Hello House,

I am a prospective Canada PR applicant. I am 37 yrs old with a 32 yrs old wife wt 4 kids.I have a 1st deg in agric econs and MBA, wife is a lawyer. I have just startd d process a few wks ago. I work with a gud coy &hv a mnthly sal of abt 300k.I know schholing is free 4 my kids to sec sch&there is gud healthcare in canada. I want to ask a few questions &pls i appeal for sincere answers from people who have gone thru d process & are in Canada/or abt to go
1.Do u think i will scale thru d process lookn @ my stats.
2.What chance of success do i stand if i'm eventually successful in getting to Canada.
3.Do u think it is advisable to leave my job here in Naija in case i am successful or do i just send my family & continue working here while comin there 4 short trips.
4.Is there any1 whose case is like mine, can u pls share ur experience.
Pls help a brother.

300k is not what you should jeopardize Canada for, the total value of what you'll enjoy over there is certainly worth more than 300k. Come to even think of it, how much will be left of your salary if you are to pay school fees for 4 children at a go? My suggestion is that you do Canada.

Meanwhile, I suggest your wife be the Principal Applicant cuz age is on her side and Law degrees get same point with Masters. You may also apply as PA if your occupation is one listed by some of the provinces. You both should aim at scoring highest obtainable score in IELTS.

Education / Re: I Applied For MSc But Foreign Supervisor Said School Is Accepting Me For PhD by JesusDWay(m): 10:06pm On May 04, 2016
Team16:
Please oga se.un help me push to the front thread cos I need to reply this mail today.

I have a B.Sc Industrial Chemistry ( 4.01/5), Pgd Chemical Engineering ( Distinction ).

I applied for a Canadian admission for MSc.E Chemical Engineering. Normally for your admission to be successful you need to secure a supervisor whose research interest is similar to yours. I have done that and he encouraged me to apply. I submitted my application and after going through my application with other supporting documents like letter of motivation and others, he sent me a mail this afternoon that they want to consider me PhD instead of MSc I applied for. I'm very confused right now if to accept it or not considering high standard of education abroad as I use to hear, I haven't experienced foreign education before, this is my first. Please note my ultimate goal is to obtain a PhD. Please help me push to the front thread cos I need advice from experienced Nigerians who have studied abroad. Thanks. I appreciate

From what I'm seeing here, you likely applied for a Research based Masters and, in Canada, having a PGD means your Masters will be concluded in a year. I'm also of the opinion that you must have mentioned in your statement of motivation that you want to proceed to PHD after the Masters, this may be why your supervisor feels there's no need wasting a year of research since you'll do same in PHD, considering you must already have sufficient background in your pgd and your area of interest likely is more chemistry related. So, I think the man possibly knows what he's doing but if you are still feeling jittery, then write him to try and explain why he feels you can proceed to PHD and if his reasons are likely that what you will do in the Masters is still part of what you will do in Phd. I however also suspect you may want to add Masters title to your accolades grin, if that's the case, ask him if you can run the two programmes concurrently.

Best Regards

I am a Nurse here in Nigeria. I completed registration and licensing with College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia, which is the major prerequisite for most of the nursing jobs posted, then, I applied for jobs, got interviewed. When my interviewer understood that I am not from Canada and would need a work permit, I was assigned to an external recruiter who proceeded with my case and told me to apply through BC provincial nominee program which they use for foreign workers. I signed a full time permanent job offer, he concluded everything on their part and sent me all the document I needed to apply for the BC PNP and urged me to apply as soon as possible.
I applied for BC PNP, got nominated and was sent a nomination certificate and work permit support letter with instructions on what to do next. So, now, I have applied for work permit and PR. As soon as my work permit is issued I will go to Canada and start working while I wait for my PR.
In one of the email my recruiter sent to me, he informed me to apply for Upfront medical before submitting my work permit online but I don't know how I completely forgot, I guess it's because I was so overwhelmed with making both applications and trying to do everything right. The timeline for work permit shows 3 months. I hope they request for my medical soon and give me a form for it. If I had done upfront medical I wouldn't be waiting for instructions now. I feel so stupid. My recruiter has been writing me to ask how I am coping with the application and the manager that interviewed me have been in contact too wanting to know how I am faring with everything because they can't wait for me to start.
It was a long process but I was patient. Especially getting the nursing license. I also got advice from Nurses who have gone through the process, one of them decided to start a blog about the whole process to help other nurses through the process. I don't know if it's ok to post the link to the blog here.
I have 3 other employers from different regions in BC offering me jobs but I have already chosen this one.
It was a long journey but I'm glad I'm close.

Thanks much for this and, would appreciate if you can post the link to the blog. I also wouldn't mind if you can highlight the steps taken in getting your license, how long it took and how much it costed. Also, was there a need to do IELTS and if there is, what is the minimum required score for each section of the IELTS? Thanks once again. I will in the meanwhile see if i can search for the blog

Only the Principal Applicant MUST do the evaluation, the spouse's own is just to get a little additional marks.

Meanwhile, i dont see why you have to open a thread for this when there's a general purpose thread for Canadian Immigration that has been opened already.

Good day everyone,
I recently Applied for Permanent residency through the BC Provincial Nomination. Also, because I have a job offer, I was also given a Work permit support letter with my Nomination Certificate. I have also applied for a work permit, however, I have not done medical exam yet. I thought I was supposed to get instruction from CIC to go for medicals like they sent for Biometrics. However, I was reading through the past email from the recruiter that is on my case and I discovered that I should have done an upfront medical before submitting my online work permit application. So, I want to know if I can still go ahead and do the medical before I get instruction from CIC. I do not want my application to be delayed. It's been 3 weeks since I submitted it.
Anyone who has submitted online work permit application, how did you go about it?

Hi. Can you share with us how you got the job offer and how you were able to apply for the BC Provincial Nomination? I know the BC Nomination thing requires a job offer so, how did you manage to nab it?

You have been advised to look at Australia instead. I will advise you write PTE English Test instead of IELTS. I learnt it's easier and since you will likely need a very high English Test score cuz of your educational level, I think you should take that option

Hello all, I was wondering how to calculate my Academic IELTS

L 8.5 (CLB 10) 32pts
Reading 7.0 (CLB 9) 29points
Writing 6.0 (CLB 7) 16 points
Speaking 8.0 (CLB 10) 32 points

overall 7.5

will it be correct to claim 32+29+16+32 = 109 , for my CRS score in this section?

Which CLB level will i use for transferability (foreign work experience and foreign education)P CLB 7 i guess?

I intend to write the General IELTS version this time around ( if required)

They don't accept Academic, you have to write General and aim to score 8.5L, 8.0R, 7.5W&S, it will can help you get selected fast

Good Morning, Please i have two questions

1. Can i use an online MBA certificate for masters?
2. I have an uncle who owns a hospital in Canada, do you think he can help with a job and LMIA.

Thank you

Note that an educational evaluation body has to evaluate your qualification first before it will be acceptable to CIC so, if a body like WES can evaluate it and state that it is accredited then, you are good to go.

Your uncle is in a better position to determine if he can get you an LMIA.

He probably means you should ace every module of your IELTS exam.

Meanwhile, assuming I secure provincial nomination as a single. If my marital status changes afterwards ( just before I apply to CIC, but after my nomination), does my spouse need a credential assessment and/or IELTS test result?

Attention: JesusDWay, Irondome, Zandora, Justicia et.,al.

It's a bit cumbersome. Your PNP Nomination certificate should also carry your wife's name before it's sent to CIC. I would rather advice you do the marriage after submitting your docs for PR(after ITA), that way there won't be delay in your application. If you do it before ITA, CIC may want your spouse included in the nomination which will then mean you refer back to the province that your situation has changed and they then issue another certificate to include your wife and then forward it again to CIC. In all what you'll do, remember a PNP Nomination may not last more than 6months in validity

Good day, hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Please, do you mean fixed deposit and treasury bill must be liquidated before the final application is submitted?

My wife is the principal applicant; about 75% of the required POF is in fixed deposit, done on her name. The balance of the POF has been invested in treasury bill through me.

Am I required to transfer this to her account before we print her bank statements? Is she also required to liquidate the deposit into her account?

Cc: irondome, zandora, JesusDWay

If it's possible to do the Treasury Bills in her name, going forward, it will be better. You have less hassles with CIC sniffing round disparities that may occur in the average balance of each month for the 6months history required(which mostly applies to Savings and Current Accounts). With FD and TBills, just write a letter of explanation to show it is the two she's using cuz it appears a lot of case officers just pick one out of the two when there's nothing saying the two are used together, which may result in they concluding you don't have sufficient money.

Hope this helps?

I have evaluated my Nd with bsc thinking I would get a two or more cert, but am considering evaluating my ICAN cert maybe this could give me what I want.my question is;will my ICAN cert give me two or more cert.please help out before I waste my money undecided

No, ICAN doesn't give two or more certificates. So far, it's only ACCA that we have seen that gives 2 or more certificates cuz it's evaluated as equivalent of Bsc. Had it been the Diploma was done after Bsc, it would have given you 2certs but since, it was done before, it's like a progression to a higher degree.

My noc code and yours is the same, mine is in a law firm.
I wil still need to get my ielts done before I can email them. But do update me on their reply when you do email them.
I'm looking at attending either the US or Dubai one. But Dubai will surely be less expensive since I and my family might go together. I heard spouse of principal applicants might need to attend too. I'm not sure abt this though.

It appears they upgraded their requirement - the Administrative Assistant now has to be Bilingual.

In addition, some group of folks I know are beginning to send them emails for them to consider holding an information session in Nigeria, they have planned to do one in India. So, y'all might join in sending them emails as well, persuading them why they should come hold a session here as well.

I think i need to say this as i'm experiencing being banned almost all the time or some of my comments removed. It seems Justwise is always suspicious of my comments after the last incidence, to the extent that i'm no longer free to write the way i want, i have to censor and censor so that my comments dont get raise suspicion and consequently removed or i get banned. I'm not trying to blow any trumpet, we still have people here who are knowledgeable but there could be a need to check the replies we give people so people dont get misled, its one of the major reasons i stayed otherwise. It can be very embarrasing when you are trying to be of help and someone chooses to frustrate your effort

Maybe there's something there that was not clearly stated. There's someone who had such experience until it was discovered that in his wife's history, the period of NYSC was the problem as they wrote NYSC there and oyinbo no know wetin NYSC be, they then had to write it in full for oyinbo's understanding so, check very well what yours could have been, anywhere you used acronym, change to full name.

I know someone who did fixed deposit just 2days before submitting her docs and she was given. She however submitted other things like statement of her salary account and wrote a letter of explanation. Like i said earlier, the 6months thing is mostly for savings and current account, not investment stuffs like FD and TB or Gift Deed.

House, i would like to know if one is receiving fund in form of gift covered by gift deed as POF whether it must still be in ones account 6 months before application submission ?

CIC does not require the fund to be 6months old, they just want 6months history(mostly for those using Savings or Current Account), the balance at 6months when you are submitting whatever you are using as pof is what matters so, your gift deed is not required to be 6months old.

yeah they evaluate it as first professional university degree. which is better than the ambiguity that trails WES' evaluation of law degrees undecided
google detailed evaluation criteria federal republic of Nigeria IQAS, a pdf doc will show....read from page 23 i think. just that like Chima said it takes ages to complete cry . infact slowlybutsurely says it takes about a year....so its useless to try them. well i dont want to be bothered by this thing again o cheesy

Concentrate on the Remark, the remark wasn't written for fun, it explains better the evaluation and captures the fact that its a First Professional Degree needed to practice, which is exactly how CIC stated what can count for a professional degree. Meanwhile, haven't you heard from them yet?

Do you know how it worked out for those with similar cases?

Didn't read any feedback on them, it's just my own double cent I gave. Meanwhile, those case officers can make mistake sometimes, maybe if she has time, she should request for GCMS Notes, it will reveal how exactly the case officer arrived at that decision and will better help her reply. It costs 5dollars, if she has someone there, let them so it for her fast so she can package a convincing reply.

Thanks so much for your response. Below is the letter:

Meanwhile, she submitted a Fixed Deposit certificate of ₦1,580,000 from Diamond bank and also evidence of investment of ₦464,240.85 from another reputable financial institution (Investment One). This brings the total to ₦2,044,240.85 which is equivalent to $13, 660.0(CAD$) using the calculator https://www.oanda.com/. So we are really confused about CIC's request because she is showing more than required.

We are wondering if CIC omitted the ₦464,240.85 because it did not come from a bank. We want to send a case specific enquiry on this or what do you guys think?

cc zandora, vcole

This is the same letter I keep seeing almost everyone they want to deny, I just hope they are not doing it deliberately. One possibility is that they likely worked with only one of the POF and left out the other one, something similar to this has caused trouble for people in the past. What she should have done was to write a letter of explanation as the first thing they will see on the page for pof, where she would explain she's using a combination of 2 pofs and give the official exchange rate and do the maths for them. That way, they won't have choice than to use the two. I actually don't think they can use black market, it's totally unprofessional. The solution may be to go to CBN's website and print out the exchange rate, then attach it the ones she submitted earlier and write a letter of explanation that it is the accounts she's using as her pof and that the exchange rate as stipulated by CBN, when you used to do the math for the combination of the two pof shows she has more than sufficient. Alternatively, she can get extra money from her parents and get a gift deed for it that they gave her as a gift for her relocation plans

It's not added and won't be added except you change the qualification from Bsc to Masters/Professional Degree and ensure you submit it as you are doing the process, that's when the 15marks will be added

Hi everyone

It seems cic is using black market rates for PoF. My person just got a letter from cic that she needs to show additional funds within 30days.

What are the options? Sell property? Gift deed?

Cc: zandora, jesusdway

If you can get a copy of the letter, we would better know what exactly the issue is cuz, asking for additional funds may also be because the person doesn't even have the required funds earlier or, submitted before the required amount for each family size was reviewed upwards this February so, let's have the real details and we can know what to advise. Of however the situation shows the person had the money but it's exchange rate that became an issue, then let the person get funds from his/her parents and let them write a Gift Deed for him/her, that should work

Is it bachelors degree or
2 or more certificate category?

As WES only asses degree how do I get to assess the acca.

ACCA is the only professional programme we have seen so far that is assessed as a degree therefore, you can assess both your Bachelors and your ACCA and you will fall under 2 Certificates.

this was Zandora's reply to someone in 2015. i dont know if she still holds this view. it'll be nice if she can help us out here.

Iphie....you are right all along, I think the problem with the back and forth between our amiable Dupyshoo and Nittaj is 'English'. What is the difference between Bachelor Degree and Bachelor of Laws? They are both first degrees, nomenclature is the difference and since CIC has elaborated on how we are to read ECA report of which the requirement for those classified as professional degree is 'First Degree required to practice' which is what is required here and the Credential and ECA remarks already stated it is 'Bachelor of Law' which is 'First Professional Degree'....it shows it is to be taken as such and gets the same marks for Masters. Furthermore, the Canadian Equivalent which is what is causing controversy is to be noted that Canadian equivalent will always state whatever is assessed and is acceptable as a Degree, Diploma or Certificate, there's no ECA report that will state its Canadian Equivalent as Bachelor of Law or Masters of Law or PhD Law, it will always be Bachelor Degree or Masters Degree or Postgraduate Diploma etc, it is the Credential and Remarks that will mention the specific.
