Had my interview today and it was hell....please help me look through,am open to suggestion and corrections, I need to know where I got it wrong.... The conversation goes thus :
Me : Good morning ma (with a smile)
Vo:Good morning,pass me ur passport and I20
Vo: Why did u choose this school?
Me: I choose Baltimore city community college because of it standard and content of education they offer and the fact that they emphasis more on the likes of the course's I'd be taking
Vo: Did you write any standardized exam's?
Me: No ma
Vo: Have you travelled before?
Me: No ma ,have never heard any cause to travel
Vo: Am sorry u do not qualify for a visa ,handed me my passport and a blue paper
The bolded statement is where the problem lies. More so, is this going to be your first degree? Why not a bachelor's?

Hello house,

1. I had been denied twice last year in Spring 2018 (November and December). I decided to take a one year break before showing up at the embassy again. In that period, I added a travel history (South Africa - went for a two week vacation), and presently I am on a new job roll in my bank. Last year I was an ATM custodian and now I operate as a Cash Officer. I want to know, if asked, what have changed in your application or why you think you are qualified now, how best do i respond to this question? This is the only headache I have got now. Though I am not married yet.

2. While filling my DS160, I added my current job role (Cash officer in the same bank). But I am confused about the date to put. Do i still maintain the date when I got employed with the bank (since i have not changed firms), or do I put the date the promotion/ move to a new job role was effected? RECALL: They usually ask HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING hence my confusion.

Thanks.

She bone face like today nah today.....one small babe.God is in control.
Beautifying her table with blue paper is part of the trick to get visa applicants nervous and have them derail. It's a "shutdown technique"... please always stay positive and just assume it that the white paper is hidden for you alone. She no wan do mistake give am another. Have that mindset

Yeap, but I can ride on knowledge of someone that chose the school and probably the same course.
You may have a better knowledge that is why I am open to ideas.
On what the masters will do for me:Yeap,I lost my train of thoughts.
But is what I wanted to say:
I currently work as a Senior Service Engineer at Bleep Nigeria limited.I face problems such as power issues that damaged board, delayed in spares and quality assurance to meet the needs of customers every day.Courses such as total quality management, environmental policies, logistics and supply chain management and biomass gasification and renewable energy will offer me skills and knowledge to resolve those problems. Also the company I work is currently moving to a new ISO standard and demands for review of quality and environmental objectives will be required.I will also help in this capacity when I come back to Nigeria. This will ultimately lead to promotion as I help take the company to a new level.
That's is what I had in mind..
Can you help critique that?Thanks!
The VO will ask you why you want to spend so much on masters only to come back to your job. Sometimes, this response can be a red flag o. Sometimes o. While some times its a case of different strokes for different folks.

Yeap you are spot on.
However, this is actually the first point I wanted to tell the VO but changed my mind before I went to the window:
I chose the school because of a research interest on biomass gasification by prof Xxxx. The Prof is an astute academic in biomass gasification of Sustainable energy plant and I was interested in this research because it offers solutions to the energy crises in Nigeria. The research addresses the lower gas supply common to power plants in Nigeria and will afford me the skills and knowledge to offers solutions to my work place in the short term and Nigeria as a whole in the long-term.This what I had in mind as first point but I changed it to second just before the interview...
This is actually why I chose it initially. Can you help critique that?Or may be help with anything I can add. Thanks
Cram and pour. See as you dey pour am for here like say you dey ejaculate... lol... Get used to your answers so that no matter how frightened or nervous you may appear before the VO, you will still have traces of your answers floating in your head that you can always sell the VO.

Someone once told me the SEVIS fee now go beyond the previously stated 12-month validity period. I still haven't been able to verify how true it is. It appear this is true, at least based on what you said in your initial post. In this case, don't stress yourself. Book your appointment and prepare for the interview.
In as much as I felt a lot of excitement reading this from you eh? But I just feel scared. I wish some others will confirm this as being true so that I can book for my interview and go ahead to schedule and expedient interview.

Thanks for your response. Can I PM you for possible mocks in wait for my interviewhuh Cheers

Alright. Easy. Count the date. When did you pay the SEVIS fee? (Date) Actually, you may not need another sevis fee payment, especially if it has not expired and if sevis number has not changed.
Thanks for your response. I stated on my earlier post that I paid the SEVIS fee on the 2nd of November, 2017. The SEVIS ID of my new i20 my school issued me presently is same with that of the one they issued last year and that is restricting me from generating a new coupon/ making a new SEVIS payment. I believe the former payment is supposed to be expired but why it still shows PAID on the I901 website is my worry as it ain't allowing me Pay my SEVIS

Please House, I have a challenge. Don't know if anyone has come across someone with same or similar case as this before.

Here is my issue.
I was previously delayed last year December 2017 and I deferred my admission till Spring 2019. (I paid my SEVIS last year 2nd of November, 2017).

Now my new i20 has arrived but I noticed it has same SEVIS number as I had Last Year. Now on th SEVIS I901 website, they are refusing me from making a fresh SEVIS payment stating the following message:

The information you provided matches payment records already in the system. A new payment may not be required.

We can only accept Check, Money Order or Western Union for your I-901 Fee.

I am confused and stuck as I am hearing sevis expires in a year but yet mine is saying I already having a payment matched in the system.

The SEVIS I901 website after showing an error/ refusal message popping up the screen asked me to mail them for Payment Verification on one email address like that which I have also done and they are yet to reply for over 4 days now.

Who has an idea what else I can do as that's the only thing delaying me from scheduling for an interview and available dates already show January 15th or so. (though I want to book for expedient appointment when I eventually book).

Thank you.

Yeah you can, pay through your mobile app and go print the receipt on the online platform, I take it you're talking about GTB mobile app and GTB internet platform.

1. Log on to your mobile app
2. Goto payments and locate visa fees
3. Follow the prompts and input accurate information
4. Confirm visa fees payment (they'll deduct the fee
from your account)
5. Log on to ibank.gtbank.com with your login details
6. Click on travel [airline tickets, visa fees and hotel]
7. Click on US visa fees on the drop tray
8. You'll be able to view your transaction history
9. Print receipt (it'll come as a PDF)

Cheers
God bless you. So so easy. At least my weekend won't be a waste of time. I was thinking I was going to have to wait till next week to pay Visa fees.

SORRY BUT I HAVE TO TELL YOU THE HARD TRUTH.... From the bold statements, its clear an agent or someone else helped fill your DS160 True or false? Reading your transcript, its crystal clear you weren't the one that filled it yourself. That is evident from the way the interviewer was doling out questions on you cos he or she was seeing contrary things on your DS160.

Moreso, your transcript shows you weren't even near prepared for an interview from the type of answers you were giving. E remain make you and consular even begin trade or exchange words sef. grin grin grin

My advise is, bros calm down, study the transcripts of both approved and delayed persons here. Work on you answers before considering to refire. No go just dey dash embassy money from your dad's freight business o grin grin grin

Best of luck brotherly.

I also realized that the course on my i20 is different from what I've in my offer letter. Is this an issue?
Stick to what you have on your i-20.

You can respond this way.

I am going to ABC University to pursue my masters in "the one on I-20" with a concentration in "the one on your admission letter".

Or you can forget the concentration part completely and STICK TO ONLY WHAT IS ON YOUR I-20.

I wish you the best.

Hello Fam, I was denied an F1 visa twice between November and December, 2018. I had to defer my admission until SPRING 2019 to give me time to concentrate at work and to prepare better for a next time. Presently, i am awaiting the arrival of my i-20 which is on transit now from my school in the US so now preparing for my third and hopefully last F1 visa interview.

Now my question is this,

1. i paid my SEVIS fee last year (November, 2nd 2017) and I want to know if it will still be valid enough for me to use it for my new interview. I heard the fee expires after a year and in that case, it means mine should have expired. However, as we speak, I logged into the fmjfee.com website to review my SEVIS fee status and this is what saw:

Current Payment Status: Paid
I-901 TRANSACTION DETAILS

VIEW PAYMENT CONFIRMATION Date Received: 11/02/2017
SEVIS ID: N00274*****
Payment Type: Western Union
Payment Status: Paid
REQUEST TRANSFER Transaction: WWW1730******

Now does this mean my SEVIS fee is still active and can be used for a new interview say in december or january pending when there is an available date?

2. Secondly, I noticed that the SEVIS Number in my last year's i-20 (from same school i applied to last year), is same as the SEVIS number in the new i-20 the same school just issued me last week (presently on transit). Is this going to be a problem cos alternatively I tried transferring the payment but got an error notification notifying me that the SEVIS numbers were same and therefore, i couldn't transfer. At this point, i am confused on what to do next.

I anticipate a response from gurus in the house to guide my next step. Thank you.

Good day house. I recently got a vacation Visa for SA for three weeks. I intend spending 14days though in Johannesburg, hoping to visit Pretoria and a couple of other "safe" places if time and my budget permits.

1. Please my question is with regards accommodation. I have a friend willing to accommodate me in that period but I am skeptical with regards testimonies of persons here commenting about having proof of hotel reservation/ booking to cover your period of stay. I wish assistance on what to do as I am looking towards cutting cost the best way possible and booking for the 14 days will be sapping.

2. Also with regards accommodation, I checked out apartments at airBNB and noticed people are willing to lease their apartments/ rooms at a certain price. Some affordable. Now, if I go for that option (as hotels seem slightly expensive), is this option accepted at the Point of Entry as an accommodation option?

Please I expect candid opinions from gurus as I supposed to depart Lagos for Jo'burg 31st July till 14th August.

You should not feel bad about contacting the school... Visa sometimes it out of your control so the school knows that. You won't be the first in this position and wont be the last so most schools are familiar with

If I were u i would contact the school asap and let them know so if there is any allotment for fall you can be included. Also since you gone twice maybe it best you defer till fall and come back refreshed.

Take heart... some life journies are not smooth but you get there soon . And yes always feel free to ask the school questions. Ask them about what waiver you can get in fall and if there are more offers as well
Thank you so much for your response. I really must commend your choice of words and how you compose/ package your responses. It really goes a long way to heal a crushed heart as mine.
