AIG07: yes dat's what de do. Don't forget the means of transportation de often use is road. They spend hours like 7-9 hours in some cases they'll have to spend a night to rest before resuming their journey the following day.e.g lag to kano is more than 12-15hours drive(moving on poor roads) putting in mind that the gaps between these fixtures are barely up to 3days...
Nigeria World Cup Winner Not Offered New Deal By Chelsea Published: May 23, 2017 Nigeria World Cup Winner Not Offered New Deal By ChelseaEnglish Premier League champions Chelsea have parted company with attacking midfielder Habib Makanjuola.
The status of the former Nigeria U17 international at the Stamford Bridge outfit had been covered in mist, but a Chelsea youth-team expert has revealed that he has not been offered a new contract.
''Yeah, he was with the club as a schoolboy, won some skills competition in Nigeria. Didn't get a scholarship,'' Chelsea Youth tweeted.
''Last I heard he was with a local youth club in Birmingham.''
Makanjuola was part of the Golden Eaglets squad at the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, and played their first group match against Mexico.
if not for ur handle I engage everyone one here like they are guys.
I'm not aware of all that. By free pass, I was talking generally in society.
safarigirl: nobody has ever given me a free pass here, so i don't know what you are talking about. Someone has even threatened to kill me on this thread, if that's a pass, I don't think I want it.
Attacking someone unnecessarily because of an old grudge is something girls do, so if you pull a female stunt, you will be compared to a female.
I have overlooked some attacks recently, but he and all the four women that liked his misplaced comment just deserved a call out. I know of many other ladies here who also dislike me for reasons best known to them, they tend to like comments that attack me.
Most times guys give ladies a free pass. That's how the society is. But many at times ladies take it as a liscense to mouth someone down. Because they don't expect to be paid back in kind. Some Guys get mouth too o. Some people don't comment on here but they observe and they may form opinions about others. Well it's a free world we all form opinions of people, but one advise i have for you. Never suggest to a man that he acts like a lady. That's the worse thing you could ever say to a guy. The same way some guys say here that u are like a guy. Personally I don't see it as a nice to say. Interests in sports or any field is not exclusive to any gender.
Let's learn to grow a thick skin in forums like this where we meet different personality types. Many times there are nicer ways to pass a point or two accross while we disagree but most of us get too emotional and stop at nothing to prove we are right.
Sometimes avoidance is the best way to avoid future conflicts with people who don't weigh their words. We find it hard to respect each other during engagements.
safarigirl: I was not trying to be rude to you. I was just asking an honest question.
I don't know how you read that, but your hostility was uncalled for. The way some people here like to reply me is very disturbing.
See as cold enter my body as i read your reply, what did I say wrong for you to attack me like this?
I am just here, itching to say a lot to you for this unnecessary attack, but I told myself I would try to avoid altercations on NL.
I want to just know why I get attacked when i ask innocent questions and nobody attacks others like this.
Cc Icon4s, tbaba123, joebie, thegoodjoe, thesupernerd. Please, someone explain this to me, let me understand the order of the day on this thread.
Are we all going to be petty? So, once we have disagreements with each other you have to consequently treat the other person like a leper?
I used to think women are pretty, but the men on this thread take it to a whole new level, I am starting to think there are other ladies here
I agree there are other factors.. The MLS as well is devided into two conferences. I think it would be good for the NPFL. Then we can have a super 6 to decide the league winner etc
MODIFIED why can't club sides travel way ahead of their fixture?
AIG07: well you might be right. But one thing that i'm sure is that the numbers of away wins will reduce and hey don't think i'm been pessimistic it's just the truth.
I wasn't even suprised with the result cos it was an expected one. Reason because the league has just resumed and the players are refreshed.
Crowd violence is not the major cause of away loss or draws we do see across all venues(north, central, south, east and west) as 'most' crowd violence is known to come from the north.
This numbers you see will begin to reduce when fatigue starts to set in as the league progresses most likely in the next 3-4wks.
The rigor in which these players undergo is overwhelming. Imagine a team in lagos that just played on sunday traveling to maiduguri/kano to play on wednesday by ROAD... What miracle do you want them to do there. We shouldn't be expecting any different result as long as these teams keep travelling long distances by road.
The NNL has greatly improved in term of result been churned out weekly simply because of the regional system(norther and southern conferences) been used-sir Dannycrusoe can attest to this. The proximity of venues has greatly help these players to stay fresh for a long time.
No sane host crowd will interfere with the match when they see their guest outplaying and scoring them.
Meanwhile, I think the realistic results across Nigeria on Sunday may be due to the recent resolution made by the LMC and representative of the clubs to tackle home crowd trouble. Referees are beginning to feel safer. Maybe oh.
Mujtahida: Watching Chelsea win the EPL, I had a shiver just thinking about the day Nigeria wins the world cup. It would be a glorious day. I pray it comes soon.
Agbo has been enjoying regular call ups. He needs to really work harder as competition is getting stiffer even in the defensive midfield position. Mikel Agu is here. Some players may hardly get another chance if they fail to measure up with the competition.
tbaba1234: Uche agbo is the first guy in the Eagles Camp.
One thing for sure is Awo enjoyed regular game time even before he started scoring. The coaches did not throw him on the pitch for nothing. He must have showed great potential in training. It happens to even the best strikers sometimes -- goals drought. Let's take it that it's beginning to click again for Awo. But sometimes it takes someone's advice or some tweaking in the team tactics to get things going the way of the player. Let's not give the new coach all the credits just because Awo is 19.
TheGoodJoe: If you hinge more on Awo pointing out that the team now plays to his strength, that lies on the coach. It takes a coach to adjust a team to play a particular way. Also, there is no guarantee that Awo's goal challenges are behind him. That is why continuous work is necessary both ways. From the team and the player.
My brother I once said here, I wont blame anyone who refuse to play for Nigeria. Anyone who turns down Nigeria i'm sure have good reasons. But at the same time I remain patriotic even though there is no logic in it. I will be deceiving myself to adopt another country. The truth is our heroes don't have much to be proud of. I'm sure many players talents wasted away or were at least not given a fair chance. Not saying those who were given did not deserve it. We do not have a transparent system to give the best a chance because of our very sentimental mentality.
However, we cannot keep settling for players that choose Nigeria as a fall back option.
tbaba1234: ” I was told of the interest from Nigeria by my father but as someone who has played for Nigeria in the past, he advised me to focus on progressing through the ranks with Germany instead of considering a switch to Nigeria “,
Jordan Torunarigha
Imagine an ex international telling his kid not to play for Nigeria. It is usually the other way round. If Jordan does not play for Germany by age 25, the tone will change. I think, he has the talent to go far though.
Gram! Tell them In fact you don't use the word hype for a player who is showing class. To say Onyekuru is being hyped means he is not good enough or is mediocre. Fact check: wrong. His argument should be he will not leave up to expectation with the SE. How about we wait and see. Onyekuru deserves the attention. In fact I was already singing his praise when he was at single digits in goals scored. I know a player that will go on to achieve when I see them play. Mark my words, he will exceed the Simon and Musa put together.
tbaba1234: Hyping a player who continues to put the ball in the back of the net is normal. He is currently the highest goal scorer in Belgium. He keeps delivering. What is there not to hype? No one is calling him a Lionel Messi but he deserves the attention, he is getting.
There are two extremes, over hyping and Dismissing..
You are on the other extreme. Football is about results and so far this season, Onyekuru has produced results. Dismissing that will fall flat every time.
I have watched Onyekuru, several times. I am not basing my opinions on a highlight reel. He certainly has enormous potential.
I do not understand why you are showing clips of Simon Moses to prove a point about Onyekuru. Has Simon Moses scored 23 goals this season? Does that not already show you a difference in their play.
Ronaldo is Selfish, Thierry Henry was selfish, Lionel Messi also goes on selfish runs.. No one complains when they are producing results. Onyekuru is producing results. Bottom line.
TheGoodJoe: I hope Onyekuru maintains his lightweight and keeps working on his speed. If he gains weight in the name of fitting with the EPL it will affect his speed. Messi was lightweight when he ghost passed Manchester United players who were EPL Champions and on top the EPL table.
Onyekuru's speed is one of his key attributes and he should not tamper with it. Also, weight might result in him becoming prone to injuries.
An Etebo-less starting line up. You are kidding me.
AllforJesus7: I have watched his highlights. Nothing special. Onyekuru is not a good crosser of the ball. He just loves to run at the wings and dribble into a cul-de-sac and he does not like to pass. Nothing to justify walking straight into our starting line up.
I see why Rohr prefers a highly technical scorer, passer and player (Osimen) over him.
Now remember he is still playing with back water defenders. The game is different with established leagues and defenders where he must be able to keep his head up and give cool passes/crosses to beat defenders and have a technical link up play. Otherwise he may end up as another Imoh Ezekiel or Musa.
I agree but I disagree. All your points about Osihmen is so very true. All those coaches couldn't have gotten it wrong. They like what they see in the boy. There are some players that you can't keep out of your team even if you are sure you won't start them. That's the charisma Osimhen has.
But to say we have many Onyekurus, I disagree totally oh. Onyekuru is not just all sprints if that's what you are trying to suggest.
AllforJesus7: My point is Osimhen is the gifted type of player. Every coaches' dream. A sharp striker who can lay deep passes from the midfield like a No.10.
Do you wonder why he walked straight into Siasia's team right from U17? Or you wonder why Wolve's coach rushed him into the starting line up just fresh from injury? Why does Rohr keep insisting on him?
The coaches simply see a technical gem on the training grounds.
He is untested but he is much more of a gem than Onyekuru. The modern game prefers highly technical guys to those who can sprint all day with with no end result..... because in big and tough games, precision (of passes, shots, crosses, tackles etc) and technicality is what would matter most on the pitch.
Conclusion: I see what Rohr and other coaches see in Osimhen and I stand with Rohr's decision to include him in the team ahead of Onyekuru whether tested or not.
We have many Onyekurus already (musa, simon etc.......they all play with their head down and final passes lets them down 7 out of 10 times). But we rarely produce an Osimhen.
I believe there was more to the deal. I guess when the Premier League ends we will see...
I picked Rohr because he has put us at a big advantage early. I can't remember the last time we took such early lead in WCQ. Mama Florence, please tell me what she did with the team. What was worth hyping?
daveP: only jerseys of the hammers is the one with the public knowledge of the deal. as for my pick of the awards, its the same as yours, except that its early to pick, then mama florence deserves it more than rohr. what she did to our women team is worth big deal, just media didnt hype it, but i saw it. when we get wc ticket then rohr owns it.
We are talking about clubs not leagues. I'm saying if any club at the moment have the kind of financial backing to do that, it's definitely Ifeanyi Ubah FC. But its gonna take some time..talking philosophy etc like you rightly pointed. I remember the West Ham deal, I don't know how much that is paying off, but he pulled a big one there.
daveP: The club is wealthy, but do they have a philosophy, pattern or vision? I saw what they did in anambra and a pro club shouldnt be doing such by now. They should wake up so they can beat zamalek, el merikk, tp mazembe, sundowns, etc, on their way to african glory. The psychology of not winning an away tie is a cancer in npfl.
