Having a valid 10-year visitor visa to Canada doesn't automatically impact your ability to apply for a study permit. However, it's crucial to understand that a visitor visa allows you to enter Canada for temporary visits as a tourist, family visitor, or business purposes. You can apply for a study permit whether you are inside or outside of Canada. If you are currently in Canada as a visitor, you may apply for a study permit from within the country. Alternatively, you can apply from your home country. More importantly, ensure that you meet all the eligibility requirements for a study permit. Both schools are good, but you need to weigh your options in terms of the tuition fee and the program they offer in your area of interest.

It's essential to address this oversight in any future applications. Providing a clear and comprehensive explanation for significant financial transactions is crucial to the visa application process. Clearly state the source of these funds, the purpose of the payments, and how they relate to your ability to cover your study and living expenses in the host country.
emmmillenium:
Dear Great people,

I need advice

I applied for Study Permit last year June and I was denied. Reason: Unexplained funds

Here is my story, I have a friend abroad who was building a house in Nigeria. He wanted to send money for the building and I volunteered to settle the contractor and vendors from my naira acct while my friend refunded me with dollar equivalent. He agreed to use official rate during buhari time (435/$) just because of friendship. I funded the building project with naira btw 2021 to 2002 but I forgot to put any narration that may reflect I actually borrowed someone.

Secondly, I sent the money to different acct of people working on the house (like bricklayer, carpenter etc) and not to my friend acct as he doesn't have nigerian acct.

Thirdly, I didn't save d transaction receipt as I didn't know I will need to explain anything when I apply for canada study permit.

My friend refunded me back in dollars last year 2023 by sending 5k usd every month through sendwave.

I didn't explain the 5k usd monthly payment in my dollar acct when I applied for study permit last year and I was refused.

I want to reapply but I don't know how I can explain this convincing. I have the pix of the house at each level of development, the sendwave transaction detail that shows the money comes from my friend, the house document but I can not find evidence that I borrowed him money as they was no written agreement that stated how much I borrowed him for the building project.

Expert pls, kindly help me with the best way I can explain this situation convincingly

It's generally a good practice to provide complete and unaltered statements within the specified timeframe. All you need to do is compress it You can try to subscribe to the premium page to enable compression of the document after getting what you want remove your card details or and download it online

My sponsor statement of account is 21 pages, is it advisable I remove some pages?

If your daughter is already an adult and wants to attend college, then you have to make a different application for her; applying as your dependent might be an issue with your application. The application process for her would generally be distinct from applying as a dependent. Dependents typically refer to spouses or dependent children, and age restrictions may apply.
danowena:
Good day all Gurus in the house.

I have the proof of funds to cover my self and 5 other family members for two years.

However, except for my eldest daughter, all my family are in the US. And I was recently denied a U.S. visa because of this.
My dilemma is if I should apply for a study permit for my eldest daughter simultaneously as I am applying for my own or I should wait till mine is approved and then apply for her. I do not want to leave her behind.
If I am to apply alone and fill that I am not going with her (home ties), when can I apply for her?
My resumption is Sept 2024 and I plan to apply in March.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Dependent relationships are generally limited to spouses and dependent children. Therefore, your sister does not meet the requirements to be considered dependent on your wife's application. Suppose you have no immediate plans to travel and are considering an alternative to the Spouse or Common-Law Partner Open Work Permit (SOWP). In that case, you may explore other visa categories or permits that align with your current situation and plans, such as VV.
sammieyo:
Hello house,

Want someone to enlighten me on this plss.

I applied for my wife and the LOA is out, though i personal dont have intention of going now, so can i apply for my younger sister as dependant to my wife.

Yes, waiting 2 to 3 weeks before applying can help mitigate concerns about the deposit being perceived as for demonstration purposes.

If your uncle is supporting your education and will be depositing money into your account, you should provide a complete package of documentation attesting to your ability to pay and the validity of the sponsorship.
List of supported documents
1. Sponsorship Letter: A formal letter from your uncle explicitly stating his willingness to sponsor your education, including the specific amount of financial support he is providing.
2. Proof of Relationship: Documents proving the familial relationship between you and your uncle, such as birth certificates or other legal documents
3. Proof of Tuition Payment: Receipts or confirmation of payment for the tuition fees for the entire program or the current semester. (if applicable)
4. Bank Statements (Yours and Your Uncle's)
5. Affidavit of Support
6. Income Proof for Your Uncle
7. Transfer Confirmation: Evidence of the fund transfer from your uncle to your account, including transaction receipts or wire transfer confirmation.

I hope this helps!!!

It's typically advisable to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover the entire duration of your program. This helps establish that you can financially support yourself during your studies without becoming a burden on the host country's social assistance programs.
I hope the co-sponsor is accompanying the applicant. If a co-sponsor is used and that co-sponsor is not accompanying the primary applicant and dependent, it might raise questions during the visa application process. Visa officers typically want to see a clear and direct relationship between the sponsor and the individuals for whom they are providing financial support. If the co-sponsor is not traveling with the family or dependents, the authorities may seek additional clarification on the nature of the sponsorship and the reasons for it.
Daveconsult007:
When a primary applicant is going for 2 year program, during my application submission does he need to show proof of funds covering the entire two years living expenses or just for the first one year.

I have followed through on your thread It seems the agent may have used a fake Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for the visa application; it is a Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL). This can result in a five-year ban. My advice for you is to try to get access to your IRCC portal for an update; they must have responded, but since you don't have access to your portal, the agent ghosted you. Alternatively, order your GCMS note.

How to link your IRCC portal

1. Follow the steps to sign into your online account or create a new one.
2. In your account, under “View the applications you submitted," click on “Add (link) your application to your account to check your status”.
3. Enter the information exactly as you did on your original application. If you made updates after you applied, enter the most recent information.

opebajo11:
Thanks for the feedback. I have been so down since since I noticed the game the agent has Ben playing, just like my face was covered. I decided to verify the acceptance letter that he sent me and I was shocked, the response I got from school which I have attached below.

The issue now is that I don’t even have an idea the information he used for visa application, that is if he even applied, but I went for biometrics.

I do not know what to do if to go ahead and start all over again. Please help

Your chance of getting admission to Holland College is still open. If you meet the minimum requirement, you can still proceed with the application. Meeting the minimum requirements typically means that you possess the necessary qualifications and credentials to be considered for admission to the college.
Btycoon:
Please, house I need your help, I applied to 3 schools and I'm planning to apply to the 4th one for falls intake but out of the schools I received update from CIMT but I'm not going there bc of the PGWP they don't have and the next school which is Holland sent me an update with student number but no admission yet.

My questions are:

Is there hope that Holland would give me admission since they have sent me student number or I should proceed by applying to 4th school bc I don't want to miss falls intake for 2024.

I dont see people here talking about Holland, does it mean Holland isn't good enough or any issues I need to know please experts help me.

Visa officers typically evaluate each application on its own merits, considering factors such as the purpose of the visit, ties to the home country, financial stability, and other relevant details.
For study permits, the primary applicant (the person intending to study) must meet the eligibility criteria, including acceptance to a designated learning institution, proving financial capacity, and demonstrating ties to their home country.
For SOWP, the spouse or common-law partner may be eligible to work in Canada while the other person studies, but again, the work permit application is evaluated based on individual eligibility, including proof of the relationship, the student's enrollment, and other requirements.
It should be the family's decision!
I hope this helps.

Hello House!

Wife just got an admission for September, 2024. The husband will be applying for SOWP. Can they both apply now? Won't it be too early to apply for thier visas?

Also, it is advisable for them to apply together or for the wife to apply first?

If the wife decides to apply first and she gets her study visa approved, can the husband apply for SOWP immediately while the wife is still in Nigeria?

Thank you.

NEW UPDATE FROM IRCC

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by JMG12: 3:34pm On Dec 07, 2023
Yes, it can be in the form of a fixed deposit, but you must convince the visa officer that the money will be liquidated before the commencement of your program. I will recommend you use a savings account and a fixed deposit as a backup.
Using a savings account as the primary source of funds provides the advantage of liquidity, which means the funds are easily accessible. This aligns well with the expectation that you can cover your tuition fees, living expenses, and other associated costs promptly. A fixed deposit can serve as a supplementary or backup source, offering additional assurance to the visa officer. However, it's crucial to emphasize, as mentioned, that you have a clear plan for liquidating the fixed deposit before the commencement of your program. This can be addressed in your Statement of Purpose (SOP) or letter of explanation.
Manlikethomas:
Hello house good morning, I will like to ask a question, can the money meant for proof of funds be in form of fixed deposit?

Certainly, when applying for a spouse or common-law partner open work permit (SOWP), it's important to provide a comprehensive set of documents that demonstrate financial independence, strong ties to the home country, and assets.
List of documents:
1. Financial Documents: Bank Statements, Proof of Income (If the spouse is employed, provide employment verification, pay stubs, and an employment letter), Affidavit of Support
2. Home Ties and Assets Documents: property ownership (if applicable, provide documents or do a gift deed); lease/rental agreements (if applicable, provide documents or do power of attorney); family ties; employment ties.

Emphasizing the date you will get access to the funds in your Statement of Purpose (SOP) or letter of explanation is a crucial aspect of your study visa application. This helps provide clarity to the visa officer regarding the timeline for accessing the funds and supports the credibility of your financial plan.

Some documents
1. Investment certificate: The below might be covered in the investment certificate.
2. Liquid Assets: Emphasize that the funds are liquid and readily available.
3. Timing of Investments: Provide evidence that demonstrates the timing of the investment and how it aligns with the start of your program.
Becoted001:
Thanks so much,

What are the documents I might need from the company, different from the investment certificate, to back up the investment?

When you are currently employed and planning to pursue studies, obtaining a study leave letter from your employer is highly advisable. This letter serves as official documentation indicating that your employer is aware of and supportive of your decision to take leave to study. I strongly recommend against applying for your studies without obtaining a study leave letter from your current employer. It also demonstrates your home tie, proof that you will not abscond. There is a way to go about that if you don't want to inform your office
emmyoddy:
Well done guys for your tireless effort.

I'm a civil servant who got admission against Fall 2024 for a year program.
The Truth is that I don't want to apply for study leave because my job doesn't require going to the office much except during our work season which is like every 3 years. Meaning it's possible to stay in a year and visit office twice or thrice.
So I can run the school conveniently without any impact on my job.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by JMG12: 11:40am On Dec 06, 2023
For every investment or amount of money you want to display for your study visa application, the visa officer wants to see that you have full access to the funds. So when presenting your financial details, it's crucial to convince the visa officer that you will have full access to the funds and that they will be available to you before the commencement of your program. This ensures that you can cover your tuition fees, living expenses, and any other associated costs.
Becoted001:
I made an investment with a real estate company that will mature within days before the program commences in Canada. Can I use the investment certificate, which covers all the tuition fee balance and living expenses, from the company and includes other personal assets, gift deeds, and the available cash balance of N2.4 million as proof of financials for my visa application?

Please i need your advice.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by JMG12: 11:34am On Dec 06, 2023
It's important to be mindful of the timing of your visa application, especially considering your recent marriage. Even though your marriage is genuine, applying one week after your court wedding might unintentionally raise questions about its authenticity. To avoid any potential misinterpretation, consider giving it some time before applying or applying alone first. Once your study permit is approved, you can then proceed to apply for your spouse. While there is no guarantee that waiting will impact your study visa approval, taking this approach may help present your case in a way that avoids unnecessary scrutiny.
Sam2305:
Hello All,

1)For couple that got married last week Saturday (court wedding) can they apply for Study permit and SOWP today or this week.

2)If the husband decides to apply first and gets his visa, can he apply for the wife SOWP immediately after getting his visa even when he is still in Nigeria.

After a visa rejection, you may usually utilize the same GCKey account. Applying for immigration is one of the many secure government services you may access with your GCKey account. In most cases, a prior visa denial has no bearing on your ability to utilize the same GCKey account for a subsequent application.

Regarding the statement ending in October for an application in December, it's crucial to provide up-to-date and relevant financial documentation. If your financial statement ends in October, you might need to provide additional documentation or an updated statement that reflects your current financial situation closer to the time of your application in December. They often require recent and accurate financial information to assess your ability to cover expenses during your stay.

This could mean that you did not make it apparent in your information that you intended to temporarily study in Canada.
Some ways to improve your reapplication:
1. Examine your application again: Examine the details you submitted in your original application with great care. Verify that every detail is true and in line with the objectives of the temporary research permission.
2. A legitimate letter of admission from a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI) should be included. This should include a clear description of your study course's curriculum, duration, and start and finish dates.
3. Proof of financial support: Demonstrate that you have the money necessary to pay for your living expenses, tuition, and any other charges you may incur while visiting Canada.
4. Home ties: Showing that you have close links to your home country can help your application stand out. Proof of family, property, or work may be included in this. This might support your claim to the immigration officer that you plan to finish your education and then return home.

When applying for a Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP), it's essential to emphasize your commitment to supporting your spouse in various aspects, including moral and emotional support, rather than focusing solely on employment intentions. Additionally, if you have experienced a previous visa refusal, it's crucial to address this concern in your application. From the correspondence shared, you can address this visa officer's concern since you want to apply immediately or order and wait for your GCMS note.

For a gift deed of cash, it's generally true that you may not attach the donor's account statement or disclose the source of income. However, proving the relationship between the donor and the receiver is often a crucial aspect of the documentation. This helps establish the legitimacy of the gift and ensures transparency in the transaction.
These documents could include:
1. Gift Deed
2. Affidavit of Relationship
3. Photographs with the donor

If you can pay $18,000 CAD out of the total $23,500 CAD required, it would be prudent to complete the full payment. This leaves you with sufficient funds to cover living expenses and other miscellaneous fees. Completing the full payment upfront not only demonstrates financial responsibility but also ensures that you have allocated funds for all aspects of your stay. This approach can enhance the credibility of your financial standing and strengthen your overall application.
