I found this thread really helpful when I decided to apply for my 25% benefit with Stanbic IBTC so I have decided to post my own journey. Kudos to the initiator of the thread. I applied for my 25% having gathered the required documents and placed a formal application via email on 20th August 2020. I was paid in less than 2 weeks. 20th August: Application was placed and acknowledged by Stanbic IBTC. 25th August: My previous employer had responded and my application sent to PENCOM for approval. 28th August: PENCOM approved. The amount was debited from my RSA. (28th was a Friday) 1st September: Payment hit my account ledger balance. Six hours later, payment reflected in my available balance. Stanbic IBTC truly knows what they are doing. I was able to monitor the entire process via the portal even though my application was sent to them via email. In all, it took 12 days including weekend to receive payment from the day I applied. |

Had my interview today with my wife and son. Embassy was crowded as expected. Got there in time to do the pre-interview screening. Got on the queue and watched how the VO on window 6 was having a field day dishing out pink papers though he gives you every chance to overcome the normal presumption. Eventually I got called to window 9. So many pink papers by the way. TRANSCRIPT ME: Hello, good morning. VO: Passports please. ME: Gave her with smiles. VO: Where in the US are you taking your family? ME: Orlando, Florida for Christmas holiday. VO: Have you travelled as a family in the past? ME: No (I brought out my old passports) but I've been to the UK in the past as a tourist and masters student. VO: Don't worry about that. ME: Smiles. VO: I can see you are in banking. How long have you been with XXXX bank? ME: Told her. Now facing my wife. VO: Madam how long have you guys been married? MY WIFE: About 2 years now. VO: What do you do? MY WIFE: I'm the MD/CEO XXXX. Specialists on bla bla bla. VO: I see you have a son already (pointing at my son sleeping on madam's shoulders). Do you plan on having more kids? (In my mind, how e carry concern you?) MY WIFE: Smiling. Yeah but I'm not pregnant yet. VO: Typing vigorously as though she has a deadline to keep. Stretches out her hand. Heaps of white papers and another heaps of pink papers. Grabs a pink paper and started some hard-core rap I can't remember. We said thank you and left. MY wife and son have been sleeping since that morning time till now. Should I go back to the embassy tomorrow morning? |
Why are we wasting pages on this issue? Tomorrow an applicant will visit and ask a question and someone will ask him/her to read up previous pages. What's to be learnt from the last 9 pages or thereabout? |
justwise: Which area in Bradford did you get accommodation? There are some good and really rubbish areas. Lived in Bradford for a good number of yrs.I got hostel accommodation @ The Green campus hostel accommodation. The Green is one of the best university-based hostel accommodation. Very nice, neat and spacious. 12 students to a flat. Really worth the money. Btw, I've seen some rubbish places on arrival. |
Congrats Holyboy. I arrived UK yesterday morning. Still trying to get settled. Tho I was dragged to a student night party last night. It was really crazy. Please anyone going to Uni of Bradford or you know someone that knows someone? |
God is goood!!! I picked up my passport/visa yesterday. I have many revelations. I applied initially on July 4th and received a refusal on July 25th cos I used a fixed deposit and company account. I transferd the funds into my account and made another application on September 9th. I attached a letter appealing to the ECO to consider my start date which was September 23rd. My visa was issued in Sheffield, tho I applied in Lagos. It was issued on 13th September (4 working days). I wasn't notified for collection until on Monday 23rd. I'm leaving tomorrow (thursday) on Emirates. As per processed passport or processed application, there is no evidence to prove whether it determines the decision of on your application cos my refused and approved application showed "Processed passport is in transit to the UK visa application centre. I use this opportunity to thank everyone and congratulate those who applied on the 9th of September with me in advance and others who were granted and will be granted entry clearance. God bless Justwise and his colleagues at Nairaland. |
jennyfar: They stated in the refusal letter that they had used an exchange rate of 249.95, there is no way it will be over 3,000,001.48, my fee is 13,200. I paid 8700 leaving 4500 to be showed. 4500 + 7200 is 11,700. I was sure I did this calculation with several conversion rates before applying. The day I printed the oanda rate it was even at 251.57 so 3,000,001.48 at 251.57 is still 11925.11. They used 249.95 as exchange rate for 4th sept which is the day I did my interview which is 12002.40, so how did my funds fall below the 11,700?Dear Jennyfar, Its really sad to hear your application was refused. I am afraid the ECO is right. Though he should have just overlooked and consider the fact that its just a difference of about £30. On Wednesday 4th of September you had N3,000,000 in your account. According to Oanda conversion on that day, if you are selling £1, you will be paid N249. If you want to buy £1, you pay N257. Now with your N3,000,000 you can only purchase about £11,673 on 4th September. Miracles are happening! An Entry Clearance Manager is usually in charge of Admin Review. Write a letter explaining the situation. You may be lucky by God's grace. In the meantime, email the refusal notice to your school immediately and seek an extension. |
guardian09: Hello all, I would like to find out if a fixed deposit account can be used to show evidence of money available for study @ the uk. Thank you.Using a fixed deposit account will lead to a waste of time and visa fee. This is what the ECO will likely tell you. As a Tier 4 Student, you have to show that you or your parent/legal guardian hold the required level of fund or that you are in receipt of an official scholarship. The fixed deposit account you seek to rely on are not acceptable as evidence of funds, though you have access to the money, I am not satisfied that you have provided the specified documents.... Bla bla bla. Don't try it my dear. |
Changes to Tier 4 Visa application fees. For those who will be putting up application from now henceforth, be aware that the visa fee has been increased from N77,480 to N80,460. An additional charge of N500 for handling fee and an optional SMS charge of N400 is also payable along with the new visa fee regime. |
newtral: Got ma visa today after 10 working days thnks to justwise, Dami Zaccheaus nd every one.Congratulations dear. Best wishes. |
@Lamie, I think you should desist from misleading applicants and focus on your own application that is still pending with The BHC. You are giving people the impression that a transaction MUST be made on the 28th day. This is untrue and very misleading. As long as a bank statement shows a date of between dd/mm/yy - dd/mm/yy and has a closing balance that shows the required funds have been held for 28 consecutive days, and not more than one month from date of application, an applicant is sure of scoring 10pts for maintenance in the PBS tier 4 visa system. |
@Justwise, please I want to ask the following questions; 1. I opened a fresh account with Heritage Bank with the intention of making a Tier Visa application. The funds are well in excess of the required funds needed for tuition and maintenance. The funds completes 28 days on 3rd September. Since I paid in the money, I have not done any transcation. Do I need to do a transaction before obtaining a bank statement? 2. Since I opened a fresh account with the sole intention of making a visa application, will it in any way affect the outcome of my application. @Justwise kindly advise me. |
I wish you goodluck. Please which VAC did u apply and when? samueltin: @justwise, like i said, tomorrow is my collection date!(My heart skips). I submitted My statement of result carrying the. Registrar's number and a certified Transcript duly stamped and signed.all tuition fees paid with a month booked accomodation with the college. Yet i still maintained 10000pounds for 33days before my application,Zenith bank PLC,My CAS,and Oanda. Print out, passport ,2p.photograph and My. Visa form. @plz i hope am safe oooo! Av been avn sleepless night againt 2mao... |

The victory of Yar Adua at the polls was not unexpected, rather what is to be unexpected is if Yar' Adua tries to impose Sharia in the South-South, fails to address the problem of the South-South and continues to intimidate our freedom fighters.
