Spy360: No.
When he took of Tierney, he asked them to switch, they did for a while and returned to their initial positions after an attacking spell. He then asked them the second time to switch (that was when I saw his assistant shouting) which they did. Later on when he brought on Tomi, they returned to their original positions. These events took less than 15mins I think. I wish I saw this but honestly I didn't. I was even angry when I saw they switched and was relieved to see them mann their natural positions again before the winning goal. Anyways, we go see whether such thing will repeat itself next time again. We await!! |

Spy360: Since he didn't mention you, it's guilty conscience bro. Or are you the spokesman for the thread?
By the way the argument was about DM or CM. We don't play a DM or CDM or whatever alphabet you add to the DM. What we play is a CM. We play a CM and two AMs or double 8s. Though one may rightly say that Xhaka is a kind of hybrid of CM and AM. The position of Partey (or Lokonga now) is that of CM.
The difference is that, a DM is a player who is only focused on shielding the defense. An example is Ndidi.
An AM is focused on creating chances eg Odegaard.
The CM is one that does both. But in this case his job is to retain ball possession. Which he does by making himself available to all the players around him. He MUST be a good passer whether short or long. Eg Elneny, Lokonga
Now some players can be so good that they give you everything you need. They will shield the defense, retain possession and also create chances with defense breaking passes. Eg Partey. That is why Partey is so loved. But some will mistaken him as a DM whereas he is far more than that.
The fact even is that Arteta's tactics does not use a DM by default. He shields his defense using zonal structure where his fullbacks becomes inverted. I have explained this things several times but some of you with pride will not accept. Lol, let us don't go this place Just agree that Partey plays CM for us while the rest of us agrees that Partey plays DM. At least if you bring CM concerning Partey, we won't argue likewise us cos we understand wetin we deh talk aside the nomenclature ascribed which I believe is the main thing At least, that will bring sanity to this thread instead of endless debate over basic name stuff |

Spy360: I am a kind of fan that is crazy about tactics and formations and so I am very keen on those. I saw Arteta and his assistant shouting at Martinelli and Saka to get the f* back to their wingback positions when they switched the second time. They were only allowed back to their preferred wings when Tomi came up. That second switch was not from Arteta so he asked them to follow instructions. Are you saying both Martinelli and Saka disobeyed Arteta cos they still didn't switch and maintained their natural wing till the end of the match |

We use wing They'll use middle
Make they sha no do introduction for Casemiro the way they did for Nunez o I have a gut feeling that Casemiro will start. ESR, Sambi and Xhaka is too lightweight especially defensively. We need Odegaard and Ramsdale oo |

Spy360: I commend your good observation but you didn't capture the reason for the switch. It was tactical and it worked. Arteta switched to a back 3 and used Martinelli and Saka as wingbacks so they switched positions. After we scored Tomi was introduced and we switched back to 4 defenders, and the wingers went back to their original positions. Nah, try to rewatch the match again, they still shifted to their original positions before the second goal. During the switch, there was a time Martinelli cut inside and took a shot with his left foot which didn't carry enough power and accuracy. Immediately after that, they were switched back to their original position. . If you remember vividly towards the end of the game (before the 2nd goal), Martinelli played a good curling ball, but Palhinha used his head to deflect it out wide for a corner. Where Martinelli played that ball was from the right. And yeah, we switched to a back 3 with Saka and Martinelli playing wingbacks then later to a back 4 when Tomi was introduced. Arteta is really learning in his tactics |

daveP: I think based on how that Tierney injury discovery went in AON, i suspect the theme has been on caution rather than emergence ever since. No risks taken tinz.
Meaning Holding will play as a sub definitely. Na that Saka now i dey fear. If they plan for our guy and they succeed, half our game will be on life support mode from fans angle.
They got weak spots anyways. Especially conceding. Hmmmm... If na caution no problems sha but the length of these injuries are troubling. God knows I'm afraid if anything happens to Saka sha. I mean, no real threat at that wing. I remember against Fulham when Martinelli and Saka switched wing when we were looking for the winning goal. Omo, both Martinelli and Saka wasn't at their explosive best cos they couldn't beat their man effectively and weren't even a goal threat. Arteta have to change them back to their original wings before they could be very effective again. It makes me wonder, how will our right wing be if unfortunately something happens to Saka. We just need to be proactive against Man u as you said, but we must watch our back |

daveP: Based on how ETH spoke, it seems he wants to win this game late, and from the bench.
I know our best 11 may need start but this is tactical approach and hence we need be proactive, not naive. Will love to see how Saliba fares vs Bruno.
I expect a pk as usual Probably a red too Goal-goal Goal under 30mins.
I believe Yasu will come around though. Omo, this your bolded no be here ooo. Na fight the two teams wan go fight? If ETH wants to leave it late in the game for them to win by introducing subs, then that's really bold of him. I mean, this is arsenal that tries to score early. Well let's see how it goes. We don't have much squad depth laidat again, but I hope Eth continues with the winning team that started the last 3 matches |

neztar: a liverpool side plagued by injuries and the loss of mane Lol, the Liverpool plaqued with injury and the loss of Mane won Newcastle that drew Man city. In fact, Fulham won both brighton and Brentford, two teams that won Man u with the latter making Ten Haag to change tactics because of the humiliating scores they dished man u. But here you are denigrating Fulham and Crystal palace as if dem be walkover teams just because Arsenal won them. Issorait sir!!!! |

mostob: I don't know why I'm not worried though. Maybe because of Lokonga.
ESR playing the #10 role will even boost our chance of scoring especially as Jesus likes to roam.
I think the best tactic is to force them to the wing. Saka vs Malaysia and Martinelli vs Dalot Na my big fear be that. I believe ESR in that 10 role too, at least he have an understanding with Saka, but will he be intelligent enough to help out Sambi too as Odegaard did? Another person na Turner I dey fear. Omo, if Ramsdale and Odegaard makes it'll my confidence will increase. Saka Vs Malacia... Omo, Saka get work be that oo. Hopefully Tomi starts so that they'll try and overload him. Martinelli Vs Dalot... If Martinelli brings his A game, it'll be a good battle All in all, I feel Man u will try to limit the space we would like to work on and hit us on the counter. If Casemiro starts, na big problem be that cos he can transition attack quickly as well as kill off opposition attack. As for my defence, I trust them. Na make Ramsdale just deh fit biko!! |
