That's how Nigeria works..lol. I wont be surprised if someone in Nigeria is watching it privately, receiving signals direct from Corsica. Dedebanky85: If COrsica was playing CIV or Senegal, I promise you that the game would be on TV. Senegal played Naija and there was no live viewing. Senegal played CIV later in Paris, game was on tv. Naija would play Togo in same Paris, I promise you that there would be no link and the game would not be on tv. |

All You Need To Know About Corsica, Super Eagles Opponents In Tomorrow’s Friendly0News, SportsMay 25, 2017A+A-EMAILPRINT All You Need To Know About Corsica, Super Eagles Opponents In Tomorrow’s Friendly The Super Eagles will tomorrow, Friday play against the National Team of Corsica in an international friendly match in preparation for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa. The Nigerian National Team arrived Corsica on Tuesday, 23 May and have had series of training sessions. Super Eagles defender, Elderson Echiejile said he expects a tough match against Corsica. “I know a bit about them when I was here in France. Most of their players play in the Ligue One so I expect a tough challenge from them,” he said. But many will be wondering, what country is this? which continent it belongs too? where have they been all this while? Now this is all about Corsica and its national team. Corsica is an island in the Mediterranean Sea and one of the 13 regions of France. It is located west of the Italian Peninsula, southeast of the French mainland, and north of the Italian island of Sardinia. A single chain of mountains make up two-thirds of the island. While being part of France, Corsica is also designated as a territorial collectivity by law. As a territorial collectivity, Corsica enjoys a greater degree of autonomy than other French regions; for example, the Corsican Assembly is able to exercise limited executive powers. The island formed a single department until it was split in 1975 into two departments: Haute-Corse (Upper Corsica) and Corse-du-Sud (Southern Corsica), with its regional capital in Ajaccio, the prefecture city of Corse-du-Sud. Bastia, the prefecture city of Haute-Corse, is the second-largest settlement in Corsica. After being ruled by the Republic of Genoa since 1284, Corsica was briefly an independent Corsican Republic from 1755 until it was conquered by France in 1769. Due to Corsica’s historical ties with the Italian peninsula, the island retains to this day many elements of the culture of Italy. The native Corsican language, whose northern variant is closely related to the Italian language, is recognised as a regional language by the French government. This Mediterranean island was ruled by various nations over the course of history but had several brief periods of independence. Napoleon was born in 1769 in the Corsican capital of Ajaccio. His ancestral home, Maison Bonaparte, is today used as a museum. The Corsica national football team is the unofficial football team for the island of Corsica, France. It is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA. Until now, the selection has played against national teams only three times : in 1967 against France, in 1998, just before the 1998 FIFA World Cup against Cameroon (as a preparation game for the Lions Indomptables), and more recently in 2009 against Congo. In the past, the selection has also played against club teams, as in 1962 against OGC Nice, or Stade Reims in 1963. The match against Congo was organized by the CFA (Corsica Football Association). In order to be called up for the team, a player had to fulfil two conditions: having at least one parent or grandparent from Corsica and being a professional player or being part of a professional club. The match against Nigeria Super Eagles will be played at the Stade François Coty in Ajaccio http://www.nta.ng/news/20170525-corsica-super-eagles-football-match-friendly/ |

Seriously looking at him during those U17 days, I saw a player with so much hunger. He was progressing well in Spain. It's just my opinion that England is like a dreamland for many of our players. And it's not doing them good. I blame EPL fanaticism. Many of these players were already fans of EPL teams even as kids. They need some objectivity as professionals. chrisooblog: well either way it doesn't look good for isaac. if its true he is injured then he is building an unwanted reputation as a walking injury waiting to happen while if its true he asked for time off then he's an unserious human being. does anyone know the time of the corsica match? |

At the end of the day we dont make decisions for him. sontoly: Where else do you want him to go, La liga?, let's not be too critical cos no one knows the future, if English teams are coming for him and he has d zeal to lay there let him move , pls let's hold our thinking to ourselfs. You can't use ones situation to judge another, cos Musa n success flopped doesn't mean henry will flop too. |

Which is why I don't think England should be his next destination. Right now he has a high degree of self-belief, which can plummet easily in England. He is talented no doubt. I can compare him to Messi to some extent. But Messi has that all-round quality -- a great team player. terzurum5: My very honest opinion about Henry Onyekuru is that he needs to learn very fast the art of 'team play'' as he gets close to the EPL or moves to a better Club/League.
He needs to stop been overly selfish. I know that as a striker you need a certain degree of selfishness with the ball to deliver the goals. However, from the clips I have watched about him including this very one, he tends to hold onto the ball too much even when it is evident he should have passed to a better placed team make. If he had done this before now, his average assist could have been far better than what he has done.
He needs to go to a team with the Coach that is determined to work with him to polish his game. English defenders will be so merciless with him.
Henry has shown great potential and promise in the just concluded season. He deserves all the attention he is getting at the moment. I just have a feeling he will be a big hit in any league he moves to. Waiting for him to score on his debut. |

Sorry just seeing this tbaba1234: According to a report by owngoalnigeria.com, Isaac Success requested a three day break to rest before joining the team. And Rohr asked him not to bother to come at all.
He was hardly playing all season, why is he asking for break? Onyekuru and Kayode who have been active all season are not asking for breaks. |

Let the ANS/OGN media war continue. This is from ANS Exclusive: Success Withdraws From Togo, RSA Games; Watford Write NFF About Groin InjuryPublished: May 26, 2017 Exclusive: Success Withdraws From Togo, RSA Games; Watford Write NFF About Groin InjuryAllnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Watford young star Isaac Success has withdrawn from Nigeria's upcoming international friendly against Togo (June 1) and the African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa (June 10). There is no mischief involved in the striker pulling out of the Super Eagles squad as he is currently down with a groin injury he sustained at Watford, and the Nigeria Football Federation are aware of his ailment. As a result of the groin complaint, Success was conspicuously absent from the match day squads when the Hornets tackled Chelsea and Manchester City in their last two games in the Premier League. Watford wrote to the Nigeria Football Federation straightaway when Success's name popped up among the invitees for the get-together in Corsica and Paris, demanding that he should be excused. The former Granada starlet is presently in the United Kingdom but expected to arrive his homeland as from this weekend. Ifeanyi Emmanuel http://allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=23187 |

I agree, we see them often like that while on club duty. But don't forget their playing position in their club sides are due to other factors as well, not just their natural position. The strengths of their team members are also taking into consideration. Modern wingers can play both flanks. Onyekuru is right footed meaning whenever he plays on the right he could make some crosses every now and then. But from the left he cuts in almost all the time, due to his inferior left. Conversely, if he were left footed. I've seen Iheanacho play on the left flank, and he can be a wonderful crosser from there. At the U17 he was the number 10, but we saw him often times operate from the right flank. He would cut in and use his left to shoot. Remember his Tanzania goal. Etebo, of course you already stated a fact.. I like the humor there. We would need him soon as GK. our GK crises.. pheewww sontoly: Kelechi shld strike and henry to the left then etebo right, henry operates from the left most times and cuts in, etebo is also good in any position her versatllile, he can play even as GK |

No plans to leave Manchester City – Iheanacho Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho insists he has no plans to leave Manchester City despite being a peripheral figure at the club.
The Super Eagles player is being linked with the likes of Everton and West Ham United due to his lack of playing time at the Citizens, where he is clearly behind Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero in the pecking order.
However, Iheanacho insists that he has no plans of leaving the Etihad Stadium and expects to be part of the club’s plans for the 2017/18 season.
“I’m not very aware of that,” the Nigerian is quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“I just keep working with the team and I’m still at Manchester City so I’ll meet up with the boys and kick off the season with Manchester City.
“I’m happy to stay at Manchester City and keep fighting to help them achieve what they want to achieve.”
Iheanacho added, “Manchester City is a big team and we need to go far as a squad, so we need everybody.”
Report a problem. |

I think my beloved forumites have already answered correctly. In fact any match that is considered in the FIFA ranking system will tie down the player. Come to think of it. The ranking takes into consideration matches played by countries in the past as well. So we dont want a situation were a player made contributions to different teams, which will make the system flawed. Just me exploring the logic behind the FIFA rule. Mujtahida: If Ebuehi gets to play today does this officially mean he's been capped by Nigeria since today's match is not recognised by FIFA? it will take longer than we think. The elites always have a way of inciting hate. Mujtahida: You welcome. It's been a pleasure making your acquaintance. During my service year I met(amongst many others) three guys, one from Bayelsa (Ijaw) another from Rivers State(Okrika) and another from Delta State (Delta Ibo). Till date we are still friends. With time we will outgrow this tribal thing or its influence would be weakened particularly since we now have more inter tribal marriages than in our parent's time. |
Politics › Re: Biafra: Only Fools Learn From Experience, The Wise From History – Osinbajo by Joebie: 7:51pm On May 25, 2017 |
You are even well informed than myself. You can never beat experience. I doff my hat for u. Mujtahida: Yeah you clearly misunderstood me. I meant the Igbo as a distinct ethnic group with its variations. But still your piece was enlightening. I am very well informed about our tribal and ethnic diversity. I was fortunate to have grown up on the Airforce Base in Makurdi where all the tribes lived in almost perfect unity and harmony. I had Ibos Hausas, Tivs, Ijaws, Efiks, Angas, Idomas, Igedes, Ogajas, Yorubas, Fulani, Itshekiris, Binis, Isans etc as friends, neighbours, church members or classmates even till date separated to different places we still feel like kith and kin. Our retired parents still meet regularly. Growing up I thoroughly enjoyed reading Achebe, Ola Rotimi (thought he was yoruba but later discovered he is from Rivers State) Elechi Amadi, J. P Clark, Christopher Okigbo, Gabriel Okara, Odia Ofeimun, Cyprian Ekwensi, Wole Soyinka, Dan Fulani, Zaynab Alkali, Abubakar Gimba, Flora Nwapa, Buchi Emecheta, Eddie Iroh, Onuorah Nzekwu, Chukwuemeka Ike and so many others(especially in the pacesetters and YAW series) I can't remember now. I had my Uni in Zaria, served and spent six years in the south West. I simply don't know how to be tribal or ethnic in my thinking and outlook. I am a Nigerian. Till date just by looking at a person or hearing them speak I can correctly guess which tribe or ethnic group they belong to.
For example many don't know that not everyone who is from the north is an Hausa man. They don't know that we have Jaba, Kagoro, Kataf, Tangale, Kanuri, Angas, Baju, Tarok, Miango, Berom, Zuru etc etc or that even Hausa itself has linguistic variants. In short the North is as ethnically diverse as the south if not more.
Some bit of enlightenment( as you have rightly suggested) along this lines truly helps to broaden one's outlook. We are just being cheated by our elites. As diverse as we are I believe Nigeria can work and there's enough, more than enough to go round for everybody but truly the present set up is warp up. It's no good. |
