Romance / Re: After Introduction, I’m Seeing Too Many Red Flags by Jonra(m): 2:12am On Jun 24, 2021
There's something fundamentally wrong with your understanding of salvation

mugnmuffin:
Dear Nairalanders,
I have an issue that has been on my mind for weeks now. My fiancé and I have been dating for over three years. I love him and he loves me too. We are physically attracted to each other. We’re both catholic but since I graduated, during my service year I gave my life to Christ, got saved and left the Catholic Church. So I’ve been a Pentecostal Christian since then. He on the other hand is still catholic. I subtly try to nudge him to consider getting saved, i.e acknowledging Christ as lord and savior and becoming born again but he is content with his laidback Christian life.

Earlier this year, he asked to meet my parents and I let him. My parents like him especially because my younger sis is married and they have been waiting for me too. They’re glad I’ve someone. However, after the introduction,I regret it. I’m now certain that he’s not the one. I think about my spiritual life and how lukewarm he is about the things of God, I think about kids and how we’ll raise the, with such differing views about God and I’m discouraged. I feel like I’m settling because he checks all the boxes on the checklist of physical attributes. Another mistake I made is, I didn’t pray about this decision and that worries me because anything that involves him,I just act with pausing to ask God, but I always ask God about other aspects of my life. So it’s like my associating with him is a minus for my spiritual life and that’s a huge cause for concern.

At this point, I want to tell my parents I am not convinced it’s him but I’m afraid of the disappointment this will cause. *sigh* I’ll appreciate your thoughts, comments, criticisms...

Politics / Re: Explosion Rocks Mile 3 Motor Park In Rivers, Stores Injured by Jonra(m): 2:59pm On May 31, 2021
dealslip:
On the 6th of November 2020. I had a dream of the night. I saw the map of Nigeria before me and I saw water pour in abundance from Borno into Imo State. I then received a phone call from my Father in the dream. He said the abundance of water will first pour into Imo State from Borno state then it would fill every nook and cranny of Nigeria and it would readily be available on streets and everyone will have access to it on the street. He told it would happen because of something Buhari did. He told me it would begin late last year and the whole of Nigeria in 2021 would be full of the water that poured from Borno into Imo State. I am beginning to see that terrorism has moved from Borno into Imo. Nigeria should expect every nook and cranny to be filled with this terror act.

Thereafter I saw Lions terrorise me and other people. Then I heard a voice tell me that I had been warned twice in the dream about the King of the South (this king was identified as France in the dream) who was planning to enslave the people of Nigeria. I saw people go into captivity while the Lions terrorised them. the angel told me he first came as London, then a particular country I can't remember, then he came as France. I am believing that it is referring to Colonialism. Britain being the First, I don't remember the second country now France is the third colonialist. Nigeria let us rise up and lift up our voices. We are in really precarious times.

Are you for real?

For the sake of this exchange, let's practice non-dual thinking - it can be both and, not just dual - either or
Therefore, she is a rare breed in my frame of experience, just as she is ordinary in your frame of reference.

Totally agree with the possibility of the introverted couple getting it on with their laid-back style.

doxijaw:

Lolz , she's no rare breed.

Just doing her, it could be different for others.

An introverted couple may enjoy their introvertedness the same way she enjoys extra activities.

Btw when did video games, exercising become something exclusive . grin

Not just those two things, she's an intelligent lady who is open to new experiences - this is a huge bonus.

In summary, her brain is active and her heart is open, you have no idea how hard it is to find her type - a woman who is evolving in body, mind, and soul in 21st-century marriage. Baba, only 0.1% of Nigerian girls fall in that category.

Rare breed? Because she plays video games and exercise in the morning?

You're a rare breed!
But it doesn't sound like you grew up in Nigeria?

PS: The future is not woman! the future is human grin kiss

Danhoys:
I could totally relate to you dear op, but I'm sure we're the lucky ones.

First of all, you married someone you love, someone you find both romantically and sexually attractive.

That's a plus.

When I and my hubby were passing through this turbulent phase, what helped was having similar interest.

I'm hugely into politics, and so is my husband. Trust me, there is always something to gist on when he's back from work.

Aside from politics, we're both hardcore gamers too, and we're already saving to get PS4, and it doesn't stop us from giving our young kids the attention they deserve.

Aside that, we both have huge interest in other areas too, like science. There is always something to talk about.

I've always love men who are built, and my husband knows this.

Every weekend, we go running, and we help each stay fit. Sometimes I teases him that he should be a model, and I do take alluring pictures of him too.

I'm a super intelligent lady, (not bragging), so I ensured that my husband's intellect matched with mine before saying 'I do!'

We've been married for 5 years now, and the love and fun is still there. During leave, we always make it a duty to travel to another state, and see an interesting place.

A week vacation doesn't hurt, and it has a way to rekindle the love we have for each other.

When you marry your friend, you discover that your love is new every morning lol.

Work and children can't steal love away, that's an excuse people give to avoid talking about how they no longer find their partner attractive or interesting.

I don't want to talk about sex, cause ours is on a whole new level. Sex shouldn't be the traditional offing of light and missionary thrusting.

That's boring!!! It needs spicing every time or it becomes boring and a chore.

I wouldn't like to go into details, before some religious folks label us sinners.

You have work to do, and I'm sure you've gotten a cue from my write up. Wishing you more bliss in marriage.

Family / Re: Must I Fall In Love Before I Marry? by Jonra(m): 7:36pm On Dec 29, 2020
It's better to walk in love, than to fall in love!

You see, falling in love is too risky. But shining ya eyes and walking in 'love' is the way to go.

Now, suppose you meet a woman, she looks great and appeals to you - sexually; walking in Love would mean:
- Delaying the kissing and close physical contact that could lead to practical strangers sleeping together - TRP brothers sha no go gree grin

But guy too much too soon, and heavy emotional clouds will blind you from really knowing the other person - everything go just be vibes on vibes.

Anyways, instead of finding the right person, falling in love, fixing all your hopes and dreams on that one person; try becoming the right person, fix your hope on God and seek to please him through your relationship (I assume you are Christian). If failure occurs, repeat steps 1,2,3...

PS: Do as I say cool

Jokes Etc / Re: Share The Funniest Moment Of Your Life. by Jonra(m): 3:41pm On Nov 28, 2020
The funniest moments in my life all happened in or around Nsukka. You see, the first 8 years of my life was spent in that university town;
and for a boy who couldn't speak or write in English in 2001 (@ 8 years old), I'd have imagined that the funny moments would be those days I was learning to speak English in Primary 3 (Family moved to Lagos). Well, those days were not as funny as my first year in UNN.

(Anyways special shoutout to my Primary 3 teacher and mother, they'd both translate English instructions to Igbo and back...)

Now the funniest day happened in 2011, my first year at the University of Nigeria Nsukka. I was in the department of Electrical Engineering playing the game of 'pretend-to-be' a serious student.

Sometime in April 2011, I was going to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Library after a restful afternoon at the hostel (Mbanefo) and at the steps of the main entrance to the library, I was caught by some black letters on a blue roll-over banner, it simply said - "Could it be you?" with a Unilever logo splashed about the background in different shades.

Yes, I became curious (still am, the child in me lives), and whipped out my Nokia E51, to visit the URL on the banner <unileverideatrophy.com>. What I saw blew me away, so AXE (Unilever deodorant, not the guys of the night) were coming into the Nigerian market and were looking at tapping ideas from young 'uns like meself and other brilliant young Nigerians in a competition format event.

Officially, the communication was this - To give University students the opportunity to express their unique business ideas, be developed by professional business mentors and get a taste of after-school life, Unilever Nigeria has launched the Unilever Nigeria Ideatrophy competition.

My tails were up, I love competition (blame it on my upbringing), and I left the library after 30 minutes of thinking "Could it be me?"
Long story short, I dialled Nnayere my friend from the same department and next-door neighbour (Room 412), and called on Lucky my room-mate (413, Mbanefo) - "Brothers something don happen, we have a challenge before us and we need to give it our best shot!"

All of us were freshers o, but we get mind. So we borrowed a Laptop from Brother Felix (My roommate, biochemistry lord and pastor). Thinking back, that laptop weighed like 20Kg.
Mr Paul-Ugbe (Unilever) and a few other resource persons sent us presentation templates and we whipped up our presentations and sent them on 30th June 2011 (deadline day).

Everything was ready o until we were told we have to come to Calabar to defend our presentation on 15th July 2011
I was the only one aware of this new development and told the team a week before the 'supposed' departure date.

Practice our presentation, no!
Save money for travel, no! we just dey focus on CGPA until it was 12th July, when one of us asked, "Are we still going?"
I said Yes, we are already there!

Told my people at home we are going on an excursion and needed some money, they paid, Nnayere did the same, his people paid, Lucky's people said on the day of the excursion, they'll pay.

So a day before the main event in Calabar, 14th July - we met at 5 a.m., committed the Journey into the Hands of "Our Father" and left for Enugu.
Still unsure of this trip, because Lucky's people never still do the transfer.
At about 9:13 am, the money came in, we were at Holy Ghost Enugu and were now sure this journey would happen if only we found a bus going to Calabar.

We found one, reached Calabar many hours later (about 5 hours, roads were better then). Then came another shocker, my guys no know say, we no get where to sleep.
They thought we were going to the hotel for the main event (hahaha)

The shock on their faces when I asked our Taxi driver, "abeg sir we no get where to sleep this night, you fit to carry us go your house?"
Now, I could make that request because the person in question was the dad of a friend in my department; Gerard had given me past questions to give to his dad for his sister who was preparing for PUME that year.

The man bluntly said, "I have too many daughters for 3 capable boys to come camping for a night, I'll take you guys to somewhere cheap",
He delivered us to 38 Ekpo Abasi (still have the receipt for our two nights there) and we met Okon the caretaker, paid N3k for the first night, went out that evening to eat our first Edika-Ikong and another dark soup; it was raining heavily on the way back, and I lost my slippers to gushing waters.
Small things water for don carry me go!

We went to the hotel the next day, not knowing what to expect, na so we enter the stage, with big camera's and tough-looking judges, a carnivorous audience and our small belief.
Omo eh, Lucky collect mic, introduced himself, come talk say "now I hand the mic to my brother Sebastine(Nnayere) to continue with the presentation (ah! this was not the plan o!). Sebastine also took the mic, introduced himself and said "now I hand the mic to my brother Orakwe to continue with the presentation (ah bro! this was not the plan!)
Was there even a plan?

Sink or swim time; I swam pretty brilliantly, but what happened at the end was like hitting your head hard at the end of the line.
After all the wonderful suprisupri presentation and brilliant demonstration by the team; they asked us one (1) simple question - "How much do you need to make all of this possible?" i.e. to launch AXE deodorant into the Nigerian market ooooo

Na him I go make the biggest blunder of 2011, ladies and gentlemen, I said 1 Million Naira!!! (Damn Nigga 1 Mil shocked naira not dollars)

Shaaa...I noticed the room temp dropped by 10 degrees. But at the end, one of the judges (a Banker) came up to us and said, we had the best presentation but 1 Million Naira guys, you shot yourselves in the foot!

Still laugh about it to this day.

I'll bother about JW...

And this one too, but please break down this question about mindset and worship below?

Maximus69:

Before bothering yourself over the history of JWs, try to correlate how these different people worshipped the same God and why is it that they didn't practice the same sacred service all through!

Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses, John the baptist and Jesus!

Note the differences in their mindset regarding the worship of God, the changes in standard and prove to me that they're all worshipers of the same God! Hebrew 11:4-32 smiley

Here's a breakdown

Use the 3 laws of logic

The Law of Identity states that everything is identical to itself. (A = A).

The Law of Excluded Middle states that something either is or is not. (A V ~A) = (A OR not A).

The Law of Non-Contradiction states that nothing can both be and not be at the same time. ~(A & ~A) = (It is not the case that A AND not A).

Now you have said an absolute truth claim is not different from another absolute truth claim. Which is false.

That's why you're wrong my Elder smiley

Elder0001:

What exactly are you saying? Because what you just typed has no meaning.
Religion / Re: Lol, Why Are The Christians Panicking? by Jonra(m): 4:03pm On Sep 14, 2020
Apologies for not replying you earlier.

Will show you how JW came about in light of church history and you'll see just how much you don't really know about your own doctrines and formation.

Maximus69:

Russell and Rutherford are humans that our God used during the restoration of pure worship, so they died just like all other servants of our God that died without seeing the fulfilment of what God has in mind regarding his earthly Organization!
So it's not their doctrines that we are following like the Churches of Christendom where doctrines of their founders remains.
In Jehovah's Witnesses Organization, most of those who participated in building this BODY don't know how it will turn out to be today!
Now we have a global family of peace loving worshipers ever on planet earth just as Jesus prayed for! John 17:20-23
Right from Abel till today all of us has continued to build the sacred city of pure worship, but many of them are sleeping in death right now, when they're resurrected back to life, they'll know how we completed the building.
So don't concentrate on either Russell or Rutherford, they're just our fellow workers in the Lord NOT the founders of JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES ORGANIZATION!

God bless you! smiley

If you don't know a thing. The least you can do is keep quiet and not claim that you know. How can two truth claims not be different from each other?

Through the lens of - Creation, Meaning, Morality, Destiny - they are all different!!!

Elder0001:

It beats your imagination how a grown up can believe there's a god called odin or a place called vahalla? But you believe God and jesus abi? Idiot.

Christians and Muslims always insult other religions. There are more than 80-100 religions in the world and each religion's adherents believe their doctrine /way of life is the only way, quite amusing.

You wrote so much falsehood. Why do you claim to know what you don't have an idea of?

If you've made a small attempt at knowing church history, you'll see how even JW is closer to falsehood than the Catholic church.

Based on the works of JW founder (Charles Taze Russell) and his successor (Joseph Rutherford), it can easily be proven that your sect is in many errors with false/revised doctrines.

Ask me how?

Maximus69:
You don't know what you're saying!

Perhaps you need help to IDENTIFY the one and only TRUE Christian group, study their way of doing things and what they've been preaching and teaching.

The AntiChrist has been here for over 1,800 years now!

It's the AntiChrist that made most of you have the wrong idea about Christ and Christianity.

For your information the AntiChrist is what you know today as Catholic Church. She is the mother of all false religions claiming they believe in Abrahamic texts including Islam!

But the true Christians have always been separate from all these false religions, it was when America declared FREEDOM of speech expression and worship that the true Christians sufficed again as a group, they're known today as Jehovah's Witnesses! Thoroughly examine the Jehovah's Witnesses and ask yourself "is there any panic in the face of these ones?"

On the contrary, Jehovah's Witnesses have been proclaiming the great tribulation that will occur before God's kingdom (their long awaited blessings) come! Matthew 24:11-14

So search for knowledge and hold on to facts! wink

What some mofos don't know is that certain stories in the bible are based on real places that were present at the time it was written.. Same way the spiderman movie is based on a location, New York. But sadly, people don't think.
