And Jesus said in Matthew 6:7-15 and i quote "And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this:

Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our debts,
As we also have forgiven our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses"

But some pastors will tell you until you shout and get your voice out of your throat your prayers will never get to heaven. LOL

seems heaven is in the sky to some people.

Those that did good will definately make heaven. Before Jesus came Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Elijah, and all others made it to heaven so what stops our people here from getting there.

They changed from sky-blue to black, this signaled the begining of evil vices in the NPF.

I propose RED. This will make people that come across them to know that they are danger zone.
Christianity EtcRe: Are We Living in the End Times? by joftech(m): 8:28pm On Sep 21, 2005
Just like Exu said there has been things like these happening since the beggining of the world as you may know it.

Did the killing of Abel bring the end of the world?

Most people take the Bible and all other sacred books for their literal meaning.

Mt. Vesuvius erupted and killed thousands, it did not bring the end of the world, hummanity has been facing one or two man made or natural disater since the creation of this world, still it has not come to her end.

We now know that flooding is/are been caused as a result of global warming, most of the so called disasters are man made. Still we say they are "signs" of the end time.

Talking about these "signs" is trying to predict the future through "mediums", a practice which the Bible frowns at.

If most of the people on this thread know the amount chaos that has been going on in outer space they will pity those "people/aliens" that might be on these planets.

Humanity/civilazations can only distroy herself, this has happened and it will countinue to happen.

If you don't know everyday the world is ending.

ComputersNigeria and Dark Fibres: What hope for End Users. by joftech(op): 7:24pm On Sep 21, 2005
Yesterday i travelled down to Lagos, and as usual workmen were on the road digging and laying fibre optic cables as usual.

What i don't still get with all this is what are these comapnies (GLO, MTN,...) doing with these dark fibres if i may call it that, are they laying them for the tech necesities or for competition sake, is thier microwave network not enough to carry voice traffics.

I think they need to open up access to these networks so that end users can access it for data transfers instead of only giving access to corporate money-bags.

I want people that know better on these companies and their fibre network operations to tell me what i might be missing here.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission estimates that Nigeria's past rulers stole or misused 220 Billion Pounds. This amount is as much as all the western aid given to Africa in almost four decades. "The looting of Africa's most populous country amounted to a sum equivalent to 300 years of British aid for the continent." Source: The Telegragh of London, June 25th, 2005 Have you ever thought of what that money could have done for us over the years? if spent judiciously.Remember that you can contribute to corruption through your actions or inactions..help rid Nigeria of corruption by sending this to as many Nigerians as possible..."you do not have power to change the past but you can influence the future" Our future and the future of our children

EducationRe: 6-9-3 Universal Basic Education (UBE) Scheme To Replace 6-3-3-4 by joftech(m): 11:32pm On Sep 20, 2005
So does the govt think they can salvage the fast sinking boat of the nations education this way. A first degree in Nigeria is nothing but a school cert equivalent in the 80s.

Merging primary and secondary school seems to me as a not well thought out plan.

When i did my calculation it translates to student finishing secondary school by 21! angry. So before they will finally get to and out of the university they will be about 30 something!

What gave them the idea that this will stop Nigeria from having an overpopulation of unemplyed school leavers.

Saying maybe NIgeria is land-locked shows that you have never seen the map of the world, or maybe you don't know how to interprete one if you see it.

I thought Nigeria was land locked? These beaches on some sort of lake are they? Is it safe to swim or is it croc hunting territory?
Am still amaze about how dumb some people are about the countries of the world. You can do some googling and get everything you want about any country.

Even UAE have articial beaches.

Praying from a mountain top means that you are closer to Heaven, and so your prayer will be better heard by the Creator. In addition, there won't be any noise from traffic, hi-fi stereos, etc. to drown out your prayer, so the Creator will hear it even better.
So bros where is heaven, is heaven in the clouds. Men all you see is space above you heaven is something you can't see with your naked eye. Heaven is in your heart.

Climbing to mountains to pray is just a reinforcement of the age long believe that heaven is the cloud you see.

Praying inside your room with a sincere heart will bring heaven closer to you than shouting on Mt. Everest.

That's why Monday is the first day of the week worldwide. If it were Tuesday, then we'll all be going to church on Mondays, so far it's the 7th day of the week.
So means God did not rest on sunday then. I think yall get what am saying now, simple logic. People only imposed it on us that God rested on Sunday, if you know what the Seven Day Adventists have gone through you will know some people are fighting over what they can't prove.

I don't know if you know that 1 day on earth is not the same in God's plan. You can check out this site: ( http://islam.speed-light.info/relativity_quran.htm ), ignorance is more than a disease.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Silly Beliefs That You Know Of by joftech(op): 11:17pm On Sep 18, 2005
God rested on the 7th day. Sunday is the 7th day of the week.
How abot if u start counting the start of the week from Wednesday, you won't have sunday as the 7th day of the week.

@joftech: From your two posts on this thread, it seems to me that u like opposing stuffs about church and God.
There's nothing like opposing church and God. What am saying in essence is that no one really know this things. So those telling you that those things are facts may not actually be telling you the truth afterall.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Silly Beliefs That You Know Of by joftech(op): 11:00pm On Sep 18, 2005
I wonder why people have to go to church on sundays even when no one know the actuall day that God rested.

woah..Nigeria is not the poorest country o..what about Algeria what about Kenya..not gon happen, we not one of the 10 poorest countries..
Nigeria even deserved to be in position -100 in the list of the most poorest nation on the face of earth. If you compare the resources and the level of poverty in the country you will know they are not lying.

There's real poverty around here!

It always amaze me why laws in Nigeria are setup solely for the less and non well-off.  What stops these thieves (sorry governors) from being procecuted, atleast they should be remove from office. These issue of financial impropriety cut across all strata of the political system here in Nigeria.

The future of this country look really really bleak, the youths have no role models hence the need for them to involve themselves in online frauds.  Or what is it that separate a bastard and psychopath that call himself governor who is stealing money and a 419er.

Tonight i say it, may all the governors that are stealing and keeping what belong to the masses for their own enrichment never know peace, may the sufferings of the masses never allow them to eat the fruit of these stealings, may the blood of all convicted common criminals haunt them for life.

Why all these stupid talk/advice for him to go for masters. He does not really need that if he determined to make it in life.

Ubong Essien of http://www.mistermotivator.com said he graduted with 3rd class.

You can check his latest article in Success Digest.

It's all about your attitude not your altitude.

And why is the main guy not even responding to all these posts, or has he let the storm of his 3rd class swept him off the stage of life!

Originally Titled: What is the Most Stupid Dogma that you know.

For sometime I have always wondered how on earth some people will subject themselves to [silly] beliefs.

Kindly post the most stupid believe you have come across or know about, try to state your reason why you think it's senseless.

These are some of the beliefs; I don't know why we have to do it:

1.) Why do people have to go to mountians (ori oke) to pray.
2.) Why do some pastors tell their church members not to watch TV.
3.) Why do people have to pay tithe to pastors/priests.
