FamilyRe: Maternal Relatives Vs Paternal Relatives by JOKYTECH(f): 11:50am On Oct 11, 2011
This is not a matter of influence, it is a known fact that the paternal relatives always feel that they are in control and since the wife(mother) is not their child therefore they can do or say anything to her which psychologically affects the children. But the maternal relatives are always humble, they tend to feel the burden of their sister, the children and the family as a whole right from the beginning.

Ok for now, my paternal side are not very intimate with us (the children) and now I discovered am very close to my maternal aunt's children by making sure they are ok and getting in touch with them from time to time. My aunt confided in me that her husbands people hardly shows concern for their cousins, so one cannot really compare their likeness for the maternal side to that of the paternal side.

Just my view

apocalypse:
What the b.l.e.e.p , I have read very inane and stupifyingly dumb post on this thread. How can you say post ume is done to weed out people with bad character. If you do not know , know now that post ume is done to further test a students intelligence , it was brought about cos students use "machinery" and special centres and the post ume would further ascertain the marks tendered by the student. If a student can score 300 in the ume then he should have no problem attaining a 75% score in the post ume. Saying they will be looking for inappropriate entries is just hogwash and doesn't indicate anything about character.
Dis faceless nairaland sef na wa, some persons jst feel dat they are the most intelligent on earth and they most times use Nairaland to showcase their presumed intelligence by calling people names

Mr/Mrs/Miss, things have changed in this country, post UME is no longer about intelligence but now a measure of elimination or have u not seen a situation in a test whereby the cut off mark is 80% and majority of students still made up to such %, tell me wat the school mgt would now do to get the number of students they want as specified by NUC

@OP, why are the parents' so keen about their child going to CU which have a christian standard attached to it if surely they are true moslems, abeg make them go find Boko haram university abi na their tithe and offering dem take build the school. If I was a moslem, I would really be ashamed to attend a christian school let alone creating publicity dat I was not admitted

Fast-rising highlife musician, Obiajuru Nwozo, popularly known as MC Loph is dead. He died yesterday at Ore on his way to Anambra State in preparation for his traditional marriage, slated for September 17. MC Loph was the driver of the ill-fated-vehicle.

According to his friend and managing director of his former record label, Eastside Records, Obi Mgbako, who confirmed the sad news, the deceased was travelling with his fiancee and elder sister with her child when the incident occurred.

It was gathered that he ran into a bump the impact of which flung the car off the road and out of his control. The vehicle subsequently fell into a ditch. The accident claimed his life and that of his elder sister, Chinwe. His fiancee broke an arm while the child miraculously survived.

Amidst sobs, Mgbako said: “ My boss called to inform me of the unfortunate incident and I asked him to give me the number of the person that called him, which he did. I dialled the number and it was a road safety officer that spoke. He said the condition of Loph was critical but shortly after, Nigga Raw, musician and friend of MC Loph, called to tell me that he was dead.”

“We spoke yesterday but Loph did not mention that he would be travelling. I would have, at least, advised him to get a driver but you know how he does his things. That was how he travelled when he was given the new jeep from his current record label, Morgan Entertainment. What will his aged and hypertensive mother do now?”

When this reporter called Nigga Raw Nwanne, all he could say was: “ My brother, I am just trying to rest now; my phones have been bombarded with calls from all over to confirm whether it was true or not. I am in a moody condition now; I cannot speak now. I just hope this never happened. Please, we will talk tomorrow.”

A call was also made to Flavour of Nabania fame, who did a duet with Loph on the remix of the late king of highlife music, Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe’s Osondi Owendi. His manager picked the call and said Flavour was outside the country for a foreign engagement. Both Loph and Flavour are from the same locality in Anambra State.

His residence at 54, Enitan Street, Aguda, Surulere, was as empty as a graveyard when Daily Sun visited, as only a handful of artistes, friends and fans were seen in front of the block of flats, discussing and awaiting further information on the sad development. His poster was on his locked front door.

The likes of MC Shaggi, MC Shakara, among others, were part of the early callers at Loph’s crib.
Aged 38, the late musician, who hails from Umunze in Anambra State, was the only son and his late elder sister, an only daughter of their parents. This means his hypertensive mother who lost her husband a few years ago, has now lost her only two children.

Mgbako later informed Daily Sun that the husband of Loph’s elder sister was on his way from Ore where he went to identify the body of his wife and in-law and also deposited them at a nearby mortuary.

Loph, which means Lord of Pure Hip-Hop, hit the limelight with his second album, Hands Up, which had his monster hit song, Osondi Owendi.

I feel so sad, may his soul rest in peace

Thanx mate. now I'm abit confused. I listened to her conversation yesterday. She doesn't sound nigerian and she speaks of functioning public utilities in a way I know is not nigerian. For example, 'I went to pick my mum up from the airport and on our way home we took a bus' definitely not nigeria, nothing works to that level in nigeria. So I'm wondering, is she just another import like KAren? undecided
she schooled abroad, but did her service here in Naija and also working wif a radio station here

PoliticsNiger State Gov Again To Buhari - Your Village Not Nigeria by JOKYTECH(op): 11:30am On May 02, 2011
For the second time in a week, the Governor of Niger State, Muazu Babangida Aliyu has lashed out at former head of state and presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), General Muhammadu Buhari reminding him and his supporters that Nigeria is not their village.

“I am emphasizing this fact because of what happened after the presidential election. Many of us are so myopic that we think our village is Nigeria. No, we’re a part and never can a part be a whole. Your village is not Nigeria. Your village is a part of Nigeria. So, if somebody wins or loses election in your village, that does not mean he has lost election in the country,” Aliyu said at the celebration of the 2011 Workers’ Day in Minna.

According to him, those who perpetrated the post presidential election violence were myopic and refused to go beyond the variables that divide the nation, stressing that some people thought that the winning of a particular part of the nation meant victory in the whole country for any candidate in an election.
Aliyu posited that what happened in any part of the country cannot be used to represent the whole nation.

http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/may/02/national-02-05-2011-001.html
He said the people should learn to live beyond ethnic, religious and regional attachments to appreciate the nation’s diversity.

“It is important that when we look at issues we look at it in relation to the whole nation in Niger State. It is important that whenever we talk we remember that we have a population of four million people and each of them has the right of the government and the people of this state. “Everyone now knows that before you win election you must go beyond your village, your state, region and religion. You know that we are a nation united,” he said.

Governor Aliyu restated that there was no going back in the resolve of his government to implement the new minimum wage for workers in the state. He maintained that the payment of workers bonus for 2011 will depend on the resources available to the government. The Governor urged civil servants to expose corrupt practices in their offices and avoid wastages to complement government efforts in catering for their welfare.

He emphasised that outstanding workers will always be rewarded to serve as example to others.

Thank u very much, at least someone has spoken ma mind. I have been saying since the beginning of this preparation that because of the size of this country, no one INEC chairman can conduct a FREE and at thesame time FAIR election in Nigeria

The country is too large for one man to handle, the problem is not only corruption in Nigeria but also population
