 2018
I'm sure many people reading this have never heard of "pauper's tithe" or "poor tithe". I have gone through many sermons both online and in real life but I have never heard any Nigerian pastor explain this concept.

So, what is pauper's tithe?
The pauper's tithe, (Hebrew: מַעְשַׂר עָנִי‬ ma'sar ani), Maseer ani, is a hebrew word taken from the old testament that refers to the tithe that is reserved for the levites and the poor (widows, orphans beggars).

This can be seen in the book of Deuteronomy-

(Deuteronomy 14:28)
At the end of three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of your produce in that year, and shall lay it up inside your gates; And the Levite, because he has no part nor inheritance with you, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are inside your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.”

(Deuteronomy 26:12)
When you have finished tithing all the tithes of your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give them to the Levite, the stranger, the orphan, and the widow, so that they can eat to satiety in your cities.

In modern times, Orthodox Jews give a tenth of their income to charity. Those in Isreal give some of their harvest to the poor. In traditional practice, this pauper's tithe was the third tithe. The first two had to do with church. In modern times, tithing to the poor/charity is more common among jews since there is disagreement to who is a true levite/descendant of levites.

I just want to really ask why Nigerian pastors do not preach about this poor man's tithe? Is it because they are so engrossed in filling their pockets?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by JeromeBlack: 8:42am On Dec 16, 2018
Lordreed,

I agree with you that tithing is a scam. I didnt just want to bring out the big guns in that thread. I just wanted to focus on the problems of tithe one by one.

The thread focuses on the poor. One should never tithe on a meager salary. How can someone that is struggling to feed himself be expected to tithe?

I don't think it matters what you earn, tithing is a ridiculous concept in this modern iteration and serves no other purpose than to enrich the church corporations, tax free!
If people want to tithe, it is their business. However, tithing on a meager salary is self-destruction.

Aquaman 7/10

Straightforward, formulaic superhero movie. Light and fun whilst still maintaining a serious tone. Absolutely STUNNING, almost artistic visuals, LIT and glorious fight scenes. Scenes filmed in a nice variety of environments.

Some cringe dialogue however, especially Jason Mamoa, thought his acting wasn’t bad but could’ve been better, I dunno I just found his acting a bit one dimensional. Some very interesting and ODDLY placed music choices (you'll know exactly what I'm talking about if and when you watch the movie). Even though I found the fight scenes to be pretty amazing in general, some parts of the final battle were kind of anti-climactic to me. Overall still a solid superhero movie in my opinion.

I know Jason was meant to the sex symbol but I found Orm (Patrick Wilson) to be the hottest grin

Oh and Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), in the beginning anyway, then he started getting annoying
Nice review. I cant wait till 21st when it comes out in Naija and other countries. The movie is not yet out in many countries (US Nigeria, Canada). I am guessing that you're in the UK.

By the way, I am quite foolish. I never realised the connection between blackmanta, our colleague and black manta of aquaman.
