Hi everyone!

Is there a group for Nigerians in Toronto? Can someone please add me? I intend to move in September and I'm looking for all the help I can get. Thanks.

Congratulations. May Canada favour you. Please did you submit only T-bills certificate for pof?

No need to rewrite

IELTS gets locked in at AOR so as long as you submit before the expiration date, you should be safe.

See below from CIC website

"How long language test results are valid for
Your test results must be less than two years old when you submit your application for permanent residence.

If you’ve been invited to apply for permanent residence
Check that your language test results will still be valid when you plan to apply.

If you haven’t been invited to apply for permanent residence
You may want to make sure your results are valid for the rest of the time you’ll be in the pool.

If your results will expire before you can apply, you should:

be tested again or
apply before your test results expire or
decline the invitation and go back into the pool to be considered in the future

If you apply for permanent residence with language test results that have expired, we’ll refuse your application."

Oluwolefola:
Good afternoon all,

I need your wealth of experience and advise on my current situation.

I have been working on my application for a while however I was trying to save up some funds for POF. Fund is available now and we have completed the application yesterday. The score is 467 but my spouse's ielts result is due to expire on the 19th of August. Based on the current trend I expect we will receive ITA by the next draw due to the CRS score. Should we proceed to apply with the almost expired ielts or we should decline when it comes and wait until she re writes the exam.

Most documents are available and we can ensure we submit on the same day ITA received. Which should be around the 7th of August

Kindly advise

Here's my timeline guys

IELTS – September 29, 2018

ECA- January 22, 2019

CRS – 481

ITA- January 23

AOR – February 8 2019

MEP/BIL - March 25 2019

S
I
L
E
N
C
E

I called several times and I kept getting the same response, criminality passed, eligibility and security not started.

Ghost update 1 – July 13

ADR – July 15 (Schedule A)

Ghost update 2 – July 20

PPR – July 22 (exactly 6 months from ITA)

VO - Ottawa

IELTS – 9, 9, 8, 7.5 (LRSW)

I wrote this once and maxed out and I am so grateful because I only started preparing for it 2 days before the exam. As there was no time, I only used the road to IELTS that British Council provided to study for listening and reading, in fact, the first practice section I worked on I got only 50%! Anyways, I studied my mistakes (one word where they asked for three, spelling inconsistencies, etc) and worked on fixing them and by the second day when I did the exam samples I had 38 & 39 over 40.

For writing I did not practice at all because by the time I got to it, it was 12:01 am on the day of the exam. I watched about 5 videos but 3 were especially helpful. Two liz videos where she talks about writing the first paragraph and writing the last paragraph of task 2 essays – I followed her advice to the T. Also, there’s one jay Video where he talks about writing the body paragraphs and how to separate your points – I followed his advice too.

In addition to the videos for writing, I spent about one-hour reading level 9 essays just to see what excellence looked like and I modeled my essay after the samples I read.

Please, I’ll personally advice that if you can please practice writing, I didn’t and on the exam day I almost cried. I started with task one, took 40 mins to finish it and had only 20 mins to rush through task 2 – I barely finished and did not proofread it. If I had practiced at all, I’d have known my strengths and weaknesses and worked to fix them, don’t be like me.

Also, there’s one blogpost I read somewhere about having 5 paragraphs for task one – Introduction, question 1, question 2, question 3, and closing paragraph – that's how I modeled my letter.

I went to bed by 3am and woke up by 6 am to get to my center; abeg, don’t be like me.

ECA- WES

It seems like all the problems I missed in IELTS were waiting for me here – Unilag connived with WES to show me pepper, but my God is greater them. This took 6 months!! I also evaluated my first degree from OAU using etx.ng and surprisingly, they came through after about 5 weeks. Imagine a story where the etx.ng guys are the good guys.

Medicals- IOM- 04/02/2019

Took the entire day, I was there from 9am until 4pm – stressed me out.

PCC - 5k

I used inspector Moshood, and the whole thing took about one hour

POF

Originally uploaded my Tbills investment certificate. It matured in March, so I converted it to USD, put in my dom account and sent them a letter from the bank showing my balance.

Passport

Studio 24 Allen

The Wait

Mannn, this was something else. I caved in and ordered GCMS notes on June 18 and it was delivered July 18 but by then I had already gotten a ghost update and an ADR so I didn’t really care. I also used the wait time to write my CBAP exam so all in all, I don’t count it as time wasted

I want to end this by saying a VERY BIG THANK YOU to everyone on this thread, everything I used to put my application together I learnt from here and crosschecked on the CIC website. May the good Lord meet each and every one of you at your different points of need; hold on to Him tightly – He neither sleeps nor slumbers, and he is never late.

My MBA from Unilag was evaluated by WES as equal to a masters degree

Please, can I pm you?

My brother is planning to take this route and he has the same exemptions (f1 - f6), I'd like to know if he does only f7 - f9, it'll still be evaluated favorably

Thanks

hayoakins:

ACCA affiliate or membership will be evaluated as 4years bachelors degree (as per my evaluation report) while F1-F9 (Advance Diploma) is evaluated as 3years Bachelors degree (as seen on Canadavisa forum).

Cheers.

It should actually be close to 40k

When I did my matriculation in OAU, we were 5k+ getting matriculated. Multiply that by 4, add extra years, 5-year students, 6-year students, masters and Ph.D. students, diploma students etc. And Benin is a bigger city than Ife so it'll probably have more students.

Bracha:
Ahn Ahn! 40 gini? Maka why na? School not stadium o. It'd be between 4k-6k students.

Sorry about your remark and as for WES, you may need to call them. It takes them about 3-5 days to acknowledge verification, if they've not acknowledged it by now, it means they did not receive it and your school will have to send your verification again.

jazzy:
Congrats Ifeoma,

I was sooooo happy when i saw your announcement this morning.. May your journey to canny be smooth and easy and i pray that favor will always surround you.

In other news, i got my remark today... sadly scores remained unchanged LRSW- 8.5, 8.5, 8, 6.5. Hoping to either write the computer based on the 2nd of April or the Paper on the 6th. Till then we match on. Another thing that is bothering is the slowness of WES. It is almost a month my school responded to the verification and i m yet to get past "We received your document(s). We are reviewing your document(s)". i m hopeful that by the time my IELTS result comes back on the 19th of April (if Paper), they should have been done.

Well done guys and enjoy the weekend. XOXO
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 7 by jmnsimone(f): 9:56am On Mar 08, 2019
They won't send it to your school until they get your certificate. So you're just about to enter the verification stage, after which they'll start the real processing - that's when you start counting 20 days.

What you should do now is to get your school contact on standby for the email, if you're lucky and everything goes smoothly, in 5-6 weeks your ECA will be ready.

amoskitto:
I just sent my degree certificate to WES via fax using Hellofax after receiving a notification from them yesterday. My concern is that it took WES over a month (about 40 days after receiving my transcript) to notify me that they require my degree certificate. All along, the status of my evaluation had been "Evaluation in progress; you do not need to do anything at this time". So now I'm wondering if the 20 days are already counting. Also, I have still not received any message from WES that they sent my transcript to my University in Nigeria for verification. Do they skip that process sometimes?

Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 7 by jmnsimone(f): 8:49am On Mar 07, 2019
Same thing happened to me - send them a strongly worded email asking why they're canceling an exam you already paid for. They'll reconfirm your date and send you a receipt. These people are still stuck in the 1980s and almost everything has to be manually confirmed.

FaskRolce:
I need help please.
I registered for ielts on Wednesday and made payment (by transfer) on Thursday 1st March. I sent my evidence of payment to the email provided and up til now I haven't gotten a confirmation mail. Yesterday, I was sent a mail that if I don't make payment within 24hours,my registration would be cancelled so I called their center today and gave the lady my details and she said she will forward to the appropriate channel.I also sent a reminder mail to the payment email provided. At the 24th hour I received a mail that my registration has been cancelled. What do I do please? I intend to write on the 23rd of this month? Do I re_register? Will the payment be linked to my new reference number? Who has experienced this before?please O, I'm becoming unsettled.

US citizens do not have the right to live/reside in Canada without a visa, they can only visit and stay for a maximum of 6 months at a stretch. Please note that during this time, the kids may not be able to go to school or access free health care and other government benefits.

If your friend's plan is for her kids to visit from time to time then they don't need to be added to her application but if she's planning to move with them, they'll need visas

majjj:

thank you for your response. The kids are American Citizens, not USA visa holders. Does that make it better?

No, it's not. You can create a profile and not be in the pool (useless but possible). It's only when you submit the profile that you get in the pool.

I know that this isn't directed at me but thank you so much for sharing. Can I also PM you for the study material?

WoodcrestMayor:
It's about having a plan and sticking to it. The exam will set you back a few dollars and you can only write in Canada. I can send you the soft copy I used(main study material though. When you come in and register,
you will be given the same material and you can add study packs at a few extra dollars. I heard of someone who started with CIBC as an advisor and now works for the government of Alberta as a BA earning 6 figures. If you want to go the BA route, you have to put in the required shift. I bought a Udemy course and will start as soon as I get comfortable at work.

There's a chat icon on their website, use it to chat them up and they'll give you an update. You can also send emails and they'll reply. But please note that their service is quite slow, it took them 5 weeks to get my transcript ready. Same OAU

Saintee2009:
Congrats to all PPR clinchers. You guys don't know how your stories serves as motivation for prospective runaways like myself... I always make sure I read this thread daily to keep myself abreast of happenings around.

Please how can I track my transcript order from ETX-Ng in OAU? Payment already confirmed by them 3 days ago.

OK I understand now, yes you're making the right move - goodluck!

bigwizzy001:

Thanks so plentiful for the good heart. Seems you've not gotten my epistle right. The scores for single (440 & 452) that I posted up there are my stance after I complete PGD at Noun which I intend to start this year. I have only Bsc now and when I calculated with that alone, I had 413. That's why I resolved to starting PGD asap to land any of the aforestated scores. Hope I'm about making the right move ?
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by jmnsimone(f): 12:51pm On Jan 07, 2019
I've looked through your profile and it says you're not married yet, why not apply as "single" and then add your fiance post AOR? it's better than learning French or doing masters. Plus, 443 is not a bad score at all so if you're already married or have set a close date then enter the pool with it first before looking for other ways to boost your profile - you never know, you may get ITA with that score (all things being equal, you actually stand a good chance).

Before going for the bigger options, its better to explore and exhaust the smaller, easier ones.

bigwizzy001:

Thanks.

440 if I use single with 8777
452 if I use single with relatively higher IELTS score.

With marriage profile;

443 if both of us will write IELTS.

Any hope or make i kuku go for masters ?

Apologies then, and great to see that you called him, because this has happened to me before - not once or twice, and they were not 5-year-olds. Tired of seeing people take advantage of Whatsapp to behave anyhow.

Barryston:
Hahaha you really think I didn't call him and introduce myself??You must think I'm a 5year old that doesn't know what is right....I got his no from someone here who he has helped to ace writing...mind you,he was hotcake then because he got one of the best results in writing...How on earth would I just send a message to someone and asked him to help me in writing

Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 6 by jmnsimone(f): 6:33pm On Jan 06, 2019
Sorry to butt in but this is such a terrible take, and if I were him I'd ignore you too. You "got" his number meaning he didn't give it to you and doesn't know you but instead of calling and introducing yourself, then asking for the favor you needed you sent WhatsApp messages.

Can you imagine a stranger sending you Whatsapp messages asking for a favor e.g money? (extreme example but same difference)

I'm going to assume that every one of us on this journey is reasonably mature and we understand the basic etiquettes of communication, so why do we throw it out when we log on here?

I think all of us need to realize that every answer we see or get here comes from the benevolence of the heart of the sharer no one owes us anything. Once we recognize this, maybe we'll be kinder to each other, and more grateful for the abundance of information available on these threads

Anyways congratulations on acing IELTS, I hope the rest of your PR journey is smooth and uneventful.

Barryston:
Yeyeyeye....it's so easy to talk about helping each other now when you have gotten your PR...whereas sometimes in June last year when I was having problem with my ielts writing I got your no and sent you a message on whatsapp...kept reading it without replying till date...I've passed ielts oo I just feel this your long epistle(although very right) was totally different from what you are preaching...I wish you the very best in Canada.

PS...I just feel I should let it out...no offence taken!
