I'm actually more excited about Tella considering the RW needs serious competition in the SE. We can fancy other CF options in midst of misfiring Boniface

mrwilliams9:
I’m glad Boniface is back, I really hopes this would be the season he’d stay injury free for the entire year.

Glad he’s back at the business end of the season. Leverkusen are in pole position to defend their Pokal title and are in touching distance of Bayern for the league.

True, Chelle should know better with a good knowledge of our team

Ndah for Bassey because supposedly Bassey is mainly a LB and Bruno fits that profile better. The oga is drunk.

Mujtahida:
If you get stuck on names of the players, you will miss the point which is that Chelle is dynamic yet with an identity. That sentiment is captured in the writer's first sentence where he said that "tactically, Eric has no ceiling". So when he mentioned Sodiq, I was merely bemused but that does not detract from the merit of his analysis. Ultimately, it's left to Chelle to deploy the tools at his disposal. Watch this video. It's not about particular players. It's about the overall coaching philosophy of the new gaffer

I actually laughed. The writer is assuming that Chelle would seek equivalence or the closest profiles he used to execute the "Mali Template". I think that thinking is flawed considering Chelle most likely had linitations in terms of abilities of the available players in the Mali team. If he trully is enterprising, what he would see with the available players in SE is more potential and with that comes more possibilities for adaptation to produce even better outcomes.

Isnt it nonsesical to think Chelle would drop Aina for Sodiq, considerinf if Aina was a Malian availbke to Chelle at the time, Ola would have been a starter who would bring a diffemt dynamic to the Mali game? I see other erroneous points he made. Bassey as a left back, Boniface getting the nod over lookman. Yusuf a deep lying Midfielder etc. to the extent that I'm beginning to question what's in it for the writer.

I encourage everyone to read this incisive thread.

Even if takes Peseiro kind tactics, the goal of any team is ti go the farthest possible, all tactics employed. Thats why its a tournament.

You guys should be patient with Chelle o if we no win AFCON. Chelle has never demonstrated this ability but there is always a first time.

Napoleon55:
Unfortunately we don't have the defense and midfield for third place finish, our attack is good but other departments is not.

AFCON trophy is the more realistic target.

WC third place at least. That should be the goal

Pick one target for the Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle

1. World Cup Qualification
2. Win AFCON
3. World Cup Quarter Final
4. Win CHAN 2025

Which would you choose and why?

It's one thing to believe. It's a bigger thing to make others believe. I've always desired a coach that believes in our true potentials. I do hope he is dreaming beyond Africa. All the same, a very good way to start.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:34pm On Jan 13, 2025
Leave matter for Matthias o. Where oga Charles?
TheGoodJoe:
That tactical perspective is what I am not sure of. I don't really know if Eric Chelle plays with a deep lying playmaker. Remember he dropped Bissouma from his side as the AFCON progressed. So I am not really sure if Kelechi Nwakali's deep control side will work for Chelle. He is the one to decide.

How Bonfere Jo made Okocha reduce his dribbling at the Olympics but other national team coaches failed to do that.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:28pm On Jan 13, 2025
Nwakali get stamina and he sabi run wella. I don press one button.

TheGoodJoe:
Some things we should know about our new coach, Eric Chelle.

1. He is very strict and demands discipline from all players. He has no room for big boys.

2. His philosophy and tactics rules his actions. Any player that does not fit in, no matter the level of the player will be cut off.

3. His system demands a lot of running. If you can't run and keep up stamina, sorry.

4. He hates interference with his work and is a kind of man that will not allow it.

5. We can expect new players to break into the team because if he sees anyone that suits his strategy, the person has a chance to break into the team.

I like the passion and belief. Looks like a guy that will not give excuses like "we are a young team' etc. the likes of Rohr, Peseiro had a "humble" approach. This is a breath of fresh air and we want to see it on Matchday one.

Where did i imply he handled WC qualifiers game. Chelle handled all 4 WC qualfiers. And yes you are right about AFCON 2025 qualifiers
jihday:
Saintfeit didn’t handle any world cup qualifying game, just checked what you posted, the Afcon qualifying table you posted is for this year’s own, Saintfeit handled all
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:36am On Jan 12, 2025
Ok, but my stats was not drawn from AFCON 2023 qualifiers
jihday:
Mali have struggled for goals under Saintfeit but they’ve been solid sha. Under Chelle they qualified for 2023 Afcon winning all but 1 game which was a loss away to Saitfeit Gambia scoring 13 goals while Mali under Saintfeit qualified for this year’s Afcon by winning 4 and drawing 2 with 10 goals scored 6 of them at home against Eswatini no need to downplay his record with Mali let’s just hope he get it right with the super eagles
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:53pm On Jan 11, 2025
A very good point i wanted to make earlier. Chelle will meet a different profile in SE, will he be able to make our midfield click? Time will tell. Let's hope for the best with him at the helm
Goke7:
The free-flowing football Mali played at Afcon is what is deceiving many, forgetting the Super Eagles don't have that spine or personnel for it. Even one-touch football is a problem, Whether it is Chelle who will play the midfield himself for us, we'll wait and see.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:37pm On Jan 11, 2025
Those stats include 10 goals or so credited to Saintfiet if im not mistaken

only if Peseiro and Finidi had stat padded with African minnows we would have been top of our group now

Lose? no be draw draw Peseiro bin dey draw...

Mali still has some decent players.

Mod
I just tried to attach a list of players that Chelle utilized with Mali, but I can confirm attachment functionality is broken

minfelix:
bros everyone in that group has tasted defeat…will still beat themselves and they lost to Ghana which is a stronger team…let them lose to Comoros and Madagascar before we conclude
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:00pm On Jan 11, 2025
for some reason it seems attachment is broken on NL, but over the 4 games in WC qualification, nothing impressive, and it is not looking like the situation will improve. Note the only win is against Chad at home.

minfelix:
with or without Chelle..Mali will slug out that group with Ghana and Comoros

Oga Ghana team na wash.. but granted the battle of west african nations can be unpredictable. If Chelle is the level you guys are placing post AFCON, those games after the AFCON should have been walkovers
minfelix:
bro nothing changed….Mali is not an African giant…stat padding against minnows means they are have quality above those guys…now playing the likes of Ghana and losing to them is expected..Ghana is not their mate…Comoros is another strong force rising within the rank..a team that ousted Ghana at 2021 Afcon….and plus qualifiers has not ended they still have 6games to play…A Chelle led malian team can stil turn table around against Madagascar and Comoros…
their first game after Afcon was against Ghana, you should know Ghanaians are under pressure to deliver…you cant write off a wounded Ghana team…if Mali had met Madagascar on home soil first game immediately after afcon, oga dem go beat madagascar
