From experience your panels wont get you much of what is on the name plate wattage. I use imported premium panels and my data logger has showed the panels could get only a paltry 60% of its designed capacity. This is after observing the production for a period of time on daily basis.

Way forward is to oversize your PV system but not the Voc as that is the only thing that is always higher than the name plate value when it is in use. Don't waste your money on any premium anything.
EXACTLY !!!

Sure it works excellently but not sure it is compatible with all products from other OEMs.

You can monitor and control the inverter remotely with it.

One draw back is that the monitoring page takes a few minutes to update so its not real time. But the command control is immediately.

This is the web interface http://www.dessmonitor.com/?#/generalNew/home

The attached picture is a typical day. After battery was 100% the PVs stopped harvesting and dumped the excess into a Lagos lagoon grin
Not entirely true sir, It stopped harvesting because your applied load is not drawing the Solar Energy after your battery gets full. Thus is why you have to do a little trick on setup using your Dry Contacts or SmartLoad if your inverter has it, So that you can power up things like ACs, Fridges, etc once your battery get 100% SOC. by doing so, they draw or harvest the solar energy that your Inverter could have thrown into Lagos Lagoon. but you must not over power your KWp or else they will be steeling your battery energy join.

Does anyone know of a premium solar panel up to 450w with 10A or less Isc? Please share the product name.
What should be of concern to you is the system voltage. JUST DON'T EXCEED YOUR SYSTEM MAX VOLATGE Your System can only draw a max of 10A even if you a have 15A total panel assembly but make sure your MPPT Max Voltage at STC is not exceeded.

Eg.
Say you have 450W 12A @ 37.5V Panels
And your MPPT spec says: 450V @ 10A,
It's very safe to have 10 of this panel in series which will give 375V @ 12A STC,
So your MPPT will draw it's 10A complete and the excess will not be of any harm to it.

But in all this, NOTC will reduce these readings for you. At least in Nigeria anyway.

That bar is a clamp. There are cells under it. Its how most battery designer holds their cells in place.

I see lots of that.
No sir, you are wrong on this one. Except it's a quack, manufacturers will not cross a bar on top of opposite battery terminals carrying high currents. they cross it between the terminals clamping the cells in equal halves. There ought to have been two bars in that pack, one holding each cell rows respectively. And the bars will act as rails for cells cable management. That's how we do it.

Hello Guys, has anyone tried this product from felicity?

Any reviews? Does it work with all products.?

This is not the USB version, it's comes with a serial and RJ45 connector.
No it is not universal if that's what you asked.
Every Vendor has a Unique Module ID on this device that must be recognized by the Communication and Data Board inside the Inverter.
If not, the device will simply get powered up but will not communicate nor give you any data reading from the inverter.

there is no Abracadra here, he is running 2p14s. that's a 14s NMC cells

there are several types of Lithium packs. 48V
Li-on/NMC - 14s
LFP - 15s (48V) 16s (51.2)
LTO - 20s
Sodium ion -15s
A 2P14S connection is supposed to give us 28 cells in total. Your man has got 24 cells visible in there. Except some cells are hidden under the bar as assumed by someone here.

Someone should get to this battery pack before it causes mayhems.

I’ve opened the battery and these are the pictures I took before closing it back. Please if anyone knows where Or who can help get it fixed, please do recommend. I have to revert back to my generator now in this current fuel scarcity wahala.
Well, you are lucky that this didn't cause a fire outbreak before it shut you off.

The cable management i just saw is the worse i have ever seen in any DIY, Please know it that just water does not put out Battery Fire oooo.
Any of those web of wires could have snapped, bridged or even be having partial contact.
By the way, you have got 24 cells in total, some 2 cells are paired connection and some cells are single, i am wondering how you want to achieve a 16S setup with this. I also doubt these cell are new neither are they LiFePo4 Cells. I thought we are DOING IT OURSELVES because we are trying not to fall prey to China's deceptions, then what the hell did I just see here?

I appeal to someone who is within this guys proximity to go rescue this looming calamity ASAP. At least trace out them wires and Zip tie all the cables neatly.
It would have been better to package a (16s + BMS) + (16s + BMS) or even a (16S2P + BMS ) than this setup you have. that

While i have resisted the urge to respond to many posts here, I have to state the following about Hybrid Inverters:

If your are stuck with the idea that HYBRIDS are not good, You will be left behind just like those who said Automatic Transmission Vehicles were bad far back in 1990-1998. Obviously they were left behind while many have learnt to adapt to the new technology and today, little or no one wants a Manual Transmission Vehicle anymore.

Why don't you print the Checklist of a Hybrid installation and sort out the prerequisites one by one and go ahead to install your Hybrid Inverter?
These might include but not limited to:
Proper Earthing
Use of SPDs
Use of breakers
Use of Voltage Protectors or Regulators
Proper Ventilation of installation Site
Proper Cable Sizing
Proper Choice of Inverter
Proper Choice of Panels and Capacities
Proper Panel Sloping Angle
Determination of Daily Sun Hours
ETC ETC ETC

I have always maintained that in Nigeria, Please people should rate their panels at NOTC. e get why.
Why because our roofing pattern are mostly not planed for Solar panel integration, Our atmosphere is full of impurities (if rain no fall for 2 days, dust go cover your panels).
Nigeria's optimum solar production angle has been proven to be best at 9 degrees angle facing south ( how many buildings in Nigeria has this?)
Sun wan shine for Nigeria, the Temperature go almost reach 40 degrees Celsius (Panels don't like this) Yes panels need sunlight but they don't light excessive heat too.

All these and many more factors mostly accounts for why we install a 600W x10 panels and end up getting 4000w or less max production. Take those same panels to another location, which naturally maintain STC and you will get accurate production as rated from the manufacturers.

And for the Anti-Hybrid campaigners, continue, you will be left out eventually. No offense please.
We never even drive Hybrid Cars finish, Oyimbo people don leave am for us and take up Full electric vehicles, Once fuel scarce for an hour and the situations at our fuel stations will be chaotic.

How else do we convince y'all that HYBRIDS ARE HERE TO STAY?

Even more. If I have Deye, I wouldn't even use its smartload function. I have much better control with my smart setup. Unlike Deye Smartload, I can shed high load selectively. I can power fridge and freezer without powering any other thing. If I want my freezer to stay on, when freshly filled, I can just set that. I can power pump without turning the heater on.

Smartload is for people who don't know that better options exist.
Hmmmmm? Like seriously?
Well what you just talked about has to do with your Raspberry PI Distribution Board or Smart DB or even some bunch of programmable timers in conjunction with your Inverter Dry Contacts, Perhaps you could tell us with visualizations how your Battery SOC between (30%-80%) would be a determinant for the behavior of your smart setup.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jonescosmos(m): 10:02am On Apr 24, 2024
Juror:
If one has an inverter with dry ports that get signals based on the SOC, it's just a matter of relays and contactors + timers and one can replicate that. Which is why I love the latest jk bms features.
Dry contacts only activates at critical battery low alarm and deactivates at battery floating stage and will not even activate even if grid comes on but until the battery floats. Deye Smartload gives you the ability to activate this port when grid comes on, when SOC is at your choice level, when PV wattage reaches a certain level. The newest firmware update even makes it possible for the smartload to shut off if grid goes off and battery has not reached your desired smartload ON SOC.
We are currently upvoting a TIME OF USE Option for the SMARTLOAD PORT.

Juror:
Looks good and secure, but how about wire management? Entry and exit, especially considering the battery's cables too
I would always recommend not combining AC and DC Circuitry, ESD is real and not a friend of most Inverters.
Same way I preached against combining AC Grounding and DC Grounding using the same Earth Rod (Bury 2 Rods in the same spot but don't let them touch each other). Some people who did combine their earthing had their Inverters exposed to hazards and consequently damaging them.
The use of the ATS in the box is not recommended also because anything that trips your Inverter output requires an attention. Go and verify that everything is OK and so you can switch things manually.
Most Inverters are short circuit protected, so if you have a short circuit or some sort garget that is trying to blow, it will raise the amperage on the power source, most inverters will trip to prevent that from happening.
And when it trips, your ATS then switches your supply over to Grid automatically abi?, Well, Nigerian NEPA current does not pity anything wey wan blow. Don't ask me the function of the breakers, most breakers you have in Nigerian Markets today are fakes and locally printed, so they might not protect your equipment in some hazardous events.
People now have printing machines that can print on those breakers, Now that solar is trending, watch them cleaning Ac breakers and printing them as DC breakers. Always buy proprietary protection devices, they costs more but they work.

Avoid using ATS on your Inverter Outputs, use MTS if you must, or do it on the Inverter Input considering alternative source of power.

I come in peace.

How does Deye compare to Growatt, pound-for-pound?
I am getting ready to purchase and have eyes on the SPF 5000 ES Hybrid 5kW 48V

Growatt is a Voltronic Based Inverter but built with quality in mind.
Deye is a Proprietary Owned Inverter built with quality, longevity, strength, adaptation. They have been in existence for a while. America tried to clamp them down by taking a franchise contract under SunSynk, EG4, SolArk, etc. But they eventually got liberated and started shipping out with their own Brand Name: DEYE.

Weldone but are you sure all these appliances can be powered concurrently on a 8kw Deye though? 8 units of 1.5hp and heater alone seem to exceed 8kw already unless you were sure that they all won't be powered concurrently otherwise you may need another Deye in parallel
The Deye 8K at PF:1 guzzled all the listed loads.

SmartLoad function turns the heavy loads off at certain SOC to save your battery till day break and turns them on when your SOC reaches 100% again. Time of Use is another very useful function of Deye.

Done and Dusted !!!

Abuja People !!!

The fear of Band A, Band B and Band etc is the beginning of wisdom.
This Client first said: "just install something that will power my fridge and Lighting points."
And I asked him, "Will you be wanting to upgrade this setup someday?"
He said maybe. I proposed he should simply go OFF-GRID he said give me quotation, I quoted:

12Kw Deye Inverter
24x625W Jinko,
35KW (2 x 17.5KW) Felicity Lithium

as usual and he screamed and said just install something that will power my fridge and Lighting points that he can add things later and will be supporting the heavy loads and recharge the battery with Nepa for now (I explained and tried to discourage him from doing this till I got tired). We adjusted this quotation so tey we landed on:

8KW Deye
17.5KW Felicity Lithium
3.5KWp Jinko Panels (8x440w)

And we deployed.
He was happy, but then the battery will never fill up before sun down, he recharged his Meter as usual 50K (Band A) twice and the credit lasted less than 3 days, He called me back and said:
"E be like say that thing wey you been dey try explain to me na true ooo, to charge this battery with Nepa go tear my wallet"

He said Ok let's power the whole house and see
So I did something for him, I powered the whole house, Put some ACs the heavy loads on SmartLoad, we switched off the water heater and job done.
He tested for 3 days and as soon as the client noticed that the inverter could take all his loads, He called me back and said that we have to upgrade this setup ASAP to power everything house 247. But remember that we had opted for an 8KW instead of 12KW inverter, 440w Panels instead of 625w Panels, 1 unit of 17.5kw Instead of 2 Units. He asked if we can sell the Inverter and Panels to upgrade to the initial quote. I told him that he might not realize the money 100% and he screamed "something wey I never use up to one week?
I asked if I should post it online and see, he said no let him contact his friends that knows about Inverters and Solar. He did and in my presence his friends where pricing less than half of what he invested. I asked him again "Make I post am online?" He said "NO NEED, If people wey know me dey price am like this, wetin people wey no know me go come price am" that I should find a way to make this thing work out.

And so I did:

8KW Deye
35KW (2 x 17.5KW) Felicity Lithium
12KWp Jinko Panels (8x625W + 16x440w)
After powering up around 1PM yesterday, the Batteries filled up before 4PM from 40% to 100%. grin
Thanks to Deye SmartLoad Function

Load:
8 x 1.5hp LG Dual Inverters Permanently Put on Inverter Mode (5 Units on SmartLoad)
1 x 620Ltr 4 Door Samsung Fridge
1 x 420Ltr Hisense Freezer (SmartLoad)
6 x 60Inch LED TVs
1 x 100Ltr Water Heater (SmartLoad)

1 x Microwave Oven (SmartLoad)

I would like to know if anyone on this forum has installed wind turbine....... I want to compliment it with my solar system at home

I heard the vertical axis wind turbine is better if you do not live at a very windy environment.... but i would love a first hand experience review and recommendation
I had installed 3 units of 6000w 3 blades in a farm Gombe state back in 2015, a project termed FADAMA or some sort.

I learnt they couldn't maintain them and they packed up.

One thing is to Install wind turbine, another thing is to be able to service them because they are susceptible to harsh weathers and all.

Last thing is that they are quite expensive, yes more expensive than Inverters.

What capacity Do you want to install?
Do you have the Wind Turbines already?
Do you have the Wind Turbine Controller too?
Does your present Inverter have Wind Turbine inputs?
Do you have the space to mount them?

If it's a yes all these questions, Let's roll. I will install it for you at the appropriate fee.
If not, Indicate if you need a quote for the Total Package.

Why does Deye use KW and not KVA?

What is the real KVA of these KW inverters?
Watts to kVA Calculation
The apparent power S in kilovolt-amps (kVA) is equal to the real power P in watts (W), divided by 1000 times the power factor PF:

S(kVA) = P(W) / (1000 × PF)

For example, let’s convert 6200 watts to kVA given a power factor of 0.85.

S(kVA) = 6200 W/ (1,000 × 0.85) = 7.294117 kVA
