CelebritiesRe: Shade Ladipo To Modele Fatoyinbo: ''Your Husband Will Rape Your Daughter'' by Johnsghana(m): 9:44pm On Jul 04, 2019
It is very sad how low people have to go these days to make their points. Social media and blogging has set bar very low for what qualifies as news and public discourse.

How can you say something like this in public? For what reason? If you are really pained by what has happened, contribute money for the prosecution of this matter in court or volunteer to be a lawyer on the victims legal team.

And this is only going to get worse with time.

God have mercy.
BusinessRe: CBN Establish Monthly Target For MFB To Improve Financial Inclusion by Johnsghana(m): 9:38pm On Jul 04, 2019
gwinaB:
What they imply is that, the only way to verify accounts opened is when BVN has been captured for those customers. Account opening requires you to have a BVN so it is not a new thing.
I have no issue with BVN being a requirement for opening accounts. The issue is CBN giving MFBs targets on NEW BVN registrations. It's not right.

It's not the MFBs business to have to collect NEW BVN registrants. MFBs are running businesses for profit not for BVN registration. The standard requirement should be to ensure every customer has a BVN and asking MFBs to use their hard earned resources to go sign up new BVN registrants is laziness on CBN's part.

It is CBN's duty to go to every nook and cranny of Nigeria to set up BVN offices and run BVN marketing campaigns on TV, radio, press, etc to encourage people to sign up for BVN.

CBN should not pass on the cost of executing a policy to the MFBs. CBN made the policy, CBN should bear the cost of the policy.

So CBN is now giving banks target?
Like, is this not the height of absurdities?

BVN is a government initiative, why should MFBs be the ones using their money to drive it for CBN?

Well maybe CBN will pay them for it.

Somebody should sue them for this rubbish. Lazy people!
CrimeRe: Lady Accuses Taxify Driver Of Assaulting Her, Police Reacts (Photos) by Johnsghana(m): 7:36pm On Jun 23, 2019
Nigerians we need to be careful about assuming any side until proper verdict is given by a competent court of law. Do you know why it is important? It's better for a thousand criminals to be let go than one Innocent person should be wrongly convicted. This is how fake news thrives and information sharing becomes polarized. Everyone will begin to look for information and news that reinforces their views and opinion.

Many things could have transpired during the trip that we might not be privy to. People, you have to be smart these days. The driver could have just called the police on her or drawn the attention of passers-by to his predicament once it became clear that she didn't have the cash on her. The app has only two payment option - card or cash - if you don't wanna carry cash around, add your card. It's that simple. Transfers are only accepted at the very generous discretion of drivers on the app.

I don't know what your experience with some Ghanaians as you claim buh first let me ask you,how long have you been in Ghana and are you still here in Ghana?
Dude, from earlier posts you can see that I am a person that says the truth irrespective of whose ox will gored.

I have lived in Ghana all my adult working life. My first job out of school in Nigeria got me transferred from the Lagos office to the Accra office. I have gone on to do other jobs in Ghana after that. I just resigned from a company I spent the last 8 years with in Ghana.

If you must know, my Nigerians friend who are professionals and responsible people share similar sentiments about the hatred Ghanaian men have for Nigerians. It's only the women in Ghana that show us some love. I have met Ghanaians who have never had any interaction with Nigerians, yet they have an opinion about Nigerians based on hear say.

Don't worry on a proper thread, we will share this convo extensively.

God bless you ma brother.Ghana is very thankful for this comment. No Ghanaian is calling him/herself a saint and we don't hate Nigeria or Nigerians. We just hate the level of crimes some Nigerians have infested into our peaceful society. We are not rich like any European or Western country and even in Africa,we rank 10th in largest GDP so many African countries are richer buh we are somehow content and appreciate the level of peace in our society.I checked the 2019 Global Peace Index released yesterday.Ghana is number 1 most peaceful and safest in West Africa, number 4 in Africa and number 44 in the world even ahead of the UK and most developed countries.Nigeria ranked number 140 in the world and 30 in Africa. We still don't prevent no West African from entering into our country. Most ECOWAS citizens enter and work in Ghana without even a passport buh simple I'D cards and some open mobile money accounts and local savings accounts without any hassle. They do their petty businesses although it's illegal and reserved for only Ghanaians,we hardly complain and now Kidnapping is introduced in such a society which is foreign to us.And when the suspects are arrested people shout that we hate Nigerians.
Nah Brah, don't play me like that. My comment about Nigerians was directed at Nigerians and not meant to exonerate Ghanaians.

I have very many reservations about Ghanaians and their way of life, but this thread is not meant for that conversation.

FYI: Ghanaians hates Nigerians.
I have been stabbed in the back, discriminated against/ harassed in Ghana many times unnecessarily just because I'm Nigerian. Including Ghanaians that I have been nice to, broke bread with, dashed out money to, etc.

Coming form someone who loves and works in Ghana, Nigerians are pushing Ghanaians to the verge of xenophobia attacks. Let me tell you why.

Nigerians are disrespectful - You come to another man's land and you will not respect their culture and norms.

Nigerians are rude and insensitive - We use harsh words too often and behave like we own the place.

Nigerians are lousy and shameless - It is not like Ghanaians are saints, but they are mostly cautious and less risk averse. Hmmmn! Nigerians? You will see them shouting in public places, engaging in demeaning acts in broad daylight in another man's land.

Nigerian are bullies and too impatient - Get rich quick, play a fast one, ponzi deals, 419, Yahoo, Money rituals, etc are many of the vices we have exported to Ghana. Growing up in Lagos in the 80s we used to think all the prostitutes in Lagos were from Ghana. In 2019, Nigerians have taken over all the whoring activities in Ghana. You will see our girls standing by the road side everywhere in Ghana.

Nigerians need to just calm down and leave Ghana for Ghanaians. If you have no legitimate work to do in Ghana, leave and stop being a nuisance in this small country.
NYSCRe: NYSC To Married Female Corpers: Maiden Name To Be Replaced With Husband Surname by Johnsghana(m): 2:32pm On Jun 12, 2019

I haven’t heard of peace corps and Americorps, but I’ll google to learn more.

I appreciate you pointed out it’s voluntary. Dunno if You have am idea how much difference it will make between having a choice.

And as for the rural you talked about, you justifying that the youths’ life and time should be sacrificedto complement for the inability of the government (esp Local Govt) to perform its duties? Or you dunno that it’s the statutory duty of the Govt to provide basic amenities for its people. That’s the primary reason for tax, oil licensing, etc and not to be shared among greedy politicians?

So in summary, you saying instead of Govt using the money to employ capable hands with the nations income, they should divert the time of their youths to such while they can live large?

Not even talking bout the psychological effect of students having new teachers every session from one Corper to another?

How can consistency be there when the students know they can’t bond with a teacher that will soon leave.. how will they give their all

Education sector which should have been the bedrock of the nation is placed in the hands of people who weren’t trained to be teachers..

Killing 2 birds with one stone: delaying the graduates and destroying the educational system with one blow called NYSC
Dear Mbapaine, as much as I want to align with your assertions, i still beg to differ. One year of your life for the greater good and real life education is not a big deal. Many Westerners fo on what they call gap year , they just spend one year away from school learning about life, culture or travelling the world. This is what broadens the mind and increases your emotional quotient.

My personal experience: I was born and brought up in Lagos, went to primary, secondary school and University in Lagos. If not for NYSC, i will not know any other part of Nigeria. Anytime I read or here people in Lagos or Abuja complain about the quality of life they live, I see them as ungrateful.

NYSC exposed me to different people from other parts of Nigeria and their various culture.
I can say that my NYSC experience prepared for living and working abroad. I'm more tolerant of other people's culture and views. My take - no matter how full or empty the cup is - your perspective is what matters.

FYI: There are poor neighborhoods and rural areas too in the Western world too. The govt cannot fix everything alone and definitely not in one day. We all have a duty to contribute our quota to nation development and the welfare of the less privileged amongst us.

And if they divorce? Nigeria is the only country in the world choosing to waste the time of its youths on this kinda unproductive program..

this program makes us lazy except those who break the rules by ghosting which is an offence.. so it’s either you are productive by commiting an offence or be loyal to the Law and end up being lazy for a year.. *Spits*

NYSC is a good example of saying our Leaders (past/present) are not intellectual enough to lead us.

Majority of blacks are cursed with avarice anyways
Mr. have you ever heard of the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps in the US? Goole it!

These programs are voluntary in the US where patriotism and nationalism is very high, there wouldn't be problems with getting people to sign up.

NYSC is very important to many rural communities in Nigeria, that is the only way the can afford to have a doctor or nurse. Many corps members do a lot of charity work during their service year that impacts many poor lives.
CrimeRe: Nasiru Ali Kozzographa To Sue EFCC For Parading Him As ‘Yahoo Boy’ by Johnsghana(m): 9:52am On Jun 10, 2019
EFCC is becoming the new SARS, very soon they will run out of yahoo boys to arrest and extort and then they will start disturbing innocent boys up and down.

Someone needs to check them before they become another set of nuisance. They should never go make arrests without identifiable operatives or clearly marked official vehicles. This will reduce the tendency for misbehaviour by its officers.

How did we get here?

How did we become a nation of people who cannot express themselves or disagree without resorting to insults and invectives?

Kumuyi is simply saying, talk, but avoid demeaning and debasing public officials. We are setting bad precedents for unborn generations of this nation.

Lagos is now better than Dubai, Capetown, Cairo, Newyork etc because of Tinubu..

Tinubu wife, Pepperito(oshinowo) etc have not use up to 3 terms abi.....
Check your facts Remi Tinubu joined the Senate in 2015.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oluremi_Tinubu
Peperito is a rarity compared to other states.

Also, Lagos might not be better than Capetown and these other cities mentioned but besides Abuja, which other part of Nigeria can be compared to Lagos? In the land of the blind....
PoliticsRe: Sign this Petition to End the Impunity in Lagos! by Johnsghana(m):
TLDR: If you are too young to remember when Tinubu was Governor, he built his base from way back then. Ambode bit the fingers that fed him and Tinubu will not allow Ambode to ruin his political career. The rest is shaku shaku

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't like commenting on social media or the internet because there are so many people who always give opinions about situations they clueless about as if they were professionals. And yet, you people complain about fake news. Also, the inability of many people to have intelligible conversation without resorting to insults and invectives is just off putting.

So, let me tell you internet warriors about real life politics, case in point - Tinubu. By the way, for the purpose of full disclosure - Tinubu is my role model and one day I hope to be like him when I grow up. Tinubu is what you call an enigma and an altruistic leader that is a true Patriot. If you know anything about politics in Nigeria, you will know that all elections are won and lost at ward level. The number of wards you control and deliver will determine the votes you will get come elections day.

Having said that, Tinubu knows every ward leader, ward women leader, ward youth leader and most excos by their first names. They all go to him with their problems especially their constituents needs. Have you ever wonder why they are all so loyal to him? He gives everyone a fair chance based on the potential they demonstrate at local level. I know people who have been following him since the days of Alliance for Democracy (1999) till date. Many young guys have gotten opportunities to get into political office because of him. How many old men do see in the ranks of APC in Lagos? Once you spend two or at most three terms in office, you have to leave for another person to take up that mantle. This way everyone get a chance at it.

Don't stay on the internet and think you know what the pepper seller on the street thinks of politics. Shockingly these illiterates are more active politically than most of you hiding behind your keyboards and keypads. They are the ones that will queue in sun on elections day for hours unend. They are the ones attending rallies and campaigns. They have more skin in the game than me and you, period.

Back to the matter, Tinubu successfully changed the pace for State govt funding and LASG financially in Lagos when he stood up to Obasanjo, who thought he could starve Lagos of funds just to win Lagos for PDP. Imagine Fayose was Lagos Governor then? would Lagos have survived the onslaught of the " Federal Might" that starved him of funds to run his govt? Tinubu's creativity manufactured funds to keep the state running at a time when all other states were looking to FG for majority of their funding needs. Since then, LASG IGR has been on the steady rise.

And those talking about how Tinubu is enriching himself with govt funds and getting greedier by the day, ask Banky W or any of the other internet celebrities contesting for public office after the elections how much they spent and how easy was it for them mobilize people without doling out raw cash in massive quantities. Politics in Nigeria is too expensive, Nigerians are greed and want to have as much as possible for themselves alone without being bothered about the source of the money they are grabbing, hence the rise of Yahoo plus or Money rituals. Not that I am saying it can't be better, how many politicians invest locally? Tinubu is putting whatever is left from the sharing amonst the party faithfuls back into the economy of Lagos. He invests in the biggest companies and embarks on the most ambitious projects, creating several thousands of jobs in Lagos. Ask in your state of origins what your Governor or legislator is doing with the money he is stealing from govt coffers besides stashing them abroad.

We need more politicians like Tinubu to reinvest and circulate the stolen wealth of this country. A time will come when all those assests will fall back into the hands of the govt and will become our collective benefit once again but in the mean time let it generate value for the people through investments that create jobs and money for many others who cannot join the political parties ranks.

About Ambode - my look alike, his political inexperience got the better of him. Tinubu fell out of favor with many of his supporters when he presented him as his choice. And as many of the dissents foretold, Ambode's inability to grasp the complexity of Lagos's massive political machinery became obvious as soon as he assumed office. For APC to remain intact and not loose members to other political parties, Tinubu needed to stand behind the popular demand for Ambode's removal as he was redistributing the common wealth to a few personal friends from his secondary school days in FGC Warri.

Ambode had poor PR skills on top of it all. He didn't know how to juggle the balls of rapporteur and communications with important members of his party. Party stalwarts found it very difficult to get audience with him as the usual excuse was him being busy. Meanwhile pictures of him balling at Quilox flodded the internet, if you were one of these grassroots politicians who is always beisged daily by scores of expectant supporters for the dividends of loyalty, won't you feel foolish and insulted? Please don't confuse your one vote for the hunderds a ward mobilizer can deliver by just pointing his own people in whichever direction he so wishes. These people are in all countries, even in UK and US - they are called fancier names like influencers, union leaders, etc.

In my own opinion and experience, Ambode's biggest failure was not surrounding himself with experienced political advisers. He was very new to politics and as we all do when we lack knowledge about any field, we get help from teachers or senior colleagues. Rather he went about dismantling all the good work Fashola had done. Fashola was the only person that ever had a chance at breaking Tinubu's powerbase in Lagos, everybody liked him for his progressive nature and he had also been a student of the Master all the while he was Tinubu's Chief of staff.

Ambode has committed political suicide in Lagos, except another party takes the reigns in Lagos. Tinubu however, has reinvented himself as the leader that listens to his followers and he will be stronger politically for it in the days ahead.
