CaptainFM1: OP said they have just 5 flats in the compound, why will they now be pumping water 3 to 4 times daily, or do they have a fish pond? |
Properties / Re: How Much Electricity Does Water Pumping Machine Use In a Month? by johnpablo541(m): 4:40pm On Oct 24, 2023 |
NotoriousBiggyS: 1000naira per flat is more than enough, which is 5k per month. My compound makes use of 1hp pumping machine and we contribute 400naira monthly for the prepaid meter. Total number of flats in my compound is 8. 1 Like |

Kingosytex: We usually have 18 to 24 hrs of electricity supply daily at my location but some people still don't want to pay for power consumed. My neighbour bypassed her meter some months ago and bragged about it some time ago that she has only filled her gas once this year. Bottom line is most Nigerians want everything to be free. I even heard that some AEDC staff are the ones being paid to do the prepaid meter bypass. 1 Like |

tosinet: Most bank branches were given 1.9 million of the new naira notes. So they only pay out only 5,000naira of the new notes and give you old notes. So if you withdraw 100k, you will receive 95k old notes and 5k new notes. |

azizsystem: Truth is most freelancers don't have the time to mentor anyone. You just have to learn on your own and ask questions when lost. I only read venzal's thread before starting up my freelancing career. There are lot's of freelance gigs you can do, you just have to discover yourself first. Is writing your thing? do you enjoy writing? You have to ask yourself that question. Another thing is the competition is stiffer now on the freelance platforms cos a lot of people are going into it, so it will take a longer time to land a gig. |

pocohantas: Well spoken, then a lot of us Nigerians have poor work ethics. I had this friend i used to share gigs with when i have too much on my hand. After a while she started giving excuses why she couldn't do the job, she will call me later in the evening that she had church program and they didn't close on time, or have one marriage or occasion she wants to attend. |

hellohgy: Yes, writing still sells on Upwork, but the competition is very stiff right now. If you are new on Upwork it may take a while to land your first job. Be patient and keep submitting proposals. Once you have had several hires it becomes easy, you wouldn't need to be submitting proposals that much anymore as you would start having repeat customers, and invitations to interviews. Upwork is like the regular job market, only that it is remote, the clients are not there to dash anyone money, rather pay for your skills and work done, some do send tips though if they are very impressed with your world. A friend of mine joined Upwork and I told her to learn the particular skill she wanted to sell, she said "it no hard jare." She got her first interview within a few weeks and the client asked for a simple task, guess what she flopped. When she told me about it I had to look at what she did and I laughed, I told her that what she did was below average. She was all about the money, she keeps asking, "how much do you make every week?" I told her to calm down and focus on learning the desired skill and building a profile. Then concerning your question on bank accounts, when I started, I was making withdrawals to my naija bank accounts, I no longer make use of that. I now make use of Payoneer and USA virtual accounts, you can get them from Grey and Geegpay. Here are a few useful tips, start small. Don't go and be charging $30/hr when you have no work experience on your profile. Sometimes I do get some offers to write a simple letter for say $10 or $20. I still do it, it doesn't take more than 20 mins to do that, just check google for samples and edit them to the client's requirements. A client once messaged me that he wanted to write a letter to a school in the USA to find out if they will consider him for their masters program, I got confused with the request, cos I felt even someone in secondary school should be able to write a letter to ask an institution such questions. I just sha wrote the letter and sent to him, dude was super-excited. So start small, and focus on building your profile, the money part is important but it should not be the only thing you focus on for now. 24 Likes 5 Shares |
