Sports › Re: NFF Goes For Foreign Coaches by jidebaba69(m): 6:57pm On Jun 20, 2015 |
Chinum: In the wake of the Flying Eagles and the Super Falcons’ unimpressive outings on the international scene, the Nigeria Football Federation seems to be looking towards the direction of expatriate coaches to handle the national teams. While the football house would insist on having expatriates head the technical crews of the various national teams, the back-room staff would still be headed by the indigenous coaches.PINNICK-NFF
“The foreign coaches will be given convenient nomenclatures like ‘technical advisers or technical directors with the indigenous coaches working under them,”our source said. The Flying Eagles crashed out in the second round of the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup in New Zealand while the Super Falcons were shown the exit door in the group stage of the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.
According to a top NFF source, the Glass House has instructed top level football technocrats to shop for three technically competent coaches who would train the Flying Eagles, Super Falcons and the Golden Eaglets. The three tacticians are expected to come with their backroom staff but they would work with those Nigerians sent to England for courses in the technical study. The coaches who are expected to commence work in July would be expected to develop templates for the three teams as well as train potential coaches that would handle the teams in future.
It was also reported that the NFF will outsource the payment of the three foreign coaches through Public Private Partnership (PPP) with words rife that the federation chiefs are keeping the names of their partners under wraps until the details are sealed with all those involved.
- See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/nff-goes-for-foreign-coaches/#sthash.yrsHEYVS.dpuf I think that if we have to get a foreign coach, the he needs to be a top coach not just any trainer that has no job. We need to go for quality. |

Ganoderma: I'm with you on this one.
I used to be in support of giving the indigenous coaches a chance to do their jobs. It is still the best option, but only when there is a significant level of tactical and technical intelligence.
The current crop of coaches we have, have consistently failed in that regard.
Our girls had what it takes to have qualified from this group in terms of skills. I saw it in the match against Sweden and it was also on parade against Australia. It even showed up against USA. But while physical and raw skills got them a result against Sweden, it was the Coach's tactical and technical ineptitude that cost us those two matches.
USA did not walk Nigeria over. Infact the girls held them on. But the girls failed miserably in their cohesion, shape, transition and execution. They were just scattered across the field with no direction. That was the fault of the coach.
I'm beginning to also think that we should try female coaches fro the ladies if we can find. I have a haunch that the many of the girls were probably close to or in that time of the month. You're absolutely right. The thing is that it really hurts when you can see the raw potential in a team that totally lacking in shape or tactics. NFA should open their eyes and get good foreign coaches for this team and I am certain that we will see a much improved team because if we continue with the present set-up there will be no improvement. We will countinue to be local champions. We need to be more ambitious to move to the next level. |

Did they really think that they stood any chance at all? Living in a fools paradise. If you can't kill a cat what makes you think you can kill a lion. We need better coaches for all our national teams. When teams are evenly matched as per skill and ability it is tactical know how that wins the day and our coaches have zero intelligence. Ask them to explain their tactics and next thiing you will here is "my boys played to instruction" or " God did it for us". How do you win a match? You have study your opponent check out his strength and most importantly his weaknesses even during the match you must be very flexible and decisive. If a player is overwhelmed by the opposition then you take action either by telling the player what to do or making an outright change. Our coaches are fond of being personal when selecting their team. Benching the best players they as against the players that they like and it backfires. Case in point: Ihenacho of the U20. He could have made the difference against Germany but he was left on the bench and we lost. Basically we need foreign coaches. It's the only way forward. Our coaches are not up to scratch and if we keep deluding ourselves then we will have ourselves to blame when countries like Cape Verde will beat us in our own backyard. Shikena! |

The constituency allowances should be ensured to be properly utilized.
I opine these lawmakers should be part-time workers. Good idea. But I think constituency allowance should be cancelled. They should function as lawmakers and not execute projects because it gives a lot of room for corruption. |

Aminat508: A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu, has sentenced two drug traffickers to fifty-five years in jail.
One of the convicts, Deborah Okafor, a 30-year-old professional dancer, was charged with conspiracy, trafficking and unlawful possession of 3.450kg of amphetamine, while the other, Iheme Onyemauchechukwu, was charged with trafficking and unlawful importation of 9.975kg of heroin. They were both arrested at the Enugu airport.
A statement by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said Okafor would have been paid the sum of $3,500 if she successfully made her trip to Malaysia.
She was convicted and sentenced by Justice D. V. Agishi to 10 years each in counts one and two and 20 years in count three making her sentence 40 years altogether.
The second convict, Onyemauchechukwu, 27, was charged with trafficking and unlawful importation of 9.975kg of heroin. He was convicted as charged and sentenced to 10 years in count one with a fine of N1m and five years in count two with a fine of N500,000,000.
Okafor reportedly hid 3.450kg of amphetamine inside the pockets of jean trousers in her luggage.
She told the court that she was broke and needed money. “I had been approached on many occasions to smuggle drugs but I declined. I thought that I could earn some quick money in few days,” she stated.
Onyemauchechukwu said he was recruited in Tanzania by a suspected drug cartel in East Africa. He told investigators that he smuggled drugs because he was stranded.
“I used to sell phone accessories before I left the country. I wanted to go to Malaysia in search of job opportunities but I was stranded in Tanzania. Then I met a Nigerian who gave me money and promised to assist me get back to Nigeria. He offered to give me some money to start up my business. He later took me to Bujumbura in Burundi where I was given 9.975kg of heroin hidden inside cosmetics,” he stated.
NDLEA Chairman,Ahmadu Giade, expressed satisfaction with the judgment.
He said, “While this punishment is expected to correct the convicts, it will equally help to deter others from getting involved in drug trafficking. The agency commits huge resources in drug investigation, arrests and prosecution. Judgment like this will further lend credence to the nation’s anti-drug campaign.”

Dede is a terrible keeper. I rate whyte far above her all she has is her looks. Poor choice for our keeper. Nkwocha is way too old. At 39. (She might be older). Tactical arrangement by the coach is non-existent. All l can say is that our national teams need the imput of good technical minds so we can move forward. We have good players but we don't have good coaches to manage them. We can afford the best coaches for our country so let's stop mucking around and do something positive for our national teams. |

Holyfield1: BENIN— NO fewer than 14 Junior Secondary School, JSS, students have been arrested by the Police in Edo State over alleged involvement in cult-related activities in Benin. Vanguard gathered that the students, whose ages ranged from 12 to 15 years, were said to have been picked by policemen at Oguola Secondary School, along St. Saviour Road in the state capital and were being screened at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Police headquarters, Benin. Principal of the school, Mr. Ehanire Reuben, said eight of the students were allegedly arrested in the school compound, adding that their arrest prompted the police to conduct a search on some students in the classrooms. He, however, said prior to the arrest, he learned that a student teacher in the school was attacked and his phone and wallets taken from him by some students, who also attacked residents in the area. He pleaded with police to release those found to be innocent. Edo State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Innocent Onwochie, in his reaction to the development, said the arrest was made following a tip-off, adding that those arrested were under-aged. He said investigations on the issue had been stepped up, promising that the police would leave no stone unturned in its war against cultism and other criminal activities in the state. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/14-jss-students-arrested-for-cultism-in-edo

hardywaltz: Season of Death Nigeria needs to totally reset itself.
It's mostly in Nigeria that u see people living off the high way (interstate roads), build major markets along highways or filling station without proper setbacks.
Back in the 80s duh the roads where narrower but major highways had those aluminum guardrails that prevented cars from skidding off the road and people were not expected to live on those roads.
Any car that loses control will definitely cause several damages. You need to tell them that at iyanoba market where traders sell on the road pushing commuters to struggle for space with vehicles. A dangerous trend. |

talktimi: Photos of Nigeria's first lady wearing an expensive watch led some Nigerians to ask whether they undermine President Buhari's "man of the people" image.
In March, Muhammadu Buhari was elected as Nigeria's new president after a campaign which took a strong anti-corruption stance. Buhari underlined his humble credentials by raising money from ordinary voters. He even had to stretch his finances to pay the fee to register as a candidate.
This image was diluted somewhat when his wife, Aisha Buhari, was pictured wearing an expensive-looking watch at her husband's inauguration last week and these images were shared on the Instagram account of the photographer George Okoro.
Nigerian press described it as a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-carat white gold diamond timepiece that was estimated to cost around $50,000 - more than £30,000 or about 10m Nigerian naira. Others, however, pointed out that knockoff versions are available for as little as $100.

Around 3,000 tweets mentioning the first lady's name and the word "watch" have been posted. Many were critical and raised a sceptical eyebrow about where Mrs Buhari might have got the money to buy such an expensive piece of jewellery. "Aisha Buhari will be wearing a N10million watch and her husband told us he borrowed money to buy his presidential nomination form," said Twitter user Kate Vincent.
But others defended her: "Aisha Buhari didn't use Nigeria's money to buy her watch so what exactly is the problem? Am i missing something? Why is it a big deal?" tweeted @SalaudeenNana.
Blog by Mike Wendling http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-32991164 Just because you have a tough stance on.corruption does not mean that you can't buy yourself beautiful things especially if it with your hard earned money. Why we even discussing this? Let the man work. |
