Anyway this is a good one, let him clear himself because under the last administration Stealing was NOT corruption. Truth be told I saw these equipments when they were being moved around the country except the jets am not sure if I saw it. Some around Ikire in Osun state and some along Lagos Ibadan Express way. I think they were being taken to Abuja or to the north. It was strategically done so that the aircraft carrying them would land in Lagos and moved br by road to its destination so that people could see them instead of being flown to Abuja or the nearest International airport close to the war zone. One thing I can't vouch for is if it was released for use. |
Family › Re: How Do You Control A Rebellious Teenager? by jomoh: 2:17pm On Aug 06, 2015 |
xynerise: Going through the developmental stages in life, some teens tend to take a wrong detour in life. Many teens are becoming rebellious to their parents and causing disunity in the family. Setting their own rules in the house and disrespecting anybody who tries to stop them from doing what they wish to do.
"Spare the rod and spoil the child". Does this also applies to teenagers? I guess not. What other psychological ways can we correct this rebellion? If after much advise and talks he/she still refuse to change, send him/her to a Military academy or a juvenile home. Instruct them that its strictly for correction. Or Better still, identify what stimulates his behaviour and send him to a place where he will get a mixture of seriousness and very little of what stimulates him. When he finds out that the new environment is not up to his standards and they are not willing to go all the way with him, he'll most likely change. Note that the place you'll sent him/her to must be a place he/she won't be free to do anyhow but they must not be on his/her case all the time. Though it is by the grace of God that he/she would change because teenagers don't know how to think and don't have time reason over what they are told. They simply act randomly most times. xynerise: Against his or her wish? Teenagers don't really know what's best for them. They act on impulse and if/when the impulse is not set right early enough it becomes an habit that will be very hard to control. |

shegsky: But why is it that only girls are asked to keep their virginity? What about us men, eh? I have read a lot of posts and comments that talk about girls keeping their virginity, and some guys even insult those that are not virgins.
But my question is this: Is it only girls that are meant to keep their virginity?
What about guys? And again how will a lady be able to keep her virginity when guys are always asking for sex then turn around and insult her for losing it? It is not only women that are expected to be pure, guys should be pure as well. You want a lady to be pure, yet, you won't stop asking for sex. If she still refuses, you try to make her weak in her defence. Yet, you will come online or elsewhere and shout about girls keeping their virginity until marriage.. Are we immune to virginity?
Let’s stop asking ladies out, and even when they accept to date us, don't ask them for sex.
Help them to keep their virginity until marriage and stop putting the whole virginity and purity struggle on them alone!
Just my humble opinion though.
Thanks! A guy can only keep his dickinity and not virginity. As long as there's no word like Dickinity, then it is not required. |

If we really expect a change in the handling of the state of our affairs we also have to change our attitude and relationship with them. The PHD syndrome has to stop so as to allow space for a pragmatic relationship with the ruling class. Only constructive criticism should be encouraged not character assassination and acts of calumny Thank you for your correction. I must let you know there's nothing i look forward to than that but you cant help but respond in such manner sometimes, especially when you see someone defending an indictment of which everyone knows the expected result. Its time for us to all always try and support what is good instead of defending the bad in the name of sentiments. when we form one voice against this so called politicians irrespective of our political, religious or ethnic affinity then these politicians, law enforcers and law interpreters would know what is expected of them from the masses. On the other hand if we allow personal sentiments to becloud our judgement, these people will always find succor in the knowledge that some section of the masses will always blindly support their actions either legal or not. |

hinwazaka: Such is uncalled for. Just make your point in a pragmatic manner. The fact is that this is a case of ethics. Whoever submitted the petition was wrong and should have resulted to dialogue than taking this to an external party. At the end of the day this matter will be settled politically and that is the fact There's no civil way to handle a criminal. In a sane clime, a criminal is as guilty as the person aiding and abetting the crime. BTW I hate to sound tribalistic but why do Igbo people seem to prefer a chaotic environment to a peaceful crime free atmosphere. An atmosphere full of illegality, impunity and criminality. |
Business › Re: Your Dormant Bank Account Could Put You In Trouble by jomoh: 10:22am On Aug 05, 2015 |
Tokotaya: If you have a dormant bank account in Nigeria, you could be on CBN’s debtors’ list. Let me recast that, if you have a dormant account in Ecobank, you may already be a debtor, without knowing it. Your name may have been listed as having bad credit on the Credit Risk Management Bureau (CRMB)’s database with CBN. It’s not a demarketing attempt. It is purely my experience that others can learn from.
I had a current account in Ecobank around 2011. My ex-employer moved our salaries there based on a nice presentation made by the Branch Manager of the Bank at the time. However, the promises made were not met, so the salary account was moved elsewhere and we all thought it ended there.
More than three years later, I had left the company and was processing a loan with another bank. Near the completion of the deal, they called to tell me I was owing Ecobank. I was advised to sort it out with them before any progress could be made. I didn’t take any loan. The account didn’t have an overdraft facility. It was a basic current account from which you could never withdraw above your available balance at any point in time. How could I owe on the account?
I called their customer care and the lady insisted I must have taken a loan. I insisted I did not, and tried to convince her to look into the account to see what could have happened. She rudely cut the call!
I made a series of other calls and was linked to their Oke Afa, Isolo Branch where the account resided and was able to establish that it was my dormant account there that ran into negative. Ecobank made some routine charges on the account and when they depleted what was there, they made negative deduction of N119 and the negative started accumulating interest that had amounted to about N2,500 by late last year when I applied for a loan.
What manner of a bank would make deductions from a dormant account? I went to the bank and confronted them. An official explained that an account going dormant does not mean that charges could not be made on it. He said a man can be sleeping, but his bodily functions work nonetheless.
I paid off the money and obtained a letter of Non-indebtedness and took it to my new bank before they could process my loan. The great worry: what if I had not applied for a loan at another bank? How would I have known? Many decades later, may be as a pensioner, one may now apply for something and they will tell you there’s a debt of a couple of millions of naira you need to clear.
I’ve commenced the process of closing the account with Ecobank. Other dormant accounts I have are going too, even though some of the other banks are arguing that their own processes are different from Ecobank’s. They argue that typically, your dormant account holds the last balance there till you reactivate it. One said if at all any customer’s account goes into red, his bank had a standard procedure to call up the customer by phone to alert him. No one called me from Ecobank.
How much was N119 that Ecobank would go ahead to list me as having a non-performing loan instead of calling me to clear it. The totality of my experience with Ecobank has been horrible to say the least. To even collect the Letter of Non-Indebtedness was a war. It took nearly 3 weeks of constant harassment to get it ready and on the day I was to pick it up, I spent three and a half hours in their banking hall. So folks, check up on all your current dormant accounts, especially those with Ecobank.
Instead of going through that process, you could simply have written to them and demand for a reply in and harmless manner and when they reply with letter of non performing loan, your lawyer takes it up as an evidence. |

DaGC: Its funny though that many of the oil agencies are headquartered outside the Niger Delta. We even have a refinery in Kaduna. If the NLNG has been a private ish, I won't complain. But a government agency taking its shipyard away from its base of operations is weird to me. It looks wired but in all sincerity it is not. The company is being wise in terms of its security. Instead of the ijaw youth to negotiate on how to join hands with the government security forces to provide security for the companies, they are threatening. So after threatening them you expect them to still go ahead and stay. I don't know why these people are just not wise at all. |

@barcanista @teeowl @lastpage @MizMyColi @mickey45 AND ALL OTHERS DOES IT MEAN THAT CBN must Now back ALL the Naira purchases done online ?
DOES IT MEAN THAT CBN must Dip into its Forex Reserves to back ALL legitimate demands for school fees etc ? Yes. Only CBN should be able to back the Naira. It also means that demand for school fees has to go through the CBN. Better for the country (better statistics of inflow and outflow of Dollars from the economy. less money laundry, less corruption of the currency market etc) and better for the buyer(cheaper than from speculators) What happens when all Forex is snapped up by Traders from other neighbouring countries Forex cannot be snapped up by anybody. It is will be in the custody of CBN and other banks. Anyone who wants to trade with forex should go to Forex market online and trade. it is for every one all over the world to trade in (free entry, free exit). You don't have to be in Nigeria to trade with Naira. You can be in Nigeria and trade with Japanese (Yen) and South African (Rand) What happens when dollar in circulation out side banks becomes very scarce What is dollars doing in circulation? Is it our official currency? NO. So why use it to distabilize our economy by causing confusion I put it to you that its not 'speculators' .....but sensible Nigerians that converted their Naira to ensure they held unto the value of their money long term. The only legal and sensible way to trade your Naira to dollars is through the CBN and Banks not through speculators. If there are no speculators, people wont go about converting Naira into dollar. lastpage: Some parts of your post are not true ...or let me just say they are "plain naive"! I will just summarise that l was at a bank in Lagos late last year, to be specific, it was GTBank at Around Adeniran Ogunsanya area. I wanted to buy some forex to make an offshore payment for a vehicle l bought in the USA. The Bank staff, told me they cant sell Dollars to me, despite my request that l have proof of the transactions and it is legit and l have the naira equivalent. Funnily, and this is where it really gets funny, the Head of the forex desk at that GTBank branch, directed me to a "Mallam' who was lurking nearby and told me "That Mallam can help you".
I went to Mallam and told him what l want. Mallam said no problem, he would sell to me but the price was about #30naira per Dollar higher than the bank rate!
I went back to the GTBank Staff and asked him why he thinks l should buy it at that rate when all they needed do what use my Form-M to bid on my behalf with CBN? GTBank staff just looked at me and said Oga, if you really need it, that is how we can help you get it.
Meanwhile, as l was there "speaking grammar", Mallam has sold Dollars to a few people who dont give a hoot! And the scary part of it was that l saw with my own eyes as the GTBank staff was transferring the Dollar (which they bought officially at a lower rate from CBN, to the Mallam), and l assume they all share the 'extra' on top.
The juiciest part of all these is that I HAVE EVERYTHING CAPTURED SECRETLY ON VIDEO. I am torn between exposing this scam (and probably ending the career of those involved) or holding onto it and thus allowing such scam to be ongoing. As someone who have worked in various banks in the late 90's and early 2000's, l have seen it and l can tell you authoritatively that the scam is sanctioned by the Management of every Bank, right from the M.D., to the "trusted" head of Forex Dept in every bank.
so, if anyone should be held responsible for this scam, it should be the "big fishes" (from the Managers, to the M.D's,), not just the "small fries" who man the forex desk. Welcome to Round-tripping 2.0!
We are still on a "long Tin".
Lastpage! LOL @ bold Purple sentenceYour choice of words is contradictory to your experience described up there. I expected an opposing view to what I wrote but your experience only buttressed my points. BTW did you read the Paragraph below in my initial comment? If not. Please read again and pay attention to the words in bold. Thank God you know the ideal situation should be the RED COLOURED STATEMENT in your comment. Let's go back to CBN's directive. The CBN woke up and realise the sanity behind what some people has been shouting that BDCs and Speculators are destroying the economy in more ways than one. It is encouraging Money laundry, corruption, distabilisation of the currency(because the CBN don't know the amount of dollars in circulation) e.t.c. |

kaboninc: This is just what I've been wailing about. Lol.
When the RDAS and WDAS were still on, we had three markets - CBN, banks (interbank and autonomous) and black market. When demands (bids) are made, they are usually left overs due to fictitious applications. then it accumulates over time within the vaults of these banks. A bank buys on behalf of a customer at 161 (who many not fund his account or just buy, send abroad and send again doing round tripping) and sells at 183.
Where did they get that kind of money? Or is the bank's business now money changing? If you ask barcanista what WDAS and RDAS is he won't know yet he is criticsing the policy. Exactly the buy from the CBN, send abroad and back and they take it to black market to sell at a higher rate. Anyone that tries round tripping now will definitely run at loss because of the charges and ultimately he won't be able to sell it at open black market. |
