Odunayaw: There was a time staffers on the thread made much tears about the a109. I guess it turned out the a109 is not bad I was one of them as well.... However after speaking to an actual saaf a109 pilot I have somewhat changed my mind.... They ain't no Oryx... But to be fair no heli currently on the market can compete with the oryx anyway |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by jl115: 8:57pm On Apr 13, 2022 |
GreenandGold: It does not perform well under the African conditions, we lost about 10% of them on crashes and mind you our pilots are not bad. they are well regarded for there hot and high performance(not as well regarded as the oryx obviously) , none of the crashes where related to them not being able to cope with African conditions....I know at least 1 crash that was 100% pilot error, and there were teething problems at the start like the tail rotor which was fixed..... Also we can't expect the a109 to preform like the oryx in our conditions.... Out of all the tenders the a109 was the best option |

Most of these NGO's lack manpower and capacity to gather all those information hence they usually fall into the deceptions and half truths from these African governments' faked data. It looks like I need to teach u many stuff The World Bank, Mercer, CIA ect ect ect don't lack manpower and capacity |

Kazikazi: You can't say that in Africa where corruption and those games of cooking data are too much.Simply speaking,African stats are questionable hence we need photos and other physical evidence to support the stats. I remember one guy posted rankings about hunger index which shows his country was better than Tz in those faked ranking. But suprisingly, within few months, the same folks with better indices were dying of hunger while we Tz folks never experexperienced empty bellies. the rankings are done by NGOS not by African governments.... In other words your argument is 100% irrelevant |

Lurker4Long: UN helicopter crashes in DR Congo, killing eight peacekeepers aboard
Eight UN peacekeepers – six Pakistanis, a Russian and a Serb – were killed Tuesday when a Puma helicopter crashed in the troubled eastern Democratic republic of Congo, UN and Pakistani officials said.
“While undertaking a reconnaissance mission in Congo, 1 PUMA Helicopter crashed. Exact cause of crash is yet to be ascertained,” the Pakistani military’s media wing said.
It added that six Pakistani troops were among those killed.
The Democratic Republic of Congo army has explicitly accused Rwanda of supporting an armed rebellion in the east of the vast country, charges Kigali denied on Tuesday.
After months of suspicion and decades of mistrust between DR Congo and its neighbour Rwanda, a spokesperson for the North Kivu governor on Monday issued a statement saying the M23 “backed by the Rwanda Defence Force, (RDF) carried out incursions and attacked positions” of the army the previous night.

A mokopa atmg fired from a Rooivalk was guided to a target by a Gripen....... Tha type of interoperability is in credible!! |

Lurker4Long: Why Russian radios in Ukraine are getting spammed with heavy metal
Ukrainians are eavesdropping on the invaders and broadcasting on their frequencies
One of the many surprising failures of the Russian invasion force in Ukraine has been in radio communications. There have been stories of troops resorting to commercial walkie-talkies and Ukrainians intercepting their frequencies. This may not sound as serious as a lack of modern tanks or missiles, but it helps explain why Russian forces seem poorly co-ordinated, are falling victim to ambushes and have lost so many troops, reportedly including seven generals. What is going wrong with Russian radios?
Modern military-grade radios encrypt signals and change the frequency on which they operate many times a second, making their transmissions impossible to intercept. But many Russian forces are communicating on unencrypted high-frequency (HF) channels that allow anyone with a ham radio to eavesdrop. The Russian army does have some modern tech. It started receiving Azart radios, which have built-in encryption and can operate on much higher frequencies, in 2012. Thomas Withington, a military analyst specialising in electronic warfare, says that the Azart system seems adequate, if inferior to the equipment used by NATO forces. But there are not enough radios to go around. Russian news reports have talked enthusiastically about deliveries of a few hundred radios shipped to whole army groups comprising several thousand troops. By the most optimistic estimates only a fraction of the invasion force could have Azart radios.

Which FYI has the first tactical communications system in the world that provides a complete inter-operability between all elements of the battlefield (air force, army, navy, etc.) without using gateways or protocol converters. So good are our communication systems that a soldier from 4 Arty(I became friends with while I was still living in Potch) told me they can literally hit moving targets up to 50km with the G6 thanks to Link ZA and the Chaka C4 systems. |

Since we are on the topic of rallying...
Toyota Gazoo racing South Africa won its second dakar rally in January with Nasser Al Attiyah at the wheel.... Its also Nassers second win with the team (4th overall) , the first being in 2019....Team mate Giniel de Villiers was 5th....his 14th straight top 10 finish... He also has a record of 18/19 top 10 finishes in his Dakar career... With his single none top 10 finish being an 11th place in 2007 he also won the Dakar in 2009 and has placed on the podium on 8 occasions making him easily the most consistent driver on the Dakar

GreenandGold: Imagine putting them in a South African criminal syndicate scenario. Where;
- A syndicate has 7-20 fully armed criminals - Use armour piercing rounds - At times use RPGs - Setup multi-man ambushes for responding security forces - Drive-off the scene using speedy German sport vehicles - Setup secondary ambushes once they enter the townships
SWAT teams would be sloagheted. watched a couple of Swat challenges on YouTube...especially the hostage/team member rescue one.... Let's just say if you try that in real life you are losing hostages and team members |

kabe1: My thoughts so far from the war in Ukraine from an African perspective.
- UCAV and Autonomous Air Systems are the future of warfare. As we can see, but Ukraine and Russia have used UCAVs to devastating effects.
- African countries need to invest in man portable ATGMs, and far more emphasis should be put in training small squads instead of large brigade level exercises.
- APCs are overated, apart from small arms fire, they provide as much protection level as a Toyota Hilux.
- Tracked Vehicles are more important than wheeled vehicles.
- African countries need to invest in Standoff munitions.
While the Ukrainians are defending themselves admirably, they are no match for the Russian military.
While the Russian military has paid on heavy price on the loss of equipment, they have continued to make significant advances on multiple fronts, more especially in the south of Ukraine. I would suggest you go study some points again my bru ....i agree with most but certainly not the bolded which is terrain and doctrine dependent.... |
