Politics › Re: Should CBN Print More Money To Aid Our Dwindling Economy? by jomoh: 11:39pm On Oct 31, 2015
bnovative:
It's good u have to break it down to the simplest form, but i doubt if majority of these youths will still understand. They could as well tell nigeria not to engage in any trade, since we can conveniently print the cash we need.
At first I didn't know where to start from cos its obvious he know little about economics of a nation but I still salute his courage for coming out to ask instead of arguing blindly and blaming the government.

A lot of people like him who might not even be young still hold the believe that CBN can just print the money we need anytime we need it.

Am sure he is now enlightened a little even if he has not grabbed the whole thing, he would know henceforth that its not possible to just print money whenever the country is broke.

He who asks is only a fool for the moment but he who keeps quiet remains a fool forever.

Enlighten me more. Who are people that would demand more due to false impression.? We Nigerian? How?
Since the money is said to create something like infrastructure.
First if it is going to be used to create infrastructure, its is going to have to come from somewhere. Crude sales or whatever the government is selling but it is not there.

Simply put. "Nemo quod non abet" you cannot give what you don't have. If Nigeria is not making the money, they cannot give it.

The federal government only prints money for the masses through banks they don't actually used the printed naira. They only use virtual currency which is dollars and if you don't make the dollars, you cannot change it to Naira.

Also if the FG decides to print Naira, it will not have any positive effect on the economy. The FG only pays contractors from the money it has made from different revenue generating agencies. All these physical naira notes we spent are just physical representation of what we have in bank. The FG won't pay by cash, they will only pay through bank account and when you don't have anything in your account, the physical naira note will be useless.

I just want to know if it is right for our Central bank to print more monies in order to heal our wounded economy..

We are deficit infrastructural. I think it won't be a bad idea if there is a special fund created by CBN to build roads, improve power, improve health care, and create more industries..

I heard most countries at some point in time had to resort to this....

Seasoned economics in the House, I need your contributions..
Our dwindling economy is not due to lack of currency in the economy but lack of products to bring in money from outside.

You cannot use Naira to purchase things from international market. For that you need dollars and you can't get dollars unless you have something to sell in exchange for the dollar.

So if you print more Naira currency, it would create a false impression that the country is ok and people will demand more and be ready to pay higher price for the little product that we have in our economy thereby resulting in a demand pull inflation.

MTN should be used as a scape goat to warn other companies that intend to enter the Nigerian market that it is not business as usual.

DSTV should be on queue for disobeying a court order.

If the security effect of what MTN did is fully considered, no one will ever pity MTN. It is even enough for their license to be revoked.

Think about the unregistered sims Boko Haram members are using, the ones kidnappers are using and think of what they've cost this country.

The fine must be paid in full no reduction.

They say Fasola was too harsh, now they see why he was harsh.
Politics › Rebrand Or Face Extinction, APC Tells PDP by jomoh(op): 7:40pm On Oct 30, 2015
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the communique issued by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caucus on the political developments in the nation.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed

The party said the communique is a rehash of the opposition party’s infantile whining which will not save it from going down unless it re-brands most urgently.

“It is time for the PDP to take a long, hard look at itself in the mirror and change everything that is ugly about the party, instead of wasting its energy and time on irrelevancies,” the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Friday, October 30 by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

The APC said the PDP cannot continue to do things in its trademark old, crooked ways and expect a different result.

“The days of winning elections with the aid of slush funds, brigandage, deceit and rigging are gone forever, hence the PDP must return to the drawing board to fashion out decent and empirical ways of repackaging and selling itself to Nigerians, just like the opposition did when they decided to come together.

“The PDP just doesn’t get it, despite being the architect of its own fall from power,” the APC said.

The party said the PDP’s ceaseless and ill-advised attack on the judiciary, now its favourite whipping boy, the endless put-down of government agencies and the demonization of everyone but itself will fetch the party nothing but political grief.

“Instead of a blanket and unsubstantiated accusation against the judiciary over the election petition tribunal rulings in Rivers and Akwa Ibom, the PDP would have shown itself to be a serious party if it had provided statistics on how many of the cases filed at the various election petition tribunals nationwide, after the 2015 elections, have so far been decided in favour of the PDP and the APC, so that
Nigerians can see whether the PDP has not won any single petition or whether all the cases have been won by the APC.

“The PDP has forgotten that the same judiciary that it is willfully castigating today had decided many election petitions in favour of the party and against the APC, whether at the Governorship, National Assembly or State Assembly levels, and the ruling party has not opted to bring the whole house crashing down on everyone just because of that.

“Going down the memory lane, when the PDP took itself to court in 2007 over the Governorship election in Rivers, the same judiciary that has now become an apparition to the PDP awarded the Governorship to a candidate who never even featured on the ballot because the party crookedly substituted his name. Then, the PDP did not see the judiciary as being used by the then PDP administration, neither did the opposition castigate the judiciary,” the party said.

The APC admonished the PDP to stop yowling and engage in strategic thinking that could propel the party forward, rather than continue to be nostalgic about its past, which the party said is neither dignifying nor enlivening.

“The 16 years of the PDP – which the party has continued to shamelessly celebrate – are nothing to celebrate, either for the impunity that characterized the party’s governance, the massive looting of the national treasury that is still being assessed or the bastardization of all the values that the nation holds dear.

”Thankfully, President Muhammadu Buhari has brought sanity to governance even as the PDP has continued to try to distract him with their endless wailing.

“Our parting word for the PDP: Stop throwing juvenile tantrums against everyone, especially the judiciary. Stop wasting your energy on frivolous accusations. Learn how to communicate your thoughts to Nigerians in a more civilized way and put your shoulder to the wheel if you want to reincarnate as a force to be reckoned with in our country’s political firmament,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, the party has expressed satisfaction at the manner at which the Senate conducted both the screening and the confirmation of President Buahri’s ministerial nominees.

You keep saying it that you have no idea she was dead yet you're criticising the article when it was clearly written in the article not once but twice that the woman is late (once in the topic and once in the body of the article). Did you read the article at all?

From your responses its clearly shown that you're taking your frustrations out on the op. If truly you're not taking out your frustration on him then it won't harm you to simply ignore whatever "perceived insult" you may have seen.

You're not the only lady on Nairaland to have read it but your response shows you're the only one frustrated by what you're presently going through.

Deal with your issues and do Nairaland a favour by excusing us from the transfer of aggression.

[b]You see the Man on the right hand side of this picture... Never pick a fight with him, you will lose If you join him, you will be a winner, if you oppose him, he will destroy you.

Many have tried. Former Governors Peter Odili and Celestine Omehia and the then seemingly powerful PDP faction tried and failed. Former President Goodluck Jonathan tried and failed as well. Honorable Evans Bipi and Honorable Ihunwo as well tried and failed.. CP Mbu of the Nigerian Police force also tried and failed. The One they call Mama Peace also tried and has failed. Akpabio has tried as well in the Senate and has failed.

This Man is unstoppable. The Hand of the God's are strong in his life.

He is the Slayer of Wailers. The Lion of the tribe of Ubima, The King of the Niger Delta, A one man Army. What he sets his mind to he achieves.

Rivers State would be liberated from the shackles of mediocrity and take its rightful place with the likes of Lagos and Abuja as one of the Top Cities in the Nation.

God Bless Rt. Hon. ROTIMI Chibuike Amaechi..

BTW we settle disputes like intelligent gentlemen, like human being is supposed to as against animals not with the barrel of gun cos we value life so much. That was my set. The experience then wasn't pleasant. Extremely hot weather and scarcity of water. We had to depend on water fetched by villagers from streams. Poor sanitary facilities; you have to do 'shot put'. In fact my first week was like hell but I later readjusted to cope with the conditions.

The death of that corps member was a disaster. He was attacked by the snake same day he arrived camp. I believe they've been fumigating the environment regularly since that incidence. Like you said, prospective corps members should ensure they go around with their jungle boots on at nights and when they want to enter the bush for 'shot put'. Yikpata snakes are deadly.
I came in batch b after you guys. We were told of the story. Although they attempted to paint the story as if the guy was being followed from village. Claiming that he stayed about 5days in the hospital before eventually dying. We also killed a snake too in out set despite the fumigation.

LOL. "Baby mamas". I never really liked the guy. I was one of the corps members that worked for INEC during his election. I tried my best to convince some of those people not to vote for him but saraki and his family has hypnotised those people. They dont have a mind of their own. Even a king doesnt have his own mind.

Whatever happened to the hostels. Yikpata used to have one of the best hostels of all camps in nigeria. That obviously is the hall that was completed atfer my camping days there.

That camp it a real camp. Located in a real jungle away from civilisation.

It had hostels, classrooms, hall, admin building, staff quarters, man'o war village and a field. It is a well planned camp but poorly managed.

The only problem of the camp was water. Despite its close proximity to river niger. We bathed with pure water.

We called people staying in classrooms ecomog
