The Chinese specific requirements being a very large country cannot be met by this aircraft but most Arab and African countries not interested in geographic power projection find it useful but no less potent. The LCA is also short legged and it is an Indian development. Short of the Russian SU 30MKI and more recently the Rafale, India does not have any heavy weight combat aircraft to speak off. Pakistan is countering with ageing F 16s but JF 17s Block 2 and 3 are being prepared as potent answers to SUs. So where's this idea about being cheap equala being weak coming from?
