Me I no get any grouse. What was his record with us prior to AFCON? I’m just saying things the way it is. Even the defense was piss poor.

Goke7:
this our arrogance will never get us anywhere, we keep denying the fact that the coach had to make do with the materials he had then, I know the major grouse some of you have is the selection of players he took to the tournament but the truth remains we have tried several players and this free-flowing football we all want to see still has not happened. I wonder when it will. Thank God Paseiro is gone, I will continue to wait for the magic the next coach will do, one is down already, let's see what's next
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:13pm On Jun 15, 2024
Hahaha .that job na bigger trap now sef. After the AFCON I had said whoever takes the job would need a magic wand. Today, it’s even a worse situation
Odunayaw:
The coach that will take the job now en grin grin
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:11pm On Jun 15, 2024
Incorporate which ideas? He stumbled on that tactics as my bro rightly said, he rode on with it it. Sincerely speaking, I think Peseiro needed help in the technical dept. he probably should have just been our defensive coach.
Odunayaw:
That's the word, pragmatism. Peseiro before AFCON was attack minded, we see how he leaked goals. Lost 5 matches out of the first 7! Even the first game at AFCON we saw how the team kept creating chances.

Injury hit and he adopted defensive compactness and rode it to the final. I hold the opinion the man could have built on AFCON and incorporated ideas but the majority nor want am
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 1:15pm On Jun 15, 2024
Yea like Senegal
Goke7:
is it not obvious? Abeg let the 94 set keep away from the National team, how can retired players be dragging spotlight with current players something is wrong somewhere
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:31pm On Jun 15, 2024
This man will succeed. I believe in him. He should just keep busy even if it means in the NPFL

AlbertoIancu:
E don happen🙂
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:29pm On Jun 15, 2024
💯 but you think the NFF did not have a big say in the invitations?
zicky:
As a newly employed coach with just a window before the next world cup qualifiers you go around inviting new players to do what, someone that has been around the team. He should have access the weak areas in the team and get one or two players to boost such areas. Try them in the friendly.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:23pm On Jun 15, 2024
I agree that the players should be carried along though.

zicky:
this your narrative no enter at all. The players are not kids and can be consulted to give their take on matters that concerns the SE, especially someone like the captain.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:21pm On Jun 15, 2024
These players are not even looking at the big picture. If they are not careful they may not even play at the WC until they retire.

Odunayaw:
If you cannot respect your boss, you gtfo the team

Which one has the pedigree of Finidi during his playing time. Dem never reach level to raise shoulders
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:19pm On Jun 15, 2024
I know you can accept to work under a white man does not even value you? where was Finidi all the while when Peseiro was at the helm?

Goke7:
Which grade is Finidi?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:06pm On Jun 15, 2024
Is a man that has no dignity that won’t resign and then accept to be the assistant of another European grade C coach.

He needs to iron his trade, yes ,but in a more dignified environment.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:04pm On Jun 15, 2024
I stand by Finidi if this is true. There are many factors that led to the poor results. At the same time I agree that the SE shoe was too big for him. I wish him all the best as he moves to another chapter of his career.

elyte89:
Can we confirm dis story
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:55pm On Jun 14, 2024
They will not hear. They will not compare Jpes and Rohr to the likes of Keshi and Amodu.
TheSuperNerd:
One of the top reasons I wanted both gone. Both had their positives and gave us joy in moments but both are poor in player profiling and a coach who is poor in that aspect cannot get the very best out of the Super Eagles.

But the fact that both went and Finidi came now make both look like Max Allegri and Sir Alex Ferguson. Rohr to Jpes and then to Finidi was an annoying art in coaching appointment downgrade.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:52pm On Jun 14, 2024
Against African opponents haha
Anyways at least u are honest enough to call them grade C coaches
jihday:
true, at least most of these grade C European coaches have proved they can get us playing decently against African opponents, at least I’ll take that over what we got with Eguavoen Siasia and Oliseh
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie:
Upgrade to Peseiro?

Mod
Portuguese div 2

jihday:
won Spanish division 2 twice won Romanian league Afcon bronze, not a huge profile but if you can appoint Finidi and also have Amunike name whispered around the job then this is several steps an upgrade
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:35pm On Jun 14, 2024
Let him come and we will see.
mekabuachi:
Give the man his flowers Biko... the fact he lost only twice out of 24 games, winning 14 and drawing 8 is a decent CV to me
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:34pm On Jun 14, 2024
The problem is that we are a defeated people. Healthy pride is when you know your worth and make decisions with a healthy sense of self worth. Foolish pride is dragging with South Africans and Ghanaians that you are better than them, but your decision making shows inferiority complex
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:30pm On Jun 14, 2024
You will get what u pay for.
elyte89:
A proven one will cost us more …I doubt if nff can go for any coach dt will demand above $50k monthly

Conceicao is a $50k monthly coach
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:29pm On Jun 14, 2024
Come back and tell me when Cameron has struggled to qualify for WC besides Russia 2018. WC is like their birth right. I will attribute it to their spirit during those qualifiers. Granted they are shitty at the WC proper.

mekabuachi:
loosing only 2 games out of 24
And winning 5 out of 6 wcq for Cameroon
That's massive!!!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:24pm On Jun 14, 2024
See it above. Certainly not good enough.

I’m not against a foreign coach. But if u gonna get one get a proven one.

elyte89:
His cv is not dt fantastic but I guess d only thing going for him is d record here in Africa with Cameroon 🇨🇲.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:21pm On Jun 14, 2024
I see a lot short gigs. Several backwater league titles. And an AFCON bronze several of our indigenous coaches have matched or even bettered.
Just a journey man experienced but lacking the profile good enough for a country like Nigeria. We can do far better.

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:12pm On Jun 14, 2024
I will like to check his profile as a coach. Has anyone? Or no one cares to be cause he is white?
humility33:
They should be fast about it to give him time to get used to the players

💯
TheGoodJoe:
Captain or no Captain, Musa was clubless and had no reason being invited. That is far worse than inviting Taminu. At least Taminu was not clubless and why should a player without a club remain captain?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:51am On Jun 14, 2024
The call ups is not the only factor for some of their failures. If it was, Keshi won’t have been successful.

How about Shehu?
Wasn’t Sadiq’s invite questionable? White coaches have their preferences too.

Napoleon55:
Rohr,Peseiro or any other foreign coaches wouldn't have called up all those jokers that Finidi invited in place of better defenders in Europe,at least.
Not that is a garantee that foreign coaches will give us success but local coaches are less trust worthy especially when it comes to corruption.

Siasia is my most preferred local coach, with five years contract,Siasia will give us at least one AFCON.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:48am On Jun 14, 2024
Like I’m defending Finidi. It’s the belief that any white coach will just take over and succeed that stinks for me.

elyte89:
But it’s obvious dis job is bigger Dan finidi ,I tot he could handle d pressure dt comes with d job,but I was wrong.his aura sef doesn’t ooze confidence like someone who is ready to take charge

Nothing special. Our mediocrity making Rohr look special. This is same Rohr that looked clueless for the later part of his 5 year reign with us

How do you see that benoise side coached by rohr

It’s pathetic when majority think by just employing a white TA, we will qualify. Na colonial mentality be that. Most times you will get what you pay for.

lol ehen na if he is not looking at the big picture but busy settling scores, he be problem #1 na

Then that one no be tackling again ma, Joe. 😹😹😹

It means he's the problem that needs to give way😹
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:15pm On Jun 12, 2024
Not with WC qualifiers in view. The first step to tackling a problem is to get yourself out of the way.

daveP:
I see the talk of captaincy as him trying to push out senior guys. Cos of all things to start a fresh journey, that's what you wana talk about? His moves on this chessboard are all amateurish in sincerity. Na him sabi sha.

That’s the issue we are tackling na.

It’s a combination of factors.

I think we were experimenting with our defense. Was Ekong not really fit? We talking of the AFCON mvp.
daveP:
That's what i kept insisting on. He's been there all the while, why did things now take a dive when he took over? Shows man himself na chilled Oliseh of sorts. Aside his lack of philosophy.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:01pm On Jun 12, 2024
The Sports ministry wanted Amuneke. The NFF stuck with Finidi.

Now that conversation may be replayed if the presidency doesn’t intervene. Or the NFF may just have their way for a foreign coach this time.

Goke7:
The Sports ministry had good intentions by picking Finidi cos I watched the video where the minister was charging the boys before the SA game to go all out that they intentionally didn’t appoint a coach they don’t know to take over perhaps the idea was to retain some good learning from Afcon since Finidi was assistant coach to Paseiro, remember we heard reports that the sports minister wanted to retain Peseiro. Honestly Finidi has more blame than nff or the sports ministry
