I think wes does not evaluate ACCA or ICAN

See this faq link http://www.wes.org/required/faq/nigeria.asp

And I think I need to send my OND transcripts too as I entered the University through direct entry. Thus, I started from 200 level.

Please JesusDWay, zondora, everybody, am I on the right track here?

Just go ahead and register. Get school to send your transcripts and they should include copy of your certificate, quoting the reference number that WES would give you after you have paid. This is to let WES know the documents belong to you. Pay courier money to school for them to use courier to send it cuz WES will send back to school for verification. You need to know someone in school who will ensure school responds quickly to it so your evaluation can be done in time. As for ACCA, just send WES a copy of the notification of your result and ensure you quote your reference number on it. They will put the two together and let you know when your evaluation is ready. Don't bother about the OND, you will only be wasting your time

The below may be the reason why the provinces are yet to announce their plans and programmes for 2016

The 2016 immigration levels plan

The government of Canada is scheduled to table its 2016 immigration levels plan to Parliament on or before March 9, 2016. Among other details, this plan is expected to announce how many immigrants Canada aims to attract over the year and reveal a breakdown in the number of immigrants that will be allocated to the various Canadian immigration programs. This plan is usually presented by November of any given year, but has been delayed on this occasion due to the change in government at that time last year.

Interestingly, last December an IRCC Policy Analyst stated that there may be a correlation between the immigration plan and Express Entry rounds of invitations.

“We expect that in the new year when our rounds start growing — to meet our new levels plan — that the score will reduce,” stated the IRCC Policy Analyst, who added that “The number of invitations issued per round is expected to increase as the pre-Express Entry inventory of applications is finalised. In turn, it is expected that the minimum score of those that are invited to apply will drop.”

With this projection in mind, it may be the case that the objectives contained in the immigration plan will be the catalyst for a further reduction in CRS point requirements for draws from the Express Entry pool.

Wowwwwwww!!

I'm so excited I decided to check on here for info. You guys are doing such a fantastic job and with such joy too. God bless you all.

Pls I have some enquiries:

Hubby is a passionate medical doctor who has always believed in staying on and helping with the Nigerian project but so much as happened for some months now and he has finally seen that we need to seek better opportunities for our 2 kids. I am a lawyer and I hear law is now included in the list of professions that can be primary applicant but I still want him to be the primary applicant. How will this affect us?

He's 38, I'm 35.. How does this affect out scores?

Lastly and most importantly, are there any medical professionals from on here that went to Canada and are practicing?
Even though I have read their MCC and physicians apply website,I would just like to know how longit takes in reality to qualify as a physician. How do you cope in the meantime? Can we shuttle back and forth after obtaining the PR?

I'm excited that we are about to take this step at this time, at the same time, I'm scared . I hope we are doing the right thing...fear of the unknown*sigh

Pls kindly advice. Thank you all

It can be a daunting task taking a decision in the situation you are in but, the pros are more than the cons. Yeah, the fear of the unknown may be there but don't forget, the greatest risk is not to take a risk at all.

Don't know what your level of education is but if your husband were to assess his own, it's deemed the equivalent of Masters and helps one to have a higher score overall than someone with a Bsc however, age also determines your score and you have an edge there. Besides, if the school your hubby graduated from is in Nigeria, getting his MCC done can really take time and it's also costly but, he doesn't have a choice as it's needed for him to even be able to register and take the qualifying exams.

From my assessment, if you have a Masters, you are better as the Principal Applicant and using WES to do evaluation of your qualification will be faster than waiting for hubby's own which can only be done with MCC but if it's a Bsc you have, hubby will be better as PA but you will need to be proactive in finding a way by which you can get his MCC done very fast so that you can apply this year.

There are 3 stages of the qualifying exams to be able to practice as a doctor in Canada and from what I've heard, if you pass stage 1, you can use it to get a job. This stage 1 can be done remotely(don't need to explain what I mean here, a lawyer knows bigger grammar than an average person grin ) which can help him get a job faster so, no need fearing a future in Canada.

Finally, concentrate very much on your IELTS, whoever will be the PA between you two must score 8.5L, 8R, 7.5S&W, that's what will ensure you guys can score above 400 which may be necessary. Meanwhile, what kind of job are you doing? If it's something other than practicing law, one might be able to see if you can apply for provincial nomination

Thank you, that means I can start my wes before I write the IELTS. I will find out if ACCA gives notification of result sort of. What of the ICAN certificate, is it not relevant?

Naaaaa, not relevant. You should certainly start WES as it takes time, besides, it doesn't disturb your preparation for IELTS so, no reason why you should stop one for the other.

Guys I have gone through the thread and I want to begin my application now. I have registered for IELTS scheduled for April 2nd.

Can i start my wes evaluation now?

I have Bsc and prior to that I have OND, can I still include the OND? What about my ssce?

I have ICAN certificate already and I am an ACCA Affiliate (which means I don't have the ACCA certificate yet, but I have passed the final exams). Can I include these as well for wes?

Please I need a guide.

Thank you.

If you can get notification of result or something official from ACCA to show you have passed and qualified, then add it to your Bsc and send to WES. Forget about the OND, a diploma in this case is mostly only useful if obtained after your first degree.

Hello House, Please i need clarification on this issue. My brother is on a student visa in Manitoba(living in Manitoba for over 2 years now). He has also received an ITA and submitted an application for the Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program. My question now is, Can i apply for the Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program once he receives his PR or i need to wait for a year after his PR to apply for the MPNP. Please advice...

Well...he can file for you after one year of having landed in Manitoba as a PR but, as it happens that he's been living there before getting PR, you may need to ask him to find out if he'll be able to file for you immediately after his PR since he's been living there before now

I look forward to your response.

Yes you can. From what i read recently, it appears their is still grace till when PR is issued which will definitely be after you have landed so, quickly contact them and tell them of your situation.

Thanks sir. I appreciate. MPNP just gave general examples, no specifics per case. Birth certificate was mentioned though as one of the documents that could be used.

You know her name as it is on my wife's birth certificate will not be her maiden name but all other names are ok.

So I should proceed sir?

I think you should, at least her first name will be there but if she has marriage certificate, that one will show how her maiden name changed to what it is now so, add it. That should be water-tight proof.

Good evening house,

Trust we all had a wonderful day today.

Please I need the input of my elders in the house.

I got an advice from Manitoba province to submit my application based on the EOI I had earlier completed. My Manitoba Sponsor is my wife's uncle and I need to provide evidence of familial relationship.

Will the birth certificate of my wife's uncle and my mother-in-law showing the name of their parents suffice as enough evidence?

Kindly advise please.

I think it should, provided you add your wife's as well to show her mother's name as the one connected to the uncle. However, I will advise you look up mpnp site and get the requirements for proving familial connection.

Good evening house. First post here but been lurking forever. Pls is it possible to add spouse to profile after ITA.

No you cant. If you were married before entering the EE Pool and subsequently got ITA and you didn't disclose you are married, you have misrepresented and it can earn you a 5year ban from Canada. Even if you got married after you were in the EE Pool but before getting ITA, you still cant add your spouse, you have to decline the ITA and let your spouse write IELTS as well and possibly do WES in addition to jerk up your score to the level where you can get ITA again

I believe letter of reference from previous employer you obtained just before you left or after you left the company should be valid. The aim of the reference letter is to verify one's job experience and duration of the job.

This is what CIC says about PCC from countries you do not live any more "For countries in which the applicant no longer lives, the police certificate must have been issued after the last time the client lived in that country."

The only sure time they open is 1st or 2nd of January. Last year was different however, they opened it like 5 times and people are hoping similar thing will occur this year as well. As touching the list of occupation, the one they had in January last year was a bit different from the one they used for the rest of the year which was carried out early to this year as well so, it's what they bring out that people apply for

Hi. new to this thread. finally read all the pages. @zandora congrats on your job. apparently heaven heard your rant the other day. @jesusDway @irondome and all who contribute meaningfully to this thread, big ups!
Please i have a few questions to anyone with info.
1)As regards the letter of reference from previous employers as proof of w/e......what happens in a situation where your supervisor at a previous place of work no longer works there?
2)PCC from the UK, i know zandora and/or someone else posted a link for that but i honestly can't remember the exact page. if you do not mind, could you help with info on how to get a PCC from the Uk as well as estimated cost and an estimate of how long it would take?
3)Any info on Nigerian trained medical docs who have done their ECA from MCC? how long did the process take? any pointers as to how i can fast track or help the process along? how much did it cost?
4)As regards the evaluation of your highest qualification...now if Mrs X evaluates only her MSc. What would her points be on the CRS skill transferability section?.....would she fall under the section of "Two or more post-secondary program credentials AND at least one of these credentials was issued on completion of a post-secondary program of three years or longer" with a maximum obtainable score of 50? OR under the section of "Post-secondary program credential of one year or longer" with a maximum obtainable score of 25?
5)Same question no. 4 above for a medical doctor.
Thanks in anticipation.

1) There should still be someone there who can sign(not write, you should be the one to compose the letter for them and ensure its like 70% similar in job details with the corresponding NOC) for you. If they are not willing, your former supervisor can still sign for you but he will state it that he's no longer there but can then attach a copy of his business card then to show the company's logo.

2) Don't exactly know about this

3) The delay is mostly from your school's end so, that's where you really need to work on. I think the cost is over 600CAD, if not close to a 1k sef. Go their website and find things out for yourself - www.mcc.ca

4) If not 100% of the time, a Nigerian Masters Degree usually gets evaluated as equivalent of a Canadian masters so, there's no question of two certificates coming in. The Masters is higher than the 2certificates thing and fetches you more marks.

5) Your medical degree usually is evaluated as Doctor of Medicine which is the equivalent of a Canadian Masters Degree and that's what you will choose as the level of your qualification I.e Masters, when filling your EE profile after you must have gotten the evaluation done.

Advise pls! How do I go about the Canadian express entry.

I am a pharmacist same as my wife with an Msc in public health. I have gotten my documents evaluated by the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (towards writing their certification exams). But I think I shld give express entry a try. Useful information will be highly appreciated.

Go with what vcole told you and in addition, use the link below to calculate and determine who will score higher between you and your wife and subsequently make the person the principal applicant. Ensure you choose Masters for your Pharmacy qualification and also choose the highest obtainable score in IELTS in each case. See who has the highest score and then check your abilities on who can actually score higher in IELTS between the two of you and then take your decision.

Hello House,

Is the cost of MSC program cheaper for those with PR compared to intl students?

For those who have immigrated already - Does having a canadian degree also equate to more job opprotunities?

Kindly also shed more light on the ontatio nomination route.

Thanks in anticiapation

Yeah, tuition fee for a PR is cheaper than that of an International Student

Can't say much about your second question

Regarding Ontario, you have to be in the EE Pool and have a score of 400 and above which will make them contact you to apply. You can then prove to them how sure you are to eventually come to their province if they nominate you by using as many convincing factors as you can mull e.g, if you have family in Ontario, jobs you have applied for, steps you have taken to be a member of the professional body in charge of your occupation, etc

Yes you need to be in the pool before you apply. You even need your express entry number when applying for any PNP.

Not in all cases, there are PNPs that don't require one to be in the EE pool e.g, MPNP, SINP OID Category they can however be longer in processing

The first refusal really sad and I want to get it right this time. Please I need help. Thanks

You need to let us know if you were married before he applied or he had already applied before marrying you cuz, if you were married before he applied and subsequently got ITA, then he ought to have indicated he was married. If that is the case, I'll say he can't accept the ITA for now, he'll have to keep declining it till your own IELTS is ready and he then can add your result to his profile and then declare that he was married otherwise, they will see it as misrepresentation which can attract a ban of 5years from entering Canada. If it was after he applied and before being requested by CIC to submit his docs that the marriage took place, I will say he should send a mail to CIC explaining his situation and let them tell him what to do

People with less than 300 exist in the EE pool, the crs score doesn't determine your eligibility, it is the ranking score used in selecting people for ITA. Age, level of qualification, years of work and low IELTS are the bane of fsw

Lol Uncle JesusDway, the truth and the light... This matter wey you see so na long term plan o...I'm just strategizing hoping it'll materialize by God's grace.

On a serious note, the ONLY lady I have always loved would be due for NYSC mobilization/call-up November, 2016. My earnest dreamz and prayer is for her to bag her PhD just before 30 or @ most 30. We've been godly friends (because we two are genuinely saved/heaven-bound, by God's grace) for the past 5 yrs. She's super intelligent and I so wish she reach the peak of her career quite on time. She would be enrolling for her Master degree, immediately after Nysc.

To this end, I want to call a family confab when the chips are down to see to this;

(1) sponsor her and my twin brother's (who is currently in Nig. Law School with a GP of 4.0 plus in her last two years) for this express entry aluta to go meet aunty Zandora in Canada to get their PR status.

(2) These duo lovely sisters-in-Lord (because they both know JesusDway) would now come over to their home country (Nigeria) and have their dream marriages consumated, God willing.

(3) They would off course follow the laid down rules to sponsor us as spouses, as it then would be to Canada (while the duo pursue their PhD in Cd with lesser school fees, funding etc. So that I would just be Nairalanding from Toronto post work in our beautiful home.

Oh God, these and many more are my heart desires in Jesus name! Amen!!!!!!!

Good and great people of Nairaland, this is my justwise permutations. shocked

Apparently, it's a long term thing however, I must let you know that there's no PR without then having work experience so, you need to factor that in your feasibility studies(how they will combine Masters and working a type of job that can give them leverage to apply for PR. Besides, you guys need to pray and be firm in your decision to be with each other otherwise, circumstances more especially distance and naivety about relationships as I see it in your post, may make situation change(it's a practical scenario I'm giving you, trust me) so, for me, much as you can plan things the way you have touted, I will rather suggest that you apply now instead if you are qualified. You both will sort the marriage thing out later.

That's my Noblealuu grin advice as a journey companion on the way to heaven smiley

Your chances are dependent on the following factors - age, IELTS score, number of years of work experience and the classification of your occupation in Canada(the qualified ones must fall under Skill Level 0 or type A or B), and evaluated equivalence of your qualification.

One and half years work experience might not be helpful overall although it qualifies also, one doesn't know if your occupation falls under the acceptable class as I highlighted earlier(use the link I provided for someone in the previous page to find out).

You may use the link below to assess yourself:

Good evening everyone,

I have an OND & HND in secretarial studies, post graduate diploma in business administration and Masters in Public Administration, 8 years working experience in a bank though I was asked to leave in 2014.

what are my chances of applying for this Canadian visa and what are the processes?
Note: I have gone thru the thread but do not seem to really understand it.

Please someone should kindly put me through. God bless

Your chance of applying is the same for everyone who has been able to migrate there. You start with 2 things, writing IELTS and evaluating your qualifications(which I may suggest you bother only about your MPA), you can do this by having your credential sent to WES(world educational service, search for WES Canada and click on Credential Evaluation for CIC purpose, it will tell you the amount you will pay and how to register and the documents you are to send to them). It's imperative you score, infact aim at scoring all available marks in the IELTS General Training. Also, you need to find the equivalent of the profession you had work experience in, in Canada. Google NOC 2011, click on the link after you have seen it from the search result and then type a key word relating to your profession in the search facility of the website(it's the website that lists all occupations in Canada and you are just looking for the equivalent of your own). When you have both IELTS and ECA(Educational Credential Evaluation) and you have been able to find the equivalent of your occupation in Canada, you are then ready to apply. Below are the links you need for the initial steps:

IELTS - https://ielts.britishcouncil.org/CountryExamSearch.aspx

WES(for credential evaluation) - http://www.wes.org/ca/eca/

Occupation - http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/Welcome.aspx

Lol.....Whoever is coming back to marry you will do her job to know what it requires to bring you in. I think it's called spousal visa and for each province it seems the duration and modality varies. There's no time frame given, I think your strong ties to Ontario or how you can convince the immigration folks there may determine if you will get it. Things like registering with the professional body in charge of your choice occupation over there, job applications you have made and demonstration of your experience in the line may convince them to nominate you
