if I give my pikin advise, must the whole world know.. no be for the same house we dey stay?

in fact the papa himself must feel more German than Nigerian. Maybe his role at Hertha Berlin U-10 or whatever dey catch am. You know there are these category of Nigerians that go abroad, and all the say or think of Nigeria is negativity, in fact they pledge their allegiance to Oyinbo. I suspect he is that kind of person. lol

Lorfa's is an embarrassment for an ex international who once I don't know if he is still one of the top heads in lobi stars management....

so greedy...I tell you he is constantly repeating his son will play for Nigeria wen he clock 23....to play fast game on himself...
he hopes his son get capped by England before he clock that age...otherwise he turns to Nigeria... he wanna play a fast one on us.

for the Hertha Berlin guy....his Dad stance is understandable being that he is on the payroll of the German club...saying otherwise or convincing his son to ditch Germany might cost him....his job.

in fact if only Alaba was patient. I'm sure he is regretting it now. His talents is wasting away internationally. Austria MAY never qualify for the World Cup throughout his playing career.

You have spoken correctly. The timing may just be right. After UAE U17 WC, I predicted we will have at least 8 of those players in the SE within 5 years from our winning that tourney. Although Falling short of my prediction, we can still boast of about 8 U21s in the current SE. We are about to witness another Golden generation. But will Lorfa and co be part of this rare history? One thing I know for sure England will continue to wobble in international soccer.

The choice is theirs as always
Mujtahida:
We are on the cusp of a new era. Even foreigners are beginning to feel the tremors (let me borrow Chrismario's word). The Coach of Corsica said as much too. So if the parents of these boys are blind, na dem sabi. Maybe they need a Dibia to sound it into them. We need all our talents - home grown, foreign born, all. Let's approach, persuade, entice and encourage everyone but who want do yanga, we free am.

This football thing is a tide. One time (as in contemporary times)it was France 98-02, then Spain 2008-2014, currently Germany. It looks like ours has come. Incidentally it has coincided with the auspicious arrival of Rohr to help us manage our usual incompetence small. And then the deal signed by NFF with Aiteo to take care of the bills of our Coaches. Who knows what the soccer gods have decreed. But the omens look good.

Check your list, i've highlighted the players we want to see play. Also Uche Agbo, Mikel Agu, and Awaziem. Not forgetting Odey (for those who have been crying foul over his non-invitation before now). Now that's a handful.

Here is my proposed squad based on what we are hearing from the training camp.

http://lineupbuilder.com/?sk=tx5j5

Icon79:
Just from the top of my head, here's a rough guess:

Alampasu
Ezenwa
Ekong
Nacho
Henry
Tyronne
Alhassan
Etebo
Odey
Olatubosun
*Musa (in honeymoon mode)
*Mikel (injured)

Meanwhile, my major concern is that we won't have a chance to see the likes of Noah Bazee, Isaac Success, Moses Simon, John Ogu, Osimhen, Ndidi, Kayode, etc.

ijaws, itsekiris, urhobos, variations of Igbos? one thing that baffles me is how we are not enlightened about our diversity. I've had this observation long. The truth is our parents do not care to enlighten us. We have been brought up with these generalizations that if someone is not Hausa or yoruba they are igbos. My brother. Nigeria truly is a multi-cultural country. These many tribes are different and distinct. In fact let me inform you that the urhobos are more closely related to the edo's who are in turn more closely related to the yorubas than the igbos. The itsekiris are similar to the yorubas. The ijaws are FAR from Igbos..

Well, it's not that we are oblivious to these facts. I actually think we dont care to really do a research because the mindset is that many of the minority tribes have no significance in the scheme of things after all.

MODIFIED
I think I misunderstood you. But let others who are not well informed know.

Mujtahida:
You are right about Quebec in Canada. There's also the Catalan region in Spain, the Kurds in Turkey etc calling for self-determination.
On this your apt observation as regards language being a fault line and a fulcrum for self determination do kindly show how viable Biafra is, since to my knowledge Biafra (based on the supposed boundaries) is still going to be a mosaic, a welter of ethnic groups-Ibos abi Igbos (with its variations) ijaws, Itshekiris, Urhobos, Ekwerres, Okrikas, Efiks, Ibibios, Anangs etc. As in another Nigeria ethnically speaking.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:42pm On May 25, 2017
Problem with parents generally is they always live in the past. Only if some can look to the future and realize their days are not necessarily like ours. Today foreign born players stand a better chance having a long career with Nigeria. You cannot use your judgement of how u were treated by Nigeria in the past, and think your child will experience the same (papa Torunarigha and Lorfa in mind).

Icon79:
You've said it, my brother. Too many loopholes in the whole story, jare. I think some of these guys only develop interest in Nigeria when they are ignored by England.

Take the case of Dominic Iorfa instance, last year, his dad declared that he would not rep Naija. Fast forward a few months later, Iorfa was dump on the bench by his club, the same man (his dad) cried out that he was only being punished by his coach because he chose Nigeria over England. And now, the same player is getting an invite to England U-21.

Strange days....

I agree that it isn't a must win, especially since the game isn't even gonna affect our FIFA rankings. However, my concern is that many of the players we'd like to test are not in available either (Noah Bazee, Isaac Success, Osimeh, Kayode, Aina, etc.)

We havn't learned the white man's language. say one thing from one side of their mouth and do another thing.
Is it Tammy and Lorfa begging to represent the UK now?

They said it should be a thing of pride to play for England. But apparently they are pulling a stunt here on Tammy. Anyway if Tammy had earlier ignored Nigeria's interest, I must keep my mouth shut. How do you process the passport of a player that is not interested in playing for Nigeria? Let's hear the truth about Tammy Abraham, because it's not adding up.

Icon79:
I knew that they would quickly get Tammy Abraham entangled in their snare, especially after our NFF officials had stupidly broadcasted to the whole world that they have Tammy in their plans. I won't be surprised if they try to cap him at the senior level as well .... to keep him beyond our reach.

The NFF is populated by a group of daunces sad angry

Chelsea's Nigerian Whizzkid Named In England Provisional Squad For U21 EURO, Akpom Missing

Published: May 25, 2017
Chelsea's Nigerian Whizzkid Named In England Provisional Squad For U21 EURO, Akpom MissingEngland U21 Head coach Aidy Boothroyd has announced a 28-man provisional roster for this summer's UEFA European U21 Championship in Poland (16–30 June 2017).

Two players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dominic Iorfa have been selected in the group.

But there is no place in the roster for Arsenal talent Chuba Akpom, who flirted with the Nigerian national team during their get-together in London two months ago, and ex-Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe.

England appear to have given up as regards to securing the international future of Ola Aina, as the Chelsea fullback has been omitted from the squad though he has been invited to the U21s in the past.

All the aforementioned players have been approached by the Nigeria Football Federation to play for the Super Eagles.

Aidy Boothroyd must name his final squad for the U21 EURO before the UEFA deadline of June 6, and five players will not make the cut.

The Young Lions are in Group A of the tournament and face Poland, Slovakia and Sweden in the group stage.

That brings us back to my initial post. I was not in any way saying that language is not a factor. But I was stressing the all round development of the player in the long run should be the main consideration. In fact language is not a barrier on my opinion, else coaches would have been asking to know if the player can speak the local language before considering signing them up.

Many coaches these days are multi-lingual.

Success should have opted to remain in Spain.
Iheanacho should go to Germany. Onyekuru as well. But i no be their papa. I'm just considering their playing style and thinking your next destination is always crucial to your development. I could still be wrong after all.

BascoVanVeli:
I never meant that it was the sole factor but i am sure language plays a role.

But Nigeria or never actually suggests if not Nigeria, no other African country. Na wa o.

Praying for Naija to be top dog in the world is another matter.

safarigirl:
Just like whether they win or not will not affect my country, so why should I support them? If your neighbor gets a promotion at work, is it your salary that will increase?

I get emotional about sports, like I say here a lot of times, I take it personal. So yeah, I want my country to be the top dog, is that not better than people who never care about watching a Nigerian match, but won't eat if their foreign clubs lose? undecided

No I'm not.. We can all do a self check to see if that kind of sentiments stretch to other areas of our lives.

Of course whether u support a country or not on TV will not affect their performance.

I don't get too emotional about sports for you to think that.

safarigirl:
I think you're taking it just a wee bit too far.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:23pm On May 24, 2017
Granted.
Would you rather have an Asian country or United States win the WC first?
One thing, it's always easier to learn from your neighbors first, because they were most likely in a similar circumstance. All the comparisons with the EPL etc, Can't we learn from the South African league. We are ahead in talents because on our focus on football and our advantage in number, but they have achieved a lot in a relative short time considering their circumstance. If Ghana wins the WC first it is by merit and they deserve it. Well different opinions, but I'm gunning for who is more like me. The westerners rope all of us as the same no matter how hard we try to be like them more lol

Mujtahida:
Generally speaking I don't think like that especially on the home front as in Nigeria and how we run things (let the best have it is my motto) but when it comes to international football or sports I want Nigeria to be first or never. It's kind of quirky. Don't take it too serious.

Enjoy my bro. But safarigirl and all those with that kind sentiments, Africa will be stunted with the mindset of Nigeria first or never. Or my village or never. Or my state or never. In fact our political class are capitalizing on that to chop and go free. I may be digressing, but this is more encompassing then we may think.

Mujtahida:
My guy I know I am being prejudicial but allow me my guilty pleasures on this one.

Niaja too like to imitate. I beg make we love our fellow Africans. The true pace-setters are those who innovate and set standards. Not copy copy westerners. Truly we are just super-consumers. Na these kind statement dey start Nigeria vs Ghana wars or to make other Afticans start the hating. I be Nigerian but let truth be told, we too like to form one thing. We ate the loudest anywhere we are. Honestly I really do wish our advantage in population can count positively for us.

Mujtahida:
Yeah you are right. That German of Nigerian descent manned the German defence wella. We could not do shingbai.
Ever noticed that apart from the North Africans our players are the most refined in appearance? The other African countries always try to swag up but end up looking like Bansie or Diouf of Senegal with him sandpaper hair.

Let's take a look at 3 countries with the highest exports.

Does it follow that MOST of their players are shipped to countries that speak the same language?
i.e Most Brazilians to Portugal
Argentinians to Spain
France to other French Speaking countries (Belgium, Switzerland etc)

BascoVanVeli:
Back in the days our players had no choice. U have to remember that these are young men and should be expected to want to socialize. Not speaking a language is very tough and it can also limit performances. Translators are nice but they won't be going on home with u to talk to ur neighbors. I agree with u that learning cultures and languages will always come in handy but performance on the field comes first and if a player is not comfortable it will be hard for him to perform.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:18pm On May 23, 2017
Back in the days, most of our players went to non-English speaking countries. I don't think it's a factor generally. Professional football gives accommodation for non-native speakers. I think many of our players are looking for comfort zones too early in their career. Should my child in future be a professional player, I will advise him or her to go to a country that will aid their development irrespective of the official language of their destination. Learning more languages should even be a plus, because they could take to coaching or so many other responsibilities after their playing career. the more languages they can speak and the more cultures they experienced during their playing days will add to their capacity. I can't over-emphasize the importance of learning about different cultures in this globalized world as we have it -- international business in my mind.

BascoVanVeli:
Language would also play a part.
