They didn't provide any info about the ballistics protection and the armour of the vehicle and you're already claiming it can be destroyed by an RPG. It this exact MRAP was provided by the US, you would've rushed to praise it
Many people don't realize that technology must be married to operational techniques. In an ambush, the procedure is to shout a code word for ambush and get out of the vehicle fast if the road in front is blocked. If the enemy fires RPG, shout "incoming ". Keep engaging on foot while the gunners use the 12.5mm machine guns and grenade launchers. MRAPs are not to stay put in one place and take fire. They are to kill the ambush party with combination of the protection, the ojboard weapons and dismounted troops. Practice and inventing new simulated exercises are tue way to go

NIGERIAN ARMY TO LAUNCH INDIGENOUS MINE RESISTANT AMBUSH PROTECTED VEHICLE

The Nigerian Army is set to launch its first indigenous Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle designed and built by Command Engineering Depot in collaboration with the Defence Indhustries Corporation of Nigeria. It is named ‘EZUGWU MRAP’

The 4x4 Armoured Vehicle is designed to carry out transportation in smooth and rough terrain. It has capability to assault with high volume of fire.

The primary armament includes a 12.7 mm Anti-Aircraft Gun and a 7.62 mm Light Machine Gun. It is good for counter-terrorism, maintenance of stability and also a perfect vehicle for urban warfare.

The vehicle is characterized by good protection performance, strong cross-country capability, high reliability, easy maintenance, and can operate in severe cold as well as sweltering desert areas.

It carries a crew of 12: commander, driver, two gunners and eight soldiers.

You are kindly requested to disseminate above information to the general public for awareness. Thank you for your usual cooperation.

1. If you are carrying 12 passengers, a 6x6 chassis/driveline is better than 4x4 otherwise too much sway and bad structural dynamics

2. Put double redundancy on the ventilation /airconditioning system and we need a plant that can produce more than ten Ezugwu MRAPS a day.

The real helicopter gunships are not up to 70. Nigeria had about 12 to 34 A109s doing nothing but utility for many years.
MI 24/35P/35M not all in active service.
I agree we should be using a lot of L-39s in the daytime. F7NI is useless on the battle field only good for destroying bases

WRONG INFORMATION

This order for 12 MI 35M helicopters is for Niger Republic . Nigeria ordered a first batch of 12 helicopters years ago and six have been delivered.

Buhari is asking for more choppers but we are not sure yet if they are an incremental order, a more advanced version like MI 28NE or Kamov.

However the remain six MI 35Ms must be delivered first.

This story is about Nigerien order as the name of their foreign minister clearly shows. Boko Haram is in trouble.

The Nigerian Army has ammunition in inventory. They have spent more than $200m from Excess Crude Account to order ammunition, base security equipment, surveillance equipment, about 35 tanks MBTs, about 30.MRAPs and many IFVs. Some have arrived, some will take six months and some will take two years.
How do I know?
I know because the former minister of defence said it clearly and openly but most Nigerians are either too dumb or too lazy to follow things only to display ignorance on social media.

Nigeria is being even very very clever with armoured vehicles. We are making 75% of all vehicles that NA will use while importing only turret and guns

You must be one of this dirty and shithole APC politicians!

Do you think that all the folks criticizing the present government are really in severe pain? There are massive number of people that are well to do in society that are clamoring for a better country.

Why is it that you always flex your muscles when there are positive news about this country but hide your dandruff-invested head inside your dead ram meat BBQ shop when there are unpleasant news. The manner at which you are even quoting people here on NL depicts that you have alot of free-time or jobless.

Guy, wake up, Nigeria is in mess, and in a sane environment, there must be opposition. Hunger and poverty are in the land. Stop cursing those that are criticizing the Buhari govt because they have the right to do so.
Most folks cricizing the current government are definitely in severe pains. Pain does not know how many.millions you have in.the bank, its about the number of opportunities to rip off Nigeria that the current economic policies has destroyed.

Look at the idxot talking about the President speaking what he called "accented English " at a high level bilateral meeting with Russians? Presidential remarks that pass through interpreters before getting to the Russian side of the table. Is that an educated guy making that statement or some low IQ, insecure, local breed?. So if this cretin were to be President, he would be affecting his accent and faking his English instead of getting his points across in a context where security issues, power, steel and self sufficienxy in wheat production are big need areas requiring mutually beneficial relationship.

I have also noticed a lot senseless snd downright unpatriotic comments related to border closure, taxation revamp and so on.that confirms that most PDP supporters are locally bred products of Nigerias defective educational system combined with destructive fake, urban culture derived from attempts to mix the worst of the west with the worst of Nigerian. Yet they dont even realize they are dealing with negative strongholds that will destroy their future.

You grew up as a toddler under Abacha regime, started knowing the world under OBJ administration and became socially conscious under Yardaua and GEJ and you think you are normal. You are NOT.

You have not seen best practices. Abacha was evil, OBJ was a corrupt bully and Yaradua/GEJ were weaklinga installed by a corrupt bully. GEJ even more so.

After that go write an essay about what Nigeria needs to be doing to see if it will detract markedly from what Buhari is trying to do

WARTHUNDER:
No, methinks it is wrong. As a career lecturer in a Think Tank Strategic Studies Institute I believe more helicopters for NA or NAF, will not end Boko Haram war. Nigeria spent a whopping $ 1 billion to buy 70 combat helicopters now deployed by NAF, as in 50 heavy armour heavy firepower Mi-24 & 35 Hinds, 20 armed Puma, EC 135, Agusta 109. If 70 helos cannot finish BHT in 10 years, it proves limitation of air power in a land war. If NA cannot beat BHT on land, something's wrong with NA fighting capability and thats what Senate must spend money to correct by getting long range night vision equipment, land based ISR, HESCO base walls, capable cheap AFV like 23mm x 2 MT-LB or fast agile light tanks e.g. VT-5 high speed, long range night vision combat enabled mini-tanks.

ISWAP BHT attacks mostly at night, armed helicopters cannot I.D. own troops from terrorists, the Black Hawk Down real life movie shows US Army helicopters pilots kept saying no target I.D, it's very hard to identify own troops from enemies at night.

NA is boldly repeating it`s army aviation helicopters will be parked beside tanks, Jeeps, troops, all together inside a trench! Wow! Never seen such anywhere. Black Hawk down proves armed helicopters are not solution to defeat land based insurgency. Watch that real life movie again in full as the war happened in Somalia, estimating numbers, 20 well armed helicopters gave close air support for 24 hours to 100 elite US Army troops, best soldiers worldwide, 2 helicopters were shot down without any SAM missile. 20 helos could not save two platoons size 100 soldiers, until the US Army General begged the Pakistani army to send in 15 AFV of 2 tanks, 13 APCs and what 20 great combat helicopters failed to do for 24 hours air support, the 15 armoured vehicles completed the job in 2 hours saving all soldiers back to base. Somali insurgents wasted ammo, no AFVs was lost while 2 helicopters were shot down and other 27 helicopters ran away when the US General said "I cannot risk another loss of helicopter. Tell the Pakistani General to help us send AFV or else 100 American soldiers will be dead in body bags soon." I am just saying this in the best interest of our army.
You are getting this very wrong. First of all, as said before and someone also repeated, "in the trench with us " merely means something like "the choppers would be parked inside the Super Camp under NA control.

Pls what is this one about comparing a single incident involving a company of US troops trapped inside a built up area inside a densely populated city in Somalia with Nigeria Army's current context of aggressive patrols from Super Camps, hunting and killing the enemy and denying them territory over wide sparsely populated areas.

Kindly understand our problem statement before distracting the authorities with poor advice who have been trying to bring the war to a quick close. Choppers have been fairly effective against BHT but the NA needs more stand off missiles.

You are correct about long range detection of attacks on camps but some of the recent haul of weapons Nigeria Army received recently were GROUND RADARS capable of more than 20km detection of hostiles and many other electro optical observation equipment.

Lets us not distract the NA. Aggressive patrols on land backed by choppers will destroy ISWAP. If we can keep just 10 choppers and 5 aircraft in the air for two months waoiling and kiling, ISWAP would be dead

PoliticsRe: What Is Your Opinion About The Nigeria Land Border Closure? by Jimi24: 10:02pm On Oct 23, 2019
Bidphil:
Love your response, however, I believe it's not a bright idea. We could have allowed market competition to take place and invest more in Agriculture rather than an outright ban. The move is short-sighted. Let me break it down.

We currently do not have the capacity to meet the demand for rice. In marketing, the audience decides which products to consume or not but you can always tilt them to your side if you're wise. It's an open secret that most of our political leaders do not patronise our locally made products, you can't compel people to eat what they do not love, in the end, they'll become rebellious and you'll lose.
The quality of our rice is currently not a match to those imported ones.
Looking at the employment aspect, we're losing because so many people trade with landlock countries using the land borders. We definitely can't make unemployment become worse.

The fact that smugglers are using our porous land borders is a testament that our custom officers are incompetent.

If FG is passionate about improving local productivity, we would rather be creating an enabling environment for investors. But Herdsmen and kidnappers would chase them away.
Rice is just 4 MONTHS. Plant, fertilize, de-pest, scare birds and harvest.
Pls get real. The border should be locked tight. It is very disappointing the way Nigerians think. Who is talking of meeting local demand?.
Nigeria wants to be a RICE EXPORTER.
Dangote, Coscharis, about 25 state governments are going into it. Nigeria would be harvesting there times a year for every ha planted.

You dont know whats on ground.

We live in animal kingdom where anything goes. The government cannot close border or ban importation of highly demanded good outrightly without putting measures in place to meet it's demand.
First, it was OBJ regime that first ban importation of rice, used cars and used clothes without providing alternatives for the teaming population of Nigeria.
What did we gain from that exercise, nothing, absolute nothing. Demand for these products made the importers to use Benin ports to import these goods and smuggle them back to Nigeria through our porous borders.
Yaradua took over and relaxed OBJ ban but the importers keep using Benin Port for their importation as is cheaper for them.
The truth is that Nigerian government is the problem not Benin or Niger you don't mess around with these countries policies but Nigerian government are never sincere in their policies especially when it concerns the citizens that's why most people flaunts government policies especially when it comes to the public.
All of you hailing this administration on border closure are jus being narrow minded, we should be demanding government commitment in helping to make the production of the banned goods possible, cheaper and affordable.
There is NO ban on imported rice through our ports. Always, always
.do your research before posting. Imported rice cannot land Nigeria below N15,500 per bag. That's why some guys are smuggling. If everyone imports rice through OFFICIAL and legal points of entry, Nigeria will make a minimum of N350bn in duties.
