WebmastersRe: 'Stealing' a Domain Name (Cybersquatting) by joftech(m): 7:41pm On Aug 14, 2005
I saw Woo interactive only a few days ago, I'm surprised it's no longer there!
It's a very stupid oversight on their part to let their domain expire without renewing it. This is part of what am saying about Nigerian webmasters, they lack the maintenance culture. cry

Anyway if you have spare dough you can easily register that domain and resell to them for a higher fee (get rich quick) wink.

Sincerely, the solution to internet scams is rather very simple. The internet keeps so much records of people's activities via ip addresses, the email addies used, the Internet Service Providers, the Cyber Cafes, and the Phone numbers for dialup users.
the above stated solution can't work due to some technical limitations, there's no way you can track a user that is using a proxy server for his/her connection.

one of the major problem that i have discovered is that most of the people may want to buy things from the web but since credit cards are not readily available to them so they resort to getting one by any means.

I hope the proposed national ID card that they said will also serve as a credit card will see the light of the day.

I still believe that the prolem with Nigeria can only be solve when people know their rights and stand up to take what rightly belongs to them. Am not talking about what the south-South people are clamouring for, am talking about making political office holder know that they are mere "servants" and not semi-gods.

The masses for a mere N500 will just be too willing to give away their votes. This happens as a result of not been educated on the ills of this acts. They will tell you that if you vote or not the ballot is a done deal shocked, (there's no confidence in the electoral process.)

For example commercial transport operators and many other artisans nationwide are forced to join some sort of organization/union. According to the 1999 constitution this is very illegal, but you see these unions enforcing their stupid laws on anyone that open shop without joining their cartel. I once told a taxi driver that does he know that it's illegal for people to be forcing them to join a union, he totally objected and said that it has always been like that and that no one can change it. This shows how bad this situation is.

How about the police collecting bribes at checkpoints, how about NEPA/PHCN officials, how about thousands of other instances.

We all need to rise up from the slumber of apathy that has carried us into the dreamland of a better Nigeria, we must work for a better Nigeria, we need action, we need a revolution.

When you look at people that have been ruling this country you will know that it's the same set of family that continue to govern the affairs of this country. For how long shall we continue to go in this direction.

I wonder how Nigeria will get to the promise land without a REVOLUTION.

@Kazey, it's like you are taking Remedy's "PROVOKE" in another context.
WebmastersRe: Doing E-Commerce from Nigeria (the 419 Stigma) by joftech(op): 8:22pm On Aug 10, 2005
Internet cafes can play an important role in combarting such crimes.
@Kazey, it's true that internet cafes can play some role in combating these frauds, but i want you to know that it's almost 100% imposssible to determine what people are doing on the internet with an Internet cafe's facilities. When you look at the ethical part of the whole show it's very wrong for an internet cafe operator to be sniffing network connections from customers terminal this is purely evading people's privacy, how about if what they are doing are legitimate. What that guy in Seun's article did is very very wrong shocked.

When you also consider the fact that most of the mail clients that people in Nigeria use are web based i wonder how you will be sniffing http connections, although this is possible but it's not as easy as monitoring a dedicated mail port.

The bad image that Nigeria has been able to garner is most largely due to the activities of some unscrupulous beings who has now turn the 419 saga into their means of livelihood, these idiots include operators of the following sites and their variants: www.419eaters.com, www.ebolamonkey.com, www.quatloos.com, www.quatloosia.com.

Until these idiots are forced to shutdown all these sites, Nigeria will continue to get a bad name.

Of what use is being a good guy when people still see and call you a bad name despite your change of character!

Me am not against tithing, what i believe is that pastors should not be saying they are collecting the money for God since this amount to deceiving people; (or do pastors have a secret door to God's throne?). The God we can see are the poor among us Matthew 25:34-40 . In my own opinion tithes belongs to the poor.

Even in some churches where much emphasis is laid on tithe paying some of the members are poor and the church will be doing little or nothing to better the lots of these have-not.

PoliticsRe: content deleted by joftech(m): 9:52pm On Aug 09, 2005
The problem with Nigeria is Nigerians. 95% of the people in Nigeria today don't know their rights and they don't know how to ask for or take what rightly belongs to them. I see this as a chronic form of illiteracy, the mentality of our people is that once you have been to school you are literate, this is purely wrong. Our people need to know their rights too.

Before Nigeria can get to the desired promise land we must all wake up to the reality that our rights determine our future. Bringing in some foreign policies can't solve the problems with Nigeria today, we that are in Nigeria today have to take proactive approach to our nation building if we wish to see a better Nigeria during our lifetime. Running out can't solve the problem; He who fight and run away live to fight a more bitter fight ahead.

Nigerians are the most conformist in the world and this is what politicans are capitalizing on, we believe that since there is nothing that can we can do to change the country we all decided to take the impassive stands in national issues.

Most of the times i used to laugh when some people are always calling on God to solve the problems with Nigeria. Some preachers are even making the biggest blunder of all time by saying that the problems with Nigeria are caused by demons and invisible forces. The problems with Nigeria are the Nigerians, the “Nigerians” are not even those running and ruining the affairs of this country, the Nigerians in this context are the masses. As long as we continue to take a sit-down approach on our national issues, we will continue to wallow in this quagmire of uncertain and bleak future. cry cry

Sometimes ago I watched Funmi Iyanda’s interview with the Senate president (Ken Nnami), I really like what the Senate president said about all these stupid governors. He said that when they commission some stupid projects it would be a national headline; they tagged this as “Dividend of Democrazyembarassed shocked. The senate president said one thing which has always been on my mind on the program. He said "what about those countries without democracy where the government is giving the people wonderful amenities" unlike the shoddy projects being executed by these praise-seeking governors.

When you see the praises that some gullible masses shower on these political office holders on commissioning all these questionable projects you will only but wonder if the so call “messiahs” have used their personal money to execute the projects. It really make me sick; what do these stupid praise-singers expect them to be doing with the pulic funds in their care.

Until we are able to make these political office holders realize that they are not gods but ordinary public fund and property care takers Nigeria will never progress.

Anyway I foresee what happened in France in the 1770s repeating itself here in Nigeria soonest.

I think as Obasanjos is fighting the evil epidemic of corruption in the country, he should also try and improve the PR on Nigeria regarding online fraud. Most of the reasons why foreigners see Nigeria as a corrupt nation is not necessarily the issue of all the money that the millitary and the present politicians are stealing, they are referring to Nigeria's online image, afterall what concerns them with our internal economy.

If Mr. Prez can at least shut down all those sites that have now make it their point of duty to dent Nigerias image the more it will be a good thing.

But will this ever be possible!

@Seun, if you don't know Oluwole, it means maybe you are not in Nigeria o. embarassed shocked Or are you deceiving us that you are in Ogun State?

Even that former disgraced House of Rep Speaker is a client of Oluwole. (Hope u get me.)

Anyway i don't think all the foreigners need to know what Oluwole is, i always try to limit the number of hits that google will bring out on 419 and scam on Nigeria, the best way to do this is to use "Naija terms".

PM me or anyone on Nairaland from Nigeria for the meaning of Oluwole.

What is your own suggested solution to this yahoo boyz stigma.

The only Nigerian preacher whose "talk" i like is Sam Adeyemi, he makes people see reality and not some false hope.

Anyone should grab his "Parable of Dollar" and see what am talking about.

You r still speaking english. I am saying The Electricity shouldn't be handled by the Government. NO Government at all.
FROM MY EARLIER POST:

Each of these are divided according to the geo-political zones and private operators will take over the runnning of the various units.
PoliticsRe: NEPA now PHCN (Power Holding Company of Nigeria) by joftech(m): 11:04am On Aug 04, 2005
If NEPA is to be privatised, can these stations be disengaged from each other
It's damn possible to separate them. NEPA problem is as a result of it unwieldy nature.

What the govt want to do now is to create Gencos, Transcos and Discos. The Gencos will see to the generation and maintenance of power from the power stations, the Transco will be responsible for the transmission of the generated power, i think the govt. is not privatizing the transmission though ( is stand to be corrected here), the Discos are the one that will make final delivery to end users.

So as a a Disco you can buy power from any Genco of your choice and resell to the end users.

This way i think the problem of a single company running a big entity like NEPA will be abolished.

PoliticsRe: NEPA now PHCN (Power Holding Company of Nigeria) by joftech(m): 7:51am On Aug 04, 2005
Electricity companies should be many in NIgeria---private ones for that matter
What the govt. want to do is to break NEPA/PHCN into various units (GenCo = Generation Company, TransCo = Transmission Companies, DisCo = Distribution Companies).

Each of these are divided according to the geo-political zones and private operators will take over the runnning of the various units.

PoliticsRe: NEPA now PHCN (Power Holding Company of Nigeria) by joftech(m): 9:16pm On Aug 03, 2005
Yeah i know...but at least they should still privatalize NEPA.
Is like you are not current with latest developement as regard the power sector in Nigeria.

PHCN is only a care-taking body, and they are the one to manage the technical and management of the defunt NEPA till when private companies come on board.

What they are doing now is to see that most of the equipments are in good shape so as to increase "dead NEPAs" monetary value to would be buyers. They will also see to the demobilization of current NEPA/PHCN staffs.

PHCN is not just a name change, it's just a care-taking body.

Are the Israelites in any way connected to Abraham?
Yeah they are, the generation is this: Abraham > Isaac > Jacob(Israel).

God's promise:

Genesis 12:2. “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless

thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will

bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in

thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

This promise is why the US of A is very prosperous today.

Promise of Israel:

In Genesis 15:18, the Lord said that Abraham’s descendants would have

their own country, and that this country would be between the river of

Egypt and the Euphrates River. (People sometimes call this the Promised

Land.)

And in the new testament:

Galatians 3:29 And if ye [be] Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and

heirs according to the promise.

Any other thing bro?
