DICKtator: Lucky you!!! Perhaps if you had gone to where most of these almajiris are trained and saw how they are flogged and slapped for missing certain parts of their teachings, you would appreciate the " scratches"you got from your secondary school!!
At least I will know I'm being punished for neglecting my primary duty of being there in the first place. Instead I was being punished for being a muslim and refusing worship like a christian. My point is, it still does not mean I should now conclude that christians are violent. The action of a single muslim or a group of muslims should not call for generalisation so also, The action of a single christian or a group of christians should not call for generalisation. That is their own understanding or their own interpretation of the word of God after all, christians too have different denominations. I've only had two muslims as close friends in my life all the rest are christians. |

donphilopus: APC vs PDP.
New research conducted by a media house in Abuja has really shown why majority of Nigeria populace run after a progressive party called APC.
This is the list of 10 best performing Governors in Nigeria, APC has 8 and PDP 2. Here is the list.
(1) Ogbeni Abdulrauf Adesoji Aregbesola in the State of Osun. Party: APC. (2) Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) of Lagos State. Party: APC (3) Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State. Party: APC. (4) Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio of Akwa-Ibom State. Party: PDP. (5) Comrade Adams Aliyu Eric Oshiomole of Edo State. Party: APC. (6) Mr Chibuike Rotimi Amechi of Rivers State. Party: APC. [s](7) DR. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State. Party: PDP.[/s] ( Senator Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State. Party: APC. (9)Sullivan chime of Enugu State. Party: PDP (10) Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto State. Party: APC. (11) Lest I forget, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha of Imo State. Party: APC.
I challenge anybody to void this list with a tangible reason. Common sense revolution has come to stay. APC: Change Jonathan.
#SAI APC #SAI Buhari Change: Change Jonathan! Dr Olusegun Mimiko only persormed in his first tenor not this second term. You can ask anyone based in Ondo state or conduct a personal survey of Ondo state indigenes. |

AjFive: As a Nigerian, it pains me a lot to write this for as much as I want to partake and vote, the government is doing nothing to encourage me. They make me, my friends and folks men to feel our vote are nothing, and it wouldn't count - which obviously is the truth.
So in my depressed state, I've decided to pen down the major reasons why we wouldn't partake in any of the elections come 2015.
1. PATHETIC REGISTRATION SYSTEM.
2. LACK OF SECURITY.
3. CORRUPT OFFICIALS.
4. CORRUPT PARTY OFFICIALS.
5. BOKO-HARAM.
Aj_Five What you have is insecurity about the govt and the whole election issue. This shouldn't be and is shouldn't discourage you from voting. We have a CSO that is supposed to take care of this and make sure it is done and if it is not being done the way you like or to ur satisfaction you use your vote whether you believe in the system or not. Keep trying until you see changes. You need something from God, you pray even when you're not sure it will be answered now or even when it will be answered. You don't give up instead, you intensify your prayer hoping things change and u don't stop until u see changes. |

Natasha2: to ask someone out means inviting them to go out with you. Thats how people mistake flirt to mean someone that sleeps around. Its the intention that gives the meaning the. Generally if I ask you out does not mean I want to date you. It could mean I want to try you out to see if we can be compatible and it could mean I just want a female companiout to hang out with and chat. While on the outing, I might get interested in you (if I wasn't before) and convert it to a date and my intention might be a date from the outset which I won't tell you so you don't get to object. The whole idea is just to get the woman unawares, leaving no room for preparation thereby making the date look natural. BTW on ur profile pic which one is u? Truckpusher: I'm amazed too. Yorubas are usually known to have an independent mind in Nigerian politics, but how on earth a brown toothed Gambari puppet simply mesmerized them into oblivion while stealing them blind is something that calls for an urgent reawakening of a people that are known to have said 'no' to oppression, highhandedness and the ugly born-to-rule-mentality of the Northern Islamaofascist oligarchy. If anyone doubts me ,they should ask Abacha about his time as a military dictator, let him explain to you how the Yorubas made him a living demon both home and abroad until he died - Abacha was so demonized in such a manner to an extent that he unwillingly succumbed to making a democratic change before death snatched him.But nowadays what we are seeing is appalling as some of these sophisticated people with sophisticated politics are now lining up and plotting to return power at all cost to the Gambaris who ensured that the best and the freest and fair election won by a man that was not only loved by the Yorubas but every other region except for the self acclaimed owners of Nigeria was annulled, himself killed alongside with his wife. The truth is that the real sons and daughters of Odua knew what to do when the time comes and I'm glad we have a lot them here. Thank you for the eulogy you just gave the Yoruba race. Am glad you know Yorubas are always independent (this is what most tribes fail to realise about we Yorubas) but Independence comes with a price you must pay. South africans paid with their lives through anti-apartheid struggle and they eventually got it, US paid through the American Revolutionary War with so many people sacrificing their lives, we Yorubas paid by sacrificing Mulikat Akande for us to be able to think independently as we are doing presently without fear or favour. Don't get it twisted my broda when you see some Yoruba folks drumming the beat of support for Jonathan (someone that has failed not only the Yorubas but also the entire Nation at large including his tribesmen), even the bible confirmed it that out of every 12 there must be a Judas. |
Politics › Re: I Regret Not Having A Yoruba As Speaker. Jonathan by jomoh: 10:28am On Nov 29, 2014 |
PhockPhockMan: The only reason I respect Tinubu is the way he masterfully brainwashed some Yoruba youths into believing that their problems is Jonathan instead of him. A powerful speakership Jonathan gave yorubas, Tinubu connived and threw it away for selfish reasons. No matter how long a night last, their must be day break. We the Yorubas are not fools, we know when a gift is given in good faith and when it has a hidden message in it. Tinubu saw this coming and was quick to estimate the collateral damage and subsequently sacrifice the she-Lamb (Mulikat Akande) for the independence of the Yoruba race. This is because even the ones we had never benefited us just because they were PDP. Now for that singular act of supporting Tambuwal, we now have the support of the North west. |

himkers: Because it is the epicentre of APC thuggery If you know nothing about Oyo state then its will be better for you not to comment at all rather than comment with a senseless sentiment. PDP ruled Oyo state for 8years between 2003/2011 during which every one in the state capital lived in fear of their lives and property. Thuggery reigned supreme like never before in any part of the country. Police men were no match for Ibadan thugs during those times even Obasanjo the ex president was stoned twice in Ibadan. Countless assassination, kidnaps, intimidation. Nobody had the gut to move around Iwo road anytime from 7pm-6am. The President of the Nigerian Medical students was killed in Iwo road in the early hours of the morning while just passing through the area. All these and many more during the eight years of PDP. APC came into power in 2011 and ever since, the state had been peaceful. No case of thuggery or violence was recorded through the past period of APC's reign until now that the Election is near. It is obvious to every sensible human being that PDP is the devil hiding in the dark to throw stones into the light. Even their own convention was not spared of controversy. A situation started by one of their own chieftain in the person of the former state governor Alao Akala. |

A typical hausa illiterate of today can speak at least creole english no matter how unrefined it may sound. In which part of my statement did you read or had the impression that I claim Hausas of today can't read in english. A lot of people lack comprehension and logic skills. The man was talking about why the arabic inscription was there in the first place. This means he was talking about some 45 to 50 years ago not hausas of today. Were you thought tenses in primary school? Can't you differentiate between present and past tense? Obviously the man talked in past tense to give reason why the inscription was there in the first place which was clearly not for religious reason. So I ask again. Why bring religion into this? Even the @OP is ignorant and does not know the difference between arabic and islamic. If you see a bible written in Arabic, would you say its islamic bible? Everything written in arabic doesn't necessarily become islamic. This are the things the Mods are supposed to have known and corrected before putting the topic on the front page thereby causing religious confusion and e-conflict. Seun I believe your mods should know this. |

aljharem: I respectfully disagree with you sir.
Arabic is not our language so is English but our official language is English. Just like Niger, their official language is French.
Now how many people can read Arabic ? Lets be honest with ourselves, the only Arabic likes of us can recognise are the ones written in the Quran not taking it to the extent of writing it on our money.
In Nigeria, we need to take different groups along, the Christians are not comfortable with the Arabic inscription on the Note. Why not just remove it and write in Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and English. This why we can convert more Christians to Muslims just as Prophet Mohammed said (S.A.W) Ignorance kills faster than bullets. Before you can read in Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba you must be familiar with english alphabets and be able to read english. Most Hausas were educated in Arabic as at the time those currencies were introduced while southerners were educated in English hence the use of Arabic and English. The article is clear enough "The Ajami writing was purposely meant to enable the Hausas and other tribes that had learnt Arabic long before English read the currency. As English came to Nigeria through the south, so Arabic came to Nigeria through the north."This government along with has succeeded so much in dividing this country along religious line to the extent that we senselessly read religious meanings to what ordinarily does not have anything to do with religion. Almost everyone is now a religious bigot. If you had read the article with a clear 'un-bigotic' mind, you would have noticed the bolded statement. Same with most people that commented before you. You even went as far as quoting a Prophet wrongly. Things like this that people say without much thought are what causes most religious uprising. "My people perish for lack of knowledge" |

I acknowledge the need for us to speak in one voice by adopting General Muhammadu Buhari in unison. This is our way of showing the General that we are behind him, and also to show the larger APC body where we stand in the December 10 Presidential Primaries.
In view of the above,

I appeal to distinguished members of Nairaland Progressives to show their support and endorse the amiable General. Thank you.
