The sports ministry will have their way if they insist on Amuneke
Napoleon55:
It's not going to happen,
from one local coach to another? NFF won't do that.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:10pm On Jun 12, 2024
E get wetin make am no shit for body for school. Go find out. The players don’t learn to be professionals at their clubs. They have to be professionals or there would be consequences.

The problem is here at home and how we run things. These players also see an irresponsible NFF. Nobody sets good examples in the home front. It’s a free fall. Everybody do anyhow

Mod
So when your 14 year old see u dey shit for body, he go shit too kpruaaaa

mostob:
If your 14 year-old boy come back from boarding house begin shit for body, who people go blame?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:55am On Jun 12, 2024
Your children go boarding house dem behave themselves. When Dey come house, they misbehave. Who you go come blame?

mostob:
As we're here debating about sacking Finidi or not, let's not forget the player factor too. This set of players lack the drive, zeal and passion we expected them to have. Imagine arriving camp two days to the first match. Time for training, Dem go carry phone and MP3 dey form.

Imagine the rubbish the so called pros were serving us. Something they dare not do at their respective clubs. Like I said earlier, the players must show they need the world cup ticket more than anything else.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:41pm On Jun 11, 2024
You said “mainly”. But u for apply same logic for ur write up na if e for make sense.

codemaniacs:
There are many companies that consists mainly of 1 tribe or at worse 2 tribes.

Many state governments consists mainly of 1 tribe.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:31pm On Jun 11, 2024
Someone listed many factors and u are basking on tribalism. Show me one company, ministry etc that doesn’t have other tribes besides the big 3. Yes there is not tribalism in the land.

codemaniacs:
If there was corruption, godfatherism, tribalism, favouritism, nepotism then Finidi would have never gotten the S.E job it will be Ndubuisi Egbo that would have gotten the job..

if there was tribalism then the N.F.F will be filled with mainly Igbos, Yorubas and Hausas

if there was tribalism then the S.E would have topped the group because the Igbos, Yorubas would have done everything to ensure their foreign born players are capped.. how would Eze, Tella be invited and not capped that is madness..

if there was tribalism then the S.E would have a playing pattern because most of the players will come from one ethnic nation and would understand each other better the same way the Catalans helped Spain win the Euros and World Cup and created a playing pattern that the whole of Spain has adopted and integrated if it was Nigeria another ethnic nation would have rubbished and talked down on the pattern..

if there was tribalism then the S.E would play as a unit because most of them will come from the same academy..

the only way S.E can do well is for both government and private sector to invest in training facilities... that's the way France gets people from different cultures to blend and play well and they also maintain the Coach Deschamps that took them to finals...

You cannot get people from different cultures who don't train together often and don't have a playing and coaching pattern to dominate games they will have to play Mourinho or Simeone pattern of football..

If I pick a team based on corruption, godfatherism, tribalism, favouritism, nepotism and with foreign born players then my starting 11 will be:

Karim Adeyemi as LSS
Elijah Adebayo or Osimhen as CF
Lookman as CAM/SS
Saka as RW/RSS ( if he wasn't capped by england ) or Amoo regardless of his issues.
Onyedika as CM
Tijani or Onyeka as DM
Osho or Udogie as LB
Alaba as CB
Akanji or Ekong as CB
Ola Aina as RB
Okoye as GK

cheesy

Who be the old guards o?

jieta:
We just need to win all our matches, because i don't see South Africa going six matches unbeaten, even Rwanda and Benin don't have the mental strength to do that it's never over until is over.

Finidi should invite the old guards our back line lack experience.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:16pm On Jun 11, 2024
Efe Ambrose dey gbadu ur post.
MallamSpicey:
Omo if someone woke me up and told me the Super Eagles of Nigeria are dragging second to last position with Zimbabwe in an expanded world cup group that has teams like Lesotho, Rwanda, and Benin republic...I would have slapped the person for such insult and gone back to sleep thinking it was all a dream. But here we are, this is our reality in 2024.

Honestly this calls for an emergency situation in our football, Tinubu has to get involved and implement some tough decisions right now before it gets worse. Left for me, i no send person papa so I'm a firm advocate of overhauling 80% of this team, call up any fringe player(s) out there who will give his word and bond to fight till the last to salvage our world cup hopes, then such players should be made national heroes. I'm all for calling back or even begging veteran players like Victor Moses, Balogun, Ighalo and any other active player to come back and save us in our remaining games. These current set of guys apart from Osimhen and Ekong just don't have that rugged Naija never-say-never in them, these ones are IG models and banger boys on Twitter.

All hands must be on deck to make sure we win our remaining games and at least make the playoffs where we can decide our fate. NFF must send their best delegates to beg our veteran players who have retired to come back and make history for themselves! We are in a football crisis right now.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:07pm On Jun 11, 2024
Very true. Think Senegal.

Our stupidity will always come back to bite us. Make we continue the Owambe and tribalism
komekn:
Unfortunately while we were in deep sleep corruption, mediocrity, godfatherism, tribalism, favouritism, nepotism, ineptitude, incompetence took over our NFA now NFF.

We must realise that while we were in a deep comotose sleep other nations , were wide awake building up their football ⚽ development. Andbsime have left us behind or are now able to compete.

Top level entertainment football is still being played at the highest levels.of football ⚽ just not by us sadly and UNFORTUNATELY.

South Africa will lead Nigeria 5 points at the end of this round. We are in trouble
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:57pm On Jun 11, 2024
Our woes will be compounded should we have a run away leader in the group. If SA does well against other teams even if they lose to us we are not gonna make it.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:48pm On Jun 11, 2024
Osimhen was criticized for lack of goals. But no one can question his impact in other areas.

Goke7:
The same Osihmen we don finish for here? Abegi
And like I said much earlier I would have preferred paseiro taking all these hit than finidi who has finally made a bad case for local coaches
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:11pm On Jun 11, 2024
Same coach could only register 2 points after 2 games.

Let’s not forget Finidi didn’t have Osimhen, who was very instrumental to our AFCON run whether he scored or not.

Granted Finidi made bad choices in his selection, and maybe tactics as well.
Goke7:
The coaches that tried to instil the discipline and grind out the results we say they are playing negative football. We got to decide what we want
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:03pm On Jun 11, 2024
Well what is the mentally and attitude of Finidi.

There is a lot of factors to our bad performance, but I don’t get the attitude part.
Napoleon55:
Finidi is not capable of winning 2 out of 6 remaining matches especially with this same mentality and attitude.

And I'm almost certain that Osimhen won't be available for half of the remaining matches.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:00pm On Jun 11, 2024
Yes it will be a gamble to keep Finidi. We need a coach with that mentality and who can instill it on the players. Anything else is still a gamble.

Odunayaw:
It takes a coach with a win at all cost mentality actually and where we go find am
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:58pm On Jun 11, 2024
The players know themselves. It’s not about the fans. It’s about instilling discipline and promoting excellence.

Goke7:
but na we go shout if coach drop player wey we like o!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:24pm On Jun 11, 2024
It’s a discipline issue. Even at their clubs they could do the same but lose their position etc. we need to run this SE like serious business and with high degree of professionalism. Inviting players that have no business in the team is in itself another distraction.

Goke7:
we cannot be training so-called European professionals on how to keep the ball na, it means we don't even have the players and that's where the problem lies in this philosophy that we have mentioned before, the materials are lacking.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:21pm On Jun 11, 2024
None of the teams in our group is not susceptible to slipping at some point down the road. We just need a 100% record for our remaining matches and we will have a chance. We have the players at least, but can we pull it off?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:33pm On Jun 11, 2024
Ye ye ye. No be foreign coach start the qualification problem? The NFF could have had their wish and we could still have been in this mess. Make una stop to worship anything that is white.

opes:
Wont blame NFF 100% because they wanted foreign coach but the pressure was too much on them to appoint local handler. They were even threathened with a lawsuit if foreign coach is employed.. i wonder why their interest (stakeholders and influencers) are always on super eagles, our female teams are doing exceptionally fine.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:30pm On Jun 11, 2024
Can Finidi win us our remaining 6 matches? Na the koko question.

lbrichman2:
Very tight..
Even if we win all our games, we still need other results to go our way ...

But we should do our part and win our remaining matches
Warrior mentality is needed
Zero room for errors or mistakes

We must become that resolved and put together a Man City-esque end of season winning run..
Then hope other teams drop points
Anything other than that, were out

We put ourselves in this situation unfortunately
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:29pm On Jun 10, 2024

No its colonial mentality because all along we do not believe in providing our own solutions but keep looking to the West. It is colonial mentality intertwined with inferiority complex.the problem with the black man is that the black man COLLECTIVELY are not aware of their potentials

Mujtahida:
Hahaha forget colonial mentality. 60 years on your own we never fit do better. It's not colonial mentality that is our problem. We are incompetent. Oyibo pass us. Simple. The earlier we come to terms with this reality, the better for us.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:38pm On Jun 10, 2024
Na Oliseh fit us. Knack better sense if u no get respect. We can’t keep living with colonial mentality.

Mujtahida:
Few days ago I was like foreign or local coach is not the criteria, quality is. I take it back.

Foreign coaches are better for us not in terms of competence but at the level of perception and psychology. We believe in the white man. That's why our players respect them and diss our local coaches.

Abeg they should go and get a white man. We are not yet mature to believe in our own.
