Hello, pls when is the application period for ontario PNP and general express entry? Is it all year round or there is a particular period u can apply for it. Thanks

Express Entry is all round the year. Ontario didn't put a date for theirs so, I suppose you can apply anytime you are ready

@ OP....it appears you want to go there and stay permanently, that's why you would be willing to spend that amount. If you are working presently or have a business but still feel like moving, I'll advise you do Canada instead. You will follow the normal immigration process and become a permanent resident there which after 4years, you become citizen. This is better as you have genuine papers and won't have to be running from officials or beg to get job if it were to be US as you won't have resident papers there and you can visit the US as you like if you are permanent resident in Canada. You can check for the Canada immigration thread on this travel section

Hey guys, I'm back with more questions oo. Please help out.

1) with the recent up shoot of the naira against the dollar, I am thinking of providing my proof of funds in USD when the time comes (please is it possible /acceptable?)

2) can I get a reference from my place of work now before I get ITA? Does the date on the letter matter? Does it get stale after 6months or something?

3) can I be a secondary applicant with an NOC code C?

4)i read on IELTS site that someone applying to CIC could request for another original copy of their TRF because it should be required. My question is- when are we required to send the original TRF to CIC?

Thanks my lovely Canadian colleagues for your answers grin

1.) Whatever currency your source of income is, try and leave your pof in that currency. Official rate is what CIC uses, not black market.

2.) If it won't take you time to obtain it, you can get it immediately after ITA but what if you see other opportunities like a PNP, you might need it at that point so, think about it

3.) Yes you can

4.) No extra copy of TRF is required by CIC o! You just upload a scanned copy of the one you already have with you when you want to submit your application after ITA.

Meanwhile, you've also been long on this forum and should be helping answer queries by this time. Kindly help start relieving the load wink

Hello to all the experts and guru's out there. I am new to this immigration thing and want to find out if for someone like me it is worth it. I desire a better life even though my salary is about 300k monthly. Although my wife does not work presently she has about 5 years experience under her belt. I am 33yrs old and she is 28, we have 2 kids. we both have social management degrees and a couple of professional certification. Please would considering going to canada a better option for us?

If it's better life you want, you can consider it but, better life over there does not translate to having more money which is what affords better life in Nigeria. If you consider that your children will go to school for free till they enter University, no worry about where your next meal will come from, possibly less hassles from family members asking for money grin and some other things, you might wanna switch. You will have to write IELTS and evaluate your qualifications with WES to determine it's Canadian equivalent before you can apply and, your wife should be better as the Principal Applicant cuz of age. Your professional certifications, if international in nature, will only be of benefit when you get there except for ACCA that may help you score more points for the immigration process

Verification is done with all schools regardless of the country. My Master's is from the UK and WES verified my transcript with my school.

Maybe your case is peculiar, yours is the first I'm seeing actually. No one ever reported theirs were verified, I at least know 2 people

Bro, God bless you. I have been trying to figure out how things work. pls I got msc subsea, should I send only msc degree to WES or both bsc n msc.
what if my school send the transcript, will it need verification again?

If its a Nigerian school, verification will be needed by WES. If it's abroad(i can talk for Europe and America), never seen verification needed for schools from those countries. If your Msc is from Europe or America, you may ask your school to send your transcripts to WES(ensure you give them the reference number WES will give you after you must have paid, that they should quote it on the cover note for the transcripts), while you send a copy of your certificate(quoting same reference number on it) by fax(fastest and cheapest means) to WES as well. You should have your evaluation done in at most a month.

thanks so much. Do you have any idea how much both will cost? IELTS AND WES??

52k IELTS. For WES, depending on whether you want them to send the evaluation to you by normal mail or courier, it could be either 233 or 322CAD. However, that is aside the money you will pay your schools for your transcripts and the money you will pay either for school to send the transcripts for you or you will collect it by hand and send by yourself. They will still send back your schools for verification and you need to have someone there monitoring it for you so that school can reply to it on time and, you will have to also pay for the sending of the reply(depends on your school tho but i advise you get it and send by courier - Fedex preferably as its pocket friendly and takes just 3days)

Good morning landlord, please how about Nigerian trained registered nurses and midwife? What's the steps to take?
Thank you, waiting for your response.

It's the same process. Pay for your evaluation on WES website, get a reference code and then go to your schools(i advise you get both nursing and midwifery transcripts sent to WES), tell them to send your transcripts to WES and they should include on the cover letter the reference number you got from WES. Ensure you know someone there who can help fasttrak things as WES will send back to your schools to verify your transcripts, the person you know there should help you fasttrack the reply, thats when WES will then do the evaluation. In the meantime, go to British Council website and register for IELTS Exam but dont pay online for it, get a bank draft of the amount for the exam as stated on their website and address it to British Council. Take it to their office and pay for the exam and get materials to prepare. You must not score less than 6 in each segment of the exam but believe me, you need more than that, try to score 10/10. When you have both the WES and your IELTS result, then you can apply to immigrate to Canada

You can do upgrade to Bsc in one year from UK Universities via distance learning if you have money. If you don't have too much money, you can look to India instead and do distance learning with accredited schools with sometimes school fees not more than 200k for a one year HND to Bsc programme. You can check www.peicentre.com for more details or look up the schools for yourself in India. You should however ensure they are accredited by AICTE, DEC and UGC India

I called WES today over the phone because my document is currently being verified and they mailed me on the 21st of January to tell me my copies of my documents have been sent to my school(I was lucky, they picked). The lady told me the letter sent to my school was just a standard mail and it wasn't a registered mail(A whole world organisation like WES?). I told her I already paid the 85 dollars for courier service and she replied that it's not for verification but for sending the final report to me.

She further mentioned that I have to pay an extra 85 dollars if I want the verification documents sent to my school directly.

Please can anyone advice me on what to do as regards this? Thank you.

It appears the standard mail flip-flop in delivery time. I've seen a situation where verification from WES got to school less than 2weeks but when they will send the final report, it took 2months via same standard mail. If you know you will require for the evaluation to de done as quickly as possible, you might want to consider paying that extra money but if you don't need it so quickly, you may choose to wait. However, it's likely its already in your school, just that those in charge may just not bother to know where exactly it went. You can ask someone to check for you in school, they should check Exams and Records or Registry or Transcript Office. It appears school usually abandons it waiting for the concerned person to come pay the money to send the reply to the verification

Ok this is better na as I'll only pay abt 35_36k

Are you sure your calculations are right? Check them again. Meanwhile, the fee for transcripts in each school differs and as such, you have to find out what your school's is. You can use FedEx for courier, it's about the cheapest and it's very very effective, costs 10,100naira and gets there in 3working days. You should print the Transcript Request Form from WES website, fill your part and give school to fill their part, you should also include copy of your certificate with the transcript and send everything together. Use your ATM to pay on WES website and make sure it's WES Canada website you use, and the one for 'ECA FOR CIC'

Meanwhile folks can also use fax to send copies of their certificates(not transcripts o!) to WES but ensure you quote your reference number on it if school is delaying with transcripts.

To those of you wanting to post the copy of your degree certificate to WES, you could scan it and email it to me so I can post it for you as it'll be faster and way cheaper - that is if you want though (I'll do it for free obviously and send u a copy of the receipt). I'm doing this to show my appreciation to those who told me to be patient in my job search and not give up because I've now landed a nice bank job grin

Hope I won't be delayed or asked for d law school cert considering it's included in my order?

Yeah, its fixed. Also, tell them to do the evaluation without bordering about your Law school transcript

good afternoon people. please I am already carrying out my WES evaluation credential. They sent me an email on the 21st January and 3rd of February that copies of my document had been sent to my school for verification but till now the school claims they are yet to reveive it. please I want to ask if anyone knows the courier service they use. do they use NIPOST or the likes of DHL? while paying for my WES i ticked International express. I graduated from Imo state university and our transcript system is manual. Please can anyone help me shed light on what to do as I would really appreciate this.

From experience, it is very likely its already with school, they just may not know which particular office it went. Check registry, transcript office or Exams and Records, it should be in one of those, tell them to check the mail movement book. Usually, seems school wants the person involved to come and pay the cost of sending the reply to the verification hence, the delay.

Thank you so much for that tip. Means I'll only send it to the legal profession admitting abi licensing body when I get there. I still need to ask: Shebi I don't need to go through d hassles of being licensed to practice law in Canada till I get there? Coz that one won't work o....lol. I called my account officer and he said I can pay the way you guys suggested. The earliest date I've gotten for IELTS is 5th of march PH. Well by then WES would hv been done. Means I can only open a profile in llate march. It's well. When you say current employment what if I resigned last year? Although the scope of my work experience is covered under the duties for 4112 lawyers and notaries.

When you get there and you still choose to practice as a Lawyer, you can find out what it takes but for now, no need for the hassles of licensing. Regarding the fact that you may have resigned last year, you only need to provide information for the period you worked.

Thanks Zandora for d prompt reply. I haven't actually and I didn't complete d payment form (the one dt redirects from WES' registration page) so what can I do now? Start a fresh payment process or not?
Also pls I'd like to know if any lawyer has been successful with d FSW programme or atleast attempted it. I sstill do not know if its necessary to send my Law school transcripts for evaluation? Anyone with knowledge on this should help me out.
Thanks.

Don't bother sending Law school transcripts, it wont fetch you any extra marks, your school transcript is sufficient. Meanwhile, it's your present work that matters more when you are applying, not majorly the course you studied. Even if you are a practising Lawyer, you should find the equivalent of what you do in Canada, its called NOC(National Occupation Classification), that's the work your application will be based on. Your level of qualification, IELTS Grade(you must not score less than 6 in any of the segment but know that you need far more than scoring 6 if you want to stand a good chance. You should aim at scoring the highest which is Band 9 abi it's 10), Age, no of years of work experience, etc, are what your assessment will be based on. Regarding payment for WES, you can look for the option of asking someone over there in Canada or US to pay for you with their credit card while you bargain with them the naira equivalent you'll pay them provided you can get anyone of such(that's for those who needs to use the naira)

I think we have got ourselves a " half full half empty" cup perspective here. An idealist applicant could wait endlessly for draw points to drop or for his/her CRS score miraculosuly jumps to the north of 450; but then, this may never happen as competition gets stiffer. On the other hand, a realist applicant with CRS score lower than 440 (who has maxed out language points and does not have his/her occupation in demand in other provinces) would see a great opportunity in the Ontario offer.

On the belief that Ontario is using the scheme to pay off their debt, that's also not true for some reasons listed below
1. Ontario is a huge province with a number of better alternatives to generate revenue asides immigration.
2. $1500 is not as pricy as you think when you bear in mind that the $1050 currently being charged by CIC/IRCC is highly subsidized. Ontario immigration office has simply refused to earmark any cent towards that.
3. All applicants who paid the fee enjoy the right of having their application being processed on merit. This implies that - Ontario do not just collect your money and sit on it, but they rather proceed to process every single application against each assessment criteria (age, language, BG check, ties to province, etc). The onus lies on each applicant to ensure they submit a water-tight application.

It's true that CIC do not catch late comers, on the other hand, migration rules are dynamic. Every single change has the potential of ending the migration dream, altogether. For instance, prior to express entry launch, having 67 points on the old FSWP point grid usually suffice, but not anyone. While all applicants in pool now have the 67 points, most are stuck and hopeless in the pool without a province nomination or LMIA.

In summary, if you are out there with CRS greater than 400 but less than 440 (as the chances of the draw points dropping to that range is low), I would advice you give Ontario a shot; especially if your occupation is not in demand in other provinces. A lot of people usually spend lots more in Canadian masters just to get a long shot at eventual migration.

Yeah, its 'Half-full Half empty' but the odds are somehow more and my emphasis is on those for whom that money may not be easy to come by. Even from your analysis, it appears things are tight for Ontario otherwise, they won't suddenly come up with such application fee for a programme they have not been charging money for before now and don't forget, they are the only province charging money, others are doing same programme without charging. Meanwhile, by bringing up the information that they are owing, i wasn't implying that it is the reason they are asking people to pay so they can use it to offset the debt but then, if they cannot allocate money for immigration processing which they have been doing before now, its safe to say things are tight for them.

Besides, look at it very well, why haven't they been nominating people since last year June when they started receiving applications and certainly collecting money? They have also said your money is not refundable and they have just 1000 slots, with the number of people who want to go to Ontario, i'm almost certain they would have exceeded the 1000 in applications, what then would be their criteria for selection and subsequent nomination? For me, having family ties and job offer is what may possibly help and even at that, its still speculation. Anyone can make their decision based on some of the info and insights we have shared here but whoever is applying should be prepared

$1500 is little price to pay for a Canadian PR and not when you stand a good chance of being nominated. If your CRS score is >400 but <440, I strongly advice you give it a shot.

Your wife got a good ielts score, what's her work exp and level of education like. You may consider making her the primary applicant.

The news we have is that Ontario is in debt of like 300Million Dollars(if i get the figure right though), i'm almost of the opinion that they may be using this means to gather funds. It is unprecedented in the history of Canadian immigration that a province will ask for a fee that is more than both application fee and RPRF of the Federal combined. Besides, they have been contacting people to apply since last year June, if they were to have been attending to the files as they come in, do we think the quota won't have been exhausted, considering that Ontario is where lots of peole want to go. Besides, they have said payment of the money doesn't mean you will be nominated. For me, the statistics are more against anyone's chances than in favour of it and as such, i dont advise that people should pay the money except if you have close family ties there and you are probably into IT(the profession get's attraction almost everywhere), and the money is something you didn't struggle to pay and wont be pained if they dont take you at the end of the day, then you may apply to Ontario and pay the money.

Just like you said though, they might make the wife the principal applicant

Good morning house. Please which province can i,a mechanical engineer with experience in automobile repairs apply to? And do i need to get a letter from the engineering professional body? I see saskatchewan as the only friendly province to international people. Someone suggested nova scotia but their requirements are pretty much. I was hoping for alberta but they require one having at least one year experience there and i've already gotten a letter of no objection from that province. Don't know if the ontario $1500 is worth the trial?

First off, you can only apply to a province when they announce that their Provincial nomination programme is open. Depending on the province, some may require licensing which i would rather you avoid for now till you get there. My advice is that you check Saskatchewan again and ensure you choose the Mechanical Engineering Technologists(NOC 2232) as it does not require licensing unlike Mechanical Engineering that requires licensing. Open an account on the SINP Application portal and fill your details and attach all required docs such that, at anytime they open it, you just submit, before it gets filled(people are speculating it may open in March). Regarding Ontario, except you know it won't pain you if they don't take you, i don't encourage people to apply for the Ontario thing. They have been contacting people to apply since last year June and i'm yet to see anyone who they have nominated. They have only 1000 spaces, do you think if they have been attending to them since then, they wont have gotten the 1000? Lot's of people actually want to go to Ontario and i believe the competition will be high but then, it's still your decision as it might work, but that is based on you scoring over 400 in your crs

I think it should be acceptable, as long as it has the required amount 3months prior to application and there's no drop in that amount
