He’s got his fair mention here, but now we can make a direct comparison
komekn:
He has been playing consistently in the Segunda División for a few seasons. But nobody has mentioned his name.

However, Nwakali that has not played professional football for close to two seasons is a SE prospect after 8 minutes as a substitute in the Segunda División

Is that not super delusional misguided favoritism. Or what else can you call it apart from naked bigoted double standard.

It is funny that even Joebie talks ignorantly. He talks like we haven't given Igbekeme several mentions here. The things I read here ehn... Hahahahahaha. I can see some people here have short term memory.

People just love the boy because of his U17 WC exploits. He is seen as if he still has the potential for greater things. Today, Igbekeme deserves a mention ahead of Kelechi Nwakili, until the latter starts to pull better stats in the same league.

komekn:
The quality of a league is also reflected in the money it can generate to attract players. Essentially good quality players follow indisputably the £££€€€.

How much was spent on transfers in the entire Segunda División this season and look at how much just Fulham spent on transfers.

When you have had a look then we can talk.

This is a players that his entire justification for ability is based on youth football of 5 years ago.

He went to the Eredivisie flopped got demoted to the second tier Eerste Divisie flopped again then ended up in Porto B playing youth football and shockingly was not even a regular.

He has gone to Huesca the Segunda División and is not a regular. Comes on for as a substitute in the 82nd minutes.

And he is being talked about as a prospect for the SE, that is unbridled delusional misguided favoritism.

Can someone remind us of the last time and year Kelechi Nwakali played a game of first team professional football.huh

If l started talking about a player in English league one, who played 8 minutes of football in his first competitive game of professional football for over a year. The majority of people would be screaming expletives against me and saying l am nakedly blatantly biased.

You have quite a few players on loan from higher level clubs including Wolves. These are players that can't get a loan move in the Championship and not too many clubs interested even in League one.

Rohr throws Eagles camp open to NPFL players
By Alex Monye
19 June 2020 | 4:15 am

If you are a home-based player and you believe you have the qualities needed to play for Nigeria, you now have the chance to convince the coaches with your skills. This is because Super Eagles’ Chief Coach, Gernot Rohr, has challenged players in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) to be ready for the assessment, which will begin as soon as club football returns in the country.

Home-based Nigerian players have been clamouring for inclusion in the senior national team, which in recent times has been the exclusive preserve of players playing outside the country. The change began with the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) insistence that Rohr must go round the local venues to scout for qualified players for his team before he got a new deal.

Yesterday in Lagos, Rohr, who spoke through Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, challenged the NPFL players to up their game and prove they are as good as their overseas-based counterparts, saying he would move round the venues to pick the very best among them.

Ibitoye said the NFF and other stakeholders have made arrangements for adequate security for the German and his crew when they start touring match venues on scouting mission.

He added that although Rohr had in the past watched some games in the country, the new mission would ensure that he sees as many players as possible across the country.

“The players should get ready because Rohr will be at the NPFL league venues to assess them. There are no security fears as everything would be put in place to ensure he does his job in secured environments.”

On the clamour in some quarters for Odion Ighalo’s return to the Super Eagles, Ibitoye said the issue would be evaluated at the right time, adding that the coaches would do the best in the interest of Nigeria.

It's too premature to say it is an improvement or otherwise. An improvement from what to what?

Philosopher1979:
At least it is an improvement. Better than not even being on the bench.
Secondly let us wait till january at least he would have played a lot of games to judge him.
But at least he is better than 6 months ago

Thirdly the spanish second division is underrated and a good league with good players. A borusia dortmund teenager is in huesca. I dont agree that the 2nd division of england is so much better.
You beleive too much in english football.
Villareal was once in the second division.

I'm beginning to think the reason why some Nigerians are retiring their players prematurely in their head is because they think those players are using football ages.

True, much is expected of Werner. Didn't Auba hit the ground running in the EPL?

chrisooblog:
you are right the bundesliga is not the same as the EPL. The level of the German league is much higher. This season in the Champions league German teams have battered English teams from pillar to post.

you can not compare Batshuayi's short stint to Werner who has been consistently prolific for the past 4 seasons. Batshuayi that has only had one prolific season in 5 years? please stop taking the piss komekn.

ok then.. let's wait and see.

safarigirl:
I beg to differ.

Anyway, there are a lot of people commenting, and since the majority Senegales speak French, you can only make deductions from the posts of those who speak English.

Until there is something solid on ground, not just news articles, there is really no Akon City.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie:
Yes affordability is the issue. Creating enough jobs is yet another challenge. Solving the power problem does not necessarily address that to the full extent. But it all begins with ensuring there is uninterrupted power supply available to many. With competition the prices can go down eventually.

Power is not necessarily cheap here in the States. But there are lots of jobs relatively speaking. Hence, it is affordable.

Modified
Just realized you are speaking about Akon City itself. If you do further research you will realize there can be some positives in a project like this. Think of it like something that can open doors to other business possibilities not necessarily in the real estate category.

safarigirl:
It won't be a freebie.

It will probably go for a ridiculous amount that a sizeable part of the population won't be able to afford, then the wealthy will acquire, and rent to the middle class, so, nothing really changes and no one was really helped.

Still a reuse

No 2 or 3 people cannot, in the context that you wrote it.
safarigirl:
It was one person's tweet, but I'm sure you know people comment under tweets, and those comments were from other Senegalese people.

I think two people at the least, can be referred to as 'Senegalese people', or, can they not?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:31pm On Jun 18, 2020
do more research. It will remain a big challenge. But somebody has to do something. And that doesn't mean it would be a freebie. There are no freebies. Investments are meant to yield profits.
safarigirl:
These are the challenges we speak of with Africa.

Hence, how unrealistic some plans appear
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:29pm On Jun 18, 2020
At least there is transparency in the press release with timelines. Hence, we can always do our checks. The report says it has been in the works not that anything has begun. Did the guy who twitted that stuff not see any land, or did not see a sizeable land marked out with the sign Akon City? I'm not sure I understand what he is saying. He claims to be close to the government. But Akon took pictures with what seemed to be government officials in his January tweet. Is it the same government colluding with him that Akon will accuse of shutting down his plans in future. The guy tweets sounds like conspiracy stuff. I'm wary of people like that. I rather do my checks and observe.

And how does one person's tweet represent the Senegalese people's thinking?
safarigirl:
He even said not one proof of land, and others on ground are corroborating.

The news will say what the news wants to say, it is not necessarily proof that anything is on ground.

At least three years after a city has purportedly been put into work, there should be land, especially a city Akon has been using to promote himself as a Messiah for Africa.

We are still watching sha. We will see if anything has changed by next year. To the Senegalese people, it remains a source of laughter and a means of Chinese infiltration.

KE International awarded US $6 Billion construction contract for Akon City, Senegal

KE International, a U.S. Based engineering and consulting firm, was awarded the contract to build and Execute US $6 Billion Akon City, Senegal

The government of President Macky Sall of Senegal has earmarked Akon City as a special tax zone with tax breaks to be given to the City to encourage investment.
AKON CITY, SENEGAL (PRWEB) JUNE 04, 2020

Akon City has awarded the contract for building and executing the city to KE International, a US based Consulting and Engineering firm. The US $6 Billion futuristic-cryptocurrency themed City is founded by Senegalese-American superstar and philanthropist Akon.

With the awarding of the contract, KE International has secured US $4 Billion from investors for the first and second Phases of execution of Akon City, and will have Dubai based Bakri & Associates Development Consultants lead the architectural designs under KE International guidance.

KE International is known for the design and execution of the US $2 billion Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC), a green City based in Western Kenya, which began in 2014 and is expecting completion in December 2020.

MMTC, which is 85% complete, was founded by a US based Kenyan entrepreneur and Investor, Julius Mwale. MMTC is anchored by Hamptons Hospital, a large 5000 bed referral hospital which opened to the public in 2019, and recently partnered with the AKOIN platform for its blockchain based digital transactions.

The entire Hamptons Hospital will be completed by end of 2020 and is currently a reference center for COVID-19 prevention and treatment in the 14 County Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) of Kenya, a region with a population of 16 million.

MMTC has 35,000 community residents served with a new supermarket, new and upgraded residences, Mall, Golf, thousands of solar streetlights, and is powered by 100% renewable off-grid energy. A large Artificial Intelligence Cluster to run the hospital is currently under development.

Akon City's Phase 1 is expected to complete by end of 2023, and will see the construction of roads, a Hamptons Hospital campus, a Hamptons Mall, residences, hotels, a police station, a school, a waste facility and a solar power plant.

Akon City Phase 2 will run from 2024 to 2029 and will end with a complete cryptocurrency City running exclusively on AKOIN cryptocurrency.

The initial US $4 billion investment secured by KE International for Akon City, is led by leaders in healthcare and technology infrastructure and include MMTC's Julius Mwale. Mr. Mwale's Hamptons Hospital, Mall, supermarket, solar power group, and data centers will be part of phase 1 of Akon City.

Another Co-development partner is Senegal's state tourism agency SAPCO, which will fit the City into the country's tourism vision. The government of President Macky Sall of Senegal has earmarked Akon City as a special tax zone with tax breaks to be given to the City to encourage investment.

Akon City is located on 2000 acres on the ocean, less than an hour drive South of the new International airport in Dakar.

KE International will build Akon City to be ‘Leader in Energy and Environmental Design’ (LEED)-certified, the second such City in Africa with this certification after MMTC in Kenya.

Akon City will also have parks, universities, schools, a stadium, hotels, and an industrial complex and will be fully completed by 2030.

I heard the interview on radio Akon spoke specifically on his solar energy project as well. And that the Senegalese government didn't allow him to get a piece of the cake from other big industries they had in their control, but only allowed him in the untapped solar energy industry that was still very new. I don't think he came off as if Senegal/Africa was backward. Many black Americans especially those in the entertainment industry have spoken about the truth about Africa because they have gone and seen for themselves.

Those who think Africa are backward are mainly those who refuse to travel or listen to those that have. As a matter of fact traveling opens your eyes. You will be surprised what comes out of the mouths of lots of Americans who just stay put in their domains. This is not limited to them alone. If you have the chance travel and see. Experience different cultures too.

Schmeichel on Ighalo:

“I think he’s been one of the most positive surprises ever,” he said.

“First of all his personality around the club, he’s been a revelation around the club. Everybody has tagged on and liked him straight away.

“When you have that kind of personality, it changes the whole team. Someone who brings a laugh into the dressing room, rather than coming in grumpy or not saying anything.

“It changes the dynamics. And what he’s done on the pitch, that really has surprised me.

“I was kind of confused…because it was last day and it looked as if they were just needing and looking to bring someone in.

“But that’s not the truth. And what he’s done is just fantastic.

“And another thing as well, someone like him, all of his life the only thing he really wanted to achieve was to play for Manchester United.

“Now that has been cut short by circumstances that are out of everybody’s control. And for what he’s done, in the very few games he’s ended up playing, it would have been heartbreaking if that was to stop.

“I think he might not be a starter but he might be somebody you can throw into the mix. You’ve seen him in the Europa League, like Ole himself, he can come on and change a game.

“Nobody, nobody, knows that better than the Manchester United manager. The value of having someone on the bench who can change a game, so I’m really happy about that.”
