Please assist.

I am in Canada and want to apply for study permit for my 3 children (10, 8 and 7).

I do not have a letter of acceptance for them as the school board needs to see them first. My children are still in Nigeria.

Please advise. What do I do?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Jesusrules24: 9:13pm On Apr 05, 2021
Thank you so much for your response.

Just to be clear, are you saying that if I apply to withdraw the application, I can immediately reapply? I do not have to wait for feedback from Ircc.

Once I submit the webform for withdrawal, I can start another application?

JustMellow:
Hello Jesusrules24,

While not give it some time. Despite IRCC not attending to VV applications, some are however prioritized especially for the immediate family of a Canadian citizen or PR and spouse or dependent children of international students, or an adult accompanying a minor to come to Canada to help the minor settle.

If you will be resuming soon or already commenced study, you can watch how it will play out till after your first semester. Then you can decide to withdraw and apply for the SOWP from within Canada.

For now, you can send a webform to IRCC by reminding them of the need or importance of why your spouse needs to be with you in Canada without delay. I see you applied 2 wks ago, but one simple affectionate webform and/or email will not do any harm.

If the VV would be prioritized may boil to the necessity or reasons for the spouse to accompany or come to Canada.

Withdrawing now means an automatic refusal, so why not observe for a while before a hasty decision. Finally, once withdrawn, you can apply almost immediately.

Best of Luck

Hello everyone,

I applied for Visit visa for my spouse and now I want to change it to Spousal Open Work Permit.

Can I withdraw the application I have already submitted? My spouse has only gotten bvl, so nothing has really started as I only applied 2 weeks ago.

And if I withdraw it via the webform, can I immediately submit another application for SOWP.

I'll appreciate your responses. Thank you.

Hello everyone, I landed Canada about 13 days ago, so about to end my quarantine.

I am in Toronto and would love to be added to a Nigerian WhatsApp group.

Please if you belong to any WhatsApp group for new students/immigrants in Canada, add me.

I am alone here and I need as much support (information) so I don't make mistakes.

Thank you.

This thing is confusing oo. Some sent to Lagos and got a mail that their passport has been sent to Abuja. You sent your passport to Abuja and still got a mail that it has been sent to Lagos.
But it seems like Abuja is a better option to Lagos. We the upcoming batch dey learn o grin smiley
It was first received in Abuja, before I got a 2nd email saying they have sent it to Lagos. It was quite confusing though.

Yes Abuja is better.

It has ended in praise!

I sent my passport November 5th to Abuja VFS via, DHL.... 2 way courier.

About 3 - 4 days later, I got the acknowledgement from VFS.

And then I got an email saying my passport was sent to Lagos. (Which I didn't understand since I sent to Abuja.)
I received several other emails, counterfoil and letter of introduction.

Long story short, I received my passport yesterday via DHL.

I didn't have to call or send a message to VFS.

If you can, send your passport to Abuja VFS. Lagos VFS seems to be wasting too many people's time.

It shall end in praise for us all in Jesus Name.

PPR just dropped guys!

I am super elated!

Thanks so much to everyone on this platform that has been a source of inspiration and motivation: from those of you who shared your success stories, refusals to those who always answered questions.

I started following this thread last year and because of all the information here, I never needed an agent and was never confused about the whole process.

Below is my timeline. I hope it inspires someone.

First time applicant.
Applied: March 29th 2020, online.
Biometric request: March 30th
AIP: August 6th
Biometrics: August 25th (Covid hence the delay in biometrics)
Upfront medical: August 25th
Medical Request: August 27th

I sent a webform with my upfront medical done a day before the request. (I was going to travel to Abuja for Biometrics and I didn't want to travel twice, hence I did my upfront medical on the day of my biometrics. Lucky me, medical request came the next day)

September, October.... silence.

Then I saw a suggestion here about sending webforms to China and Nairobi.

I sent my webforms November 3rd at 12midnight to Beijing and Nairobi.

3 hours later, I got BVL.
November 4th (just now) PPR dropped!
I applied alone.
I used my husband and kids as hometies.

School: Centennial College.
Course: International Business Management (postgraduate)
My first degree is English, 2.1 but I run my own business, so in my SOP, I talked a lot about my business and how I chose the course to help me improve my business skills, so I can grow my business when I return.

Document Submitted:
3 page sop
Statement of result/certificate
Admission letter
Police clearance
First semester school fees receipt
My business CAC documents
2 photos of my business
My personal bank statement, business bank statement and hubby's bank statement. (I wrote that we were both going to split the cost of my studies and living expenses)

God indeed answers prayers. Thank God for his mercies. But you also need to get all the right documents.

Avoid lying in your application because their records are forever and your memory might fail. I was denied US visa in the past and I stated it.

I also have an active EE profile.

If you are just starting this Canada journey, read from the beginning of the thread and you would get all the info you need and you can save that agency fee.

I waited 8months to get the approval.

I hope this my long love letter helps someone.

Don't give up on the Canadian dream, even if you have been denied before.

Do it for your generation.

I sent a webform as someone advised here to Beijing and Nairobi at 12 midnight yesterday and by 3am this morning, BVL dropped.

I don't know if the bvl came because of the webform, but it's worth trying for anyone who is still waiting for the bvl.

This journey has been a long wait!

What response did you get? Did you get bvland passport request?

I wrote an email to my MP to complain about Nairobi Visa office and I got a response. Nairobi Visa office should be able to do better. If you know anyone in Canada, You can ask them to write their MP too.
Good luck everyone

This is the biggest test of patience. I applied since March, medical request since August and then nothing.

I have never monitored my email as I have been doing in the past few months. It's so tiring and disappointing.

It's even making me tired of my online study.

Anyway, as you guys like to say here 'It will end in praise for all of us'

Just that that end should come already!

Canada wetin we do you? Why you dey suffer us like this? Even UK sef don open since.

oma22:
Nothing o, the wait is exhausting. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Jesusrules24: 7:33pm On Oct 21, 2020
Don't give up at all. Start reading from the beginning of this thread, you would find a lot of useful information. It might seem like a lot to read, but when you go through, you would see that you do stand a chance.

It's all about the course you choose and how you package your application.

Canadian Study permit might be tough to get but definitely not impossible for you.

Also, feel free to ask questions here.

This Nairaland family is amazing! A lot of selfless people here.

Good afternoon everyone, for single moms who have gone through this process or for people who have ideas about this. (1) A friend wants to try this express entry process but she Just gave birth recently and isn’t with the baby’s father( she’s single not married) she wants to know how to go about it? She hasn’t collected her baby’s birth certificate yet and she wants to know if putting her surname on the certificate won’t have any issue with the immigration process concerning/asking about her baby’s dad??
(2) Will they ask for a consent letter from the child dad regardless of who’s surname is on the certificate? The guy isn’t in her life so she doesn’t want to even tell him anything about it, since it’s just her and her baby.
Pls so many responses will be appreciated
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Jesusrules24: 6:53am On Sep 16, 2020
As a mum, it is really difficult to imagine leaving ones children for a long period of time. So I understand why you want to apply with them.

I have seen a few people apply with their children and get the study permit, however, because of how the VO's are, you should aim to do everything to reduce the chances of a denial.

In my opinion, you should apply first without your kids and then apply for them later.

It is what I did.

I haven't yet gotten my study permit, but I have gotten AIP and medical request. I am trusting in God for the best/rest.

It's going to be a tough one for me because I cannot imagine going for long without my kids, but if it comes to that, then it's a sacrifice that would be worth it in the long run.

Applying with kids and getting study permit is possible, people do it.

But applying without them is just a way to improve your chances of success.

All the best in your application.

letskeeptalking:
I really don't see why I have to wait to get there first before applying for them. But that's what people keep telling me to do.

So so confused!

You are right that there are some good agents. However the comments I see here from people who have used agents aren't so pleasant. Hence my advice: it's his choice at the end of the day.

Besides, applying for a study permit becomes easy to do once you go through the thread and it saves funds.
Admin9:
don't tell him not to use an agent. If he has a reliable agent that has helped people in the past then i don't see any reason why he shouldn't use the same agent.

I think it's just better you give good reasons why he shouldn't use an agent than outrightly telling him not to use one. I have seen people that used agents and are successful.

In as much as there are bad stories with agents, I have seen good stories as well.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Jesusrules24: 5:09pm On Aug 27, 2020
From all you asked, I can only answer 1 question: DO NOT USE AN AGENT!

There is so much information here and so many people who would help you.

Go through the thread and you would see a lot of sad stories from people who used agents.

RKO1702:
Hi everyone,
I have been going through the thread and still trying to catch up, however, I’ll just like to ask my question as I haven’t found anyone in my situation per se.
I’m a PR and I want to apply for a student visa for my younger brother (16 years) to come to study here by next year fall(FALL 2021) in Canada in a school that’s in my province.
I have seen the requirements and documents I need to provide and I'm fine with that. He’s currently rounding up his WAEC and I know how to go about getting him admission, my concerns are around the visa itself. i'm trying to arm myself with enough information so i'll be prepared when we apply.

Here are my questions:
1. The plan is that our dad would be his main sponsor, but I would handle his living and feeding expenses and honestly, if I didn’t read this thread I would have mentioned that, but based on what I’ve read now, I feel like I shouldn’t mention that as it may prove strong ties in Canada and his visa may be denied. Should we just say my dad would be his main sponsor and not mention me as a co-sponsor at all.
2. Does he still need SOP, considering he’s just rounding up secondary school, I noticed there’s still a questionnaire that we would need to fill when applying?
3. Can someone please point me to anyone else that was in this situation and I can read up on that person’s profile.
4. Because he isn’t 18 yet, is there any other thing I’ll have to do or that I might have missed.
5. I’m honestly considering using an agent instead because I have seen a lot of refusals and this study permit is even looking difficult than when I applied for PR. What do you guys think?.
6. Are there any extra documents I should add apart from those that are being asked already, considering he’s just finishing secondary school and has no work experience
7. How do I prove family ties in Nigeria, I’m the only one here(Canada) and our parents and siblings are still in Nigeria. Any ideas on this, please.
I know my questions are plenty, but please kindly answer them if you can or point me in the right direction and I can read up.

Thanks in advance.

Lekiboboe:
Online booking seems to be the surest via their website
Try another Browser (like Google Chrome)

HOW TO BOOK FOR MEDICALS at IOMHAC Lagos or Abuja Center (Upfront Medical or if u got a Medical Invite)

1. I used their website and it worked fine for me. - https://mymedical.iom.int/apps/omas/

2) Go with your International passport. However, if you currently have a medical condition, go with your report and prescription.

3) If it is medical request, they won't give you anything to upload. If upfront, you will get a slip to upload.

4) Please do well to go there with proof of payment of medical fees.
I did not print my transfer slip and that caused a little delay for me. The officer wanted to send me out to print it but I had to practically force him to print it with the printer in the office.
This method may not work for everyone so please go there with the print out of your transfer. Also try to do the transfer two days before your appointment date. It'll make confirmation easy for you. In my case, the officer wrote "Pending" on my progress slip because they were yet to confirm transfer. Save yourself that hurdle.

Further advice:
- Go early. Book for 8am.
- Drink plenty of water before the medical screening.
- Relax, It takes approximately 2 hours 30 minutes. If you are healthy, you will be fine

This is really helpful. Thank you. I have been able to book.

I could not get an early date for biometrics in Lagos, so I am choosing Abuja instead.

I am trying to book for medicals in Abuja but the website is not so responsive. I have also tried calling the numbers on the website but they are switched off.

Has anyone done medicals in Abuja recently?

How did you book? Please help ASAP!
