Finidi did well adjusting. Not those stubborn head coaches we’ve had in the past.

The irony is he had one of his best games in SE shirt against SA. Just like Aina who has had some of his best games there.

AndSunGorilla:
Yes he did but maybe he might have had a better one on the right side.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:27pm On Jun 10, 2024
Anyway we all have our opinions. Let the coach do his work and let’s see how it pans out today.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:24pm On Jun 10, 2024
With Onyedika club form and his performance against SA, no coach in his right minds would leave him out of the starting line up. Yes Ndidi is the captain, but if Ndidi can’t do a job in CB, I do not know. Onyedika is a better passer and more imposing.

Onyeka, Onyedika and Iwobi should be in our midfield. Fisayo can play a more advanced role replacing Iheanacho. Chuks can always come in

Moffi as CF is on point.

Line up is courtesy ScoreNigeria

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:15pm On Jun 10, 2024
Osayi had a good game!

AndSunGorilla:
Score Nigeria has updated the lineup as
1. Same defense
2. Onyeka in for Fisayo
3. Chuks in for KC
4. Moffi in for Paulo

Personally i felt while Taminu was ok defensively, hus offensively play was abysmal as he's a CB. Also Osayi didn't seem comfortable in the LB position as he is right footed. Anyway all the best to us.
However, if FG loses today, the axe would be dangling over his head whuch would be a bad record for him.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:28pm On Jun 10, 2024
Moffi should have started intead of Onuachu. Moffi is fast. One thing I noticed is that we didn't stretch SA's defense. They kept their shape for the most part.

M7even:
I think this is the problem with many Nigerians. When they begin to overlook little stats like this and shouting a Finidi or whoever the coach is.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:26pm On Jun 10, 2024
On paper against SA Lookman played as a LW. But that's only on paper.
Lookman's shots were blocked for the most part, not from the wings. Most of his runs were not from the wings. He did his usual advances to creating space to shoot, but the SA defense were well drilled and disciplined enough to crowd him and block his shots. This is where we missed an imposing CF, one to stretch the opponents defense, that will create space for Lookman to thrive.

EEGA:
A 3-4-2-1 was used in the final with Scamacca as top 9 while Lookman was playing just behind him as an AML or LSS.He wasn't playing wide because it's not a 3-4-3 with him playing as a wide winger.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:23pm On Jun 09, 2024
Finidi only needs Peseiro’s personnel in defense, not his system. Finidi has a better system. Add Osimhen na yawa for many teams.

Mujtahida:
Second half was good but Finidi should not phase out the defensive philosophy of Peseiro. He should integrate it
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 10:18pm On Jun 09, 2024
The point is KC should not have been invited because we couldn’t have expected him to be in form.

maidaboi:
mcheew what where the "clue" players doing in our first two matches that the clueless player was the one involved in both our goals?

Yes we agree Iheanacho should not have started but calling him clueless is another thing

Abubakar never play for EPL o
komekn:
Abubakar has not been able to score more than 8 goals a season in the two seasons spent in the Saudi league.

But was not discarded by the Cameroon national team. I remember how he bullied Omeruo like a school boy.

But we discarded Ighalo too quickly for young pretender's like Sadiq, etc.

Simon got nothing on Lookman

Simon Moses cost us WC qualification against Ghana and it happened in the first leg, just a curling would have done it but hit the ball straight to the goalkeeper….Oh you forgot the same Lookman won us penalty against Ghana in the 2nd leg.

This SA knew what to expect from Lookman and they executed well doing very well to block his shots severally. With Osimhen in Finidi’s set up, we would have destroyed SA.

With the way Iwobi is playing now (as a playmaker) I only see Kelechi Nwakali as a potential back up. The latter is a better shooter though.

Or did you mean his action part on the pitch?
if I remember him in the first half he was always looking to linking up quickly. Doing swift turns and runs..
if you have much of the first half video, you probably can do one..

How about Tinumu. I remember him more for his sideways runs, not really doing much going forward or in forward areas. Had a couple great clearance though.
BascoVanVeli:
He did good I wasn't talking about his performance. I was talking about the making/editing of the video.

lol.. dude always misses from the squad because of injury. It's easy to forget him.

forgiveness:
Perhaps, you don't rate him.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:07pm On Jun 08, 2024
Okay lets forget that header miss. What did Onuachu add attacking wise? Any individual runs or goal threat? It's not like they didn't put several looping passes to him. Dude cannot run.. Does not suit our game style.

Lookman for example did not score, but took quite a number of shots that were blocked (kudos to the SA technical staff who also did their job here). The one he missed from a sexy (in Amokachi's voice) Onyedika pass, he probably would have laid it for Iwobi who was open.

M7even:
Onuachu should start in the next match. It's not like he missed any clear chance. The half chance he headed to the hands of the SA goalkeeper. He was OK. Except the midfielders who came in to influence the game , I didn't see Moffi do much better.

I keep forgeting Awoniyi. We have strikers to stand in for Osimhen. And they will deliver given the time Onuachu got.
why the delay in calling up Adebayo?
forgiveness:
My top 5 striker.

1. Osimhen
2. Awoniyi
3. Boniface
4. Elija Adebayo
5. Terem

Solanke and Samu Omoridion should be considered.

Finidi should be humble enough to accept that he got it wrong wirh Onuachu starting, and give Moffi or Boniface the nod against Benin.
