Great moniker... Easy on the tongue You also doubt the divinity of the Bible. Iss ok Let's begin with the foundation of how 'Jesus is God'. It'll guide every other discourse we'll have. Alennsar... ![]() Alennsar: |
I understand your unwillingness to probe the pillars of your existence. No answer whatsoever to the Islamic dilemma? Abbeyrazaq20: |
Nice. I like you already! There's a lot for me to learn from our conversation. For one, I never knew that you regard Muhammad as the promised comforter whom Jesus Christ explicitly called 'Spirit of God' and who will glorify Jesus (John 16: 13-15). Muhammad is as far from Jesus as far can be. I also noticed that you don't believe the trinitarian idea. I hope after when we're done talking about this, you'll begin to see the connection. Even if you haven't voiced it, one of your fundamental question is where did Jesus say, 'I am God, Worship me'? Answering this question will strengthen my previous arguments and the divinity of the Bible. And I pray you'll end up like my Lebanese brother Pastor Muhammed Yamout who's now proclaiming the gospel in Lebanon. PS: Your hermeneutic gymnastics to inject Ahmad into scripture did not start with you. Even your scholars failed at it. Friend01: |
DM your number. Thanks pythonkid: |
Thank you. I'll respond to all the points raised, and I hope you'll be open minded enough to accept truth at the end of it all. Though how any of these your points contradict the central tenet of Christianity is difficult to spot. At the minimum, there's no unresolvable dilemma as in Islam. Nasr Abu Zayd, Abdolkarish Soroush, Abdel Razik, Mahmoud Muhammad Taha and many Islamic thinkers have all tried to make fundamental reforms to Islam but failed because Islamic clerics fear that allowing critical thought will lead many to leave Islam. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, a staunch Medina Muslim and a prominent leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, has said: “If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment Islam would not exist today. Islam would have ended with the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him. Opposing apostasy is what kept Islam to this day.” Before we carry on, I need to know if you have the capacity to question your religion? Friend01: |
Talk to me... Maybe I can help you. Life isn't meaningless if that's your worry. There's a purpose to the chaos of the human condition. Don't die in silence. Talk to me! pythonkid: |
Hello my Muslim Friend, In Surah 29:46, the Qur'an says "We believe in what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to you. Our God and your God is one, and to him we submit" But many Muslims do not believe in the gospel, saying it's been corrupted and that the Christian God is false. If the Qur'an affirms it, why do Muslims still deny it? Several reasons are given below. According to the Bible; 1. God is a trinity (one in nature or essence, but three in person) (Matthew 28:18-20) 2. The son entered creation as Jesus (John 1:1-14) 3. Jesus died on the cross for sins (Mark 10:32-34, 45) 4. Jesus rose from the dead (Luke 24) And so, there's a serious problem with denying all four claims (made in the gospel) and affirming that the - the Torah, the Gospel were revealed by Allah as the Qur'an does in Surah 3:3-4 "He has revealed to you the book with truth, verifying that which is before it. And he revealed the Torah and the Gospel aforetime a guidance for the people, and He sent the Qur'an" Therefore, any Islamic claim that the gospel is corrupted is in fact a statement that the guidance which Allah sent couldn't be protected and it ended up misguiding people. Which creates another problem, because the Qur'an says in Surah 18:27 that no one can change the word of God. "And recite what has been revealed to you of the book of your lord. There is none who can change his words. And you shall not find any refuge besides him" Now, some Muslims would say that this verse only refers to the Qur'an. But the verse clearly says 'NONE CAN CHANGE ALLAH'S WORDS', which includes the Torah and the Gospel according to the same Qur'an. Despite Allah's declaration that no one can change his words, many Muslims still say that the Bible was corrupted by Apostle Paul or by some later Christians. But if the gospel was corrupted, one begins to wonder why the Qur'an says that Christians still had the gospel during the time of Muhammad? See Surah 7:157 "Those who follow the messenger. The unlettered prophet whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures) - in the Torah, and the Gospel - it is they who will prosper" And so more questions arise: 1. How can Christians find Muhammad mentioned in the scriptures when it was supposedly corrupted centuries earlier? 2. Allah says we'll find Muhammad mentioned in our corrupted scriptures - but we don't find him at all. Except as part of a general warning about false prophets who come to lead people away from Christ. 3. And if we did, how would we know this is not one of the corrupted parts? 4. And since our scripture contradicts Islam, why would Allah appeal to them as evidence of Islam? (As in Surah 7:157) To compound the issue, Allah goes further to command Christians to judge by the Gospel in Surah 5:47 "Let the people of the for Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah has revealed, they are no better than those who rebel" Why does Allah command Muslims to judge by a corrupt book? Clearly, Olobedience to this injunction means to judge by the gospel which leads to the conclusion that Islam is false. Allah continues along the lines of Surah 5:47 in Surah 5:68 with the declaration Say:"O people of the book! You have no ground to stand upon unless you stand fast by the Torah, the Gospel, and all the revelations that has come to you from your lord." And yet again more questions arise, 1. Why would Allah tell us we have no ground to stand upon unless we stand upon a corrupt book? 2. If the gospel has been corrupted, wouldn't Allah just tell us to get rid of it and pick up the Qur'an? Without doubt, the Qur'an clearly maintains that the gospel is authoritative for Christians; which only makes sense if the author of the Qur'an believed that Christians have the word of God. But the Gospel wasn't just authoritative for Christians, it was authoritative for Muhammad and therefore Muslims. When Muhammad had doubts about his revelations, Allah commanded him to go to the people of the book (Jews and Christians). - Surah 10:94 "But if you (o Muhammad) are in doubt as to what we have revealed to you, ask those who read the book before you; certainly the truth has come to you from your lord. Therefore you shouldn't be of the disputers" Many Muslims today act as if the Qur'an stands in judgement over the Bible but this is far from the truth. It is in fact the Bible which stands in judgement over the Qur'an. Muhammad himself could only confirm his revelations by checking to see if they line up with the scriptures of the people of the book. But you see, Muhammad continued preaching Islam. He apparently never took the test (Surah 10:94) very seriously. If he had gone to the people of the book in search of confirmation, he would have been forced to reject the Qur'an, because the Qur'an puts Muslims in an inescapable dilemma. EITHER CHRISTIANS HAVE THE INSPIRED, PRESERVED AND AUTHORITATIVE WORD OF GOD OR THEY DON'T? ONLY 2 POSSIBILITIES 1. IF WE DO HAVE THE INSPIRED PRESERVED AND AUTHORITATIVE WORD OF GOD, ISLAM IS FALSE BECAUSE IT CONTRADICTS WHAT WE HAVE. 2. IF WE DON'T HAVE THE INSPIRED PRESERVED AND AUTHORITATIVE WORD OF GOD, ISLAM IS FALSE BECAUSE THE QUR'AN AFFIRMS THE INSPIRATION, PRESERVATION AND AUTHORITY OF THE GOSPEL. Either way my Muslim friend, the Qur'an self-destructs by its affirmation of scriptures that contradicts its core teachings. Finally, if you don't want to live with all the contradictions, let us obey the gospel of Christ Jesus as both books command. Shalom! Lihyunpark: |

jetz:50 million people doing the wrong thing won't make it right. Granted, some truths are relative. But we can both agree that all 26 articles of the UN charter is absolute and binding on all nations of the world. |
Faith is superior to reason but not counter to it. Why is leaving Islam the worst mistake he can make? tallfish145: |
It's all good... ambivalence is a part of postmodern life. Whatever it is, don't be overwhelmed. Life is actually simple! Happy New Year MrsMusty: |

Please explore the subject of comparative religions to get rid of this religious ambivalence. jesmond3945: |
Don't be deceived. You're looking for answers aren't you? A worldview!? Please note that completeness of any answer out there must fulfill questions about our Origins, the Meaning of Life, Morality and Life after death (Destiny). Happy hunting! mainanalyst: |
As if moral reasoning wasn't grown in the the rich soil of Christendom (Go see the American constitution). Modernism and postmodernism have upended Christian moral virtues in the west but the chaos of the world is proving which is ultimately better. No wonder Nietzsche proclaimed 'god is dead' in his seminal work. If you believe God did not create the world, then you should also believe that an explosion at a printing press can produce a full unabridged dictionary? Which is more ridiculous? PS: Your choice is not intellectual. More than anything, it is moral, but I tell you today. Hear this --- "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God"-- John 1:12 mainanalyst: |
Why highlight the worst aspect of Nigerian Pentecostalism and call it 'Christianity'. What contradiction is worse than a belief in evil while being a skeptic or atheist? What contradictions puzzle you in Christianity? Time2Smile: |
Thank God you have a living conscience. But where's the sense in believing that you're promised tomorrow? How's this any different from the evil of armed robbery? Don't take life for granted. Return the money now!!! |
highcollide:Half-truths are dangerous. It is recorded in Acts 1:11 "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." |
KingSango:Between unarmed truth and unconditional love. I choose the latter. By the way, I wonder how you resolve the guilt of what you ought to do and what you really do. Or who people think you are and who you really are in your heart? Is there such a thing as sin in your worldview? I want a civil discourse. How does your religion answer questions about origin, meaning, morality and destiny? |
I can only pray for you. It's the least I can do KingSango Someday, hopefully soon, the truth will set you free. In Jesus name, Amen! KingSango: |
KingSango:Christianity is God working in us, working through us, working with us to bring about His eternal plan. Not a carved God who can't speak. No! He's eternal. He was, He is and He is to come. What hope is their in your god after this earthly sojourn? |
@Chief and all who are searching for truth, I’ll like to tell you about the three intimacies of love. How God speaks, How God is seen and How He touches us. I’ll begin with the first of the three intimacies of human love – Speech or hearing We would never know that anyone loved us unless they told us. Speech is the summation of a soul, all that it has been, all that it is, and all that it will ever be So if there was to be any love communicated between God and man, God has to speak and we have to hear, otherwise we would never know that he loved us. When did He speak? Turn over the pages of the Old Testament - this is the speech of God: There you read such words as "I will be to you a shepherd and you will be my sheep and those that are with young I will carry" – Ezekiel 34 "If your sins are as scarlet, they shall be made white as snow, and if they are as red as crimson, they shall be made white as wool" – Isaiah 1:18 And then not only in the Old Testament but I think every pagan people in the face of the earth heard in some way the speech of God Buddha, Confucius, and Plato - all in some little way communicated some feebler intimacy with the divine. Like the Greek dramatist Sophocles (406 B.C.) who yearned for a redeemer - "Look not for any end, he said moreover to this curse, until some God appears to accept upon his head the pains of thy own sins vicarious" And finally there did come a time when men heard God in a strange way. One night there rang out against the stillness of an evening breeze, a cry, a gentle cry. The sea did not hear the cry, for the sea was filled with its own voice. The great ones of the earth did not hear the cry for they could not understand how a child can be greater than a man. Two classes of people heard the cry: Shepherds and Wise men. Shepherds, those who know they know nothing. And wise men, those who know they do not know everything. And they came in response to the cry of a babe. And that babe grew in age and grace and wisdom and men heard God speaking. God walks among us, and once He spoke, pleading for our trust in divinity, He said "Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?” – Luke 12:27 – 28 But I suppose that there was no time when men heard the voice of God when there was a more staggering utterance than the day when someone said: "Though art not fifty years old, and you have seen Abraham!" and He answered with a casualness with which a man might look over his shoulder. "Before Abraham began to be, I am". (John 8: 48 – 59) It was Sinai all over, it was the voice of God on earth. ...But is that enough? Is any human lover simply satisfied when he hears the voice of the beloved? Some voices please, others do not. And even when voices please, they can be unsatisfying! So there ought to be some other intimacy of love besides hearing, and that is vision. We want to see the flash of an eye. We want to see the words of love borne on human lips. Human love demands this and rightly so; it craves presence. And that is why if God was ever to satisfy all the aspirations of man, he had to come to this earth and he had to make himself visible. And the only way that he could make himself visible was by taking a human body, and in that human body divinity would dwell. Then we would see God, well in human form. And this human body would be an instrument of his divinity not a separable instrument like the ink and the tube it nestles in. If God was to be loved, He had to be seen and He became Emmanuel – "God with us" But there's one more intimacy - an intimacy that is so delicate, so intimate and personal that it is given to but a few. The greatest insult that anyone can give us who knows us not is to make us of it. And that is the intimacy of touch! Touch is sympathy, touch is personal communion, touch is the utmost in kindness, and touch is healing. And if therefore, God came to this earth, spoke and was seen and if He was to exhaust all of the deep personal communications, He must touch, He must be touched. He touched. He touched the lepers, He touched the blind, the deaf, and He touched the young daughter of Jairus and rose her from the dead His fingers upon the hand of Peter's mother-in-law cured her. But it was not enough! To touch he must be touched. Mankind must come as close as it can to divinity. And He was touched. He was touched first of all by the pagan woman who came through a crowd and touched the hem of his garment. And she said, "If I but touch the hem of his garment, I shall be healed" And our lord willing to try and wishing to try our faith turned to the apostles and said "Who touched me?" And they said, "Everyone is crowding you round about, why do you ask who touched me?" And our Lord said, "Because I felt a power go out from me". But this is not the only time He was touched He was touched when a woman uninvited came into the house of Simon and broke a bottle of precious perfume over his feet, and let fall upon his feet like the first warm drops of Nsukka rain a few tears and wiped them away with her hair. A creature had touched the feet of God. But then there was another touch – ten witnesses came once to Thomas and they said "Thomas we've seen the Lord" And Thomas said, "Until I can see the mark of nails in His hands, until I can put my finger into the mark of those nails and put my hands into his side, I will not belief" With that after the resurrection, Our Lord appeared and He said, "Thomas, give me thy finger. Here's my hand. Put thy hand to my side. Doubt not but belief" Thomas was right, he knew that the only God that can save us was one who had scars and took our pains upon himself. NOW there's nothing more that can be done – He has been heard, He has been seen, He has been touched. He's heard in words – first in Scripture He's seen – He's seen by faith, He's seen in the church, He's seen in the blind, the lame, the poor, the lepers. Touch ... Oh ... That is rare ... It is for the intimates. That is a very special kind of communion. There are many who touched Him this morning. I did. I wish you could too... "Faith is greater than reason but not counter to it" |
In Summary: The holy spirit is given to man. And by God's grace, a man's soul will be saved. For they that truly believe, conforming to the way of God becomes a lifestyle. And as we know God, Love God and Serve God. The powers of our soul - Reason and Will and Intellect- are enlightened. In short, there's such a thing as being so heavenly conscious that we are earthly incredible - as we serve our neighbours in love. PS: It is not enough to feel and to say, it is more important to act on the word of God. |
And yet, it is clear that the standard is Christ Jesus, not any man of God/pastor/priest. There are many wolves in sheep clothings who have gone out to deceive the peoples. We shouldn't be deceived. Besides, being a Christian is not about going back into the garden without plying the way of calvary. Each believer with their light yoke and easy burden walking and working in the assurance and victory of Christ Jesus. In this relationship with God, the lay man in his humility of heart, spiritual poverty and thirst for prayer can be closer to the Heavenly Father than their pastor or priest. If there's darkness where we are, where there should be light. Something's wrong? PS: There are levels to activeness and effectiveness in the Christian way of life
