AreaFada2:No wonder you people keep shouting. Apart from the obvious fact that you find it hard to forgive the past which is very selective because if we as a people refuse to forgive the past we cannot move forward. What has PMB done that is worse than what the Igbo generals did? If we can forgive the Igbos and integrate them into the society even when they were not remorseful. If we can forgive ex militants and give them amnesty then why alienate PMB alone? The only set of people that is not worth forgiveness of Nigerians and any Nation are the Boko Haram and ISIS of this world. If you have any personal reason to not forgive him, it is better you cast it behind now if truly you are that passionate about Nigeria getting better. You should pray and support him instead of finding faults every single move of is. He's going to be the president for 4years. Its not far but a lot can go wrong if we don't guide our utterances especially as it relates to ethnicity. FYI federal character is only constitutional in the selection of ministers. The Legislators who kept silent on appointments of aides and service chiefs knows the sitting president needs trusted hands in this areas. People that won't have much reason to want to sabotage the government. Fasola and Ribadu? Come on. Be realistic for once do you really think Fasola and Ribadu have the mettle to take on the hawks of Nigerian Politics? Yes one poses the youthful zeal while the other has the brain. But do you think the two of them could have succeeded without their Godfathers(Obj and Tinubu) behind them? The answer is a NO. Desperate times requires desperate measures. Only a staunch PDP supporter will prefer a Fasola or Ribadu to PMB main reason been that, they know a Fasola or Ribadu cannot defeat a sitting president. FACT. Does Fasola or Ribadu have a cult following of the masses like PMB. I won't say more than that on this. Why do you keep countering your points and going back and forth? You want merit at the same time you want federal character. If no Yoruba man is qualified to be perm Sec. in a Ministry should they because of Federal character now sack his bosses? The Igbo man that was initially announced as acting DG of NIMASA was later discovered to have a more senior officer, that is Merit. Whereas leaving him there would have served federal character purpose but would not be on Merit. You can't eat your cake and have it. Rubber, kernel, palm? In what quantities and at what price as against cocoa and nuts? Try and do research on commodity prices. |
Sanchez01:Lol. This is TKO Total Knock Out. Its unfair o. why use my beloved barcelona as example. |
NDPVF:There's a very thin line between insults and hate speeches. And I was referring to post election. Elections are over they now want something from him so they should reconsider their strategies. You can't threaten me to trust you. It is simply ironical. Threats and trust don't go together. |
AreaFada2:My point is if some people had not set a precedence, a very bad one at that, we probably wouldn't have been in this mess we are today. Centralising the country was not to percify any region but attain selfish interest of benefiting from other regions cos obviously as at that time the eastern was about the poorest region due to the commodity nigeria was dealing with which was agricultural produce. The west(cocoa) and north(groundnut) were leading at the time. The centralisation favoured the east at the time but the lack of foresight by Ironsi and his cronies prevented them from seeing that the occupant of the new centralised system ultimately wields the power and owns the economy. You claim that bigotry is blaiming the act of few on the whole tribe. Meaning a few cannot represent the interest of a tribe. Fine. Going by your submission, then why are they agitating for appointment of a few to represent a region since a few people cannot represent the interest of the whole region. Using your analogy "an elderly lady in Damaturu or Kafanchan has no business with federal appointments, just like one in Afikpo or Orlu doesn't care about secures the nation. As long as they can conveniently put food on their table in a peaceful atmosphere. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Let's agitate for good governance instead of this hypocrisy. Kaduna ezeogwu used his tribes men to lead the coup to kill other tribes and seize power because they are the ones he trusted. PMB is using people he trust to lead Nigeria to liberation from 16years occupation and impoverishment of Nigerians by PDP because the people he trusts are mostly his people. Also the actions and utterances of these people are not encouraging him to trust them e.g. Senate debacle, NIMASA DGs scene, Emefiele's US insubordination. |
chuna1985:It is called diplomatic passports. It gives anyone who travels with it the immunity against extradition and other prosecutions(criminal or civil) |
dejavski:Regular passport is very different from diplomatic passport. It is to prevent them from travelling with it and claiming diplomatic immunity which would mean they can not be extradited. |
ArodewilliamsT:If Yorubas are traitor to Murders it is justifiable. We are traitors you are murderers. |
AreaFada2:LMAO @bold. Is this not selective memory. Instead of castigating the man for planning a coup why don't you castigate the tribe that staged the first coup in the history of our great nation. In the process murdered all the representatives and leaders of all other tribes in the country except theirs and abolishing the regional system of government to deny the Niger Delta the fiscal autonomy over its resources. The action that threw this once great nation into decades of retrogression and later plunged the greatest black nation on earth into its first and deadliest war. Perhaps if you're from that tribe that committed treason against the Nation and its people(dead, living and generations unborn), then calling PMB a coupist will be an act of pure hypocrisy. |
NDPVF:I don't expect anything better from you. They tagged them selves with such name and made it sound loud and clear not only through their votes but also through their utterances. It cannot happen in my state or local government cos its not a do or die affair to keep my corrupt, incompetent and unproductive brother in office to the extent of tagging an opponent an enemy of my people and our popular religion. |
AreaFada2:Mr. Because you want him to appoint other region or because you want him to correct the anomaly of the past you will rather see him retire/disengage top ministry officers unconstitutionally? A constitution he swore to uphold? At the same time you will be the first person to scream blue murder if he does. You will be the first to start celebrating when impeachment process is started against him for unconstitutional behaviour. Instead of you to agitate for better process in the future you're here rooting for illegality. All in the name of being an opposition. sunnyb0b0:The law guiding the civil service is different from the one governing the military. He has every constitutional power to retire, dismiss, discharge anyone in the military and appoint anyone he deem fit and trust. As long as he didn't break the military service rule. |
AreaFada2:Like you rightly pointed out, everybody knows how it happened but how it happened is not the issue on ground because the fact that it happened that way will not make the President to go against his vow to uphold the Rule of Law which the Civil service rule falls under. The present situation is reality and we have to accept it while at the same time put pressure on the government to institutionalise fairness in the process of recruitment into the federal civil service instead of finding faults where there's none. Once again these are appointments based on civil service rule and not political appointments. Except for his personal aides and you can't blame him for appointing trusted hands. Especially at this critical moment of restructuring. The treacherous events in the senate, the actions of the sacked NIMASA DG on the maritime security contract and the Emefiele(CBN Gov.) debacle in the US has not helped matters either. |
So at a crucial time when the man needs trusted hands on the rescue mission to save the country from the dungeon it was thrown into by PDP presently dominated by SS and SE, his sworn enemies, you expect him to still select from such region. No. Even if he had the intention of doing so, It is not possible for the time being especially not with the quick, treacherous events that unfolded in the senate. Only an unwise individual will still go ahead and select people from a zone where he is not popular at a time he needs trusted hands. Even an ordinary civilian will be forced to back track and thread carefully let alone a retired soldier. It takes time to earn their trust and when you do, they repay your trust. The actions of the sacked NIMASA DG as per Maritime security contracts and that of Emefiele(CBN Gov.) in US is still fresh in mind which has gone a long way in fuelling the flame of mistrust rather than douse it. |
abduljabbar4:Are you telling me about him. I even exchanged PMs with him at that time. I remember in one of my mails telling him the possible repercussion of his action on his image at the time he just switch side. But when the motivation lies with something more than passion for good. You even have time to read his articles. I only read comments and laugh over them. |
I thought some protection seeker and his gang of illiterates said Nigeria don have that kind of money. |
Op wats all this. I was born in the early 80s and I never see all dis before |
I pray woman no go kill you. Asewo. |

amdo007:When he was the Military head, he had all the opportunity to be sectarian. He never did. But if you look at the settings of our civil service especially if you've had the opportunity of living in Abuja. You will find out that more that 40 percent of the civil servants in the various federal establishments are northerners. The remaining ones are distributed amongst the remaining region. So it is no surprise that out of about 50 most senior officers of different establishment more than 25 will be from the north. The fact is that these people hardly work in private organisations. Once they graduate, job is sure for them in a federal establishment. As long as the person is a northerner. You can hardly find an unemployed graduate in the north. No matter how poor he was academically and once he enters they favour themselves to grow rapidly in the establishment. On the issue of present appointments, he has little or no control over who becomes the head. He has vowed to follow the due process of appointing the most senior officers. According to the law guiding the civil service. Let's wait for the ministerial list that he has absolute control over before we can judge. |
theunusualmoon:Absolutely correct. Reason why he has to take his time to lay a solid foundation. It might be different but the basic concept is the same. Create strong institutions that needs little or no supervision to act. Each institutions must have its own mission and visions. Unlike the kangaroo/banana republic that was inherited. When Ministers come in they just act as external supervisors to create checks and balances and give corrections and recommendations when necessary. |
Wrong But guy hope no problem with all this anti bible thread tonight. Walking out of thread. |
amdo007:Don't be disturbed. Keep calm. Even the most ardent but rational critic would accept the fact that with all the happenings in the country presently, there's too much problems on ground that needs urgent attention before he can even settle down to work on his promises. But God is in control sha. |
MabraO:Me ke. If I represent you na you they go find guilty despite being the plaintiff |
[s]All hail the great Iron lady of Nairaland. Ishilove[/s] **Modified** After reading the article, I think the Op is high on expired Igbira weed. |
Getting better but PMB cannot do it all but he will prepare the ground. Same way Tinubu couldn't do it all in Lagos but prepared the ground for Fasola to build on. |
