mindtricks:If we are scared of guns, then we are not ready to pay the price for better lives. Secession is not going to be free too. We know their houses, their families, their supporters, their offices, etc. We known who where to make these demands. |
StaffofOrayan:For the umpteenth time, you have selective diverted the issues to another sphere entirely due to lack of comprehension of what is being discussed. You conveniently ignored the crux of the matter, yet you veer off into the capabilities of the Nigerian Army, some talk about Scots and Royal Niger Company. Can you compare the level of accountability Scottish MPs have to their people to what is obtainable in your state of origin? Will that change if you secede? You say I've programed to protect an entity that will not work. If may ask by who? To what purpose? BTW, I am not protecting anything, I am only saying that do more than just complain, act. Go to your village or LGA of origin, go and fight the corrupt politicians with their supporters there. This why I said as student activists, we didn't transfer out the school or go start or own university when we were being oppressed by school administrators, we fought back intellectually & physically, we identified their collaborators among students and lecturers, we fought them too. There are many indigent Councilors, LG Chairmen, Members of State Assemblies, Members of House of Reps, Senators, and State Governors (not including commissioners and political appointees to state owned enterprises and agencies) that are being funded by Federal allocations in your place of origin. Mobilize your people to demand accountability from them. If you succeed, then you would have gotten more than enough resources to secede as whatever nation you so wish. We cannot absolve ourselves of any blame as long as we continue to sit back and just complain. The political class is using us against each other. FYI: If Nigeria breaks apart today it will create better sociopolitical & economic opportunities for me. As a Nigerian who lives outside of Nigeria, do you know how reliving it will be for me not to bear the stigma of being Nigerian due to the excesses of members of certain tribes? |
StaffofOrayan:What has anyone done about politicians and their supporters besides just talk about it like you said? It is easy to talk about the symptoms and ignore the cause. On election day, people stand and watch while hoodlums hijack ballot boxes with collaboration from members of their communities. No matter where you go to in Nigeria, this is the same story. Stand and fight to defend your votes. Identify the collaborators and deal with them. When I was a student union activist in Uni, we fought oppression and injustice not by asking to go and start our own university. We fought corrupt school administrators intellectually and physically, even in the face of Police intimidation and harassment. And yes we got results. You can talk from now till tomorrow, our enemies are the same across the country. Politicians will continue to win as long as we keep falling for their politics of tribal sentiments by fighting each other and not them. Wake up! I am not your enemy! I disagree with many of your summation here. I would have loved to respond, but I am tired of this back and forth. |
theDEVILisHERE:This convo has gone into realms I will rather laeve for you and people who share the same sentiments. Enjoy your weekend! |
StaffofOrayan:Read to understand and not to argue! You pick bits and pieces that suit your narrative without giving any substantial thoughts to the other parts of my comments. Nigerians are patriotic, home and abroad. My comment about patriotism was to let you know that it might be difficult for you see the patriotism at home because it looks normal to those at home. USSR was the most useless country, yet the US spent billions to ensure its break up? The current economic and military might of present day Russia was inherited from where? First it was Stockholm Syndrome and now abusive relationships? I don't know where your love for strange/abusive relationships dynamics emanates from. However, you need to stop seeing everything from such convoluted lenses. How am I excusing politicians? When I have said they are your problems and not regional or tribal boundaries. Also, having clearly stated that the anger/frustration should be channeled at politicians and their supporter, I find your summation unrelated to my comments. I give up on you! You just seem to take everything and turn it on its head. On matters as these, reasoning with folks such as you is unnecessary mental gymnastics. To each his own! |
StaffofOrayan: ![]() Did you read my comment? Or you where just looking for an opportunity to use the phrase "Stockholm Syndrome"? Also, you comment is all over the place. If you did read my comment, you will understand that the Nigerian Political Class are the ones I have identified as our enemies and they are the ones we should be fighting and not ourselves. Breaking Nigeria into many parts will not suddenly make the other parts betters when you are still stuck with the same politicans as your tribal leaders. You would have just given them greater control, eg Robert Kigame of Rwanda. Meanwhile, Glgo and read about the history of Russia and learn how the disintegration of USSR was just to the favor of the US and not necessarily for the betterment of the divided states. US would have never tried what the doing currently with Russia if it was still the USSR. FYI: You need to meet Nigerians outside Nigeria that is when you will know how patriotic they are. |
theDEVILisHERE:Hmmmnn! Your response seems to be off the topic, but to each his own. You don't understand global politics yet. Let me ask you a question, why do you think the US is afraid of China, India, Russia? Their population! It is only a matter of time, the countries with the most numerical advantage will dominate the earth. If you understand the politics of population you will know that the Western countries would be very happy if black nations continue to disintegrate along tribal lines. Why was Gaddafi killed? Why was Nkrumah forced out of power by CIA sponsored coupists? Why was Thomas Sankara ousted by French and American supported traitors? Do you know what they all had in common? They were Pan-Africanists - working towards the achievement of the one African nationhood. Blackman you need to stop being small minded and see that greater power lies in unity. |
goaldynman:First of all, your inability to coherently express your points without using degenerative and offensive grammar is a strong indicator of your rather low self esteem. Secondly, since your have decided to strike through my comment, I want to presume that you didn't read my comment, let alone understand it. Kindly read through, understand, and let's have civilized discussions if you are still interested. |
StaffofOrayan:When will you guys realize that your enemy is not the average Hausa/Yoruba/Igbo man? Your real enemies are the politicians and their greedy supporters. Systematically, these politicians have continued to improverisj the minds of Nigerians with tribalism, poor education, unemployment, and many other such evils. They have successfully instigated us against each other and blinded us with systematic disinformation. Considering that I have seen people at different times of my life queue up in the sun for hours on election day just for less than $1 in Ebonyi, Lagos, etc I am sure the playbook for politicians is the same across Nigeria. Let me ask "Biafrans" some questions that require dispassionate assessments. 1. Since 1999, has any state or local govt in South East Nigeria ever been under the leadership of a non-indigene? Can you point out any meaningful development by any one of them? 2. If no, how come the indigenes haven't brought about development to their beloved "Biafra" and development is still a mirage in South East Nigeria like every other part of Nigeria? And you still think the average Hausa/Yoruba man is your problem? 3. Have you ever wondered why all the wars in Africa are started on tribal sentiments? Because that's the easiest way to get support from a large number of people without having to worry about their allegiance. Wake up! Splitting from Nigeria will only empower the already powerful and rich politicians that have been squandering our collective wealth since 1999. Truth is we cannot afford to split this country, the carcass will be easy picking for many foreign power that are currently afraid of the size of our current contraption. Nigeria will stand a fighting chance for its soul the day we all realize who the common enemy is. Remember, your brother is not only your kinsman, your brother is the one whose circumstances are similar to your own. If you can help him get out of his own situation, you would have learnt how to get out of your own situation too. |
philip0906: ![]() Why would it be demolished? What caused it's structural defect? I am sure you are wrong. Since the house wasn't burnt, I am sure it is safe for habitation. |
This morning I read a post here on NL about why Christians shouldn't drink and I couldn't but disagree with the gospel of fear and condemnation being preached through the post. Believers shouldn't be ripping the Word apart even when we disagree on doctrinal issues. Personally, I believe it is not good for the propagation of the gospel. If you disagree with any issue don't attack persons or churches, state you opposing view with as much evidence as possible and leave the rest to the discernment of others. As a responsible hardworking young man, I used to look forward to Friday nights as a time to relax and have some fun with friends and colleagues alike. I have seen and drank almost all forms of alcohol. However, I have taken time to put some things down with regards to why believers should drink or not drink. Inheritance And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Romans 8:17 NLT From the above we can say we are heirs of God, and as such we are potential kings and rulers, since God is the greatest King and Ruler over all things. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, to guzzle wine. Rulers should not crave alcohol. For if they drink, they may forget the law and not give justice to the oppressed. Alcohol is for the dying, and wine for those in bitter distress. Let them drink to forget their poverty and remember their troubles no more. Proverbs 31:4-7 NLT As potential kings and rulers because of our inheritance in Christ and God's Glory, from the above verses we can see what the Bible says about kings and wine. Strife Some would argue that even though the Bible is against gluttony, should we then advocate for people to stop eating? Same thing can be said about wine. You can drink without getting drunk. However, in Rom 16:17 we are encouraged to avoid strife in the church. Does alcohol cause srife among Christians? Yes! Many Christians are against it and believe it's bad. Temple of God Also, your body is the temple of God according to 1Cor 6:19 and we have been instructed to keep it holy and clean. Excessive drinking & eating, lack of exercise, poor mental health, etc destroys the body. As such drinking does not help in achieving a clean body/temple of God. 1Cor 10:31, talks about glorifying God with our bodies through anything we eat or drink. Drinking excessively doesn't glorify God. Tempting others In 1Cor 8:13 believers are told to avoid eating (or drinking) anything that causes your brother (or others) to sin. A believer who has control over his drink habits and would never get drunk might mislead or be a bad example to a struggling unbeliever who is struggling with alcoholism or dipsomania. Avoid Temptation. James 4:7 is clear about avoiding the devil (or temptations} , don't play with fire and not expect to get burnt. How many times have we started the night with a few shots but be end up guzzling bottles of Vodka, Gin & Whiskey by dawn, after which we can no longer be said to be at out best behaviors. Even scientists have proven that your ability to make sound judgments is highly reduced when you're under the influence. I discovered that anytime I went out on Friday night to hang out with the boys, I always ended up in the company of certain kind of people, saying and doing certain things. Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 NLT If we are to be honest with ourselves as believers, where are alcoholic drinks sold mostly? What goes on in those places? At nightclubs, bars, etc, where people of questionable characters who are probably spending illegitimate monies and are frolicking with ladies dressed in skimpy attires, whom they are likely to fornicate or commit adultery with. Other vices usually are not far from such places. Build meaningful relationships with people who do the things you want to achieve. Eg be friends with people who don't drink or smoke. This doesn't mean you should hate drinkers or smokers. Avoid their company till you are strong enough to resist the urge of drinking. Sobriety In US, UK and other western nations, police administer sobriety test on car drivers regularly when they think your ability to drive a car might be impaired or when they think you might be a disturbance to public peace. Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 AMP Let me ask you, is your life not more important and complicated than driving a car? This verse is God's way of telling you that you need to be sober and clear headed to avoid the antics of the devil. How many times have to heard people doing bad things under the influence of alcohol? Someone under the influence of alcohol is an easier tool in the hands of devil. Finally, why do we drink alcohol? To be happy, to celebrate, to forget our worries, to relax, etc. You can achieve all of these without alcohol. Ps 37:4 Says take delight in the Lord. 2 Corinthians 12:10-11, says Christ has taken all of our worries. The more your relationship with God deepens the better you will understand that temporary reliefs can't match being in God. I think I have been able to make my point as I can go on about how alcohol affects families, absenteeism parenting, how it's an imprudent use of your finances, dependency on alcohol, how it can lead to other forms of substance abuse, etc. In my own opinion, if you must drink as a believer, you should do it in private or be sure you are not offending anyone around or being a source of temptation to others around you. Better still, don't drink at all. PS: If you disagree, it's OK. You conviction will come with time. If you are struggling with your faith, be at rest, nobody gets everything right the first time. Just keep searching for answers and keep getting up every time you fall. |
ArticleBeast:If you read her post well, you will understand that she spelt the terms and conditions out for him before they started the relationship and he agreed. He can't change the rules of the game in the middle of the game without being expressly clear about what he wants. He should be honest enough to let her know his true intentions if he knows he can't abide to the agreed T&Cs. He should not use deceit and emotional seduction to get her to change her mind. He needs to be man enough to ask for what he wants. BTW, let us learn to stand for honesty and truth. |
Don't play with fire if you don't want to get burnt. Stop kissing and or cuddling anyone you are not married to. They will only want more as you will fall too one day. This is the only way it can end. Stop being alone with your boyfriend in places where temptation will be uncontrollable, eg bedroom or hotel room. Meet with him in public spaces or in the presence of other people. Go for counseling, attend church activities together, do things that will take both of your minds of sex and rather build your love for each other. Sex is not a proof of love. Sex is an urge that can be satisfied by anybody and not necessarily through love. Don't be deceived! He will get sex from you and still dump you. If he loves you he will respect your wishes. |
Lol! Very soon now US govt will start investigating him. He doesn't need a US company for now until he is able to clean up his act. |
How dare you? You don't know me, yet you say I'm talking nonsense and you have the audacity to call me a fool? It shows the shallowness of your thinking faculties and the kind of background you come from. I am sure a couple of hours of home training and moral instructions would have saved you from disgracing yourself with your uncouth and uncivilized writings. Reading through your profile I can see that you are here on NL to troll and insult as many as possible. Since you cannot make your point without insulting or using invectives, I will not dignify you with a response. Shhooo! Be gone! MumuCountry: |
Anybody that knows anything about Ghana and Ghanaians will agree with me that they are not straightforward. Their response was for theatrics only. Ghana will never be part of any fiat currency union that Nigeria isn't part of. The know the power of our economy and people. Find some of the reasons below. 1. Their biggest local manufacturing firms have to always export to Nigeria 2. Their politicians have to always come to Nigeria for campaign money during elections. 3. Their banks are filled millions of dollars from Nigerian politicians. Nigerian politicians will never use eco or the same currency as these francophone countries without putting certain measures in place to protect their collective wealth. Do you think Nigerian politicians will allow someone in Accra or Abidjan to determine the value of their money? I doubt. |
Not all these people are jobless. Some of them are currently under employed, some are self employed, some are employed by an SME, etc. Most of them just want a govt job that will guarantee them retirement money. Most of these people are looking for jobs that will require minimal accountability from them. They want a job that will give them power and access to oppress other citizens. Think about this, besides security agencies and other lucrative ministries - NDLEA, NIS, ARMY, Police, CBN, NNPC, FIRS, etc - JOBS which other jobs do you see Nigerians come out in large numbers? It's the power, money and lack of accountability that attracts them. Before you tag me, this post doesn't mean that unemployment isn't a reality in Nigeria. |
Teebilion:Maybe ![]() https://www.grammarly.com/blog/learned-learnt/ |
Agboriotejoye:Brah, we cannot look away from the fact that politicians and public officials are going to jail and being prosecuted in record numbers. Of the top of my head, the following people have ongoing cases Fayose Dasuki Gen Bada Abdulrasheed Maina Deziani Olisa Metuh Etc In democracies, court cases don't get resolved easily especially against people that have money to hire good lawyers. It takes time. Eventually, the law will catch up with them. Orji got sometime recently too. Inch by inch, our enemies will eat themselves. We just have to smart enough to know when they are trying to manipulate us. |
Agboriotejoye:Still, let them attack themselves for whatever reasons. APC will leave power someday. They will also be victims to another govt. We cannot allow them to be at peace with each other, terrible things will happen to the masses. |
Agboriotejoye:This must be a joke right? Cos if not. Why did Jonathan & Co also bury things where govt could really find them? We need to stop taking sides with these people. Let them eat other. They are using us against each other with sentiments like this. |
mapet:Yes he did leave trails and wasn't tactful with his dealings. In fact he had been under investigation since 2013. Some of these cases never get to the public as they are used as bargaining chips when necessary by these US agencies. Do you know the number of politicians that have case files in the US? His South African altruistic fiasco was a spanner in the works for some international interests that is why they came after him. The violence in SA has International sponsors as SA is the only black-led country in Africa not at the mercy of the US. He didn't know the rules of the game he dabbled into. Dangote deals in commodities and had been doing so for many years before he came to the spotlight. There are thousands of Nigerians living under the radar with ill-gotten wealth doing inconspicuous businesses and enjoying their lives. The point is, he should have avoided the limelight like a plague. Even if he was caught later, it won't be due to avoidable issues like this. |
The biggest mistake this guy made was coming out to personally announce that his company was going to airlift Nigerians stuck in South Africa during the crisis. If he really wanted to help and wanted to maintain a low profile, He could have let the announcement be done by his company with a strict warning not put his name and also let the govt take the glory for it. How many times do you hear Adenuga making announcements for Glo? It was this singular act that brought his case to the attention of the law enforcement agencies in the US. BTW, why won't these people that have stolen monies learn to do quiet business and shun the spotlight? Why airline business? Why not start by importing consumables and beverages, or go into agriculture, or import electronics and generators? Or import raw materials for factories? Just do something that will not bring you into the spotlight. Better still, buy your planes from China or Europe. The best Ghanaian Airline is run with a fleet of planes from China. Nobody questions the money that goes into China, all they want is money. He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. You cannot use stolen wealth or money to buy goodwill. Be guided! |
Let's have this conversation again in 20 years. We only know how to copy. We never create our own solutions to problems that the world has failed at solving. We like treating the symptoms and ignoring the ailment. They have had this register in many Western nations for many years yet we hear horrific stories about incest, rape and violent harassment. Don't you think this not the solution? Sexual crimes are emotional actions and as such they are psychological problems. Punishment never deters people from committing emotional crimes because when they're committing the emotional crime, they're not thinking rationally. |
You're welcome! This is an example of how to civil conversations online without resorting to degenerative invectives and insults. Bless Up Gee! DonCaxton: |
Leave GEJ out of your desperate political permutations. If he sold out, don't you think it is because there isn't anything better for him in PdP? Stop these media petitions, We need a viable opposition party to keep APC on their toes or even out of power. |
Yes! You have to be between 18 and 31 years. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Future_Awards_Africa&ved=2ahUKEwiWtpHgs4XmAhVKExoKHXzVAfoQFjABegQIDxAG&usg=AOvVaw3L-wmrDzNSBqwQSNqIFbWX DonCaxton: |
Is Segalink under 32? DonCaxton: |
You knew the rules of the game before you signed up. Now are shouting up and down. Elections will soon tell you the scores. |
This African brotherhood is a farce. What AKA did is a reflection of how envious many Africans are of Nigerians and how they're willing to go to any lengths to sabotage Nigerians. Also, these issues was amplified by the Nigerian Media more than the SA media. BTW, which of these artistes will lead a boycott of South African Music video industry? Nigerians needs to stop shooting music videos in SA. Someone should lead this boycott. In fact, the boycott should extend to the likes of MTN, DSTV, etc. |
All these countries treat Nigerians like we are all criminals, yet they rely on us for everything. This is a good way to get them to behave well. |
