Is he starting them?
Will he even invite them if they played in a less competitive league?

Katcall:
Mainoo and Palmer (before Chelsea) have never played for the three lions before and Southgate is fielding them

Coincidentally I had already responded. But what has ur post got to do with me in the first place?

Katcall:
Bruno Onyemachi/left back, Ismaila/right back, but finidi in his infinite wisdom decided to try tanimu and osayi in righback and left back respectively. Joebie come and explain because you are his supporter

Has Ismailia played for SE before? How do u just pick players to start that you have not seen perform well for the team before?

Mod
Bruno is not even in this team lol

Williams is a very sharp keeper. You don’t do that around him if you are not Okocha.

Mujtahida:
During the AFCON, one of our attackers I think it was Lookman tried the same thing with William, he nipped the ball off him. Moffi tried the same thing. By now they should know that the GK is good with such one on one situations.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:01pm On Jun 08, 2024
Kelechi has club issues to sort out. Also he’s not had club games in a while. I don’t blame him, You can’t expect him to give at this moment. I blame Finidi for selecting him.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:58pm On Jun 08, 2024
Finidi just needs to get it right with his selections. We no longer have a midfield problem.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:54pm On Jun 08, 2024
I see no reason why we can’t beat SA away.
Games with bad pitches are the most tricky.

charlesemeka85:
if we can beat Benin,Zimbabwe home and away and beat Lesotho away then get a draw against SA we are good to go
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:47pm On Jun 08, 2024
A good thing to take away is that the players have understanding of how Finidi wants them to play. They just need to maintain the tempo then improve on how they played that second half, then let’s hope we get all the points left. just a few changes in the playing personnel, we are good to go.

In the future I would like to see Elijah and Akpom added to the fray. Cant wait for the return of Zaidu, Ekong and Ola Aina. Ogbu and Ndah should get a look in. Taminu for me is not good at advancing play. Doesn’t suit the style we want to play. Could be a back up though when we want to switch gears.. Iheanacho should sort out his club issues and stay off for now. Isaac Success maybe should get a look in.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:42am On Jun 08, 2024
How do you even call that a miss?
Did Moffi kick the ball?

He wanted to round up the keeper..

twentyk:
Cant believe this😱😱

I just saw that Moffi miss from a highlight.

How could he miss such chance for God sake.
What else does he want?? On his left foot again. Abeg that guy no be striker. Even Onuachu go score that goal.

Onuachu
Dessers
Sodiq
Moffi.

These four no follow.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:34am On Jun 08, 2024
when did we start having crossers? The team does not suit him.

Odunayaw:
What would you say about the tame header?

However I agree with you. For Onuachu to thrive the wings must be well oiled for low crosses/cutbacks. The right wing had Iheanacho and Tanimu, square pegs in round holes.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:25am On Jun 08, 2024
We are not missing Peseiro at all
mostob:
Well, we have the chance to top our group on Monday. let's just win Benin CONVINCINGLY because the whole thing might go down to GD at the end of the day.

The most shocking thing I read here yesterday was some peeps mentioning Jose Peseiro. Like was he not the one who drew the first two matches? I dey ask abeg Matches we ought to have won on a normal day. Baba denied us an AFCON trophy by listing almost 5 injured players in that final match when capable and fresh replacements are on the bench.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:55pm On Jun 07, 2024
Finidi has the potentials to do well in the long run. But na short run things we need now. I hope he can manage to get it right.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:53pm On Jun 07, 2024
These coaches really do thier homework. When Chuks came in, they knew just what to do. Two to three players on him anticipating his cutbacks.
but e for sweet if that he shot enter.. He is an x-factor (and I mean he brings a different dynamics).

Nobody is talking about Lookman. He was beastly only that he didn't score.

joelsteron:
Chukwueze is good. Just use him at 2nd half. Please can Onyedika and Ndidi play at the same time? Because I doubt FINIDI will move the latter to central defense
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:51pm On Jun 07, 2024
Fisayo is very attack minded with goals to show. The perfect replacement for Aribo, until the latter gets back to form
Yusuf is a different player entirely, but I would rather have a fit Onyeka.
kennysville:
If you can make time to rewatch that match. Then you can compare. I know bashiru scored but his overall work is where am talking about. If u observe the way Alhassan plays, he drives forward a lot. His passes show the intents. All I sha know is we need to get it right in the middle of the park for us to have hopes of winning matches.... otherwise it's gonna be huff and puff

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:48pm On Jun 07, 2024
How na, but we get 3 points.. how u do the math?

minfelix:
bros SA is currently on 4pts, they won 1, lost 1 and drew 1…so if they win Zim they will be on 7pts, while if we beat Benin we will be on 8pts…na that lesotho be the issue now…make lesotho and Rwanda jus draw or make Rwanda beat lesotho to climb to 7points while lesotho remains on 5pts.
But all the same i will prefer lesotho to beat Rwanda and climb to 8points if SE can beat Benin
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:46pm On Jun 07, 2024
there is nothing hard but e go surprise you how wining 3 games go hard.

7demons:
There's nothing hard here. If we win out next game against Benin, believe me we're already through.
Besides, there are about 6games more to play. So it's still far from over.
What we need is just to win 3games and draw the rest.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:43pm On Jun 07, 2024
This is how we should start. I'm okay with Chukwueze coming from the bench.

I would rather of Onyeka when fit, than Yusuf come in

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:35pm On Jun 07, 2024
we needed to pile pressure to score.. very poor in the first half.
hatakekakashi:
We're saying the same thing. Or what do you mean by intensity in attack?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:32pm On Jun 07, 2024

Mujtahida:
Onuachu is the most useless striker I've ever seen in the SE
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:32pm On Jun 07, 2024
SA go beat Zimba.. forget that one.. SA/Lesotho go run things after the next round.

minfelix:
My calculators are out
9ja dey 3pts now
in the Next matches on monday
we must beat Benin to climb to the top with 8pts then pray make Zimbabwe draw or lose to SA or make Zimbabwe win SA.
then make Rwanda beat lesotho or draw with lesotho.
With this we can comfortably sit at the top fof the group till 2025
just imagine calculation don start🤣🤣🤣
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:30pm On Jun 07, 2024
well said.. last last if we no qualify, na this yeye NFF

codemaniacs:
The NFF are the ones meant to provide the facilities and infrastructure for VAR and insist on VAR..

It is the incompetence of the NFF that there was no VAR in this match.

So it will be foolish of the NFF to file a petition just to hide their incompetency.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:29pm On Jun 07, 2024
Well he wanted to round the keeper. Poor decision considering that keeper sharp well well.

Nwamazi8:
I just saw the chance Moffi fluffed, my gracious God, how do these players score all those goals at their clubs and stink up the joint whenever they play in national colors? Chei!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:27pm On Jun 07, 2024
He press like 2 people but we still need Pks to beat SA at the AFCON. Our problem is not lack of pressers like Osimhen. in fact we do not need a forward to press like two players, as long as they can all press as a unit. Today we needed intensity in attack from start to finish.. we left it late.

hatakekakashi:
Osimhen is clear of all our strikers in every way. His best attribute is that he presses like 2 people.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:20pm On Jun 07, 2024
if we miss WC, e go pain me pass the last time.. See players when go miss
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:14pm On Jun 07, 2024
The push for home based players by the NFF is a distraction. If Finidi can get his selection right, we may qualify eventually. E still hard sha

Tinneh:
Tbh I was impressed by the gameplay, it was way better than any game we played in the last afcon, but it's obvious this team still needs more decent midfielders, we need someone that can bench iwobi during games...
Finidi got it all wrong in his line up, Iheanacho is washed and shouldn't be starting games for us moving forward, I'm also at dilemma at why he started and left onuachu for so long in this game
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:08pm On Jun 07, 2024
We started slowly.. They are not dummies.
9JAMac10:
These guys play their best in Europe and come acting like dummies in Nigeria jersey. Am disappointed in them
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:07pm On Jun 07, 2024
but well he just came off the bench.. that could have happened to even Osimhen.. Moffi had no business in the bench with an Onuachu on the pitch. if Moffi had that more time on the pitch I believe he would have scored.
