PoliticsRe: GEJ Is A Good Man, But Buhari Is A Better Leader -Biafran Army Captain Leo Amadi by jjcbuthot: 9:17pm On Jul 07, 2013
ceah: By Daniel Abia

Snr Correspondent P/Harcourt

THERE seems to be a very dark cloud hovering around the 2015 general elections which may bring catastrophe to Nigeria similar to the 1967/70 civil war that claimed the lives of well over two million civilians excluding soldiers. This fear was expressed by a former Captain in the Biafran Army, Captain Leo Amadi who in an exclusive telephone interview with Sunday Independent in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, said that Nigeria risk another period of carnage if things were not done the right way.

Amadi said that President Goodluck Jonathan was “too weak” to lead Nigeria out of the present politico-economic logjam it finds itself, adding that what the country needed was a leader with a strong political will to deal with the elements of disintegration and economic uncertainties that are threatening the corporate existence of the country.

He explained that though Jonathan has done his best in putting Nigeria on the path of greatness, but Buhari should be the best choice for the country at this period of its near collapse, insisting that a desperate situation requires a desperate solution. “Jonathan is a good man. He means well for Nigeria. But Buhari is a better leader. He is not corrupt. He has the political will that is needed to tackle all the problems confronting us at this point as a nation. Buhari is the man that is capable of handling the nation at this critical moment of our lives as a country.

“I have never seen Buhari in my life. He was in the Nigerian Army while I fought for Biafra. He is a Muslim and I am a Christian. But the things he did when he was a Military ruler were amazing. For the first time as a nation we were a disciplined people and corruption was at its barest minimum. The economy was at its best and not what obtains today.

“What we need as a country is a corruption-free society. Nigeria is a very rich country. But corruption is tearing us apart and this could be attributed to bad leadership. That is why we should push for a leader who has a strong character and a strong will to rule us.

“There are strong leaders in Nigeria presently. But they are too corrupt to lead the people. This is where the likes of Buhari fit in.

“I see a bloody revolution beckoning on Nigeria if Jonathan wins the 2015 election again. The country may go into another civil war if the result of the election goes the other way. That is why Buhari should be given a second chance to rule Nigeria and rid it of corruption”, Amadi said.

Captain Leo Amadi who was in charge of a Company in the 30-month old war between the secessionist Biafra and the Nigerian Army said the only available solution to the present problems confronting the country was “a bloody revolution”. This could be likened to what obtained in Ghana under Flt Lt. Jerry Rawlings.

“Today Ghana is peaceful and many Nigerians are running there to either do business or spend their holidays. We may experience that kind of treatment here in Nigeria if we really want to be free as a people”.

The little reactionary efforts we are seeing today from GEJ are made possible by the opposition - thanks to them. If GEJ does anything meaningful at the end of the day, all thanks should go to the opposition groups who have so far put him on his toes.

I can see some of the commentators here are villagers.

What GEJ admin did there was just a cosmetic upgrade - changing tiles and covering the walls with allum plates, etc.

Nothing still work in the airport. No expansion, the air condition doesnt work, parts of the airport still smelling like dumping ground, the conveyor belt still old and none functioning, etc.

When you travel out of your villages, you will know what an airport should like in this age and time.

atlwireles: I'm surprised at the disparity around the country. Here in delta state around the warri/ughelli areas power supply is a non issue. 18-22 hours per day is common.
People in villages have always enjoy light more than people in the cities. I can remember even during Abacha regime, states like Osun, etc enjoyed power supply more than other highly populated states.

Coming here to say GEJ has perform wonder because a few villages have light doesn't make sense.

I am working on my battery now - on sunday that most most industries are shut down. What improvement are we talking about?

Tell me how the SoE has worked? 30 kids killed in one single incident...

I know where we are going... SoE will be extended to all NE states and gradually to NW. The plan is to cripple the north ahead of 2015 politically. Unfortunately the dumbos/vultures called northers leaders can't read between the lines.

Opposition is opposing SoE for this reason. They know the plan is to cripple the north ahead of 2015.

SoE now Borno, Adamawa and Bauchi.... next will be Yobe. And they will cause mayhem in other states as we approach 2015 to make SoE possible.

Lets wait and see.

It may be long though, but we will surely get thr.

Plus, we need to hear from people in other areas of the country.
Will you shut up your mouth? Do you have to be searching to see improvement?

Electricity supply has not improved in my area and elsewhere. We still run around looking for fuel to run our generator sets everyday.

I know the liars leading the country will try to deceive the people as election approaches with short term effort to provide electricity. But we will be back to nothing again after election. I just pray God doesn't allow GEJ to come back, otherwise, the second 4 years will be hellish for Nigerians - we will have to deal with the most reckless prodigal leader in the history of Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: 4 Nigerians Killed In South Africa by jjcbuthot: 9:51am On Jul 06, 2013
addey: Johannesburg - Four Nigerians died when a group of men opened fire on them in Benoni, on the East Rand, police said on Friday.

Five men were in a Volkswagen Golf on Thursday evening when a car stopped in front of them, police spokesperson Tim Masilela said.

A group of men got out of the car and opened fire, killing two men in the Golf.

A wounded passenger tried to run away, but collapsed and died a few metres from the scene. A fourth man died later in hospital.

The fifth man in the car was not hurt.

"The motive behind the shooting is unknown.

Police are still investigating," Masilela said.

Last Saturday, three Nigerians were killed in a cellphone shop in Voortrekker Street, Benoni. They were inside the shop when five armed men entered around 18:00, police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said at the time.

The five opened fire, killing two of the customers, both 38, inside the shop, and the third man, 40, at the shop door.

The gunmen fled in a green BMW. They were also believed to be Nigerians, said Dlamini.

He said the police found spent cartridges at the scene, and a licensed firearm belonging to one of the men who died.

Nothing was stolen.

PoliticsRe: 2015: Why Buhari Matters By Chido Onumah And Godwin Onyeacholem Posted: July 4, by jjcbuthot: 2:14pm On Jul 05, 2013
Nashville: This is Nigeria we are talking about not America. Either way, we are not going to get real change in 2015, let's face it. What we may get is a gradual move towards real change as our politicians will begin to understand that power actually belongs to the people. Right now, the PDP believes they do not need to perform to win an election, however, if they lose then everyone will sit up and begin to do something.

On the issue of Tambuwal, while it is not the first option, it may be a last joker. Buhari still continues to be a hard sell especially in the South and some of his utterances of late about Boko Haram have turned alot of Southerners against him and even lots of educated Northerners. So the presidential candidate for APC is still very open unlike the VP candidacy which I think should go to Fashola. So when considering Northern alternatives to Buhari, the field is small. Certainly not Audu Ogbeh. The only viable candidates are El Rufai and Shekarau. For me Ribadu does not have the clout of political following yet so leaves only El-Rufai and Shekarau. Tambuwal, I see has a large following the North and if he quits PDP and joins APC, his followership will double.

I am still not saying that is what will happen, all I am saying is do not rule it out completely as I know they are already talking to him.
Stop saying Buhari is hard sell in the south. Which south? South West, East or South?

Tell me any northern politician that can be sold to South South or South East that will make them abandon GEJ. Rubadu? Shekarau? How many votes did those get in 2011 in those regions?

And, how sell-able is GEJ in the north? He can only use state machinery to rig election there and the rigging will even be very difficult in 2015. So, when you talk about someone is not sell-able, you need to understand what you are saying, and not just talking because bigots in the east and ss are saying the saying this.
PoliticsRe: Is Buhari A Boko Haram Sponsor? by jjcbuthot:
Buhari Boko Haram sponsor? What kind of senseless question is this?

Buhari giving weapons or giving money to terrorists to destabilize the country? How and for what reason?

Do you think a strong opposition leader like Buhari who has not declared himself a rebel leader will want to have anything to do with a terrorist group? It will be like pouring petrol on himself for any smoker in the ruling party to burn into ashes.

All those saying Buhari is a boko haram sponsors dont know what they are saying - they dont think at all not to even talk of critical thinking.
PoliticsRe: 2015: Why Buhari Matters By Chido Onumah And Godwin Onyeacholem Posted: July 4, by jjcbuthot: 1:04pm On Jul 05, 2013
Nashville: I think the writter of this article is 100% correct. That is the only chance the APC has of winning. If Buhari can hold on to the 12 northern states he won in 2011, and Fashola can deliver the South West, the APC will win. Anything addition coming from Edo/Imo will only cement their victory as I think APC will do well in both Edo and Imo.

Having said that, I would not be surprised if APC recruits Tambuwal as presidential candidate, as this will break PDP further. Fashola just has to be on the ticket as vice-president if they hope to win the South West and even more states because I see a future President in Fashola.
It wont make any sense to recruit a DPD member as presidential candidate - this will blur the divide between PDP and APC(opposition) and PDP will capitalize on this during electioneering. And by the way, what does Tambuwa represent as a person that will give him the kind of followership required in the north and across the country? Taking side with the opposition because the opposition ensured his appointment as speaker is not enough to make him a presidential material. We want real change, not all these "Agbada" wearing politicians in Abuja. I have not seen any impact he made as a speaker of the house in that national assembly - hence, APC leaders will not be so dull to even think about Tambuwa as an option except they dont see what we see or they dont know why we want PDP out of power.

Ptimes: The Nigerian Senate relived a brief moment of its chaotic past Wednesday after two members targeted each other at an irate session over a proposed law compelling the president to deliver a state of the nation address yearly.

Kabiru Garba Marfa, who represents Zamfara State, and Paulinus Igwe, a Senator from Ebonyi State, set out for fisticuffs before they were separated by several other senators who had deliberated the law for hours without a decision.

The legislation, approved by the Senate and the House of Representatives, has been rejected by President Goodluck Jonathan who has raised concerns with several aspects of the bill.

eGuerrilla: The problem here is that, much like every other Buharite on NL, dogmatism prevents you from engaging with a different set of arguments. At each and every turn, you throw up the limitations of GEJ, as if this alone is what qualifies him (Buhari) as a credible candidate. To me, this reeks of intellectual laziness and also paucity of thought.
Why not just give us alternatives and give analysis of why you think they can do better? However, dont talk about age of the contestants as age of previous leaders as not been the cause of our many problems. Start from where we are today, how we got there, what we need to do differently and the profile of people that fit the change we require.
PoliticsRe: List Of Names Of Christian Excos In APC by jjcbuthot: 5:16pm On Jul 03, 2013
Joyfullyme: The person that wrote this list should have just let the issue die.
Nigerians normally don't hold on for too long.
You should realize when you have lost a point.

Well one of the people on the list actually just resigned from APC and his reason was that APC has a clear sectional and religious slant to it.
Who can guess who the person is?
That a person resigns takes nothing away from a party. or is this one person more than the sixteen remaining xtians?

No permanent friend in politics but permanent interest... People go people come.

Anyway, I hate when people bring religion into politics. You mess up the two when you do so.

Politics is about the reality, thinking and working hard. Religion is about shortcut and lazily hoping to get what you didn't work for. Now, tell how a serious minded nation that wants progress should give religion any thought in its political landscape?
