Mkenya2019:
How much do you think South Africa makes from hunting; and from Safaris? It seems to be less than 100M dollars. I bet Safaris bring more money.

South Africa has biggest hunting industry - the figures are grim - not even 1 percent of what safari/photography tourism generates.

Trophy hunting accounts for a fraction of the R323 billion that tourism contributed to South Africa’s GDP in 2013. About 8,500 trophy hunters visit South Africa each year, compared to around 9.5 million tourists.

The 2006 Biological Conservation paper estimated “a minimum of 18,500” hunters participated in hunts annually in sub-Saharan Africa (generating revenue of around US$201 million), compared to World Bank estimates of around 33.8 million visitors in 2012, earning the region US$36 billion.
https://africacheck.org/fact-checks/factsheets/factsheet-how-much-does-hunting-contribute-african-economies
Now factor in the taxidermy costs, accommodation, the fact that 99% of foreign hunters in SA also go on photo safaris, the money from the meat of these animals, the leather industry, the food industry(game meat is expensive in fancy restaurants) and most important the game breeding industry which exists thanks to hunting and in terms of value is near a $1 billion....

Like I said earlier our hunting ban may be intentionally to keep prices high elsewhere. Many marginal areas also can't support any other industry-you know 90% of Kenya is ASAL.

Bro. It's true what rvp2018 is saying. On a grand scheme of things, atheist are generally smarter and more intelligence than an average religious man.

What you've said is also true.
Intelligence — in rationally solving problems — can be understood as involving overcoming instinct and being intellectually curious and thus open to non-instinctive possibilities they just want to explore their thinking as they view things in their own perspective. That will not dispute the fact that there is a superior being somewhere.. It's just a matter of time before they come to reality.

There is this genius psychologist in USA by the name Jordan Peterson. This guy used to be an atheist. He later came to his senses and realized that there is a superior being somewhere. The dude is now a bone again Christian - give rvp time grin

Oooh! My bad! shocked

But we have to agree that your rhino population was declining before poachers were banned - poaching is the bone of contention.

If your country legalizes poaching on big 5, we'll definitely forget about SA wildlife.
The population decrease by only 1% and has actually increased since rhino horn trade has been legalized

I am suprised they are killing that many rhinos - almost 10 percent - every year due to poaching. He is just happy to that "useless" animals have increased but critical animals are facing extinction.
the rhino population in SA decrease by 1% even when poaching was at its peak

You're the problem in SA. See why your government had to say about the declining rhino population.

The Kruger National Park in South Africa is where most of the country's rhino are being slaughtered. Authorities are battling to protect the species from poaching gangs.
As South Africa marked World Ranger Day on Saturday, the country's environmental authorities announced a setback in efforts to conserve the country's rhinos.
From January to the end of June 2021, 249 rhino have been poached for their horn in South Africa," said Barbara Creecy, the minister of environment, forestry and fisheries in a statement.

This figure is higher than the amount poached during the same period in 2020.

The country had been under a hard lockdown because of COVID-19 during much of that period. As lockdown restrictions have eased, authorities have seen an uptick in poaching activity.

South Africa's poaching problem
South Africa is battling to counter poaching syndicates who operate in the country's vast national parks. A large proportion of the slaughter took place in the Kruger National Park, where 132 rhinos were killed
.

On other hand, Kenya rhino population had increased by nearly 30% since 2017 - thanks for wildlife conservationists.

Lion population going by two countries are nearly the same. TZ is the real champ there.

Other big 5. The likes of elephants, buffaloes etc. You can bring the stats. cool
as for lions:

That's just the free roaming population, there are over 10000 lion on private land in South Africa

Did I mention our game population is growing at 20%p.a?

Unlike Nigeria (and I bet Ghana) at least kenya nearly every cattle is killed in abattoirs - and slaughter houses. What is missing is just gas chambers.

Kenya use to export beef to Europe and Middle east - but we dropped the ball. Now it's Botswana that does that.
