I doubt you have a brain functional enough to do a research. So I'll help you out. Consider it a charity to the less privileged.

Here is what the constitution says

Chapter 6. Part 1. Section 147. Ministers of federal Government

(1) There shall be such offices of Ministers of the Government of the Federation as may be established by the President. (May not must)

(2) Any appointment to the office of Minister of the Government of the Federation shall, if the nomination of any person to such office is confirmed by the Senate, be made by the President.

(3) Any appointment under subsection (2) of this section by the President shall be in conformity with the provisions of section 14(3) of this Constitution:- provided that in giving effect to the provisions aforesaid the President shall appoint at least one Minister from each State, who shall be an indigene of such State.

(4) Where a member of the National Assembly or of a House of Assembly is appointed as Minister of the Government of the Federation, he shall be deemed to have resigned his membership of the National Assembly or of the House of Assembly on his taking the oath of office as Minister.

(5) No person shall be appointed as a Minister of the Government of the Federation unless he is qualified for election as a member of the House of Representatives.

(6) An appointment to any of the offices aforesaid shall be deemed to have been made where no return has been received from the Senate within twenty-one working days of the receipt of nomination by the Senate.

Don't say what you don't know or what you are not sure of in a public forum.

IT IS COMPULSORY THAT BUHARI MUST APPOINT AT LEAST 36 MINISTERS, ONE PER STATE OF THE FEDERATION.

See the No.6: if the Senate does nothing on the list within 21days, then the people would become automatic ministers.

Remember it is 5 working days already, next week tuesday will make it 10.

The truth is that our voices are not even heard, the worst we can do is
to make noise on nairaland and other social medias and at the end of the day, they will negotiate, in fact, they have started already because Ita Enang has reached out to Akpabio
Reaching out to the opposition is a normal politics that has to be played.

The opposition could use some very minute excuse(not even remotely close to corruption eg little misunderstanding on the CV can be used as an excuse) to disqualify the candidates but the Presidency has to guide against such by reaching out to them.

These is different from the Senators demanding that the President submits the full list which is not provided in the constitution.

There is no real saint in the arms of government but the senators should not hold the country to ransom because of their corrupt deeds they fear it could be used to hunt them.

Because there's no saint in the three arms does not mean we won't fight corruption.

Does not mean they would now hold us to ransom with illegal and unconstitutional claim that the president must submit a complete list.

If they have a grouse with the presidency for any reason, let them disqualify anyone on the list that has even the tiniest spot on his/her CV/past. That is the only constitutional right they have.

Has he not done his constitutional duty by submitting the list. Where is it stated in the constitution that he must submit a complete list before screening.

Once he has done his constitutional duty, let the Senators do theirs instead of coming up with frivolous excuse that is foreign to the Nigerian constitution and if they refuse to do so, then let the country continue as it is without ministers.

Nigerians will judge who has refused to do its constitutional job, the President or the Senate.

Yes he needs the cabinet but no where in the constitution is it stated that he must have ministers or that the list must complete before screening. It is Nigerians that will suffer it.

Unless we want to be unfair to the man.

1. There is no time frame for submission of ministers list.

2. He has submitted the list which is his constitutional duty if he deems it necessary to have ministers.

Buhari has done his duty within the provision of the constitution. What the senators are asking for has not place in the constitution. As a matter of fact the constitution is silent on it and there's no constitution in the world that compels the President of its country to submit all his ministers before it can be screened in the parliament. Even Obama submits his ministers in bits.

These people are just trying to frustrate the presidency because of the corruption mantra that most of them may fall victim.

If they like, they can disqualify the candidates but they have no right to compel the President to submit a complete list or make him appear before the senate.

If it is an impeachable offence they shouldve impeached him since because he has no minister presently.

But the constitution does not make it compulsory that he appoints ministers.

What are they giving and taking. Everybody knows the only thing the Senators wants is for the Executive to drop corruption charges against its members. Is that a fair deal on the country.

Sometimes I wonder how some people think. I'm trying hard to refrain myself from using offensive words on you right now.

Are you justifying the Senators silly claims. Where in the constitution does it state that 36Ministers must complete before screening can start. If you cannot show us then shut the hell up instead of making yourself look unintelligent.

Kachukwu is the gmd of NNPC and is also a ministerial nominee from delta state. Does that mean that Kachukwu will earn double salaries as gmd and minister? Why will buhari nominate one person to occupy two offices? I see this as a deliberate act to deny delta state of having another qualified person from becoming a minister.
Oga stop all these. Its not good for your health.

It seems Buhari has yet to learn the true Power of Presidency.

The constitution does not support appointing ministers by batch. They should show us where it is written that all ministers must be appointed once. Bunch of thieves.

Just ignore them and start using Permanent Secretaries in place of Ministers let their deputies act as the perm sec. Appoint trusted hands in the civil service as perm secs and communicate your economic policies to them
. Its not mandatory that you must have ministers.

When the whole country gets tired of the Senators we will demand for the quick confirmation.

Asking the president to appear in the Red chambers for screening is already an insult on the sit of Nigerian presidency, a rape of our electoral law that empowers an elected Nigerian to the presidency, and a big slap on the face of over 15million Nigerian voters that voted him in.

If there's anything like that in democracy, I will recommend the senators that postulated this should be arrested for blasphemy against the President and the Nigerian constitution that gives the president the power to head any sector of the economy.

I understand that you know him personally but "people change" is the main problem.

1. Everyone has friends they used to trust very well but due to distance and time you don't know what they've been up to. Until you see them in person to assess the kind of person they are lately, their present life style matters a lot. That is why I asked if you've met one on one lately.

2. Are you sure he really works with shell and not a contract staff, labourer or security. Be sure of his position in the organisation.

3. Even if its been a long time, you can still take the risk. Through your conversation, you can still determine little of what he is capable of. As in, is he really living comfortable to be able to give 40k or more than? If truly he can afford such and you've confirmed the existence and price of the course then you can take the risk and go ahead but don't stake too much on it and always be prepared for disappointment. If he now fvcks up then just accept it as what God has ordained. If you refuse to take the risk and it turns out to be true, you might live to regret the missed opportunity for life but what you loose if it turns out false will only be for a short time(maximum 6months)

Fellow Nairalanders, I am the op of the thread on "How have you been surviving without a job?"
I have a friend who works with Shell, hes actually a childhood friend we grew up together. We have been apart for long cos he works in Warri while I reside in Lagos.
Recently we hooked up again via Facebook and we got talking on phone about life and all. Told him my jobless situation and he got very concerned about my plight. He promised to do something about it cos I was very open with him, didn't hide or form. He requested for my CV which I quickly edited, refined and wired to his email. He said he would submit it to some senior people in Shell.

About a month later he called me and told me something has come up. That there is 6 a year contract job that will be coming up in October and that I need to acquire a particular training (HUET) without which I can't work in the upstream. He said its normally free but the man in charge of recruiting people said since am just a referral, I have to pay for the training. He said the training is 65k which I confirmed and its true.

Now he promised to pay part of the training fee (40k) for me and said I should take care of the remainder.
I trust this guy (he is my very good friend from same community) but you know people can change suddenly.

I just need advice from people who know about this kind of stuff, if its possible or not. Its small money (25k) but I wouldn't want to be scammed off the little money am surviving with as am currently managing myself. I don't even have the money now but I can run round and get it.
He told me they are waiting for Buhari to announce his cabinet before the project starts and that he will call me.

Please advice me should I give it a shot?

davide470 uboma lalasticlala
First have you met him one-on-one to be able to assess him physically in other to know what he is capable of. If truly he works with shell and his position in shell.

If all you do is to chat online then your case no be here o. You're now different from the Oyinbo wey Yahoo boys they nack Maga.

If you've met him one on one, then I can say you should go ahead but still, life is a risk calculate your risk since you've confirmed the amount and the course. One thing I always think in this situation is that the outcome will outweigh the cost while also not putting too much on the outcome or thinking to much about it.

Best of luck bro.

DEAR JOMOH.....

I Like Reviewing the past.....

CBN has WASTED DOLLARS trying to control the Naira....... Months later CBN is still plummeting the Foreign Reserves and yet.... I just converted euros @ N262/€1.....

The Best Antidote as I said earlier is for the Naira to seek its true value

My broda even though I've forgotten most of our conversation, I've not forgotten what I stood for. There can be nothing like "finding true value" if there is no policy protecting the economy because we still have a very fragile, highly volatile (very elastic) economy.

First let me ask you where you got you euro from. The bank or the BDC? Expecting your answer.
I am pretty sure you got it from the BDC(mallams). What do you need foreign currency for that you cannot get it from the bank at a more favourable price. If the currency is made to be easily available to anyone through the bank, no one will patronise the BDC but because you go to banks and they refer you to the BDC. The BDC sees that you have no choice than to come to them, they increase the price.

BTW am not against the dollar or any foreign currency to take its normal course am only against it flooding my country to the point that everyone now prefer it to our country's currency because it is stronger and more stable.

What is dollar doing in circulation in our economy when it is not our currency. If we are going to have dollars in our system at all, let it either be only in electronic form or easily accessible through the banks so that people will have the choice to either choose fromm the cheaper one from the bank or the expensive one from the BDC.

Let there be restrictions on the amount of dollar that can be withdrawn in a day like it is on the Naira. This is to curb the amount of dollar a single person can have in his hands and also curb hoarding of the currency.

Let there be a maximum amount of dollar you can have in your account for a period of time. This will curb the hoarding of the currency to make it scarce and expensive.

There's a limit to the amount of dollar Nigeria can make in a day. There is no limit to the amount of dollar that can be withdrawn. The more dollars in peoples hands, the more they hoard and when the FG, CBN, Banks is short of dollar to sell to genuine business men, they will have no choice but to fall back to the people hoarding it who will then sell at a very high amount.

Presently the CBN is pushing out the dollar to flood the economy so that there will be more than enough in the economy thereby making it cheap but our porous borders and corrupt customs are frustrating the process. This is what the CBN failed to put into consideration before putting up their "no deposit" policy.

These is my own opinion but it is subject to argument which could be superior than mine.
